Reviews for Kyriad Chambéry Centre - Hôtel et Résidence
Review 1:All was good
Review 2:Very center of town: 5 mins to Elephants, 10 mins to Castle, 7 mins to shopping street. Reasonable price for the location. We had kitchen in our apartment, but the hotel also provided breakfast.
Review 3:Breakfast area a little cramped for number of hotel guests but had a nice breakfast Over a 7 day stay, towels should be changed more regular than just once.
Review 4:Well located hotel next to the old town. Everything within walking distance Attic rooms large and spacious with kitchen facilities Underground parking not too expensive Reception staff very helpful
Review 5:I was travelling in a high vehicle so could not use the secure parking provided. I had to park 300m away in town which was tricky. That's not a complaint, though - it's a consequence of the hotel being well situated in the centre of a busy town.
Review 6:Clean, comfortable and convenient - there's nothing not to like. The room facilities are very good and the hotel is spotlessly clean.
Review 7:Parking of the hotel is in the nearby garage. Tip: always rent a small car if you want to fit in your designated parking spot. Never order the Snack Pack offered in your room - you will get frozen pasta (that "small" detail is not mentioned in the offer)
Review 8:The location is great, just in the center.
Review 9:a bit difficult to turn the car around in front of the hotel to drive around the block into underground parking, kitchen was interesting but we did not really need it
Review 10:Friendly and competent receptionist who changed our room when we complained the first one smells of garlic, nice bed, nice bathroom, a short stroll from town centre, underground parking
Review 11:The hotel is easy to find and very close to the historical centre. There is secure parking. The staff are friendly, very efficient and helpful. The rooms are of a higher standard than expected with a small kitchen. We appreciated the fact there are tea and coffee making facilities.
Review 12:Because it was late booking we were on the top floor. I would have preferred a less sloping roof, but no greatly important.
Review 13:Good central location with easy access t restaurants etc. Very comfortable room with lots of space and good amenities.
Review 14:Wifi was terrible, didn't work while we were there. Air-conditioning would be nice as very hot in summer.
Review 15:Staff were great, location was excellent and the hotel had a really nice feel to it. We were there during the World Rowing Championships so very busy and I think maybe why wifi was not very good. Definitely recommend this place.
Review 16:Nothing to complain about.
Review 17:Everything okay. Clean room, fully equipped (including water boiler, tea bags and nescafe, small kitchen, slippers, etc.). Bathroom new and very good. Location very good, close to city center. They also have a seperate bicycle storage room.
Review 18:The toilet it's in a place and the bathroom in another place. The toilet was looking dirty like it wasn't cleaned for long.
Review 19:The place of the hotel was ok.
Review 20:There was a lot of room, but no where to put anything. No drawers anywhere. Nothing on which to put a suitcase. A room for two with a kitchenette., a table, and only one chair, and a broken one at that. I guess only one person is supposed to eat at a time. The wifi was free, but it was so slow as to be useless.
Review 21:Good location, spacious room, pleasant reception. Hans was especially friendly and helpful.
Review 22:Kitchen utensils had not been properly cleaned upon arrival - rectified immediately by staff. WiFi poor.
Review 23:Accommodating staff, quiet and comfortable. Complaint addressed immediately. Convenient access to the old town and to train station. Pleasant walk from the hotel along the hillside to Rousseau's maison.
Review 24:The place is like students housing , low quality elevator, no free parkings , only paid parking available where you have to put a new ticket every two hours, the value of money is exaggerated, with no comfortable bed and as they told me in the reception desk " it's never like the picture"
Review 25:The place is like students housing. Nothing much to be liked truly.
Review 26:Dustmen collected bottles at about 5 in the morning.
Review 27:Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, just what you need after a 9 hour drive ( waited 2 hours at the Frejus Tunnel ).
Review 28:It was intended as simply a stopover on a long journey but turned out to be a most enjoyable experience. The hotel was great in all respects with really friendly staff and the location was wonderful. I find it a huge advantage to be able to book a parking space. The nearby Atelier restaurant, (one of the hotel's partners), was excellent. I will make a point of staying there next time I drive through France.
