Reviews for Hôtel Laurence

Review 1:The lady @ the reception was very grumpy and unfriendly. It was over the limit and unprofessional. No hospitality at all. Last time at this place.

Review 2:Nice rooms, small & clean.

Review 3:Everything in the hotel is very small: corridor are small, bathroom is very small, breakfast room is very very small. No lift. The breakfast cost is 7€ and include a coffee (or any other hot drink), orange juice, croissant and baguette with butter and marmalade. Probably cheaper that any other place outside (but in a very small room). Parking: in the street is not possible, except if you find any place in the street "Emmanuel Agostini" where the park is free (but very difficult to find). If you don't find in the first round, better go to a Parking

Review 4:Good location, near to the port. The bed is very comfortable. The staff is helpful. The wifi has worked very well.

Review 5:Bathroom average. Third floor with no lift would be a struggle for older guests.

Review 6:Position in Cassis. A great place to explore the village. Restaurants and harbour very close.

Review 7:The hotel is on a noisy road so we were woken up numerous times during the night by people's voices and cars, this continued until about 6AM. The room was very small.

Review 8:The location.

Review 9:Location and the excellent terrace overlooking Cassis and the harbour. The room was small but great for the few days we were there. Staff really helpful. There is no lift so be prepared to carry you cases, however the views are worth the climb

Review 10:Very small rooms, air-con not very good, expensive parking a good 10 minute walk up-hill. Don't book room 3! It's the least expensive one that we booked without realising. It is tiny, and the window looks into a wall so it is dark and stuffy. Thankfully another room was available so we paid extra to move into that room.

Review 11:Great location a stone's throw from the water. Clean and tidy.

Review 12:Small room, specially if travelling with dogs. No wifi in the room.

Review 13:The location, few meters from the sea. Very comfortable bed and cozy room. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast.

Review 14:We were there for a week, and the A/C did not work for the first 3 days. (A/C in lobby was very cold.) There was no view from the window. The shower worked poorly, and getting in and out of the shower was not easy--risk of slipping. A pipe over the bed dripped water on us the last night. No fridge in room and no elevator.

Review 15:Staff was basically friendly and helpful. We were close to downtown and the port. They did give us a 5% discount at the end, perhaps because of the A/C problems?

Review 16:We were in room 7 which is directly above the laundry so the heat from the dryers provided under floor heating for us. It was a bit too warm for our liking for summer - probably the pick of the rooms in winter! Our friend stayed in room 1 which was directly above the late night entry and was disturbed by people coming in late. So definitely a room for those who like to party late.

Review 17:The great thing about this hotel is its location right in the heart of the action in Cassis. The staff are very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help. Security was good with a 10pm lock up and entry by a code you were given in check in after that time. Breakfast could be ordered the day before or you could find pretty much anything you wanted to eat just a short distance away. Parking is a nightmare in Cassis and the parking for this hotel is quite a distance away. If you come by train and catch the bus from the station, it is about 100 metres from the bus stop. Incredibly convenient.

Review 18:Stairs and luggage is not compatible :-) Wifi wasn't working

Review 19:Charming hotel at a great location in Cassis (which is a very charming small town). Friendly English-speaking staff!

Review 20:The AC had been left on full blast and had caused a serious humidity build-up in the room. Everything in the room was damp, including the bed. This was very dangerous as the floor is tile and we slipped quite a few times. We had to dry our clothing from our luggage out after we left the hotel. The phone in the room was there for decoration, apparently, and the wifi did not work at all in our room.

Review 21:The location is convenient to the main touristy area of the city. The bed was comfortable and there are plenty of good places to eat near the hotel.

Review 22:The air conditioned didn't work and it was very hot. Room was not really as pictured, very small, outdated. No parking, 46 euro at the lot near by for two nights.

Review 23:Location excellent. A friendly staff person who helped us find the kayaking.

Review 24:Wi fi only worked down in reception

Review 25:Lovely view from 4th floor, no lift room, even if room actually not that close to the water! Great location however

Review 26:Parking in Cassis is a nightmare, not the hotels fault but to try & unload bags is impossible, indeed local police no not let you drive into centre of the town so you have to lug bags in from car parks over 1/2 mile away.

Review 27:Good value, very close to the beach for family activities.

Review 28:Very simple place and quite expensive in that regard, although compared to other accommodation in town it was good value. The wifi did not work very well.

Review 29:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is in a great location just off the Port and short walk to the beach, but still fairly peaceful. I had a lovely, bright and airy room overlooking the Main Street. It was small but very clean and comfortable.

Review 30:Wi-Fi literally only works right in the reception area and even then it doesn't work properly all the time.

