Reviews for Les Jardins de Cassis
Review 1:First room was small and not ideal for a six day stay. However as soon as we mentioned to the Reception staff they were very helpful and changed us to a larger room for the rest of our stay.
Review 2:Views, garden and surrounds were excellent.
Review 3:Nothing bad bad. Heard the other desk clerk go off on someone on the phone because the clerk's English wasn't great.
Review 4:Sophie at the front desk was awesome. Excellent English, very pleasant and cheery and extremely helpful.
Review 5:Rooms were small. There was no minibar. Shower head could not be hung. There was little light. We were kicked out at 11.00 which was a bit early compared to our late night arrival. Value for money low.
Review 6:OK hotel with motel like rooms.
Review 7:Not a bad experience, but hotel is at the top of a long steep hill and a longish walk from any restaurants. Hotel advertises snacks at lunchtime, but on the occasion we tried, the reception counter was unmanned for over an hour, so we gave up.
Review 8:Nice pool area. Clean & comfortable room. Good value.
Review 9:The lunch was extremely uninspiring and poor value for money. However, I discovered a patisserie up the road and went there for breakfast and take away sandwiches for lunch.
Review 10:The staff were so friendly and helpful. I loved the hotel and the pool.
Review 11:Can be a little difficult to get to without a car. The bus from the train station doesn't really stop nearby - it's best to take a taxi. Although if travelling with backpacks, the walk to/from the station would be fine, about 20 mins.
Review 12:Most of the staff were quite friendly and helpful. Nice, quiet surrounds, and the pool is great in summer! Aircon in the room worked well too.
Review 13:There was a staff member right at the end before I left and hours after I checked out who was a little cold. I came to collect my bag and she didn't know who I was. I had to tell her that I needed to pick up my bag, even though Pascal promised that someone would expect me to come and collect the bag.
Review 14:I liked the friendly staff member including Pascal who was very welcoming the night I arrived. The female staff members who I met were lovely. The pool was very peaceful. The bathroom was very modern.
Review 15:They made an error in our bill and charged the wrong room rate and charged us for the difference after we had already settled up, taking the money out of our credit card the day after our stay. We were not happy about this, as it was their mistake and our loss.
Review 16:The pool, the bathroom and the breakfast.
Review 17:Dirty floor, towels and pillow cases. The terrrace has not been swept at all. This is the only hotel (out of the 5 where we stayed) where there was no summer duvet but just a sheet and throw. No table in the room at which to write, just a small side table. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room (must ask for a jug of hot water from the bar).
Review 18:Great swimming pool, comfortable loungers, nice set up of the facilities, outside terrace, nice surroundings, convenient car parking, spacious room.
Review 19:Indifferent veering on unfriendly staff. Unwilling to put out umbrellas at pool because it was too windy (on a slightly breezy day). No access to bar-fridge or ice/ice-bucket. Steep 10-15 minute walk to town.
Review 20:Large private room with terrace and beautiful (deep) pool.
Review 21:I had to walk up hills about 15 minutes from the port&beach. It's not very close to the beach, but it can be accepted with this price. Hotels in Cassis are very expensive, especially in summer!
Review 22:I booked a room for 3 persons. I like that the room has a table and chairs in the garden, which we can use for a small wine party at night. There's a swimming pool small but cozy. It has own parking place for guests.
Review 23:No tea or coffee facilities in room, uphill walk (15 mins) from town/beach.
Review 24:We were given a free upgrade to a room with a balcony. Pool was great! Staff were friendly
Review 25:There was no room number on our room so we spent 10 minutes wandering the grounds trying to find it. The room itself was clean but incredibly sparse. The lock to get into the room was the most horrible invention ever made. There is no shallow end in the pool, which made swimming with kids difficult, as I am only 5 feet tall and the shallowest part was 5'5".
Review 26:The setting was a nice bungalow-types set up.
Review 27:I've enjoyed MANY excellent complimentary breakfasts in hotels. This breakfast lacked fresh fruit, eggs, anything heated and water, yet it cost 14 euros. Disappointing.
Review 28:Wifi required a passcode per each equipment so I needed 3 passcode a - phone, computer, and kindle. Same for my daughter. That was a waste of time.
Review 29:Setting and room with terrace.
Review 30:The only down side was that there is no restaurant available at the hotel. Also rooms with terraces are up a number of stairs which may not be suitable for everyone.
Review 31:Staff spoke both French and English and were very helpful. The room was a good size and the bed the most comfortable I have ever slept in at a hotel. Parking available and a good size pool. We had a room with a terrace which was perfect in the hot weather. Good size shower and toiletries replenished daily.
Review 32:The staff were so helpful and spoke wonderful English. They were able to help us with the train schedules for our travels. The room was adorable and even though there was not a view of the ocean the hotel was very quaint and we had a nice balcony.
