Reviews for Sands Beach Resort

Review 1:Quite family oriented, which is not criticism, just not what we went for.

Review 2:Went mainly for the 25m pool, so may not have booked there otherwise. But rooms nice and cleaned well every day.

Review 3:The kitchen could be better equipped generally, and needs a cafetière (we bought one as none were available from reception).

Review 4:Sea view and proximity to town, as well as walks along the coast and local countryside. Being able to self cater. Easy parking.

Review 5:Appartment was dated, needed complete refurb and no air con . Soliel bar had a covered over section for smokers adjacent but unfortunatley the smoke continuously wafted into the main bar so didn't go there much. Poor wi fi

Review 6:Friendly staff, good location near beach

Review 7:Given how sporty the resort is, I had expected the restaurants would cater a little better with a healthy menu but in fairness the food was delicious down at the main pool.

Review 8:Great location with brilliant sporting facilities and accommodation. Weather in early December was a lovely early 20's and the quality of staff for sports was excellent. Thinking of going back for longer in February.

Review 9:We have stayed here three times in total,it's a great place to stay with young children as there are two pools outside each row of apartments and a heated pool with activities during the day and entertainment by night.

Review 10:We only stayed for a night and had an upgraded room from a studio to a sleep 6 on two levels. Staff very friendly although the shop was quite expensive.

Review 11:Apartments are a little dated and old fashioned and some of the pool areas could do with an update. The onsite supermarket is very handy but expensive compared to prices in the resort.

Review 12:Great location at the quieter end of the resort, but with its own small private beach/lagoon. The apartments are really roomy, plenty of space for up to 5 people, more like a small villa, and are all set around a pool (6 pools in total I think). The staff are all really helpful and knowledgeable.

Review 13:People seem to wander in from the beach front and take up the limited amount of sun beds available at the lagoon

Review 14:Accommodation very comfortable, excellent location, helpful staff

Review 15:Pools were freezing!! Website says free wifi but this is only in certain areas, extra charge for room wifi :(

Review 16:Beautiful resort, well laid out and incredibly well maintained. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.

Review 17:Wifi charged for per device and not cheap Should be freely available in 2015 like it is in all the bars and restaurants in the resort.

Review 18:Excellent rooms, great location, choice of pools and beaches, shop on site for any essentials

Review 19:I couldn't fault it

Review 20:Hotel was excellent staff couldn't of been nicer The hotel is huge and to every block of apartments you had your own pool. The place was extremely clean. Lots of things going on in the hotel kids club is excellent running trails witch my boyfriend went 3 times 5k to 10k more if u wanted all included in your stay , aqua yoga swimming/diving lessons only 10 euro . The lagoon was gorgeous and the pool bar has great choice of food. there is a supermarket in the hotel games room gym spa witch I used and got excellent customer service everyone is so nice I would definitely go back and recommend it to others And only 10 min walk to rest of shops and restaurants another 10 mins passed that even more shops

Review 21:One small negative was that my apartment was close to the bar & I could hear the music each evening. Not a huge problem for me but might be for some. When I booked there was no option to pick or even see the location of the apartment. So it seems a little bit like the luck of the draw. Personally, I'd happily pay a little more if I could select an apartment further away from the bar.

Review 22:Ideal for me as a solo traveller going there to get lots of quality triathlon training done in the sun. The 25m lane pool is fantastic for swim training, I swam both early in the morning and later in the evening & the pool was never too crowded. (Bring a swim cap with you). For cycling, you can store your bike in your apartment which gives you peace of mind. Also you can easily exit the resort at the side without going through reception, for me this is essential if you're dripping sweat after training! For the running most of my routes were done on the rocky/sandy/hilly trails nearby. These probably aren't for everyone & less experienced runners might prefer short runs on the beach front.

Review 23:The only fault I would have would be no air con. And the kitchen had very little pots pans ect. Now when I asked more were sent immediately.

Review 24:The views were amazing. We were on the beach.

Review 25:Pull down bed in studio apartment, not being informed that wifi was free to direct customers on arrival, poorly equipped kitchen.

Review 26:Location, small resort feel.

Review 27:The bar could do with a make over, paint job and revamp etc

Review 28:Great apartment, beach front , lovely food in the Mai tai restaurant. Pools were never over packed.....

Review 29:My room stank of insecticide which was horrible, no free wifi, ants and dead cockroaches, no air con and the room was extremely hot

Review 30:Nice staff and pool

Review 31:The place was exceedingly overbooked and over crowded. No sun beds available, 700 children in one particular week. The beds are so uncomfortable, we needed massage. The pool was a flotation devise stew, with hundreds of rubber dingy's and too many small, screaming children from 6.30 am, everyday.

