Reviews for La Cremaillere
Review 1:We had a good experience overall, though we found the stairs to our first floor room a little difficult with our bags/cases. There may have been a lift but we didn't see it. There was also a staircase in our room going to a mezzanine with 2 beds, making it a good family room. However the end of our bed was very close to these stairs, making it a little difficult especially in the night. The gentleman with whom we paid our bill when checking out was civil, but did not seem very friendly or encouraging.
Review 2:La Cremaillaire hotel in which we stayed is a short walk from the check-in and Restaurant building. Both are very clean and very pleasantly decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen beautifully white. The food in the restaurant is excellent.
Review 3:WiFi in the separate annex was non-existant. Breakfast was basic, but adequate.
Review 4:The location right on Juno beach, the 4 units in their annex had either a balcony or terrace overlooking the beach, and 100 meters from the main hotel
Review 5:We loved the area, being right next to the ocean, but mostly the incredible staff, the comfortable, clean room with a view, and the feeling of being in a safe area. We walked the small town to see where the everyone went to have dinner, found out it was at our hotel! We will be back!
Review 6:Breakfast was not included in the price of the room and we were not asked if we planned to eat at the hotel. We were charged for breakfast the second day even though we did not eat there.
Review 7:The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating upon check in. The hotel is located on the beach. Buffet breakfast had an adequate variety of foods. The hotel restaurant had excellent food for dinner.
Review 8:advertised the facility is next to the beach. The garden rooms are one block from the beach which should be clear in the advertisement. Breakfast buffet is too expensive.
Review 9:Nice room
Review 10:Light in room was too strong and unable to switch spots off individually.
Review 11:Comfortable bed with very nice bed linen. Dinner in restaurant, included in the half board reservation, was excellent: the fresh oysters and Bouchot mussels are a must.
Review 12:Front desk staff were rude. The restaurant was extremely expensive.
Review 13:A nice, clean hotel very near the Juno Memorial. One staff member (a waitress) was very lovely.
Review 14:The rate agreed for the room and half board was 189 Euros. This is the only Logis hotel we stayed at that didn't wait to see how we wanted to pay but charged the pre-registered card before we proffered cash but at a rate of 230 Euro + normal tax. We paid a supplement for dinner by agreement which was charged separately. We offered to settle the account after dinner but was told the account hadn't been made up and to settle after breakfast across at the cottage annex. The staff at the annex refused to discuss or deal with the issue so went left somewhat disillusioned and unhappy with the hotel.
Review 15:The cottage annex was roomy, quiet, comfortable, clean and modern. Car parking no problem off street and on site. We paid a premium for dinner and it was excellent. The restaurant was popular and full with diners waiting for tables at 9.30pm. This hotel is in the midst of the Normandy landings area and the restaurant overlooks Juno beach..
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:We loved the location of La Cremaillere, right on the boardwalk facing the beach. Staff were warm, welcoming and efficient. The seaview room was gorgeous with tasteful furnishings, comfortable bed, beautifully renovated throughout. The bathroom was HUGE with heated towel bars and a bench, 2 sinks and lightfilled windows. The bedroom had ample seating (2 comfortable armchairs, table and 3 chairs) and was well equipped with coffee and tea-making facilities. Everything was spotlessly clean. We had lunch at the restaurant, which faces the sea and has large windows. The food was fabulous. Seafood was fresh and well prepared. We highly recommend La Cremaillere and would stay there again!
Review 18:Nothing really.
Review 19:Great seafront location. Adjacent parking. Excellent professional staff. Great restaurant meal - very popular and lively (best to book!). Very spacious 2-bed room / mini-apartment overlooking the prom & beach.
Review 20:Staff where very attentive contrary to some reviews. Hotel is split into several properties. We where across the road in a purpose built block. This was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good from 7. Dinner was also reasonable value at €26 for 3 courses. Restaurant was popular with a view of the beach from some tables. There was off street parking. Less than 100m from the beach although early August it was very busy on sunny days. Staff spoke English and they advertise the fact but made the effort with A* GCSE French which was appreciated.
Review 21:Room basically on ground floor with yard area. Bit dark and dingy.
Review 22:Right on the beach. Nice restaurant. Good for families as there were 2 separate bedrooms one which slept 3 children and a dining area with fridge. Think this would depend on which annexe room you had. Parking outside room with gate.
Review 23:Having enjoyed a superb evening meal in the hotel's main restaurant (overlooking the beach) we felt that breakfast - served in a cafeteria-like hall within the bedroom annexe "block" 300 metres down the road - was a bit of a let down. Nothing cooked and a scrum milling around the buffet servery reminiscent of many well-known budget hotel chains.
