Reviews for Pierre & Vacances Résidence Le Chant des Oiseaux
Review 1:Beds were extremly hard. Arrived late & cell phone dead, exhausted & unable to call. Thank god friendly guests our walking dog who called on her behalf.
Review 2:Location & apartment like room
Review 3:We never got to use the pool because it closed by 7pm. We would have loved to have been able to use it after touring the beaches all day. The kids needed something to do after going to museums. Get your groceries early as stores close by 8. Not enough parking spots in lot.
Review 4:Small, cosy beach town. Very close to visit Juno beach centre and Caen. Laundry facilities. We arrived late but they left our room info and key for us.
Review 5:Not the most comfortable sitting area and bedroom tiny but apart from that everything was great. You might struggle if the weather was bad and stuck inside with children; none of which applies to us!
Review 6:Very clean if a little basic but perfect for our 3 night trip to see Normandy beaches.
Review 7:We didn't feel particularly welcome here. The staff wasn't especially friendly. One staff member did help us find the train schedule back to Paris. I asked for some extra towels, and the manager resisted. Heat wasn't turned on until the day after we arrived. We also had to pay for the use of the room safe. Never had to to that before. Distance from Omaha Beach was about 45 minutes by car. Limited restaurants and no food shops within walking distance. The office closes about 7:00 pm. The parking lot gets very full at night.
Review 8:Rooms are actually cabins with full kitchen facilities, although we didn't use them. Property is located next to a marina. Close to Juno Beach. There is a security gate to the parking lot requiring a code to enter at night.
Review 9:The pool hours should be extended. Eg 7:00am to 9:00pm I like to swim early before I start my day. Also the pool was closed at night at 7:00 when we returned from dinner.
Review 10:The wifi should be provided for free like most hotels. The basic service was terrible. We had to upgrade.
Review 11:Low level paid WiFi is poor (don't bother). Need to pay for higher speed which is not cheap with a family and several devices. Ground floor apartments have restricted view, try and get a balcony/upper level.
Review 12:Good location for ferry terminal and Normandy beaches
Review 13:The layout of the property was not the best and our travel cot ended up in the hallway as it wouldn't fit in our bedroom. Wifi would be better if it was free and would have been nice to have more consumables such as bin bags, toilet rolls etc.
Review 14:The location was ideal for us as we were touring the beaches and museums of the coast.
Review 15:Quite expensive Wifi and we didn't get it to work for more than 4 items even if it was supposed to work for 5.
Review 16:Nice small town. Very interesting to visit the Juno Beach Center.
Review 17:Check-in was not smooth. Pool closed at 1900 hrs.
Review 18:Convenient location to Juno Beach. Very helpful and friendly staff. I would stay there again with my family.
Review 19:Not sure why I paid so much for the stay! Seems like with all I had to do, they should've paid me!! When you go on holiday, you expect it to be a holiday. I did not expect from the description of the property that I would have to clean the kitchen at the end of the stay, put my own liner in the bin AND take it to the collection bin outside at the end (and there was only 1 liner per bin..if I needed more, I'd have to BUY it MYSELF!!). Also, did NOT expect to make my own beds or BUY my OWN toilet paper after the 1 measly roll they provided!!! In addition, they gave our breakfast (bread and pastries are the only choices to get) away to someone else who's name is not even close to our's, yet still made us pay for the other people's breakfast they gave us in exchange after the fact!! If the description would have listed that these things were required, fine...I may still have chosen it, but wouldn't have been so shocked at it...or if I were staying an extended period and wanted a "camping" or "home" type feel fine. In addition, if you arrive late, you are in a bind as the reception CLOSES!! What sort of reception closes!! Their 24/7 emergency number did not work and nobody answered. We were panicked for about an hour trying to figure out how to get ahold of someone until a very nice guest saw us and told us the code to get to the box with our key and "welcome" package. This information would have been nice to know BEFORE hand, when I made the reservation. In addition, the pool closes when reception does!! Ridiculous!! Will NEVER stay here again or recommend this property to anyone!!
Review 20:I liked the location of the property and that it had a kitchenette and a nice balcony with a beautiful view.
Review 21:I would have liked to have the staff more accessible, (the desk was only open from 9-12 and 4-7 each day).
Review 22:The apartments are spacious, with a nice kitchen, dining, and living area. Since we had a family of four, it was helpful that there were two separate bathrooms (one with a shower, sink, and toilet, and the other with a shower/tub, and sink). The staff was friendly and helpful, and it was conveniently located along the Normandy beach driving areas.