Review 33:Many of the rooms are set in the beautiful garden with a nice terrace with furniture so you have privacy and space. An excellent sized outdoor pool with relaxing loungers . The walk into the centre takes 15-20 minutes down the hill so could be physically challenging on the return but lovely views if you can do it. Nice breakfast with a good variety and would definitely recommend this hotel and it's helpful staff who were happy to let you park of use the pool even after checking out.
Review 34:The room was in the trees so received no sun. There was a coating of yellow dustlike pollen everywhere.
Review 35:The room was well equipped and located. The climb out of town to the hotel was welcome after a heavy meal
Review 36:Night clerk was not nice, bed was not overly comfortable and the hotel was further from town than expected but not unreasonable to walk there
Review 37:Clean hotel with secure parking
Review 38:Premiere room but no view, dirty and very tired. Outside light did not work and toilet seat was loose. Very long uphill walk from the down. Expensive and poor value breakfast.
Review 39:Swimming pool Reception Staff
Review 40:It's quite a distance from the town and there is a very steep hill to walk back up to the hotel. Also the breakfast was extremely expensive
Review 41:The hotel was really lovely. Quiet, lovely pool, comfortable rooms. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable
Review 42:No refrigerators in the room - bad for self catering (no meals but breakfast available at the hotel). The breakfast was standard/continental. 14€ per day/person was not exactly cheap, but good and sufficient (bread, cheese, salami, jam, self boiled eggs, toast, fruit, muesli, cornflakes, coffee). The mini bar by the reception desk was quite expensive (3€ for a small water). In the course of booking I'd written a message in English to the Hotel that I am allergic to cow's milk and therefore requested soy milk for breakfast. I never received an answer and there was no soy milk. It could not be promised there would be any for the next days (breakfast staff not very helpful), so I bought some at the supermarket and stowed it into the refrigerator by the reception desk, where i had to pick it up and return it every morning. That was a bit uncomfortable.
Review 43:The hotel is really charming and has groundfloor apartments in a nice garden. We had a table and wooden armchairs in front of our room. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool is 10m long and +1,60m deep and ok to take a swim (I go swimming nearly every morning and feared the pool would be too small). The Hotel is a 10 min downhill walk from the centre of Cassis.
Review 44:Our room was fairly small with no shutters, I think this was just the upstairs rooms as other rooms looked large with little patio areas- not a big deal as we didn't spend much time in room anyway but we like the darkness of the shutters. A few changes for the future: a mini fridge in the room especially for drinks. We would stay here again but if you don't like walking this hotel may not be for you as the hotel is in top of a hill and it takes about 10 minutes down and up a fairly steep hill.
Review 45:The staff were very helpful and could give advice about local area. The pool area was great and you could have wifi anywhere in hotel which is convenient. The shower room was perfect, as once you check out you can use this.
Review 46:A bit far from the centre of Cassis but did not really hamper our stay as we had a car
Review 47:we liked the separate locations and the balcony, quiet except for the cicado beetles, nice garden and good breakfast
Review 48:Room layout. Bathroom had no shower. Easy to trip on uneven floor. Staff didn't show us amenities, convenience lounge. No window in unit, except for in door.
Review 49:The pool.
Review 50:the rooms need a larger desk to put things, maybe some more chairs too. Free internet should be available for every room.
Review 51:The swimmingpool is superb for a family with kids. The playground with table tennis is fine as well. Kind and helpful staff.
Review 52:The walk into town is definitely 10-15 minutes in and a good 20 minutes back up as advertised. Some reviewers have flagged this as a problem. We didn't have a problem with it and enjoyed the "challenge" - it was a good family exercise.
Review 53:The hotel pool is fantastic - very large and deep. There is no shallow end so suitable only for swimmers/kids who can tread water. Parking is ample and great in an otherwise crowded and tight little town. Nice and quiet and well sheltered from the busy street. The staff were very friendly and helpful, although there aren't many of them and they are doing double duty covering reception and the pool area.
Review 54:We had a basic room which did not have a window. It was hot at night, so we had to keep the door open at night or sleep with the air conditioner on (which was a little disruptive for me). If you stay here get upgrade to a better room with a balcony. Breakfast is nice but a little over priced.
Review 55:The pool was great. The hotel felt secluded and quiet. Staff were very helpful too. It was genuinely relaxing. Most of the other guests were great to meet as well.
Review 56:I felt that the place was very tired. The garden was in need of an overhaul, the pool area was lacklustre. And my room was only just fair. It had double doors and then some wooden shutters but offered no privacy.
Review 57:Too far from the port and not easy to drive into. No view.
Review 58:Lovely grounds and pool. Good facilities and great staff.
Review 59:Lovely bar area ruined by level of service.
Review 60:Great little resort. Easy parking, good wifi. Receptionist who welcomed us was friendly and helpful.
Review 61:A shuttle service to and from the train station would have been great.
Review 62:Very helpful night receptionist.
Review 63:Great location not too far to walk to town but it is a bit of a descent but it works off dessert.
Review 64:The grounds are very nice around the courtyard and pool area.