Review 29:- Toilet is separate from bathroom!?!? How disgustingly unsanitary is that! Think about the door handles (aside from the inconvenience). For a country that invented the bidet, it's quite disappointing. - Hypocrisy in making client sign a contract about not smoking, cleaning, breaking things, ESPECIALLY when there were damaged things in the room (front desk informed, and nothing was done about it - lamp shade, toilet). The room was NOT very clean (kitchen floor sticky), and there was someone smoking on our floor.
Review 30:Fridge Bed TV Location
Review 31:Would have been good to have at least a ceiling fan, air-conditioning a bonus, as we had to shut the very effective soundproof doors, due to noise from the bar below. This made the room very hot, so a ceiling fan would have made all the difference.
Review 32:Great location, friendly staff, spacious room with small kitchenette.
Review 33:Occasional breakdown in wifi provision
Review 34:Comfort, practicalities, proximity of town centre and above all the staff who were all very pleasant and efficient.
Review 35:The wifi was not always stable and went off at times.
Review 36:The efficiency and friendliness of the staff who were very helpful at all times. They contributed to a great stay.
Review 37:Wifi is terrible. Especially, in the evening the speed is extremly slow.I was planning to work which was nearly impossible. It took me have anhour to receive my emails. The phone reception is bad either and wasntan alternate way to get internet access.
Review 38:Modern business hotel
Review 39:It was really hot in the room, no air conditioning or fan. Rooms are very small. Internet reception was really poor. We were told we had to clean our cups of tea in the room, otherwise we'd be charged extra money!
Review 40:Very good location, friendly staff
Review 41:The otherwise helpful and kind staff acknowledged the poor WiFi as something that just is what it is. It was not available on the fourth floor at all.
Review 42:A nice location near many restaurants. Clean and fairly modern. We appreciated the garage.
Review 43:Only gripe was weak wifi signal... but then we were on holiday. Its not such a bad thing.
Review 44:Friendly helpful staff. Extremely clean. Good breakfast and small fitness room was appreciated.
Review 45:The rather odd shape of the room. Not enough light. The bulbs were too dim and there wasn't one near the table.
Review 46:The staff was very helpful. The English speaking ones had a good command of the language.
Review 47:The wifi was poor but that may of been due to the hotel being full with the World Rowing Champs.
Review 48:Location, Service, bathroom and yhe reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Great stay.
Review 49:Breakfast was good but not very generous in its range of choices fir the price.
Review 50:Made to feel very welcome. The hotel has been modernised to a high standard and the rooms are perfect for self catering. Great for a few days visiting Chambery.
Review 51:The reception staff not friendly at all. One particular lady seemed very bothered by my 2 year old. You'd think she could at least hide it! The kitchenette was not well equiped and even if the hotel advertise some rooms as apartments there are only bigger rooms with a narrow wall in between that doesn't separate the space all the way.
Review 52:The location was right in the middle of the town.
Review 53:design of separate toilet - no hand washing facility in toilet, room not ready on arival, distance from station and absence of bus service on Sunday
Review 54:modern,comfortable,
Review 55:The room had no bath though they thought it had one (the computer) and had allmost no rooms and fresh air.... Seemed like staying in a closet.
Review 56:Everything was newly furnished.
Review 57:After a long drive from Calais to find a room with such a high level of comfort & facilities was extremely pleasing. Staff on reception were very helpful. Location was good as well for sightseeing & being close to a number of bars / restaurants.
Review 58:Only down side was no air con... it was mid 30 degrees outside and had a huge storm overnight and because we were on the top floor with velux windows in the roof, we couldn't have the windows open without having a swimming pool in the room... stifling!
Review 59:This hotel is in an excellent location in the centre of an amazing town and is within 5 mins walk of plenty of excellent restaurants, bars and shops. The rooms are clean, good size and have good kitchen area. The car park is under ground and just about took my Mercedes Vito in which is 1.92m tall.