Review 32:The Mai Tai restaurant was really good and the staff are very professional.

Review 33:The place was so overcrowded it was ridiculous, we couldn't get a sunbed for the last 4 days of our holiday. The staff told us there were 700 children in the complex that week. The pool was stuffed with rubber toys and floatation's. The beds were so uncomfortable in the bedroom that we had to have physio when we came home. The sunbeds by the pool are the worst I have ever encountered.. I will never return to Lanzarote as a result of this dreadful holiday.

Review 34:The Restaurant was excellent and always good quality except for the chef speciality tomato soup, which was tinned!!

Review 35:Hard to find a sun lounger that hasn't already been reserved. Help getting luggage to and from the room would also have been nice.

Review 36:The lagoon is fab for the kids

Review 37:The only criticism I had was that the apartments were dated and definitely need a refit on the interior. the exteriors were well maintained but he interiors were not 4 star quality in my opinion, and therfore did not represent good value for money. I was also disappointed in that we overlooked the olympic swimmingpool which lacked a holiday atmosphere , which meant we had to seek sunbeds at one of the other pools in the complex every day, while a lot of people who paid the same amount of money , had just to open their door and walk out to much nicer pool areas.

Review 38:we liked the layout of the complex with the variety of pools. the complex was maintained very well and the idea of your pool right outside your apartment was excellent, especially if you have young kids.

Review 39:Drinks very expensive. Shops not stocking enough for self caterers. Wifi was poor in our area.

Review 40:Good laundry service, clean site. Lots of pools and good facilities.

Review 41:No lifeguard in the Mai Thai pool. Lifeguards in Only one wifi code per apartment.

Review 42:Excellent facilities, friendly polite staff, safe environment for children to play in the lagoon.

Review 43:The fact that the sporting activities were not on - on too many occasions. The pool area was being resurfaced it look unsightly but if it looks like it's neighbouring pool when finished it will look fab

Review 44:Sporting activities

Review 45:where to start. The trek from lobby to room, rearranging living space to create 2nd bedroom(pullout couch), rules of hotel clearly not even enforced regarding BF, shop prices, general area and security in general complex...

Review 46:view of the lagoon from beach front, or looking out over the ocean from the room.

Review 47:People smoking inside the main bar area Staff could do more to knowledge you are there simple things like say good morning

Review 48:Breakfast was very good, great deep 25m pool, clean environment, reception team where fast to sort out any problems

Review 49:Was allocated wrong apartment on arrival, as were others. Annoying. Moved on day 2 and given a day's half board as compensation. Not really good enough

Review 50:Being right on the beach

Review 51:Slippery tiles around most pool areas, sharp rocks on ground of artificial private beach, horrendous beds, cold pools

Review 52:Great resort layout, super breakfast and friendly staff

Review 53:We were informed the night before arrival that the 2 Bedroom Apartment originally booked, was not available. Not sure if this was a Booking.com or Resort Error. Sands Beach Resort offered to get us a 2 bedroom at another resort, but it was far from beach and no kids activities. We ended up in a 1 bedroom with a mini kitchen. Huge disappointment, and constant reminder as we walked from our apartment past all the much larger nicer apartments to the other facilities on the resort. Buddy Club is really meant for children ages 4-7. Heated swimming pool was far from heated. Heated Lap Pool was a much nicer temperature, but reserved for athletes. Beds were very uncomfortable.

Review 54:Breakfast Buffet was wonderful, lots of choices and great quality. Whole family enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Great location on the beach, nice private lagoon for kids, very clean facility.

Review 55:-mini disco for kids only in english. not a word for non British guests -huge cuckroach in the room. the cleaning lady did not even remove it until 48h -forgot to bring us towels

Review 56:-free internet -supermarket inside the hotel

Review 57:Wifi needs to be more reliable. Constantly having to log on

Review 58:Breakfast buffet excellent Dinner buffet varies in quality. Some evenings great, some bland.

Review 59:Uncomfortable drop down bed. Kitchen cupboards in need of a repainted. Oven didn't work Threadbear sofa

Review 60:Housekeeping - done every day with clean towels friendly staff

Review 61:Apartment was in a great location. Food in the restaurant was good. Apartment was cleaned every day. My husband loved the 25 metre heated swimming pool. I loved the running routes along the beach - a very good 6 mile run along beach and back to apartments. Nice and quiet at night so we had a great nights sleep. Facilities in the apartment were great, we had everything we needed.

