Reviews for Ty Mad

Review 1:Overpriced for the facilities offered, meal at dinner pretentious and overpriced

Review 2:Fascinatting building, interesting location, attractive dining area, beautiful views from the bedroom in which we stayed, good selection for breakfast

Review 3:They had a special meal on that night, which meant there was no real choice, so we ate elswhere. Had we known this in advance we would have probably stayed somewhere else. Also our room was right above the piano, whish was played most of the afternnon & evening.

Review 4:Nice friendly staff

Review 5:Room we booked through Booking.com had a glass bathroom in the room. Itwasn't fully enclosed and the toilet was in there. The hostesskindly moved us to a new room that would have been less expensive if wehad booked it on our own.

Review 6:Charming hostess, beautiful building, excellent restaurant.

Review 7:Fabulous location and a unique hotel. The best nights sleep we had. Food was superb and very French ( not a crepe in sight ). It's real hidden gem. Just fabulous.

Review 8:cramped room with a tiny shower/toilet cubicle; We booked the hotel with Booking.com 6 months in advanced asking for a double room accommodation with a sea view for 3 nights. As we had later discovered, the hotel was marketing 'our' allocated room (no14), as a single room accommodation. Not a double as we had expected and booked.

Review 9:picturesque setting

Review 10:The owner was very nice and friendly but not quite as attentive as she should have been - no-one to welcome us, left us waiting a long time for a table, etc

Review 11:nice boutique feel to the hotel, well decorated and stylish. The food was exceptional - strongly recommend dinner in the restaurant Lovely local beach and coastal walk

Review 12:Our room was very small and was accessed up 3 sets of narrow stairs. The shower and toilet were not very private and there was no wardrobe. Not suitable to be sold as a double room. The other rooms looked much better.

Review 13:Attractive hotel with lots of character and history. Lovely location. We had a very good dinner in the restaurant although it was a little overpriced.

Review 14:Lovely quirky little boutique hotel that's a 10 min walk up the hill from the town and only a 5 min walk to the nearest beach. Great place well worth a visit.

Review 15:Lack of lift - my elderly husband has poor mobilty and we were placed on the top floor, which was not ideal. Also our 'designer' bathroom was completely impracticable. (Room 16)

Review 16:hotel was quiet, had character, and was well situated.

Review 17:The small parking lot filled up quickly, and it was very difficult to find a spot in the nearby ancient, narrow streets. The Wi-Fi was out of order during the two days we were there.

Review 18:The location is very good, The staff was friendly and the environment is very unique in a very old and picturesque part of town.with beautiful views nearby. Good continental breakfast.

Review 19:We were charged for my 2 year olds breakfast each day even though she barely ate a thing. Also no high chair available. Car park very tight and my car was damaged by another guest opening a door onto mine.

Review 20:Very stylish hotel with nice individual feel to it. Breakfast was nice and staff helpful friendly and spoke English! Very nice beach a stones throw away.

Review 21:Only space for 8 cars even though there are 16 rooms

Review 22:Booked a triple room as we like a bit of space and it was a lovely big room with three windows and a sea view (room 11). You can walk the beautiful coastal path from directly outside the hotel.

Review 23:Nothing!

Review 24:The artistic and stylish decor, very calm atmosphere. So close to a lovely beach, cove and the coast path. Great access to Douarnenez without using the car. Really good restaurant!

Review 25:Our room was on the 4th floor and with no lift or assistance with luggage (all female staffing team as seen) we needed a rest after struggling upstairs! I suppose it would save on a gym membership! Also the see through ensuite was a little too modern for our tastes...

Review 26:Modern décor in an old church property. Great views from some rooms. Brilliant little beach with crystal clear water only 50 yards away. Food excellent at dinner - a little chaotic at breakfast.

Review 27:First room was too small; moved to big room with splendid views Douarnenez is a somewhat rundown town, lacking allure of lots of activities

Review 28:Hotel has lots of atmosphere Coast line is very beautiful

Review 29:If you have to attend to obligations in the center of Douarnenez, it is a little bit far.

Review 30:Everything about this hotel is charming; Strongly recommend it. Situated in a beautiful area;

Review 31:As a solo traveller, I had a small room on the top floor, which wasdefinitely bijou. The shower room was so tiny that there was no spacefor a shower rail, which was vaguely irritating, but not a deal breaker.

Review 32:The hotel is a haven of tranquillity, within steps of the sea in eitherdirection. From its Japanese-style garden to its conservatory inspireddining room, it's just a beautiful place to stay and be in, thanksto its charming and friendly proprietors. Other reviewers have noted theexcellent breakfasts. Dinners are delicious, drawing on local, organicingredients complemented with a small and well-chosen wine list. Ican't wait to return.

Review 33:This is a lovely hotel, in beautiful surroundings and run by a superblywelcoming and dedicated couple, Arnaud and Armelle, with help from theirdaughter and dedicated staff.

Review 34:Wifi stopped working. No English speaking TV Channels. Parking could be tricky when it's busy. Nothing much wrong really.

Review 35:Friendly, charming, interesting. Coordinated and arty. Old but with modern features. Nice local beaches. I'd definitely stay here again.

Review 36:- it's a 3 star hotel so obviously your room will not be like the Ritz. (mini-bar, air-con, wardrobes, large bathroom) But it's the best 3 star hotel you will ever stay in and excellent value for money.