Review 31:Central location, nice little hotel with most of the things we needed for our short stay. Staff were great and helpful.

Review 32:The room I bought was very small with a window facing close to another window/building. It wasn't safe to open the window overnight and the room had a poor air conditioner. We were ok with the ventilation after fan was provided though. I would choose outward/street facing room next stay and pay the extra amount. It would have been worth it.

Review 33:I especially appreciated the staff in Hotel Laurence. They are super nice and gave us a lot of tips and suggestions about where to go around town IN ENGLISH, yes! Cassis is a hidden gem!

Review 34:No wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby. Breakfast not included. Small rooms. No shampoo or conditioner provided.

Review 35:The location was fantastic. Nice small balcony with view of the Chateau.

Review 36:Some shower gel, in the room would have been good. The stairs were a bit of a challange.

Review 37:Nadia....The receptionist was always there to help. The towels where changed daily, the bed was confortable. The Terrace was larger than we thought. 2nd line of properties next to the port. The plenty of good coffee for breakfast. Overall value for money

Review 38:When unloading vehicle, police started giving us a ticket. Manager of hotel was talking to her friend who had parked in the hotel carpark.

Review 39:but in a good location.

Review 40:A little run down, so can make the room a little damp with the air con on. Quite loud at night if you open window... & pillows... ! Please change the pillows! One was lumpy (bitty lumpy) & one was plasticky like a blow up balloon. Definitely good enough for a short stay...

Review 41:Location, price, friendly and helpful staff, clean.

Review 42:There is no elevator till 4th floor. Bed was too small for 2 people. No fridge. Towels were little bit stinky.

Review 43:Location was very good. Cloth to the beach and shopping place.

Review 44:No elevator and the parking... The parking in Cassis is impossible forovernight guests with cars. You have to drive way out of town to parkthen take a shuttle back in. The desk clerk was very unhelpful intelling us this and we figured it out after 1 1/2 hours of drivingaround. Really annoying espe ually if you are in the area for a shorttime and waste so much of it getting to and from. Plus since you haveto park outside town, you don't dare leave anything in your car(there are signs everywhere telling you not to) so what you thoughtwouldnt be a big deal (not having an elevator )was horrible..you had tobring in all of your luggage and drag it up a tiny spiral staircase tothe 5th floor.

Review 45:Balcony Location in town and near beach and near calanques shuttle

Review 46:Our biggest mistake on our trip. The hotel staff were all so rude and unhelpful. We thought we just had bad luck but then it turn out that the hole village just had such a bad athmosphere. All the People were so rude and just in such a bad mood. We have travelled a lot but never experienced this in such a large scale. We also talked to frenchmen in Aix that confirmed the People of Cassis bad reputatipn. They have such a strange and terrible attitude towards turists.

Review 47:Nothing about neither the hotel nor the village.

Review 48:The room is really small, don't have space even for the bags. It's a spencive hotel for what they offer, by cheaper than the other in the region.

Review 49:The staff is great and very helpful

Review 50:Location was the best

Review 51:Broken toilet

Review 52:Very close to the port and inexpensive in this pricey town

Review 53:Great location, clean and functional room

Review 54:Had to wait for 15minutes to be let in to the hotel on arriving after calling the mobile number left on the door.

Review 55:Great location close to the port.

Review 56:Bathroom, small rooms

Review 57:Friendly staff, location

Review 58:Our room was yery clean and comfortable. The hotel has an excellent location and the the staff was friendly and very helpful.

Review 59:ask for one of the rooms with rooftop-terrace, gorgeous view, ideal for your breakfast

Review 60:Rooms small, breakfast area a bit claustrophobic

Review 66:situation

Review 67:Needs renovating, room and shower too small. Wifi didn't work in our room.

Review 72:Location, ambience

Review 73:Internet not working at all

Review 74:Close to everyone you need to be

Review 75:Access to toilet extremely tight. Couldn't connect on free WiFi.

Review 76:Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent location.

Review 77:The staff, parking facilities, dirty room, no daily cleaning only shift of towels. Wifi did not work. Very small room.

Review 78:Cassis is a nice place

Review 79:Fresh, contemporary, compact, great location

Review 80:Parking can be expensive and a short walk

Review 81:Great location, good value

Review 82:It was noisy at night time when people were leaving to go home but we were there on a Saturday night

Review 83:Value for money

Review 84:Wi fi only in foyer. Limited shower products. Small room but adequate. Lucky we had no suit cases.

Review 85:Close to all Cassis has to offer.

Review 86:Very friendly staff and great location.

Review 87:friendly and helpful. Good location near the centre of the Old Port. Good value

Review 88:Difficulty in parking the car!

