Reviews for Best Western Central Hotel
Review 1:Nothing wrong with the hotel! Driving in Tours is a nightmare - very stressful - one way system changed from what is shown on the map, Satnav little help - road closure close to the hotel. Confusing as to whether you can drive or not near to the new tramway (trams are great!). French drivers surprisingly tolerant of our very hesitant and nervous driving. Tours itself is a lovely place. We'll come again and stay at the hotel, but we'll come by public transport (obviously that's the idea!)
Review 2:Comfortable room, all the plumbing and fittings worked, clean and quiet. Staff all friendly and welcoming. Delicious breakfast. Hotel great.
Review 3:Surprised at cost of having tea/coffee facility in room. It was possible to use louge and pay if warm drink required.
Review 4:Pleasant Staff. Reasonable value Breakfast.
Review 5:Took money from card minutes after I'd booked. Had to ask for tea and coffee facilities. No shampoo or moisturiser etc. despite being advertised as provided. car parking and dog extra cost. Room small.
Review 6:Location and helpful friendly staff.
Review 7:Wireless was very poor - did not work well
Review 8:The hotel had wonderful amenities just like in the US. The staff was amazingly helpful, friendly and knowledgeable
Review 9:Really comfortable bed beautiful bathroom right in the centre of tours, surrounded by eateries and bars. Friendly welcome, parked our motorbike for free in carpark
Review 10:Nice location in the middle between cathedral and downtown. Location is in a quiet street and the hotel has a private parking. Nice staff and free wi-fi
Review 11:Breakfast was expensive at 16 euros so we decided to eat breakfast elsewhere which was a lot cheaper and probably just as good quality.
Review 12:Very helpful and friendly reception staff, very spacious room and luxurious bathroom, excellent location.
Review 13:Hotel bathroom was dirty, towels were thread bare, room was small and over priced. When I informed staff, they said they had temporary cleaners as it was summer !!
Review 14:Great location, close to The river, shops, cafes & bars.
Review 15:Nothing to dislike.
Review 16:Fantastic hotel design Modern Great facilities Beautiful room Excellent bathroom and shower Superb location overlooking bay and Dinard Spar facility Bar and terrace
Review 17:There was a strange smell in our room. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable. Very poor quality breakfast, especially for 16 Euro!
Review 18:Location is very central. On site parking is good but tight spaces and our hire car had door scraped.
Review 19:Not a bad experience as such, just that although there was a huge choice at breakfast, if you only want a croissant and a cup of coffee, considered the cost rather high.Perhaps some sliding scale might be more reasonable.
Review 20:The central position of the hotel was definitely its very best point.
Review 21:I'm not sure how this creaking old hotel got its rating but the hard bed, the noise from other rooms (so badly soundproofed that you could hear the next room's bathroom visits all too clearly) and the dull decor didn't amount to much. Very pleasant and helpful staff and clean room lift it a bit. However, it felt like I had gone back in time within its frowsy atmosphere. We have stayed in many Best Western Hotels but stopped using them because we felt their prices didn't match the quality offered. This one has confirmed that opinion, including their express breakfast (the food content of which was a single tiny viennoise. We won't be booking a Best Western hotel again.
Review 22:Hotel location.
Review 23:The bathroom needs magnifying mirror on an extendable arm. There is only one large mirror which is in the bathroom and it's too faraway to reach if you are short sighted.
Review 24:Helpful staff when I was unwell
Review 25:According to the info in the room there was room service available from reception, but when we turned up at 21:30, due to delays caused by bad weather and heavy traffic, we were told no food was available and that we would have to go out to find something. The mini bar was poorly stocked, it wasn't worth having. Although there was an excellent choice for breakfast they were very slow to top up when running low, the tap on the milk dispenser didn't work properly and nobody seemed concerned. When we arrived we were told our 13yr old could eat for free, by the time it was time to leave we were told this was wrong, our son was classed as an adult and would have to pay, I must add when I complained I was not charged for my son's breakfast, I just didn't want to have to complain in the first place!
