Reviews for Le Grand Hotel

Review 1:Room was tired and not well maintained. Only soap was in wall mounted push containers, one of which was empty. Loo seat was loose. More 2-star than 3-star as advertised. Would be happy to pay more here for 3-star standards.

Review 2:Very helpful receptionist

Review 3:The change of WiFi pass every day was a minor inconvenience, but not so important.

Review 4:Excellent clean room. Big and well equipped. The hotel is right in front of the train station, so no need to walk a lot, but also very close to the commercial centre. Definitely a recommended place to stay.

Review 5:The slight problem when we heard a baby next door for a while during the night. However, I would stay there again.

Review 6:Friendly staff, good breakfast for 13euros, location in centre, comfortable bed, well decorated room, nice bathroom.

Review 7:1. Flush in toilet was broken. 2. Bar closes early. 3. Free internet not working. 4. Locked out of our rooms before checkout. 5. Had to pay for parking.

Review 8:Clean and large rooms. Excellent breakfast with sausages and scrambled eggs but pricey at 13 Euros but under 12's eat for free!

Review 9:The over all appearance and maintenance of the building was poor. There appeared to be a lot of wear and tear on furniture, walls, carpets, etc.

Review 10:There was not much that I liked about the hotel

Review 11:Pillows were tiny and flat as pita bread

Review 12:Location to the train station was great and you didn't get any noise from the trains. We were a 5 minute work from a great strip of restaurants and not far from the main attractions. Room was big and bathroom huge, newly renovated.

Review 13:The fan in the bathroom would not turn off all night. No door on the bathroom so it was loud. Complaint was met with a shrug and no repair' apology or offer to move rooms.

Review 14:Quiet and close to parking. Decor updated.

Review 15:Wifi not great.Hard to locate hotel using sat nav.

Review 16:Location and peacefulness. Staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Good for old town and restaurants?

Review 17:Although the bathroom has been renovated the rest of the room and the hotel also need a good update.

Review 18:Close to the station and to the shopping, old city and tourist areas.

Review 19:Too close to the railstation, dirty streets around, very noisy during the night. The hairs in the bathroom from the previouse guests. Nobody from the group of 4 wanted to stay one more night in this hotel.

Review 20:Staff is friendly.

Review 21:Just by the train station. Good sized room with big windows looking to the park and the station. Nicely remodeled historic building. Friendly and helpful staff dealt generously with our bicycle storage.

Review 22:It's a physical limitation - difficult to change - but the lift is small even by European standards.

Review 23:Excellent location - incredibly close to the train station, plus a small market adjacent to the hotel. Staff was welcoming and very helpful with suggestions about where to eat and for help setting up wifi. Comfortable room/bed, clean everywhere and an AMAZING bathroom!

Review 24:Not really disliked but would have liked to have been able to order just coffee and croissant via room service one day.

Review 25:The location and helpfulness of staff

Review 26:Annoying to have to get wifi codes every 24 hours. Public areas are shabby and need to be cleaned, painted, upgraded.

Review 27:An unusually large room for Europe. Convenient to the train station. Large, new modern bathroom.

Review 28:Quite old and tired-looking inside and out. The lift is very old, slow and tiny so we used the stairs (to the 4tha nd 5th floor) most of the time which may be a problem for less physically able guests.

Review 29:Good location - right outside the train / bus station. Upgraded both times from a standard room to a junior suite / superior room. Friendly reception and large, new, attractive bathrooms.

Review 30:One staff member was quite unhelpful when it came to restaurant suggestions. The toilet was separate from the shower etc which was very strange.

Review 31:Location was great- right in the middle of town. Room was clean and bed comfortable.

Review 32:The breakfast choices were somewhat limited, considering the price (13 Euro). The towels in the bathroom are minute. Although Wi-Fi is supposed to be available, we couldn't get it to work at any time during our stay.

Review 33:The hotel is located quite centrally, about a 10 or 15 minute walk to the historical area of the town. The rooms have been refurbished and the one we were given was spacious, as was the bathroom. As the room was internal to the building it was also very quiet.

Review 34:This hotel had a great location right next to the SNCF train station, and was within easy reach of good bars and restaurants. Was also close to the old quarter but unfortunately we did not have time to get there.

Review 35:No complaints here. We were very happy and comfortable. Thank you.

