Reviews for YHA Berwick

Review 1:No wifi in room. Website suggests free parking on site however this is not the case, 2 hr parking only and need a disk from local shops

Review 2:Location, price, friendly welcome, good value breakfast

Review 3:No real downside but the gap between the shower and toilet would benefit from a curtain divider of some sort having mixed age children . And possibly a shutter or blind on the bathroom window.

Review 4:Great weekend break enjoyed it. Rooms and facilities very good.

Review 5:Not much really at the price ur can't get better!!

Review 6:Fantastic cheap no frills accomodation. Location ideal and great facilities. Been a few times before and as this time no issues.Spot on!!!

Review 7:No toilets available accept one in the room. One toulet between 5 people is not good. The cafe and toilets were fenced off with a security gate. This needs sorting out asap. It was embarrassing.

Review 8:Beds really creaky, and toilet design leaves a lot to be desired - placing the loo directly in front of the door leading into a shared dorm - really?

Review 9:Self-catering facilities very good, but no clear instructions on where to find crates to store food in; no labels or pens available. Rooms lovely and warm, plenty of hot water.

Review 10:We just forgot there would be no towels!

Review 11:The service, the food, the friendliness of staff, the tidiness, cleanliness and comfort all first class for the establiehment.

Review 12:Wifi only worked downstairs.

Review 13:Very clean and with good facilities, including kitchen. Dorm beds were comfortable and had individual reading lights. Great value for money.

Review 14:Bistro shut before advertised closing time- if that happens from time to time, an alternative source of hot drinks and snacks (e.g. vending machines) would be good.

Review 15:Atmospheric, well-appointed building with great location near town walls

Review 16:Room was a bit stuffy, but I suppose you can't have a window wide open on the 4th floor !

Review 17:Friendly, helpful staff. Chef really excelled with the supper - and beat us by a mile ! We were stuffed.

Review 18:to many people wanting breakfast at as time only 1 person on for a while then someone else arrived had to stop serving breakfast to fill pump pots of coffee and water x

Review 19:Shower a bit unreliable (but great value to even get an en suite for the price!)

Review 20:Lovely building in heart of historic Berwick with plenty of information boards telling its history. Friendly staff and good breakfast.

Review 21:I'd prefer a divan style bed as I am tall. One's with footboards are so comfortable. Just needed a little more introduction about the facilities and timing of meals when checked in.

Review 22:Location excellent. Facilities very good and above expectations.

Review 23:It was a really interesting use of what appeared to have once been a building for business meetings or conferences. Either that or they went for a very quirky look for the hostel, and I really liked it. Good lounge, good kitchen, lovely rooms, and a nice cafe downstairs.

Review 24:Clean fresh feel to the room. Great self-catering facilities. Even better, really good value and substantial cooked meals available. Plenty of parking.

Review 25:This Hostel is like a Hotel it has a most friendly helpful staff. There are great facilities ie Washing M/C, Residents kitchen for self catering, most comfortable beds ,and the en suite has a fab shower. Its within easy walk to river and town.

Review 26:Room had a slightly stale smell initially which soon disappeared with a little airing

Review 27:Exceptionally helpful staff, cycle storage facilities, possibilities for eating on site or a great Indian restaurant round the corner, very good breakfast.

Review 28:Couldnt get wifi in the room and matresses were a little hard

Review 29:The clenliness was excelant and the rooms and facilitys were superb. The breakfast deal was unbelievable.

Review 30:My room needed repairs to window, soap dispenser and slow draining sink. Water tepid for late night shower.

Review 31:State of the art architecture with onsite art gallery in great location. Good sized en suite wet room. Bright spacious cafe. Friendly very helpful staff.

Review 32:No negatives.

Review 33:Haven't done YHA for many years, but this hostel was comfortable and warm. Private room had en suite shower and lots of hot water. Fabulous breakfast cooked by John who provided a wealth of local information. Would not hesitate to stay here again - great accommodation at a bargain price.

Review 34:Nothing every thing was good

Review 35:Great place great value lovely staff immaculately clean secure safe place othe r guests very sociable didn't no about this place but i will defnatly b visiting again and at other sites run by yha

Review 36:There was one sheet missing on our beds and we had to make the beds ourselves, but it wasn't a big deal.