Review 26:The location was great, right between the main high street and a street of restaurants and bars and only 2 blocks away from the river, but the room was quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was fitted out excellently and the room was large with high ceilings, it didn't feel too cramped even with 4 of us in there.
Review 27:Booked large family room for 5 which they didnt have, instead large room and standard double.
Review 28:hotel was nice a central, we travelled on route home from the south-west coast.
Review 29:We unexpectedly had bring our granddaughter and a bed was squeezed into the bedroom whilst told we were getting a bigger room and being charged almost the same price again for it.
Review 30:Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 31:Wifi is extremely bad. Maybe a washing machine in the property will help. More English speaking & information in English. Quite far from train station
Review 32:Pretty hotel. Near tourist destinations.
Review 33:Small complaint - the breakfast was a tad sparse ... and on the morning we stayed, the fruit salad seems to have been contaminated with fish. OK ... these things happen ... but shouldn't.
Review 34:We wanted a no-nonsense hotel in central Tours for an overnight to break a long drive - this ticked all the boxes ... along with easy parking. Close to the cathedral and medieval centre.
Review 35:Nice, clean hotel. An easy walk to the train station and to the lovely town square & restaurants. The have parking for cars and bikes available too.
Review 36:The room was very stuffy on what admittedly was a very warm sultry evening, but the air-conditioning was not satisfactory and was very very loud.
Review 37:Lovely big luxurious room, despite AC problem. Very nice helpful staff.
Review 38:Breakfast at €16/each was too expensive. Otherwise NO complaints!
Review 39:Centrally located, parking available, very friendly helpful english speaking receptionists, very comfortable room with AC and excellent bathroom
Review 40:Parking - I was asked to re-park my car 5 times to meet the almost OCD requirements of the receptionist after a 7 hour drive from South West France. No assistance was offered with luggage (Of which we had a lot). Comfort room was on the small side so had to upgrade to a family room which cost another 60 Euros (Including a 19 Euro discount!)
Review 41:Location was good, easy walk to bars and restaurants. Breakfast okay, a good selection but not cheap.
Review 42:Lovely building just a few minutes walk from the Loire and main sights. Good choice of bars and restaurants nearby. Reserved parking on site available although paid street parking nearby didn't seem a problem
Review 43:Breakfast maybe a little over priced. Adequate only.
Review 44:Only minutes from the old city centre by foot. car packing at the front door in their courtyard made for hassle free arriving. Staff were helpful and obliging.
Review 45:The basics were there but the hotel didn't really understand the room was bad, although they did agree to change our room. Who would show a guest to a room with a badly cracked washbasin?
Review 46:air con didn't work - wifi would not connect, Short overnight stay en route so not that important, but if it had been longer......
Review 47:Gardens are beautiful and relaxing
Review 48:Location is central and close to restaurants, shopping and historic sites. Hotel is clean, friendly efficient service and parking is convenient right at entrance for an additional 10 euro per night, well worth the price. Bed and pillows very comfortable we had room 107 and it faced into the internal courtyard and was very quiet. Shower pressure was good. Excellent base in Tours.
Review 49:Very disappointed and annoyed by follow-up charge for a mineral water bottle which appeared at first appraisal to be a souvenir gift and was subsequently charged for.. I recommend this misleading ploy is removed .. it certainly discourages me from staying there again !
Review 50:I was perfectly happy with my stay while I was there and compared well with other nearby Hotels where I stay frequently. Very convenient parking.
Review 51:I had to pay €10 to park my car overnight in the hotel's own courtyard.
Review 52:The hotel is located on the edge of the old town and near the Loire river. And it is extremely quiet.
Review 53:Close to old town and restaurants. Beautiful building. Great neighbourhood and near the river Loire. We had a great recommendation for a restaurant - le Laurenty. Would definitely use this hotel and restaurant again
Review 54:Nothing to mention. Probably 10 euro for parking spot per night is the only thing to dislike.
Review 55:Everything was good. We styed one night and were offered to upgrade from standard to superior room for 10 euro. As we refused the offer the upgrade was done for free.