Review 36:We arrived around midday which, we discovered, was checkout time and very busy. This, however did not affect the very warm and friendly welcome we received from Pauline who was on duty. She managed several groups at once and fielded questions with patience and good humour making each and every one of us feel equally important. She is a fantastic 'front of house' person and an asset to the hotel. Her happy, bright personality added to our enjoyment of Tours. Thank you.

Review 37:An older hotel in the very heart of Tours. Parking is in a public car park close by and there is a reduced rate. We would definitely consider this hotel if we visit Tours again( it was too hot for much exploring this time)

Review 38:Would have liked a full length mirror in our room.

Review 39:Front desk staff was awesome. Paulin, Victor and Marie were all very helpful, friendly and welcoming.

Review 40:Free WiFi was good but the signal was quite poor in our room. Rooms are relatively expensive.

Review 41:Very friendly staff, comfortable room and large, clean bathroom.

Review 42:The tab in the bathtub did not work, but as there was also a shower, we didn't mind.

Review 43:The hotel at the square of the central station might have seen better times, but it still has the feeling of a old style first class hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we were upgraded to an even nicer room. The square in front is quiet at night.

Review 44:Pleasantly surprised by this hotel located right next to the train station. The rooms have been remodeled with modern fixtures, but included eclectic touches that made the room unique. I would certainly stay here again.

Review 45:Didn't like the lumpy pullout bed for the children. Also Wifi was sporadic and complicated.

Review 46:Super friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble - including returning my Ereader to me that I carelessly left in the bedding. Rooms were of a high standard too.

Review 47:Only minor thing but very cramped wardrobe space not enough for 2 people staying a week.

Review 48:Hotel is next to the station and it has recently been refurbished. Big bathrooms and plenty of room. Nice, polite staff who speak good English.

Review 49:The lay out of the room gave us plenty of space with the bathroom adjoining across the back wall. Currently undergoing modernization but this does not hinder the splendor of this hotel.

Review 50:I did not like returning to the hotel to find the door of the room had been left wedged wide open. This was reported immediately but the management made no further contact with me about this.

Review 51:No fridge or tea/coffee making facilities in room.

Review 52:Great location, excellent staff member on our arrival. Art deco style, not up-market, but different!

Review 53:Noise which sounded like cleaners commenced at 06.30 and continued until around 08.30. View from room unpleasant , high walls surrounding a dirty glass roof area.

Review 54:Proximity to shops and tourist attractions.

Review 55:It was perfect. If they had a pool it would have been even better

Review 56:I absolutely loved everything about this hotel. First it was directly in front of the train station and across from the Vinci convention centre where I needed to be so it was perfect for me. The room was very spacious and clean. The bed was huge and comfortable. There was even a nice dining area in the room to tell you how big it was. There was a cooker in the room which I thought was quite strange but it was a nice touch incase one got food from outside and wanted to reheat it. The heating in the room didn't work and one of the staff was nice enough to bring me a smaller one. They gave me a nice room with a balcony and a front view which showed a nice view of the city as well as great natural lighting.

Review 57:We didn't get the email they usually send stating that the parking is underground at the train station. One of the ladies at the front desk was quite rude about it. No towel bars/hooks in the bathroom

Review 58:pretty good wifi.

Review 59:There was nothing I did not like.

Review 60:The hotel was very near the station and a supermarket. We were able to check in early and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 61:Some recepcionists were not very polite.

Review 62:Excellent localization, close to the train station, in the middle of Tours. Very clean and organized, the room was amazing.

Review 63:Breakfast is a bit expensive.

Review 64:Very close to the train station, outside hotel room looked old but in the bedroom was very okay, new decoration with good facilities.

Review 65:Parking underground car park adjacent to hotel very difficult to get to as one way with no entry signs and lift to street did not work, had to tow suitcases up ramp and on return had to take down steps to car park

Review 66:Nothing. I did not have their breakfast, so I cannot judge.

Review 67:Good bed, good bathroom. They have a food-warming pan in the room. They were very nice and I got to store my luggage with them upon arrival before checkinhours and also the dayI left.

Review 68:A little hard to get the car to the door even after the location email sent by the hotel, a bit more work required here on their part, luckily we were at nite so could stop in a pullover spot to walk in and get directions. Access is via a contolled walkway which the hotel is able to drop the plinth for but you dont know to access the intercom unless you know the system? During the day it would be a nightmare!