Review 60:The photos on booking.com look much better than how the actualroom/apartment looked. I had reserved a space for parking my car, prior to my arrival (at the time of my booking) but upon arrival theysaid "the car park is full" so I had to go to a public carpark which is not close by in the heat of July. The wifi was terrible.Apparently it depends on the floor you are in. Mine was the 4th floor.Do not stay here in the summer months. There is no airconditioning andthe ventilation is really poor. I couldn't sleep for the 2 nights Istayed. Every 2 hours I will wake up from the sweating and dampness ofmy skin. I considered changing hotel but since I was on a business trip,my day was too long to find an alternative for the second day. The staffcouldn't give me an appropriate solution for my problems. Overall, very disappointed.
Review 61:Not much.
Review 62:room didn't have air con, was really really hot, there was one powerful fan, but as we had 2 beds, it wasn't enough, we should have asked for an extra fan.
Review 63:Location good to walk to city centre. Staff helpful and kind. Wifi was good. Parking is convenient, it's pay public car park. Didn't try their breakfast.
Review 64:No air-conditioning and no fans available in the units- although the staff had the use of one in reception! Lack of air-conditioning was a MAJOR problem and had a hugely negative impact on our stay
Review 65:Location and self-catering facilities were good.
Review 66:Since we went in the summer a airco is a must which this hotel doesnt have.
Review 67:Nice rooms. Perfect for the winter with heaters. Big parking lot nearby where you can park for 8 euro's a day.
Review 68:In hot weather they really need air con. Our family room was in the loft and in 30 plus degree heat it would have been unbearable. Thankfully it rained!
Review 69:The location could not have been better. It was also clean and had everything we expected for fantastic value.
Review 70:Extremely hot room. No air at all. It was our bad luck with the intense heat weather with AC. the worst night in our life. We were about to pay and leave to other hotel. Not recommended 8n summer
Review 71:Good winter hotel
Review 72:As it was so hot we really needed air-conditioning and the window wasn't big enough to let in much air = hot night! Also we were misinformed on arrival that we would be able to pay for our stay on departure in cash. When I tried to pay at 9am, I was told my card had already been debited and the process could not be reversed. I was not happy about that and have never encountered this when sung booking.com before.
Review 73:Good directions to hotel, good room facilities, pleasant staff, good bathroom.
Review 74:Situated in the centre of Chamberry this hotel offers very good self catering facilities in a spacious room with a view of the mountains beyond the town
Review 75:It could do with air conditioning and if you didn't pre-book your parking then you had no alternative than to park in a public car park away from the hotel at the normal rate.
Review 76:Chambery is delightful and the hotel was clean, centrally positioned but very hot!
Review 77:It was very hot and there was no air conditioning. We had to keep the windows open, and there was a noisy bar around the corner that kept us up until it closed. Spartan furnishings, rug needed cleaning.
Review 78:Location was good, and it was nice to have underground parking.
Review 79:Despite offering car park facilities, reservations couldn't be made until booking done and then there was no guarantee of a space! Rude male concierge there clearly didn't like bikers as we were informed that "bikes were forbidden" from their car park anyway! This statement was later retracted by him but he did state the car park was full although it was empty everytime we looked through the doors!!! Closest parking was a block away! Male concierge was generally unhelpful and condescending in attitude. Other staff were fine. Our "superior double room" didn't have air-con or even a fan so the heat was unbearable.
Review 80:Good location. Incredibly helpful staff in the pub next door to the hotel.
Review 81:There was no air conditioning which made our stay very uncomfortable. We had to sleep with open windows and during the heatwave we were bitten by mosquitoes in bed.
Review 82:Nice, modern hotel with good facilities
Review 83:Couldn't connect to the "free wifi", and no way to control room temperature. (Heat wave, so probably not an issue most of the year).
Review 84:Great location in a nice little town.
Review 85:The hotel was in the midst of renovations. Power tools reverberated throughout the hotel during the day. The 'free' wifi required that we provide an email address and agree to unspecified T&Cs, and then didn't connect. Unacceptable!
Review 86:A well equipped Aparthotel in a good location.
Review 87:Being lectured on the use of the kitchenette. Being made to sign a form re such usage even though we told her we had no intention of using it
Review 88:Nearness to city center
Review 89:We were greeted warmly by the staff. Giving good information around the area. A few of Halal restaurant nearby. Room is clean and nice. Comfortable bed.