Review 24:Helpful, friendly staff. Excellent main restaurant in a great position overlooking a stretch of Juno Beach used in the D Day Normandy landings of June 1944.
Review 25:Kind, friendly English speaking staff. Very flexible with the lovely spacious room. They let us stay a second night without a reservation and in the height of holiday season. Lovely location. From the bedroom the sea was only a few yards away when the tide came at night. Could see nothing but miles of ocean. Wonderful place.
Review 26:-Staff was extremely rude and not friendly at all. Even tried to charge us for 2 days breakfast that we didn't even had, when we askes for a refund the staff member refused to refund us at first. Eventually he chuck the money at us and walked off!! Unacceptable!
Review 27:-Dog Friendly -Modern and clean room
Review 28:Our dinner experience. Too much money to have poor location table, rushed, and things forgotten. No ability to get ice or ice bucket for the room. A little removed was fine but without the ability to speak to or have communication with the front desk.
Review 29:We liked the proximity to the Normandy beaches. On check in the reception was nice and helpful.
Review 30:As seniors having to walk nearly 100 yards to breakfast.Breakfast not brilliant. Overrated restaurant, Just alright. If you insist on a sea view no facilities for disabled people
Review 31:The ground floor room opening onto the promenade and its private parking at the back. The nice and helpful staff in this annex building. Nice welcome checking in late
Review 32:My only gripe was the number of chipped plates, cups and bowls in the breakfast room, probably not a problem for many people but the crockery really needs changed. Great otherwise.
Review 33:Stayed for two nights at Le Cottage, one of the hotels annexes. Brand new duplex room, great facilities, free WiFi, good breakfast. Fantastic location, around 50m from main hotel and right on Juno beach.
Review 34:In retrospect, I would have not stayed in this town. We went to see D Day beaches and the Bayeux Tapestry. If we had stayed in or near Bayeux, I think that would have been a better choice. If you are looking for beach-front hotel, in a typical touristy beach town, this would be a great choice.
Review 35:Rooms are comfortable and clean
Review 36:The staff was nice upon arrival but was non-existent or unhelpful after that. the restaurant workers no knowledge of how to address questions.
Review 37:Location, location, location. View of the beach and water, nice little reasonably-priced restaurant across the street (and other in the area), the main street with stores a short walk away and the museum within a 10 minute walk.
Review 38:Location at the heart of Courseulles-sur-Mer and virtually on the beach. There is a good restaurant in the Hotel and there are plenty more within the immediate area.
Review 39:We stayed at the Cottage property, which was really comfortable and quiet, off the main road, but be warned if you're driving, parking is really tight
Review 40:Right on the beach, which happens to be one of D-Day beaches. Very nice restaurant on site, staff friendly with enough English to take care of all needs
Review 41:Close to the ferry from Caen. Steps to the beach and walking areas. Omaha and Juno beaches, Canadian War Memorial and Museaum at Juno Beach is a must see.
Review 42:The booking states garden view, all pictures are for the hotel in frontof the sea however upon arrival we were sent to the garden hotel 200meters away and not by the sea...
Review 43:Place nice, excellent restaurant
Review 44:Every thing was first class we went half board and the food was excellent also the breakfast was very good will defiantly go there again our room was clean and comfortable.
Review 45:the room at the top of the stairs with the sea view I would suggest that this area of the Hotel is in need of maximum modernisation
Review 46:I liked that the matter was resolved with a sympathetic view and we were given a free upgrade to a fabulous garden room suite Thank you so much
Review 47:We were staying in the second building in 200 meters from the main hotel building with no restaurant, no wifi and no english speaking staff. The duplex room has a strange 2 level layout with no doors, no walls. So it was a bit uncomfortable for 4 people.
Review 48:Free parking Nice breakfast Quick and easy checkin Easy to find location Nice neighbourhood
Review 49:The rooms are about 100 yards from the main building. The breakfast is also served there. The quality of the breakfast is mediocre for a "logis de France".
Review 50:The quality of the evening meal in the restaurant was excellent but the service was far too fast even when we requested that they slowed down between courses.
Review 51:Cute little terrace off our room that was very quiet. Large breakfast was great in the morning. The view at the restaurant in the evening was superb. All the staff were extremely friendly
Review 52:Building was old and a bit smelly, which was a shame. The smell in the bathroom (old pipes not used enough) was really bad. Restaurant was ok, but not really as special as the price would have indicated.