Review 37:Excellent value for money (we found a special offer), clean rooms, friendly and professional staff (but a little bit bussy all the time as there are not many of them), overall a great experience!!!

Review 38:The fact that everyone will know want to stay there and we wont get a look in!

Review 39:The staff were friendly, presentable and more than helpful. The place itself was full of interesting items and a great view.

Review 40:small bed for 6 feet man, door lock didn't work, soap dispenser didn't work, no towels in my room.

Review 41:good value, in town centre, nice breakfast.

Review 42:For me personally I would have like a tv in the room and tea/coffee making facilities as I was travelling alone (however there was access to a self catering kitchen and lounge on the 5th floor, as well as the cafe on the ground floor).

Review 43:I booked a private room and it was hotel quality. There were extra pillows, storage, lights over the bed, easy access to power sockets, solid window shutters to block out all light and gave ultimate privacy.

Review 44:My daughter and I stayed here for a few days at half term and we had a wonderful time. The staff are friendly and helpful, The cafe is lovely and the food served there is delicious. We would highly recommend the YHA Berwick.

Review 45:The communal areas were quite industrial and therefore felt chilly.

Review 46:Very helpful staff, an abundance of activities advertised to make your stay enjoyable, good food available at extremely reasonable rates, lots of local information and an interesting historical building to stay in.

Review 47:Initial greeting by staff came across rude when I mistakenly brought bicycle into building reception area but was told off as this area doubled up as catering area. I did not know this but staff needs to use words such as "please" and "thank you"! At breakfast cutlery and dishes away from where cereals were? Lift button for ground floor not marrying up with instructions so confusing.

Review 48:The building was very good as in a historical Lowry picture painting . Facilities generally excellent. Staff overall helpful. Ideally located in town.

Review 49:Mattresses could have been more comfortable!

Review 50:Great central location with friendly helpful staff. First time in a youth hostel and I was pleasantly surprised.

Review 51:The other room we had booked, several weeks ago, had obviously not been checked properly. The was a strong smell of smoke in the room [this was 10pm at night when we checked in; one wonders why smoke alarms hadn't gone off as someone had been in there smoking] and there was no toilet paper [in a 5 bedded room!]

Review 52:The location was very good and easy to find. We arrived late but it was still open. The smells next morning of breakfast were delicious. Our room was good and the showers were clean and reasonably powerful. The staff were conciliatory about the complaints we had to make.

Review 53:Somewhat firm mattress, no soap in dispenser in toilet

Review 54:Cheap, clean, warm. Great value breakfast. Friendly staff, handy for town centre, interesting building.

Review 55:We stayed at the yha for work in a shared room . It was nipping clean , quiet and the beds were very comfortable . The food was great , excellent hostel .

Review 56:Berwick is an incredible town - I fell in love with the history. I do photography as a hobby and it ha plenty of opportunity and locations to take wonderful photos. The yha in berwick was friendly, good food and very clean. My only complaint was a loud snorer in my dorm room but staff switched me to an alternative room the following night which I had to myself!! Perfect

Review 57:Nothing!

Review 58:The members staff were welcoming and the hostel was lovely. It is set in a beautifully reconstructed granary with modern bathrooms and kitchen and a great coffee shop with reasonable meals. I am sorry that I had not booked more time here to stay in this beautiful town

Review 59:Spacious, clean en-suite bedrooms, brightly decorated. Well equipped kitchens, well organised. Wonderful atmosphere and character, with the Bistro and Art Gallery sharing the same building, which, itself, is full of intriguing history. Helpful, cheerful, supportive staff. Ideally placed within Berwick, for sightseeing plus access to main routes to numerous places of interest.

Review 60:The granary is a stylish and comfortable building, well situated and representing excellent value for money. In our particular case, it is on the 'Coast and castles' cycle route and the hostel provided secure storage for our bikes.

Review 61:The staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant, we had the impression of a great place to work as well as stay. Everything was clean and well maintained. This was our fist stay with YHA and the quality of our stay surpassed all expectations. The full English breakfast was freshly cooked and to a very high standard.