Review 23:A bit tight, but I loved that we could all stay together. The pool hours were not long enough for us to really enjoy. They closed at 7 so by the time we got home from visiting all the historical sites and museums the pool was closing. They did not offer breakfast but we cooked our own.
Review 24:Place was a bit small but had everything we needed. There were bunk beds for the kids, a double bed for me and my husband, and two very comfy couch/beds for my parents. The kitchenette allowed us to cook our own meals. There was a refrigerator and a dishwasher.
Review 25:1/2 roll of toilet paper for 4 people. Reservation info did not say we had to supply our own. Asked front desk for another roll. We were told that we only get one roll. wouldn't have been a problem, but stores were closed Sunday and Monday. Really? They could not spare a 50 cents euro roll of toilet paper?
Review 26:Location was good. Walking distance to Juno beach.
Review 27:The room was old and in need of repairs. The bathroom doorknob was falling off, meaning the bathroom often had to be opened from the outside. The hotel charged our card three times the established fee just days before our trip: an unwelcome surprise!
Review 28:The location (a short walk to Juno Beach and restaurants), the pool, although it didn't stay open late enough for us to be able to enjoy it. For an apartment right in the middle of the Normandy sites, it was adequate. Small, but it did the trick.
Review 29:We were only provided with one small roll of toilet paper for a family of four over three full days. So we ran out before we left. Also, rooms, kitchen, and hall was very narrow.
Review 30:Nice and clean.
Review 31:For such a big operation, Wi-Fi should be free.
Review 32:The location of our house was perfect and you could order your croissants the day before for pick up at the reception the next morning.
Review 33:My son is 16yrs old he was uncomfortable with his sofa bed. He had a hard time sleeping
Review 34:The room was ok for little family with little kids. Very family oriented otherwise a family with young adult is not very much recommended to give them just half length sofa as a bed.
Review 35:Had to pay for wifi. Pool closed early which made it hard for is to use it after being out all day.
Review 36:Great location to explore Normandy. Plenty of room for our three young kids. Playground in back and pool was available.
Review 37:No washing up liquid in the kitchen Had to pay twice for Internet as it did not work the first time The sofa-beds were not that comfortable!
Review 38:The staff was great. Checking in and out was very easy. The location, the facilities and storage space were very good.
Review 39:Bedroom very small and the bed was very hard and uncomfortable, used spare duvets under bottom sheet to try and make it softer! Pillows were square and seemed full of air like lying on a balloon! My advice would be to take your own pillows! No English channels on TV!
Review 40:Great location, easy walk into town, plenty of shops and places to eat nearby. Can walk to Juno beach and museum from apartment . Great place for base to visit all world war 2 beaches. Good facilities including a swimming pool. Apartment good overall would recommend
Review 41:We did'nt spend a lot of time in the apartment because it was so pokey. On evening 3 of our stay, I had had a bath and was sitting on the platform sofa wearing a towel and I started to get bitten, the whole sofa was crawling with fleas, its all very well allowing pets into these apartments but for goodness sake de-flea the place before you let it out again, disgusting really.
Review 42:not a lot, very pokey accomodation not a lot to recommend it really, just about enough space in the bedroom to get into bed so long as you walked sideways alongside the bed to get to the pillows
Review 43:all good
Review 44:very good value for aparty of people.very clean .plenty of towels ,bedding etc.bit of ashame we were only staying one night really . been along time since i stayed in france hotels have come a long way !
Review 45:No blow dryer or any conveniences like wash clothes or coffee provided. Didn't realize we'd have to make the beds.
Review 46:Lots of space and clean unit.
Review 47:No conventional oven in small kitchen. Central admin (in Paris) not so easy to deal with, and it was not easy to find actual contact details of local (on-site) office. This caused anxiety in getting the code necessary for a late arrival. (Local people excellent when contacted.) BAD MISTAKE with charging: the central office accidentally charged our credit card twice. Fixed, with apology -- but a worry and hassle.
Review 48:Clean, everything quite new. Safe, quiet, convenient. Apartment in excellent condition. Small (as advertised) but very well-used and well-planned space. Very efficient staff on site with minimum amount of fuss over check in and check out. Swimming pool nice. Family-oriented.