Review 53:The room or really an appartement was spacious. The staff was just wonderful, so helpful. Room service without extra price!
Review 54:Duplex suite was cramped an not enough storage for 4 adults. It's not made clear that some of the accomodation (duplex suites) are not part of the main hotel and casn be up to 80 metres down the road. They will need ceiling fans in the summer Very, very, very small bathroom and shower!
Review 55:Location
Review 56:The curtains were very thin so the room became too bright to sleepbefore we were actually willing to get up..
Review 57:Very roomy, a welcomed treat after staying in a previous typically smallEuropean Hotel. We had a balcony overlooking the beach. We had dinner atthe restaurant and the food was amazing!!
Review 58:No English channels. While clean, bathroom was tired. There is elevator in the apartment unit, so luggage has to be carried up and down.
Review 59:Hotel has rooms and an apartment with 4 rooms. Room had a door which opened onto Juno beach with a verandah. Very nice view. Staff were friendly and assisted with the luggage. We had to leave before breakfast croissants etc so they gave us some cake to take with us. Very thoughtful. conveniently located to restaurants in the town.
Review 60:Nothing.
Review 61:Everything was great, hotel staff very helpful, rooms size was fantastic, hotel restaurant was super and good prices as well, wifi worked perfectly for those of you who can't live without it.
Review 62:Would have been nice to have a kettle and and some tea and coffee.
Review 63:The whole thing was lovely and to be honest is much better than we expected. We got a free upgrade to sea view, so that was a bonus. The kids loved the mezanine bedroom upstairs and we loved being able to sit on the balcony right on the sea front.
Review 64:The normal type room has a very small double bed. A very large double isapprox. 180 cm. Wide. The seagulls scream all night long. Not the faultof the hotel, but can't something be done to drive them away? Ergo:You can't sleep with the window open.
Review 65:We stayed 2 nights, upgrading the second one to a"villa"/"superior room". It was worth theadditional 50 eur we had to pay. Parking is easy on site for those notstaying at the main building of the hotel.
Review 66:The beds were hard and the flood light all night long outside our window at night made it impossible to leave the roller-shutters open. It would have been nice to hear the waves and feel the breezes...
Review 67:We loved the view onto the beach from our room. The restaurant is excellent. The location is perfect for strolling down the boardwalk or for going to the Juno Beach Centre on foot.
Review 68:WiFi only available in or close to the lobby/reception area. Tea and coffee facilities and also a small fridge would have been useful. Also no A/C. But these are very small niggles especially considering the very reasonable price we paid.
Review 69:We were in an annex overlooking the sea next to the hotel/restaurant. It had two bedrooms and a living room with a bed/settee, ideal for us and our three teenagers. Great location on the beach and close to the town centre. Ideal for visiting the historic D-Day beaches, museums and memorials. Staff were very friendly. The restaurant overlooks the beach and promenade and serves fantastic food. A little pricey but worth it! We shall be returning to this hotel in the future.
Review 70:We had a family room with an upper floor. However, it was more than 30 degrees upstairs making it impossible to sleep there why our children slept on the floor downstairs. Not good at all.
Review 71:It was very hot during night time and probably it doesn't happen a lot in Normandy, hence there was no air conditioning.
Review 72:Comfortable rooms. We were staying in another building with garden view. Very helpful staff. I left my sweatshirt in the room and they sent it for me to hotel in Spain.
Review 73:We had the (all new) luxury room in "le cottage" and the experience was beyond expectation. Perfect stay, nice location close to the beachside of a small town. Accomodations were excellent, modern and very clean. Bathroom and shower were a dream. The location is also a perfect starting point for exploring Normandy (the WWII sites, Bayeux, the countryside, ... Recommended
Review 74:Misleading info on web ref sea views. We we're put in a separate location away from the beach. This should be made clear on the web site.

Review 95:The location and the restaurant at the hotel were excellent.
Review 96:Great hotel, staff and dinner was excellent. Very close to Juno beach Centre.
Review 97:WiFi authorization system is cumbersome. Insufficient parking spaces.
Review 98:Excellent location, excellent restaurant with half board.
Review 99:No safe in the room (coté jardin) Bathroom a bit small
Review 100:Excellent Restaurant ! Extensive Breakfast... Friendly Staff
Review 101:Location - right on the beach, great view from window. Good restaurant
Review 102:The room was small.
Review 103:Good location.
Review 104:I would like to have been offered a more varied menu. In the evenings I would like to have been able to chose lighter fare.