Review 90:Not enough private parking 12 spaces for a hotel this size is not really good as we were with 2 motorcycles we had to park on the street as did other motorcycle guests which is not ideal .. We were given alternative secure parking but I checked and no security was present just a camera and was not near hotel
Review 91:I liked the staff at the reception were very nice and helpful..the rooms where big and clean .location was great good for going out as you was very central to nightlife .
Review 92:We were in a "superior" room, which was actually a studio flat. It was a big room, but the sloping ceilings rendered much of it unusable. It was supposed to be able to accommodate four people, but even as a couple there was nowhere convenient to put our cases. There was minimal storage space for clothes, as half of the wardrobe contained a hot water tank. We managed to sit on one side of the dining table, but the ceiling made it impossible to sit on the other. There were quite good cooking facilities, but the cupboard was so high that we couldn't reach much of the crockery - for reference, I'm 5'6" with quite long arms and my husband is about 5'9".
Review 93:The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is only a short walk from the Old Town.
Review 94:A question to Hoteliers- when you know your Hotel, why would you place a senior couple (65) in a room,(509 or any of your street front rooms) which is subjected to the Bar next door? Our first night was without sleep due to the Bar Patron's and the respective noise!
Review 95:Staff helpfulness, location, great to have a kitchen!
Review 96:Plastic drinking glasses at odds with sustainable practice brochure; extra pillows would have been nice; lack of comfortable seating; quite tight space in room, more tea bags (although this seems to be a French thing ;-)
Review 97:Laundry facilities available, basic gym, location handy, kitchen facilities very good if very cramped
Review 98:Wifi was a non-starter on the first attempt but worked the following morning.
Review 99:Facilities and cleanliness have improved since Kyriad took this place over.
Review 100:The receptionist was so helpful, professional and spoke perfect English. She understands the meaning of hospitality and ensures clients are comfortable. The room we had was very large, well appointed and comfortable. We were only a few steps from the old town and the receptionist recommended a very good restaurant nearby which was also not too expensive. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Review 101:Welcoming and helpful staff. I noticed them helping many guests in multiple languages (French, English, & Italian). Our rooms were equal to many 4 star hotels.
Review 102:Nothing I can really complain about. I feel that we got all and more than expected in a 3 star hotel and the stay there was relatively inexpensive.
Review 103:Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the studio room was big with plenty space for ourselves and our 2 older teenage children. It was great to have a kitchenette with table and chairs. It saved us a lot of money as it was not necessary to always eat out
Review 104:It is a very, very, minor grippe, but it would be helpful to have had a drainer to place rises into when I had washed them
Review 105:The bedroom was large and airy with facilities for cooking and preparing own food. The location was convenient and the breakfast excellent choices for the money.
Review 106:The wifi was weak and kept dropping out. Could do with better parking and an in-house bar restaurant for the evening.
Review 107:Spacious room and modern furnishings. Very clean and comfortable.
Review 108:Lack of information in room about heating and tv. Fire alarm went off at about 7.20 a.m. for about 20 minutes owing to toast burning in breakfast room.
Review 109:Convenience for centre of town.
Review 110:Wi-fi was weak and slow. Did not match the rest of the Accomodation. Hot water cylinder in toilet could bump your head if tall / maybe cushion or put reflective tape on it? I just missed by good luck
Review 111:Shower room, lots of power points, small but effective kitchen, separate toilet, crisp design, good space, desk chair / overall a very practical and pleasant space with good fittings. Good restaurant advice from reception
Review 112:We arrived for breakfast an hour before the service ended and the hot food was all gone. When we asked if there was more cooking we were simply told 'No it's finished'. Therefore the hot drink and pastries were not great value for money. On our second stay we brought our own food and used the kitchenette in our room, which worked out fine.
Review 113:The hotel is in the perfect location for an overnight stay on the way to the French Alps. We liked it so much that we stayed on the way back too. The room was clean and spacious and the kitchenette was well equipped if needed. The hotel is next to a popular bar although noise was not a problem as the rooms are well insulated. There are restaurants in the town centre within 5 minutes walk.
Review 114:This hotel has been recently refurbished and is very comfortable. The rooms have dining, sleeping, and sitting areas and a well equipped small kitchenette which is useful for coffee/tea making if nothing else. The location is very close to many bars and restaurants. There is plenty of public car parking close by but the hotel has a number of underground parking places for added security as long as your car is normal height.