Review 62:Wifi in the room was poor, but if you sat in reception it was okay. Costa teguise is small and ok city, but if you are not here for training i will recomend another place, i thing you can bore if not

Review 63:Nice studios with full equipment kicthen. Perfect to run and hiking in the area- you can run and hike for endless. 25 m pool, classes for bodyfit, core and other stuff and nice fitness gym. Good and big supermarket. This hotel have all you needs

Review 64:We booked and paid for superior appt directly with sands 2 months before our holiday. When we arrived they told us the resort was over booked and they only had a standard appt available. Offered 6 euro per day as compensation which did not even cover the difference in cost and what we had paid for the appts. We eventually got 16 euros per day as a refund but it was put onto our hotel account as opposed to being paid back into our bank account and got free breakfasts for the week. When we checked out, they tried to charge us for the free breakfasts! We were angry that sands did not inform us before we arrived that they were over booked so we did not have the option of booking elsewhere.

Review 65:Some moments should be pointed as I believe the Management will pay attention: 1/ cats are incredibly annoying! (in my case was no chance to open the door anytime day or night as cats immediately went into, even sitting in patio meant trying to get rid off their annoying behavior (my opinion: there must not be any animals on the hotel territory as people feed them and animals get used to it), 2/lack of wifi on bedroom, 3/pillows smelled so strong so had bad sleep all nights (perhaps, it was only in my case, and I`m not allergic at all!). 4/there`s no ventilation in toilet/bathroom. Most of the properties in Canary Islands were built in 80-90s so the furniture and style are aged, and this is everywhere I`ve been around the islands.

Review 66:Stayed in one bedroom apt which is located just by the lagoon (picturesque sunsets) - all in nice, feel very warm inside. Pleasant small patio with sunbeds, free wifi in the room (which is just a heaven`s gift in the island!), ergonomic kitchen, very professional reception and many more important things that make your stay pleasant. Thank you!

Review 67:there was 1 gripe that my partner and I both had and that was that our beach front apartment had no privacy we did notice that 2 appartments had doors at the top of the stairs which gave them privacy when on the balconys we were 66 and would have preferred a door at the top of stairs for privacy.

Review 68:we stayed in a superior beach front apartment the position was excellent we were self catering and we had all we required we were very pleased with our stay.

Review 69:The bed was too hard for my liking, some may prefer that.heated pools felt colder than 26deg & that u pay extra to use sport pool

Review 70:Liked the choice of swimming pools & accomodation

Review 71:booked a studio room which on the website stated that it had a dishwasher and a kitchen. Not a big problem but it was more a kitchenette i.e. no dishwasher and 2 hobs but no oven. My room was near the bar and I could hear the music very clearly - bit of an annoyance. Rooms further away are very quiet at night. Rooms very clean and tidy but on my last night some cockroaches appeared from somewhere. Strange as all holiday up to that point there was literally no sign of any bugs. Suppose this can happen from time to time on Lanzarote at any resort because my impression is that the resort as a whole is kept very clean and hygienic. I've also been before and had no bugs at all so I don't think it was a representative occurrence.

Review 72:Went there for running and cycling training and the resort is set up well for the sporting enthusiasts. They're happy for you to keep a bicycle in your apartment & you can access the resort on your bike or when running via the road at the side so you don't have to go through the reception area when you're sweaty or with your bike. Trail runs are very close to the resort, practically on the beach front, and there's a 25m pool for lane swimming. Hired my bike from Evolution Bikes who were great, just round the corner on the beach front and cheaper than bike rental from Sands Beach. Supermarkets (Hyper Dino) are close by and cheaper than the resorts shop if you're self catering. Taxi rank is very close by if you need a taxi back to airport. (22 euros approx).

Review 73:Wifi very poor Noisy maintenance (construction)work during daytime No sunshine on terrace Clean towels and sheets very day; carbon foodprint Bath; water is scarce on the island

Review 74:Layout of resort Clean towels and sheets Swimmingpool Our studio Supermarket Security Hardly noise from neighbours Bath Good coffee Friendly personel

Review 75:the pool areas need to be modernised and sunloungers replaced are they are grimy and very tatty

Review 76:nice location. excellent facilities for kids. Nice apartments

Review 77:I did not expect to have to pay extra for the use of a safe, I thought for almost £100 pn it should have been included. The apartment is not luxurious, it is a little tired and the facilities are fairly basic. I was also confused about whether or not we were entitled to use the sun loungers on the beach.

Review 78:We chose a Beach Front apartment, which was a lot more expensive than the other apartments available. I liked the location within the complex and the fact that we had two sun loungers on our terrace. We also had free wifi which I liked.