Review 89:Good location, excellent value, helpful receptionist.

Review 90:Overpriced breakfast.

Review 91:Location.

Review 92:Bathroom not up to standard

Review 93:Location is excellent

Review 94:Nothing at all, it was great for 2 star hotel, everything you need and expect plus great service. Coudn't be happier

Review 95:The lady at Reception was phenomenal, so friendly, full of energy and always available for advice.

Review 96:Don't take twin room. Not worth of money at all. Situated in basement, dark, humid air and smell of cleaning powders. No sun and internet for this room. Although doubles seem to be not bad. But they have only one twin room so it cant be changed to another ones. We were really disappointed

Review 97:-shower was a little small -no wifi in the room, only in the lobby -would have liked a bathtub

Review 98:+friendly staff +decoration was pleasing +athmosphere of room and hotel was plesant +bed was comfortable +fine balcony

Review 99:This does not stand true for the hotel. Staff are rude and offensive. Very unhelpful. Toilet leaked. Shower cubicle was beyond tiny with a static dirty curtain. Room was basic but had a lingering smell.

Review 100:Location is good and the town is lovely.

Review 101:Despite the more negative reviews here, I had a pleasant 1 night stay. The location is fantastic, on the port, walkable to all the sights. Check in was simple and efficient. Room was clean, small but well layed out. Good value for money.

Review 102:We didn't have a good experience at this establishment, we also found the staff to be extremely unhelpful and dismissive. Trying to get information from staff re parking was our first irritation, we were delegated to the 'back room' (perhaps an old storeroom) being the only twin in room in hotel. The room was tiny, with a very small window and if the curtain was opened, the other rooms in hotel had full view of our room, on a very hot night, with AC not working and a brightly lit EXIT sign on the wall INSIDE our room, despite it being covered by a plastic bag, we had 2 very uncomfortable nights there.

Review 103:Two teenage girls travelling in our group were fairly freaked-out that their room was not really connected to the rest of the hotel ( not sure exactly what the deal was... but be sure to ask abut it if you reserve a 'twin' room)it had bars on the window and strange nocturnal noises in the alley behind their room. They were scared. I must say that the other travellers in our group felt very safe in their rooms (which were upstairs, and very much inside the hotel)

Review 104:This was our second stay at the Laurence. The staff is fantastic and welcoming. The rooms are fine, some have a balcony. The location is central; 2 minutes walk to the beach, step out the door to cafes, shops and taxis, less than 5-minute walk to the Gendarmerie bus stop ( bus to Marseille).

Review 105:I wish we had wifi in our room! I would have appreciated a hairdryer but we did not expect one as it's a budget hotel.

Review 106:The woman who checked us in was delightful and so helpful. We had a great little balcony with view. Yes the rooms are small and basic but our room was spotless and we weren't expecting luxury!

Review 107:The rooms are not sound proof, and although we were lucky to have a quiet couple next to us it would be most unpleasant if you had someone noisy close by. Also need to be aware there is no lift and the spiral stairs were a bit difficult to manage with luggage.

Review 108:Excellent location near the Port and easy walking distance of everything you need. Cassis is a beautiful place to visit.

Review 109:There was no internet connection in the room, only in the lobby, and the lobby closed at 10 p.m. and opened at 8 a.m.

Review 110:We loved being so close to the old port. It was convenient to everything.

Review 111:Parking may be a problem. I was lucky and found a parking place across the street. I don't know what they have for an alternative, although public parking garages are nearby.

Review 112:Nice balcony. Room was small, but nicely done and comfortable. Great location (1 block from port and beach) at a very reasonable price. About 15 minute walk to the Calanques for hiking.

Review 113:The hostess was so so nice and elegant, just like her hotel. We did not like the town too much but this hotel made up for everything

Review 114:No elevator, Over 60 steps to get to our room

Review 115:Beautiful view from our balcony

Review 116:Good location. Personal very friendly! In the room (1nd floor) was noisy from the street. There was no heardryer nor in the room nor the reception.

Review 117:Breakfast not included but said so before;

Review 118:Located close to the harbour

Review 119:The balkon is very small

Review 120:The hotel is near beach, bus stop,restaurants,Spar.. Air-condition is good

Review 121:Our shower was broken and we weren't able to shower for the entirestay of the day. And no compensation was made.

Review 122:Location and staff

Review 123:Carrying the suitcases up two flights of stairs.

Review 124:The room was good value for the money and the loation was great.

Review 125:The Hotel is well situated close to beach and city centre

Review 126:Our room was very small and a bit awkward in the layout, but we saw that other doubles were larger.

Review 127:Clean Very friendly staff English spoken

Review 128:The staff was wonderful; helpful to the max.