Review 37:-chic decor, ambiance -warm welcome, feels like you are staying in someones home rather than a hotel. - relaxing spa - nearby beach - quality food and beverages all organically certified

Review 38:The all glass walk in shower room didn't quite pull it off. But it's only in one room I think.

Review 39:Utterly charming family proprietors who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Both the garden and the interiors are impressively designed; carried out with conviction and ruthless attention to detail. Truly superb food and a concise but excellent wine list. I sincerely hope we'll return.

Review 40:lack of wardrobe/bathroom space

Review 41:Fantastic room furnishings and style

Review 42:location, design, restaurant

Review 43:parking a bit crowded and shower overflowed

Review 44:all very nice

Review 45:Food and wine vastly overpriced. did not partake once.

Review 46:Terrific location. Quirky hotel and not to everyone's taste.

Review 47:The professional and charming staff plus charming surroundings plus excellent restaurant. We shall return.

Review 48:steep stairs - unsuitable for anyone with walking difficulties

Review 49:We were unable to connect with WiFi.

Review 50:The restaurant offers an exceptional menu.

Review 51:Tiny room

Review 52:Owners and restaurant

Review 53:Quiet Clean Friendly staff with a genuine interest in you Comfortable Great Breakfast Ideal location Fast internet

Review 54:the room was not confortable, very small, old and very basic.

Review 55:The view and the location.

Review 56:I should have booked a longer visit!

Review 57:Everything

Review 58:The room was rather smaller than expected and the bathroom seemed a little cramped. However we very much enjoyed our stay.

Review 59:The charming welcome and attention of pour host and hostess. The beautiful surroundings both in and outside the hotel. The decor was truly tasteful and artistic. We enjoyed the cuisine and the particular attention to detail in order to achieve perfection.

Review 60:Loved the feel of the place, the friendly helpful staff, the location with access to a wonderful cove, just perfect for swimming. The decor was inspirational. Our room was quite perfect with double aspect windows giving us wonderful views of the coastline. It was difficult to pull ourselves away from a place of total relaxation. We will return.

Review 61:Nothing to gripe about

Review 62:The place has a character of its own. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We had dinner at the hotel for the 2 nights we stayed there as it was delicious.

Review 63:Our room was small, but it has a wonderful view of the sea and a bath tub that I'd asked for. There are bigger rooms so ask for one.

Review 64:Beautiful location, very peaceful. Charming owners who looked after us very well. Excellent and innovative food!

Review 65:Not deal-breakers, but more hooks for hanging towels and clothing (ie robe) in bathroom would be appreciated; and the principle of "design follows function" could have been more closely adhered to (ie: the sink and faucet look good but are impractical to use, and the shelves next to the sink would be "kinder" if the edges were rounded (bumped my head more than once).

Review 66:Warm, friendly welcome that was extended throughout our visit. Comfortable, clean, safe. Artistic mix of the historical and the modern. Delicious food, beautifully presented. Inviting grounds and area. Didn't want to leave, and would love to return.

Review 67:The bathroom was very small, with a Butler sink that took up a lot of the space so wasn't very practical. However, the bedroom was very pretty with a Parisien Balcony overlooking the sea, so it made up for it!

Review 68:Arnaud and his wife, Armelle, made our stay so welcoming. They were charming as was their beautiful Hotel. The food was delicious, very fresh and service impeccable! We loved the whole experience!

Review 69:Once we found the well signposted hotel and private car park we receiveda warm welcome and offered a choice of rooms all of which wereindividual and stylish. The restaurant was fully booked (a good sign)but we were accommodated on a large coffee table which was quite fun.The food and wine were excellent and here the service again was highlycommendable. It seemed that everyone in the team was having fundelivering a top quality product. I hope we will be able to return.

Review 70:What's not to like?

Review 71:The welcome from a very capable family team and the excellent selection of food and wine. Our room was very clean and every attempt was made to help us to get the most out of holiday stay. Worth every Euro !

Review 72:Very compact bathroom had a dangerously placed shelf for my head.Breakfast at 13 euros we decided to non participate although onlyoptions were some distance away in Douraranez. Steep stairs to carry upour suitcase.

Review 73:Room had a nice view (paid for) and good facilities that were modern butcompact. Had to climb two flights of stairs and location was onlysuitable if you have a car as away from town centre and a long way frommainstream Douraranez. We had an excellent meal and the owners were veryfriendly and helpful.

Review 74:Room 6 is really too small and the "bathroom" is just a joke, looks lovely but you need to be very tiny to use it!!

Review 75:VERY pleasant and helpful staff. Lovely atmosphere and excellent breakfasts.

Review 76:Quiet location, nice view and large room. Perfect base to explore the coast beween Douarnenez and Point du Raz. At walking distance to the center of Douarnenez. Friendly people that make you feel welcome. We definitely recommend to have dinner at Ty Mad.

Review 77:Limited parking

Review 78:Clean and friendly with good food

Review 79:No tea or coffee facilities in the room

Review 80:Helpful friendly staff/owners. Ideal location.

Review 81:too small room

Review 82:nice choice of marmelades at the breakfast

Review 83:Staircase. Some of the bedroom furniture which clearly was taking recycling a step too far.

Review 84:Good staff. Quiet location. Good food.

Review 85:No coffee in the room. No wardrobe.

Review 86:Location. Garden.

Review 87:Breakfast was tasty, but a bit minimalist.

Review 88:Super friendly owner, great house, awesome views. Loved it.

Review 89:Very pretentious and poor value for money had to move room due to over booking. A rip off in general.

Review 90:The location