Review 49:Pool was only open 9am to 7pm - longer would have been good. The double bed was very uncomfortable, but our three children slept well. We requested more pillows, but they took over a day to be delivered (we had to remind reception). Reception was closed for two hours over lunch, and closed at 7pm, which proved inconvenient on a couple of occasions. There is no cooker in the kitchenette, only a microwave and a hob. Although we got a special deal for our mini-break, with all the supplements one had to pay (for wifi, linen etc), it still wasn't cheap.
Review 50:Great location, nice swimming pool. The logement was reasonably clean. There were some very nice restaurants nearby (Bistrot du Port, Le P'tit Mousse), and staff were generally helpful and polite. Hot water was plentiful.
Review 51:Room next to the swimming pool - very noisy Mattress very hard & small Paid WiFi
Review 52:Great location, nearby the village & the Normandy beaches. Apartment contained all that was needed.
Review 53:No toaster No oven, though knew this when we booked
Review 54:Layout and style of apartment Cleanliness of apartment and site Pool Location - can walk to Juno, short drive to other D-day sites
Review 55:Pillows very flat. A small shop on the site selling basics like milk would have been useful, (but we did find the Carrefour eventually!)
Review 56:Peaceful location, balcony was good size to eat out on. Kitchen well equipped. Bed was comfortable. Pool was good
Review 57:Very new facilities in superb condition. Great location; quiet and walking distance from the city center. Centrally located to explore the Normandy beaches
Review 58:- it is a very low budget accomodation, where one has to pay for everything extra - the place has no character - weak/no WiFi, not complimentary either
Review 59:- value for money - good location, close to WW2 beaches
Review 60:We are Canadian, and if I didn't have a phone, it would have been impossible to check in, since I had to use a cell to call. I am told that the double bed was uncomfortable. The extra fees were confusing, but as of yet, I have not been charged for using the sheets, towels or anything.
Review 61:It was very clean, had everything we needed and was very close (we came to visit Juno beach). We arrived late and a simple phone call told us how to get our keys. It was easy walking distance to eat and to Juno Beach, and I personally thought my bed was comfortable. The price was very reasonable for the area!
Review 62:The instruktions on the apartment, cleaning and holydaycenter was only in french, and not avalible in english. If they watt other than french People to stay there, there Scould be guidelines in english.
Review 63:The main bedroom was a little like sleeping in a box.
Review 64:Location very good. Staff very helpful. Pet friendly.
Review 65:Leaving!!
Review 66:The helpful, friendly staff..especially Winnie on reception and Lee the safe instructor! Great location/facilities.
Review 67:No oven in kitchen reduced cooking options considerably.
Review 68:Excellent, helpful staff.
Review 69:Oh Dear Lord the beds were so uncomfortable.
Review 70:Staff were fantastic, everywhere was immaculate, accommodation was spacious and clean.
Review 71:Location
Review 72:WiFi was expensive and shockingly bad.
Review 73:Clean, functional, splendid location.
Review 74:I thought it was closer to the water than it was. Not a big deal
Review 75:Having access to both the pool and the laundry was helpful
Review 76:There was something for everyone. The kitchen was well equipped and enabled us to enjoy cooking in our little house.
Review 77:Bit cramped for a long stay in bedroom.
Review 78:Close to town. Good facilities. Good parking. Close to ferry Generally very happy
Review 79:Sea border not far away and the historical sites.
Review 80:nothing
Review 81:good base location for visiting other areas pleasant staff clean and comfortable.
Review 82:We were lacking iron and à toster. Could also be nice to have international news channel.
Review 83:Nice an clean.
Review 84:The opening houres of the reception are to limited.
Review 85:Good appartement, with little kitchen. Small but clean. The possibiliry of swimming in the pool.
Review 86:Swimming pool closed too early.
Review 87:The whole place had a nice relaxed ambience to it.
Review 88:Small Lack of space Noisy No character
Review 89:Nothing
Review 90:Nice facilities. Clean.
Review 91:No dishwasher detergent
Review 92:Great location Quite Comfortable Great facilities Porch/deck with view
Review 93:Wifi was slow and should be free.
Review 94:Very friendly staff and quite peaceful. It actually exceeded our expectations and we decided to stay an extra night. It's great for day trips to Bayeux and to the D Day beaches. We even did a day trip to. Mont St Michel
Review 95:Lack of opening times of reception Pool chemicals affected our eyes quite badly
Review 96:Privacy Quiet environment Location, walking distance to all amenities Pool and sundeck was always quiet
Review 97:no dishwasher tablets or dish cloth, easily purchased from reception would be nice to have with apartment.