Review 65:Room was not very clean. The floor was bit dusty.
Review 66:We had some issue with the car and stuff helped us.
Review 67:It may be a brisk 10 mins trot down into town but its a serious 20+ mins slog back up the hill
Review 68:Nice pool area
Review 69:Attendance of staff quite superb
Review 70:Fantastic pool, friendly staff, comfortable .Plenty of space around the pool, seats etc. Some of the access paths to the rooms were too wobbly.
Review 71:wifi works great; room is pretty spacious, and clean.
Review 72:- Far away from town (how to do without a car..?) - Unwelcoming, road-facing room
Review 73:The pool
Review 74:A bit out of the way if you haven't got a hire car, also there is road noise
Review 75:Very clean, bright with lovely swimming pool area
Review 76:Long walk into town and back
Review 77:Nice large suite
Review 78:10 minute walk to cassis port. Clean and comfortable room.
Review 79:Not having the breakfast included. More variety from the food at least chips!
Review 80:Location, gardens and the depth of the pool
Review 81:No fridge in room, weak air-conditioning, Too far up-hill from port.
Review 82:Good swimming pool
Review 83:Wi-fi intermitent Location not great for Port
Review 84:Staff Can do
Review 85:The hill, the cost of breakfast, the room terrace area was disappointing.
Review 86:The pool in the morning and afternoon sun.
Review 87:nothing
Review 88:pool cassis
Review 89:Great little hidden gem with walking access to the center of Cassis and the beach.
Review 90:Unfriendly staff
Review 91:Location close to the port of Cassis
Review 92:Tons of smokers
Review 93:Very pleasing staff.
Review 94:Our room was rustic and situated in garden with private terrace which we liked. Swimming pool immaculate. Quiet hotel with lovely garden.
Review 95:Room was a bit small, breakfast expensive compared with the town.
Review 96:Really nice pool area and very clean. Friendly staff.
Review 97:Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 98:The mattresses need upgrading.
Review 99:Very nice breakfast!
Review 100:Lacks facilities for handicap people. Ramps and easiness to access areas
Review 101:Room was nice and breakfast good
Review 102:Being just a comfortable walk from the harbor area made this an excellent choice for us. God value for the money.
Review 103:Cleanliness
Review 104:Location
Review 105:noisy on night two...guests talking loudly in courtyard
Review 106:size of room and bathroom, bath tub, pretty courtyard, very quiet the first night
Review 107:It's a long walk to the center of town
Review 108:Good value for Cassis
Review 109:Dissapointing breakfast, rather overpriced out of season, difficult wi fi connection
Review 110:Helpful reception, easy parking, clean room.
Review 111:Nothing
Review 112:Very helping and nice receptionnists(day and night shift!)
Review 113:Mattresses gave me back pain... Very expensive breakfast but that is normal on South France in General
Review 114:Swimming pool Big room
Review 115:Walls are think so heard lots next door. Breakfast is OK.
Review 116:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool is spectacular.
Review 117:expense breakfast
Review 118:room nbr 10
Review 119:Distance from the harbour. The steep climb keeps you fit.
Review 120:Very helpful and friendly staff
Review 121:We had an amazing time! We want to come back soon!
Review 122:Our suite had 2 balconies and lots of room. The pool and cafe area were lovely. The kids loved the ping-pong and mini-soccer field.
Review 123:Pool
Review 124:A little far from restaurants and shops, but it was a nice walk back every day.
Review 125:The hotel was nicely tucked away and felt very private. Our room was very clean with a private balcony.
Review 126:Some of the staff were amazing -- very accommodating. Other members of the staff were surprisingly rude. The breakfast is WAY overpriced. Recommend skipping breakfast and going to the adjacent boulangerie, which is 1 min walking distance. Parking is also difficult. There is onsite parking, but when the hotel is full, the parking lot fills up.
Review 127:Very clean and comfortable. Lovely setting and the pool was wonderful. The location to the centre ville was good. Takes 10 min to walk down and about 20 min to walk back up the steep hill. Enjoyed having coffee and wine available for purchase at the hotel, but was overpriced.
Review 128:Generally tired facility.
Review 129:No wifi in the rooms. It was necessary to go to the reception area to get wifi. They say the the wifi is under repair but can't remember how long it's been under repair. Wifi is something that we look for when we are booking a room. Jardins continues to advertise that it has wifi although this hasn't been true for sometime apparently, unless they mean in the reception area only.
Review 130:I have difficuilty in walking so we took a taxi for dinner. After dinner we could not get a taxi.......evidentlyi they do not run afer 8pmn. (someone took pity on us and drove ius.) Also the hot tub was warm - about 80 - 90..... should be about 103
Review 131:The room was very plain and bland. Need better bed sheets and comforter and pillows. The tv remote barely worked. The bathroom towels were very small and thin.
Review 132:The bathroom was very clean with updated sink and shower. The wifi was great especially being free.