Review 115:It's very clean and brand new. The rooms are modern, complete with small kitchen and coffee/ tea facilities. It's a small walk to the city centre and great value for money.
Review 116:nothing much open in the town making it hard to get something to eat. But then France is generally closed on a Sunday!
Review 117:Helpful staff and free parking (only because it was Sunday though!)
Review 118:The wifi was poor. It was not possible to depend on. A coffee maker in the kitchenette would have made a difference.
Review 119:A very basic place to camp out for a couple of nights and recharge our energy. Chambery has a lovely old town with some very friendly people. Great little kitchenette.
Review 120:Parking needed to be booked in advance. Very poor wifi signals. Rooms are very different to each other. Some very new and modern. Some a bit older and tired.
Review 121:Everything was excellent. Great location for Halaal food (burgers etc.) Very comfortable hotel and very friendly staff. Only 30 minutes drive from La Fecla ski. Great for beginners and advanced skiers. Beautiful little town with all the local facilities. Must have snow chains.
Review 122:Parking bays were a bit narrow but great to have them. Having to vacate garage and then go back around block to return remote was a bit unusual.
Review 123:Parking. Location great.
Review 124:Room wasn't very clean - food on the floor in the kitchenette. There are lots of Arabs and kebab shops around the area.
Review 125:The WC is in a separate room to the shower. The room is spacious.
Review 126:The sofa bed wasn't very comfortable but ok for a couple of nights. Wi-fi was intermittent.
Review 127:The location is great the apartment had everything we needed.
Review 128:*The price of the parking. At €9 a day, we found this a bit expensive, especially since there are parking spots in the street along the hotel and on a square across from the hotel. You have to pay these from 9-12 am and from 2-7 pm. They are free after 7pm and the whole day on sunday. With €2,50 for 3 hours, these spots are cheaper than the parking of the hotel. The difference being, of course, that you need a bit of luck to find a spot here (especially when town is busy), when you can book the hotel parking in advance. But we did find a spot, and the hotel staff cancelled our booking for the hotel parking without any fuss. *The kitchenette is very small and basic. We were surprised at the size of the cooking pots; the room is only for 2, the kitchenette only suitable for preparing simple meals, but the pots were rather large, for 4-5 persons...
Review 129:*Excellent location, only 3 minutes walking to the pedestrian area of the city centre. *We stayed in a studio; very nice and quiet room on the top floor. The room was large but because of the slanted roof, it still felt cosy. We also loved the possibility to make our own (simple) dinner. The large shower and the separate toilet were also appreciated. *Friendly, helpful staff. *Good central heating (we stayed here in december). *Chambéry is a nice place, and also a good base for a trip to Lyon, which is just one hour driving down the road.
Review 130:The room was lacking a comfy chair.
Review 131:This was ideal for my purposes which were to have a place where I could cook simple meals thus saving money on restaurants. I was working and the location was perfect.
Review 132:The only issue we had was with car parking. There is a car park a short walk away but it is very busy and not easy to find a space.
Review 133:The staff were polite, helpful and spoke english. When asked them to recommend a restaurant, they suggested The Savoyard. The food there was delightful, not too expensive and just a short walk away.
Review 134:NOTHING
Review 135:Great space in the room with all facilities. Coffee and thee free. In the morning a very good breakfast. Very friendly staff. parking under the hotel.
Review 136:Nothing!
Review 137:Being able to stay so close to the centre of Chambery and being able to park securely there was a real positive. The small kitchenette had everything we needed to make a meal and the bed was very comfortable.
Review 138:Modern and clean. Kitchen facilities, new, and more than adequate Tea and coffee making facilities with complimentary biscuits.Very comfortable bed, pillows and duvets, all crisp and clean.
Review 139:The code to the parking garage changed the next day. Day receptionists did not inform us upon checkout when we were heading downstairs for the car. Had to go up again and ask for the code. Not much anticipation of the day receptionists.
Review 140:The size of the room and bathroom, convenient parking (9 EUR per day). Night shift receptionist was very helpful and service oriented.