Review 98:wonderfully clean apartment, kitchen well equipped, comfortable beds, colors used in apartment, kids loved the pool (also very clean). Perfect location for exploring Dday beaches, not too far from Caen.
Review 99:Parking lot had small spaces which were difficult to get in and out of and when it got busy people (mainly the French) parked over two slots which was inconsiderate but not the resorts fault!
Review 100:Pool was clean and small pool was great for little children. Within walking distance of restaurants and a good boulangerie.
Review 101:Minor issue, the pool times are 9am to 7pm. An hour earlier in the morning and an hour later in the evening would have been good.
Review 102:We had a very good 3 night stay. Great location with easy walking access to beaches and town (5 to 10 minutes). We stayed in a an apartment that would sleep up to 6 people, we were 2 adults and three children and had ample space, bed space would be a problem for 6 adults. Our apartment was clean and well stocked with cocking utensils. Towels and bedding were supplied, bring your own towels for pool & beach. We stayed at the end of May, outside of French school holiday time, so the place was very quiet and there was no issue around the car parking and the locals taking two spaces.
Review 103:The sofa beds in the kitchen/lounge area for the children. They weren't very comfortable and were rather small.
Review 104:Lots of families were staying in the park. There was a pool, playground and space for children to kick the football. Good location, close to WW2 sites and Normandy.
Review 105:As others have commented, we needed to bring toilet paper, dish washing liquid and coffee filters. Mattresses were very hard. The changing room to the pool was small and could not handle more than 6 or so people at a time. When the pool closed and several families were trying to get dressed, it was a ridiculous nightmare!
Review 106:Great location a few minutes walk from Juno Beach. We loved the indoor pool and found the apartment clean, well-stocked and comfortable. We would stay here again!
Review 107:The swimming pool would be far better if the changing facilities had capacity for more people to use. Also could you enforce a better parking regime please-some of the parking was abysmal and completely lacking in any thought for other residents eg taking up two spaces with a small car-it is not that difficult to park in a considerate manner!!
Review 108:The house we stayed in was excellent. It was well designed, well equipped, clean and an ideal size for a family of four. The location was also excellent for walking access to the town and D-Day beach but also for car access to the other sites of interest such as Bayeaux. The whole site was well maintained and clean
Review 109:what we didn't like was the bedroom and bed were very small it was very difficult to walk round the bed as it was almost touching the walls also wardrobe in lounge having to get dressed in the lounge. luckily only the two of us any more people it would have been even more difficult
Review 110:the position and the accommodation was very good and so was the pool and the staff
Review 111:Did not like dogs being allowed to stay in apartments, especially when settee is also used as sofa bed, and also dog fouling in grounds. Cold showers all week in swimming pool changing room, and only 1 private changing room. Double bed was hard (and a little short in length), and bedroom was small.
Review 112:Accommodation ok, although cleaning could be improved (dust on shelves, kitchen utensils/appliances sticky etc). Apartment ok for 2 people maybe not for 4. Pool ok, although can get crowded. Sunbeds were comfortable. Courseulles is a small town, nice marina, but only a few desirable restaurants, we just about managed to eat at a different one each night (although 2 of them poor).
Review 113:That i need to buy things to clean the kitchen from hotel. At least dishwashing, mop clean tools have to be included.
Review 114:Location, pool for children and playground
Review 115:No towel, no bath carpet in the shower. Room is really small, can't even put the small luggage in the room.
Review 116:The swimming pool was nice. Good for long stay, but not for short time.
Review 117:No spoons and forks in the room! Very little toilet paper! Reservation had not been registered (in two days)! C village is not really tourist friendly (unless kicking out of restaurant is a sign of friendliness). Very small check-in window... difficult for long-haul visitors.
Review 118:Tidy and clean, essentially what was promised. Location OK (purpose of the trip was to see WW II sites & Bayeux).
Review 119:The bed and position of the bedroom. The bedroom is extremely tiny and at door entrance. The bed is very uncomfortable and pillows quality is very poor. My wife had to sleep on the sofa bed for having a decent sleep. We wanted to get home for having a night sleep back.
Review 120:I really liked the location, the swim mini pool and the clean and modern facilities. It's very close to centre-ville but in a very quiet and relaxing location. Balcony was used mostly everyday for breakfast and lunch/dinner.
Review 121:Wifi connection speed is a bit slow so if you have business stuff to follow upon, it might be a challenge.
Review 122:Staff very friendly. Our kids loved the swimming Pool...beach is pretty close. Location and general climate are awesome.