Review 56:Hotel was a little pricier than I expected. For the price of the room, Iwas surprised to have to pay 10 euros for parking. Also, the lighting inthe bedroom was very dim; better lighting is needed.
Review 57:Location; proximity to where our family in Tours lives; clean roomand bathroom.
Review 58:Dismal lacking welcome dingy room no tea making facilities until I found details in booklet then had to get my own from reception nowhere to plug in kettle except under desk had to crawl on the floor to find it very poor not to be recommended
Review 59:Location good for city and restaurants
Review 60:Our room was extremely small, even by French standards. Although we booked at Eur 120 on line for the night, the advertised rack rate at reception for the same room was Eur 79. We were charged the higher rate.
Review 61:The proximity to the Old Town was an advantage
Review 62:The internet was too slow, and the standard rooms are diferent area,so,check before you sign in,because they gave us a very small room.
Review 63:The location is god.and the personal is frendly.
Review 64:Doors on self closers and all banged loudly. All night long banging of other doors could be heard in our room. Plumbing VERY noisy from other rooms. No tea or coffee facilities in room. No WiFi except to send e-mails unable to surf net. Breakfast poor.
Review 65:Bathroom
Review 66:Price of breakfast 16 Euros,!! Would probably explain underusedbreakfast facility
Review 67:Location,Mattress,Bedding all excellent ,spotlessly clean.Pleasantambience, helpful friendly staff, secure parking.
Review 68:Good hotel in Tours. Main medieval square with many restaurants is just 10min away walking. The room is comfortable and the continental breakfast is very good. The hotel has a parking lot, which is a plus. It is a classic Best Western but very functional if you are travelling around the Loire Valley and stop by Tours.
Review 69:WiFi did not work for us. Breakfast at 16 Euros is expensive, we usedcoffee shop, of which many are 1 minute away.
Review 70:We liked secure parking. Also quiet location but 3 minutes walkingdistance to town centre. Very clean room and bathroom. Tea traysprovided on request.
Review 71:Walls a little thin between rooms. No tea making facilities in our room.
Review 72:Very clean, spacious rooms and bathrooms. Good decoration condition Effective air conditioning. Happy and caring staff.
Review 73:I wasn't expecting anything too grand, having stayed at a Best Western in the UK but this was a nice surprise. Clearly an old building with wide staircases and lots of interesting features. The room was very comfortable, the shower room was lovely, not your typical budget hotel room at all. All in all, a nice, comfortable stay. All members of reception staff were very polite and extremely friendly.
Review 74:Coming from the US and being used to large hotel rooms, I was prepared for a small room. However, this room was good sized and very nice/clean. I would definitely stay here again!
Review 75:There was no sound proofing whatsoever so sleep was impossible. You could clearly hear everything going on in the hotel. The area outside was fairly quiet so very disappointing. Because of this I cannot recommend this hotel. The rooms were lovely but there was no point because it was impossible to rest.
Review 76:Nice hotel with lovely clean bedrooms. Excellent bathroom
Review 77:the bathroom had a leak, so we had to change room after we had moved in
Review 78:location, price, breakfast, quiet
Review 79:Noisy room. Quite far from Train station.
Review 80:Friendly staff
Review 81:Location. Size of room and bath.
Review 82:No tea facility Not very good shower curtain

Review 88:Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 89:One of the front desk managers was rood, he forced us to pay for the bottle of pure water E10,
Review 90:Car parking is in front yard, must pay E10
Review 91:We did not have breakfast at the hotel.
Review 92:Staff was very friendly and helful.
Review 93:A bit overlooked by adjacent buildings. Breakfast cost E16 each.
Review 94:On site parking, location for centre
Review 95:it was very relaxing with off road parking & right in the area where we wanted too be+the staff always had a smile & helpfull

Review 99:Great location
Review 100:breakfast expensive
Review 101:Location & lovely hotel
Review 102:Location was excellent, if we were not booked on ferry we would have extended our stay.

Review 104:Spacious room, nice breakfast.

Review 106:It was a nice hotel with very fast wifi and close proximity to the eating areas
Review 107:None
Review 108:Friendly and informative staff. Excellent position with secure parking.
Review 109:The fact that there's no lift from the car park to the hotel, very difficult especially with older travellers

Review 112:nothing.
Review 113:location. best western standard.
