Reviews for Arts Et Seine
Review 1:I don't remember to have read anything about the parking charge when I booked, and I ve been ask to pay for it... Maybe it was my mistake,or maybe is not mentioned at all...
Review 2:The staff at the arriving was friendly and helpful, provide us good instruction on where to go to eat something..
Review 3:during my stay it had a problem with warm water and heating but it only lasted one day. The rooms are not well isolated so you can really hear what is going on next door...
Review 4:Clean Hotel with excellent staff
Review 5:The staff could speak English, Chinese, and French. They also provide useful info of the city. There is an on site parking place that costs a bit , but worth it!
Review 6:Could use bedside tables and a few surfaces to put things in the bathroom.
Review 7:A bit of a walk from the train station, but not too bad and convenient to the cathedral. A good low budget choice for Rouen with fast internet download speeds and a friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is cold but filling.
Review 8:The room was very dim, the lights in the room could have been brighter.
Review 9:My boyfriend and i thought the hotel was unique and excellent value for money. The free wifi was fast, the decor was nice, everything was clean and the staff were welcoming and very keen to help.
Review 10:Nice and cozy hotel in the center of Rouen. The room was warm and clean. We arrived very late in the evening, but the staff gave us the code to access the structure. We stayed here one night and it was a good "pied-à-terre" to start visiting Normandy. Recommended!
Review 11:very noisy neighbours and hardly any sound-proof, we could hear them the whole night long as they were walking, talking, visiting bathroom etc. it was also dark in the room, not much electric lights.
Review 12:very friendly staff, excellent location - few minutes from the cathedral. free parking in the courtyard. usual cold breakfast.
Review 13:Room rather sparsely furnished. A slightly sloping narrow shelf was the only horizontal surface. Small bathroom. Older premises.
Review 14:Reasonable location. Room had a small balcony which meant we could keep the french doors open. Staff quite helpful.
Review 15:Room not clean, everything falling apart. Curtains didn't close, curtain rail in bathroom fell off. Terrible towels, no proper pillows on the bed, no room facilities (no cupboard or place to put clothes). This is the most basic I have ever seen and I've stayed in hostels. The worst of all this is that this is the most noisy room I have ever stayed in!. The car seemed like a better option.
Review 16:The hotel being very central and the friendly staff are the only positives
Review 17:Great location and the friendliest hotel manager! He offered lots of suggestions for things to do and was very sweet with my young children. Such a lovely welcome when we arrived and very accommodating. Loved the breakfast room. Like a soho coffee house!
Review 18:The staff were so friendly and helpful. We arrived after-hours and I called the hotel phone number to let us in. Their staff member came down immediately, helped me find parking for my car, and was very kind to speak English to us (my French is poor; my apologies). The next day, my wife spent a lot of time talking with the owners' family who were so friendly and kind and were very nice to our two daughters. The hotel is centrally located and the owners and their staff really go out of their way to take care of their guests and make sure they feel welcome and are comfortable. What a wonderful staff- thank you.
Review 19:Stairs was quite dark and no public space to sit if bar is closed
Review 20:Just a few minutes walk to city centre & by the river. No mayor issues issues with car park but it is a tight squeeze.
Review 21:The description of this hotel makes it sound better than it is. This Hotel is very basic and of a low standard. I know it’s cheap but there cheap and good (travel inn etc) and then there's cheap and poor. Had the worse night’s sleep ever due to beds at this hotel. The towels were like rags. The rooms/Hotel are in great need of attention.
Review 22:Parking, Location
Review 23:Not very well organized, for example in the morning at breakfast the croissants finished even though there were just 4 people in there and not all of us had one. At some point there was just one staff who needed to deal with all things at once. Very noisy as you can hear everything that is happening on the streets even with the windows closed.
Review 24:The staff was very nice, they were trying really hard to be helpful. We were able to get in the hotel even though we arrived after mid night. We sorted out with the parking in the morning, so we needed to park on the street but we just needed to put 2 euros in the machine so we wouldn´t need to wake up too early in the morning to move the car. Very good location as it is 5 min from the cathedral.
Review 25:Not sure if it is every night, but lots of loud noise from the street into late hours of the night and early morning. There is a club next door, so that might explain it.
Review 26:Great location and the owner was very helpful and attentive, explaining everything. Only minutes to the main square and restaurants. Breakfast was good, good value. Terrific light show at the church in the evening outside.
Review 27:Cleanliness, beds had no protection and mattress was filthy. Curtains were no use and one fell off with the track. Felt like an old office block badly painted and parking was difficult with a large car due to Inconsiderate other guests. Door handles coming off. Room too small for three.