Review 123:the Ryanair of the hotel business: basic accomodation at an affordable but not really low price, any extras cost separately, no personal touch, but "clinically" clean, no restaurant, not in the center of town but in a new development, could be any country, don't expect "French flair"
Review 124:clean, indoor swimming pool, parking facilities, very safe for families with younger children
Review 125:In one bedroom apartment bedroom was too small, no room to walk. Bed comfort not that good. Foam mattress? Smell in bathroom meant that extractor fans were on all time.
Review 126:Clean modern apartments and facilities. Good access to town and attractions.
Review 127:Fantastic place!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We loved it, great facilities, near all the D-Day beaches. You just need to take towels and toilet paper, that are charged separetely.
Review 128:I see what others mean about parking. Although there are parking baylines. Don't expect the French to actually park in them. I findthere is still plenty of parking space tho. The only other gripe ishidden costs. Why don't they just put everything on the bill insteadyou find you pay more than the advert says.So what ever your bill is youwill find something added to it.
Review 129:Nice hosts clean and tidy. Very close to Juno Beach. Good base campto see all the beach's From, managed to get to all. Lovely viewfrom 2st floor balcony. Seen Fireworks display from Juno Beach sat onmy balcony
Review 130:The mattress was unreasonably firm. The towels cost extra. No provision of a dish cloth or tea towels, which seemed strange considering that they provided pretty well every other convenience for the kitchen, including a salad spinner!
Review 131:The location was convenient and the price was quite reasonable.
Review 132:The beds were hard. Didn't like making my own bed upon arrival and removing the bedding before leaving. Towels and some basic kitchen items (tea towel and dish soap) should be provided at no additional cost. Pool should be open later than 7 pm.
Review 133:good accommodation that suited our group very well based on space, value and location.
Review 134:Two snotty workers at the registration desk. One of them only seemed toobserve the other and was totally unhelpful. The other was only able toregurgitate printed information. Basic necessities such as towels arenot included. We had to pay 6 Euros to rent a small and a medium towel. No dish cloths, no dish or dishwasher soap, no toaster, no toilet paper,no access to the in-room safe without extra charges. None of this wasclear at booking. Wonky Internet access that did not work half the time(also for a fee). Impossible to get only dish soap - they sell only apackage that included a bunch of stuff we did not want. The beds areessentially camping mats - extremely uncomfortable. We had to make ourown beds and the sheets provided did not fit the mattresses. Theyprovide only one flat sheet and one pillowcase per person and a duvetcover. The duvet cover was too small and the flat sheet did not fit themattress properly. These details gave us the impression that themanagement is out to gouge customers. For the same price, we got waybetter value practically everywhere else in Normandy and Brittany. Thelaundry facilities were available when we were there because the placewas operating at about 10% capacity, judging from the number of cars inthe lot. However, there is only one washer and dryer for a large numberof units. The pool area was filthy and there was a gross puddle of slimywater right at the entrance to the pool area that one had to wadethrough. This led us to conclude that the pool itself could not be veryclean so we did not use it.
Review 135:Close proximity to the D-day beaches with modern design and parking onsite. The appliances that were included (coffee maker, kettle, fridge, hot plate) worked. There was a dishwasher included but we did not useit. Might be appropriate for families traveling with towels, sheets, toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Laundry facilities are available.
Review 136:We have only one negative remark. We didn`t know that one has to pay fortoilet paper and towels and the site booking.com didn`t write anythingabout that. It was quite surprising for us. Check-in closed exactly at19.00, so be aware when you are late.
Review 137:Good location, clear and big rooms. Nice buildings, free parking.
Review 138:Disappointed with the internet connection. I bought the three day package and I enjoyed it maybe for 30 minutes. The service was not available. The staff wasn't helpful at all. After my complains I received only a phone number where I should have called. The other thing was parking lot. It was packed with the cars and nobody cared about the space so you could see the cars parked on two spots. Although, the parking lot is rather big, it was very difficult to find the free spot at the evening. But being frank it was not staff fault but a very French custom to disregard some rules.
Review 139:The place is nice and close to Juno Beach. My kids enjoyed the swimming pool but because it was closed at 7 PM we could not use it much.
Review 140:You have to go out to go to the pool and there is not really a good space to change by the pool. So when it's cold you end up running in your towel or freeze.
Review 141:The pool is very nice and warm, with big windows to the outside. The village is lovely, with lots of good restaurants at a walking distance. The possibility of ordering pastries for breakfast was also excellent.
Review 142:Very Clean