Review 79:I found the complex needs to be updated, tiling around pools, lagoon neds to be cleaned out to remove weeds. Pull down bed in room must be replaced as it was bent in places but good matress. Cleaners were tardy, one cleaner could not make a bed properly and failed to change linens regularly

Review 80:location location location close to beach short walk distance to shops, bars, etc.

Review 81:- no air con but was only uncomfortable for two unseasonably warm nights - could hire air con or fans tho.

Review 82:- daily maid service which was outstanding, highest standards of cleaning. - location - had a beachfront apartment (which was an upgrade from a superior one-bed free of charge) - staff - everyone does their utmost - security - 24 hour monitoring by staff on bikes - the lagoon is great - two steps from our front door. - loads of sunbeds.

Review 83:Although there are 7 pools there are very few parasols by the pool which prevented us from staying on site during the day, the local beach had plenty. If I had checked properly when booking, with no air conditioning, I wouldn't have booked here.

Review 84:Incredibly spacious apartment, we were upgraded to a beach front as on arrival there wasn't an apartment available of the type we had booked. Our view out to sea was wonderful.

Review 85:better clean the lake bottom a little bit, isn't like it looks like in the photos

Review 86:lots of place to park, good pools, nice pool bar, big and equiped room.

Review 87:The service in the mai tai pool bar in our opinion was slow, due to this we preferred to go out of hotel for drinks & food. Also there were numerous little flies in the beachfront apartments, which was really annoying!

Review 88:We liked that there were a lot of different pools to choose from and also that the hotel was so near the beach.

Review 89:Pools were rather cold. Very windy.

Review 90:Staff were excellent. Beach very close and excellent for crabbing and fishing, lovely clear water. Very cheap drinks in Lanzarote. Loads of reataurants to choose from if you walk along to the square. Volcano trip. Cheap car hire at resort, easy to knock the price down.

Review 91:For the price we paid the furniture and fittings are very very old, the apartments need to be refurbished. The wardrobes, windows and doors were too old. The towels we fresh and white, changed every day, although the mattress was good the bed linen is very poor quality. A fan or air con would be a nice addition.

Review 92:The accommodation is right beside the pool which is handy, it is visually very nice. They have fitness classes every day starting at 10.30 but the fitness room had no windows, it would be far nicer if the room looked over the sea, or if the classes were outside on a shaded veranda.

Review 93:Costa Teguise can be a bit windy, compared to Playa Blanca

Review 94:Excellent resort, especially if you book an appartment on Beach Front.

Review 95:Sports offer

Review 96:Everything , going back next year

Review 97:No free wifi

Review 98:Good layout, cheap food

Review 99:Not enough beds around the heated pool

Review 100:Limited choice on menus in restaurants/bars.

Review 101:Facilities for children.

Review 102:Accommodation needs updating

Review 103:The location was good for walking and cycling.

Review 104:Nothing

Review 105:Everything Oskar's Bingo was exceptional

Review 106:the appartment smelt of dampness

Review 107:the facilities ie the pools (6 0f them) were excellent as were the bars and restaurants

Review 108:Having a bike rental next door (Papagayo)was great.

Review 109:Facilities for children. Entertainment at night.

Review 110:Children's night entertainment for very young children not targeted for any child above 7. Hotel bar very expensive.

Review 111:Loved the resort and the staff were very friendly and helpful will defiantly be going back

Review 112:Very boaring around pools not enough goin on way to spread out

Review 113:Comfy nice beach hut to rooms nice

Review 114:As above

Review 115:Hotel great apart from work being done from 8.30am till 5 or 6 at night

Review 116:There was no heated pool for use with kids as it wasn't working

Review 117:The Buddy Club was a big hit

Review 118:The location was perfect.the staff are very friendly and professional.very relaxing atmosphere

Review 119:fantastic place ... Each room overlooked a pool and some have sea view ... The Olympic pool you need a cap to use pool

Review 120:There was broken mashing mashin in the room, they denied to repare

Review 121:Played waterpolo there at SpanIsh Cup, pool is great, locationis also good

Review 122:The children's pools were very cold. The children could only swim for a very short time and the had to get dried and dressed again.

Review 123:local super market pricy

Review 124:friendly staff ,access to the beach .

Review 125:Need toilets for children near lagoon beach. Clothes horse would be handy to dry towels on balcony.

Review 126:Food. entertainment, facilities and location.

Review 127:Furniture a little dated and television could do with modernisation.

Review 128:Pool areas close to accommodation. Lots of room in accommodation.

Review 129:We only stayed the one night but everything was very clean and well catered for.

Review 130:the cold wind

Review 131:Fascinating visits

Review 132:Everything!! Superb facilities, friendly staff and a superb location.

Review 134:Lovely pools n bars happy pleasant staff great value for money