Review 69:Big room, great location, great staff, comfy bed, good price what more do you want ? We were at the end of the corridor so our wifi was a bit slow but ok, the place is a bit of an 'old lady' but you can still see the 'Grand' in her, its a great place to stay in Tours!!

Review 70:Wifi pass expired every 24 hours and different pass was required for each device. Room 355 was very small and in need of renovation but we got a very good price so not complaining

Review 71:location was excellent and staff extremely helpful

Review 72:Nothing

Review 73:Very helpful friendly staff. The hotel was conveniently a 2 minute walk from the train station. Very central position for restaurants and shopping.

Review 74:Shower over bath, no toiletries in bathroom.no tea or drinks facility in the bedroom.

Review 75:Location , ease of parking , friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable beds.

Review 76:Beds were a bit hard.

Review 77:Located within 100 metres of the train station, a tram stop, a supermarket and several food outlets it is a very convenient place to stay. The tourist information centre is within a two minute walk and the old centre of town is within 10 minutes walk. Our room was very large with two double beds and a huge bathroom. Has a lift for convenient access to all levels.

Review 78:Excellent location and a good price. Although almost next to the main train station it was quiet in the hotel and a pleasant area. Easy to walk to the main tourist bits. Tours is lovely.

Review 79:Rooms1. Dated..no ancient 2. Bed ...not clean. 3. Bathroom...facilities cracked, dirty and minimal. 4. No tea/coffee facilities..a basic! 5. We requested 'quiet room', which your manager went to great lengths to confirm as we booked in' as a corner room on a side street. Failed to mention vending facility opposite, evening/early morning drum solos and early morning 'pret a porter ' deliveries. Would you be satisfied? YOU REPLY! We like France. Your current hotel offering is poor....we previously spent several nights in Saumur, where hotel was excellent and delivered its 'standard'.

Review 80:Location & Breakfast ( expensive but good)

Review 81:Everything was great. The location, the staff, accommodation for accessible is absolutely brilliant. If you have a wheelchair this is definitely the hotel to go to in Tours. We loved our stay at this hotel.

Review 82:A small fridge would have been welcome. Otherwise, it was quite adequate and I would recommend it to others.

Review 83:Since we were taking trains the close proximity to the station was a definite plus. Our room was very quiet despite being so close to the train and the tram. The staff was very helpful.

Review 84:receptionist one day was not really helpful, iron should be provided in each room, very noisy during the day because of station

Review 85:location in the city ok, nice décor inside, clean, beds very comfortable

Review 86:Room was fair size. You don't need much when traveling anyways. I loved the pillows and that they had extra in the closet. Bathroom needed more light though. Very clean room and bathroom

Review 87:Bathroom designed by a madman Some staff offhand Impossible to access with being advised - they claimed they had sent an email - and argued when we said to had not been received - tres Francaise! bedroom noisy with main bus station right outside the hotel

Review 88:Some staff pleasant

Review 89:The hotel is very old and while our room had an updated and large bathroom, the decor is shabby and dirty as are the carpets, the hallways and lobby. It needs a lot of work

Review 90:The location is good f or the train station and the tourist office. The front desk staff was very helpful when my husband lost his wallet.

Review 91:Twin room was very small, not enough room for two single beds. A shame breakfast wasn't included in the price, although we got a good deal on the price anyway, so perhaps it worked out roughly the same. I've only given 'fair' for comfort because of the smallness of the room and the consequent closeness of the twin beds.

Review 92:Good facilities and good location. Excellent secure storage for our bikes and belongings. Helpful staff.

Review 93:Location of hair dryer difficult to use.

Review 94:Once we found the hotel, excellent location for train station, city center, and general walking. Helpful, pleasant staff, appreciated available parking arrangements.

Review 95:Surprisingly quiet at night considering train and bus stations right there, except one occasion in the early hours when some street people around yelling at each other.

Review 96:Liked location - as travelling by train and it is visible from station In shared room but large and comfortable Old hotel with character but is being renovated. Our room was newly renovated

Review 97:The rooms weren't very sound proof. There was a lot of noise from the street outside. They would benefit from double glazing on their windows

Review 98:Loved the size of the rooms and bathroom. I really liked the Art Deco type style. Great location right opposite the Train Station

Review 99:the '30s feeling of the hotel and the glamour of those ages that can still be felt in the Grand Hotel is enough for a great experience. the hotel is also perfectly located near the train station and at a walking distance to the old city center.

Review 100:Necessary to specify that you want a double room. Had to go through the wifi log-in procedure every time we left the hotel. Rich breakfast buffet but you had to pay 2€ extra for a glass of orange juice.

Review 101:When we arrived we only got a twin bedroom. Apparently it is necessary to specify in the booking if you want a double room. The friendly staff immediately gave us an upgrade and we had a spacious double room.

Review 102:- Wifi was not the best.

Review 103:We stayed one night at this hotel. Excellent spot. Bus and train station is just a tiny walk away. Its in the center. The staff was very helpful and spoke good English. The room is small but very nice. Super comfortable bed.

Review 104:The only downside was that we had a water leak in between the interconnecting rooms so the carpet was quite wet.

Review 105:The Style. The Location. Lovely Breakfast. Enjoyed a drink in the bar even though it was supposed to be closed.

Review 106:We were on the fourth floor and the lift was small and quaint but this was a small negat ive.

Review 107:We thought it was more than a 3 star hotel. The bathrooms were the size of bedrooms with large deep baths and high ceilings. The bedrooms with their high ceilings were airy and extremely comfortable with king size beds. Both bedrooms and bathroom s were spotlessly clean. The locaton close to the city centre was excellent. I would return here .

Review 108:Great location. Very helpful staff.Old world architecture. Sort of faded splendour but good value for money and an attractive car parking arrangement. Very impressed that they produced freshly baked gluten free bread. Would recommend it

Review 109:The breakfast at an expensive 13 euros was not worth the money. At 9am the 'hot' food was lukewarm to cold and was not replenished frequently enough. The table clearer/cleaner was unsmiling and noisy. A disappointing experience. Despite double glazing the noise from the street was surprisingly intrusive too early in the morning.

Review 110:Convenient central location with a discount for the nearby underground car park. Efficient check-in and a comfortable bed with air-conditioning.

Review 111:It was a bit tricky actually finding access to the place to unload luggage despite being emailed directions. A fridge in the room and a jug to make a hot drink would be nice too.

Review 112:Friendly staff, gave us an upgrade, good location, air conditioner worked well.

Review 113:Wifi was poor speed and too frequently required you to re-enter the log-in code. We didn't try breakfast as too expensive.

Review 114:In a great spot right outside the train station and bus depot yet no trouble with noise at all. The room was inexpensive yet had a very large and comfortable double bed, large flat screen TV and good air con.

Review 115:There was no hot water at our arrival. Not fixed by the morning. We found it fixed when returning from our day trip the evening after.

Review 116:Location, quality of bed

Review 117:We had some problems initially finding the parking, which was stressful. Once we were told, it was actually very conveniently located just across the road. Also, being so close to the train station, the area near the hotel attracts some dodgy people.

Review 118:The upgrade to a suite. We were at the end of a long trip and had been driving all day, so it was fantastic to arrive and move in to such a comfortable, spacious room. The air conditioning was much appreciated as it was quite hot outside.

Review 119:The staff were really helpful, the location was excellent - particularly if you travel by train. Short walk to restaurants and the old town. Room was clean and Comfortable. What more do you want.Oh good price too.

Review 120:Location is a real bonus, very central. I really appreciate the kindness of the receptionist. Se showed me the area to visit with a map. Very good bed!

Review 121:The best location for travelers. Bus stop, visitor information and train station within 100 yards of Hotel. Easy access to good food, quiet- a very nice surprise. They even have a lift!

Review 122:Parking is at the station so you have to either leave bags in the car or drag them with you to the hotel through a string of drug addicts and pickpockets. The room looked haunted, furniture in the hall was covered with sheets and dust and the green colour scheme added to the eerie ambience. To cap it all the renovation work on the adjacent room commenced with pipe banging at 7am. We were discounted parking costs for this but given the cost of the room and the smallest pillows I have ever seen, it didn't make up for the other failings.

Review 123:Very friendly staff, superb breakfast, we stayed 2 nights. One night we had a renewed room. This was beautiful decorated. The other night we had an older room but this was also o.k.

Review 124:WiFi not as strong as I could be, cuts out a lot. No tea/ coffee facilities in the room.

Review 125:Good location, clean, quiet. Right by the train station.

Review 126:Stayed here previously good position in Tours fair price nice hotel

Review 127:nothing

Review 128:fabulous enormous bed, central location, good value

Review 129:location near railway station helpfulness of staff

Review 130:nothing.

Review 131:Good location. Effective air conditioning. nice room and bathroom.