Review 28:Not a lot but the manager was very polite and helpful
Review 29:Staying on a Saturday night meant we could hear loud bar or party on our street until early morning.
Review 30:Very pleasant reception from relaxed, but enthusiastic host. Very good breakfast served with attention to detail. Central location near river, and easy access for sight seeing and restaurants. Tastefully decorated hotel, with a good atmosphere. A good stop off for a night or two.
Review 31:no lift to the third floor for 83 yo grand dad but otherwise all else was great
Review 32:Great hotel in a central location - manager spoke in excellent english he was very helpful and gave us loads of reccomendations - I will use this hotel again
Review 33:Excellent location. Very friendly staff with helpful tips on parking. Also Where and what to visit in the evening. It was handy the owner speaks English.
Review 34:Nothing - perfect ....
Review 35:The guy that greeted us at reception was awesome - Jean-Christopher ( Ihope I spelt your name correctly ). Promised us the fish viewing roomand didn't disappoint. Advised us the best things to see in town (if you get a chance go on a Saturday night for the free Cathedral lightshow because it's as good as the guy on reception ). We travelledEurope for 7 weeks and stayed in probably in 16 different places andthis was the friendliest and best value for money. It really made ourholiday and we have many fond memories of our short stay there. Noavailable car parking at site but got a free park on the street on thesame road and no probs with the car. Tourist office also really helpful.
Review 36:The rooms and landings could really do with a bit of freshening up, I felt they lacked a "woman's touch". With this detail taken care of, this really would be a lovely place to stay right in the heart of Rouen.
Review 37:The staff were exceptional; friendly, helpful, natural - everything you could ask for. The parking facilities were much appreciated, the hotel being situated right in the heart of Rouen (excellent location), and very reasonable. The mattress was also of good quality and the room peaceful, we had a really good night's sleep.
Review 38:Very basic room facilities. Looked like furniture was purchased from the UK (power sockets were a giveaway). Dismal colour scheme. Parking available but very tight access.
Review 39:Close proximity to Rouan old town and cathedral. Proprietor very friendly and helpful.
Review 40:Cleanliness of room could have been improved. A deep clean would help. The cushions on the bed and room overall smelt stale.
Review 41:Location was great and the ability to park the car (book and obtain confirmation in advsnce is essential). Very close to Cathedral and Square. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 42:no parking despite being advertised with parking, room was in poor condition with peeling wallpaper and grubby mugs in the room
Review 43:Location was quite good and centrally located
Review 44:It was very noisy but you would expect that, people were talking loudly up to 5.30am under our bedroom window so could not sleep, room was quite small so was the shower room.
Review 45:Location was very good in the middle of town
Review 46:Out-dated and old rooms in need of complete upgrade, I had an itchy sensation throughour my entire stay, bathroom doors & walls dirty, toilets dirty.
Review 47:Very friendly & attentive staff, excellent location.
Review 48:Unfortunately the hotel was Very noisy , even after some wine we did not sleep well and were very tired ! The room we stayed in was very worn and the condition of the bathroom was more like a cheap hostel from the 1960's ! No lift ! No staff at night ! No wine in the bar.
Review 49:The staff were helpful and recommended a good restaurant to us , the hotel had some interesting fish tanks that made us laugh . Location was good for visiting the old market .
Review 50:On the hottest day of the holidays, I wish I'd looked for a place with air conditioning - had the window open but the adjoining main road sounded quite noisy late into the evening.
Review 51:Just a couple of minutes walk to Notre Dame Cathedral and the rest of the tourist sites. Fairly basic room but comfortable enough. Breakfast is an extra 6 or 7 Euros but decent value.
Review 52:There was a tea tray in the bedroom. However only plastic cups were provided.
Review 53:Very friendly owner who made us feel welcome. Great location. Easy to park on the street after 5 when we arrived. Bed very comfortable. Room clean and spacious. Great value for money.
Review 54:Some street noise from local bars if windows have to be opened.
Review 55:Great breakfast and very helpful and friendly welcome. Fabulous location close to old town/pedestrian area.
Review 56:Room over looked a busy and noisy street. Very hot so had to open windows. Not usually so hot in Rouen.
Review 57:Staff were outstanding... Friendly and very helpful. Clean and comfortable. Ok for overnight.good breakfast and fab restaurants nearby.
Review 58:The hotel was very basic and a fan was needed. The noise at night was really bad. It didn't bother us BUT others would need to consider this.
Review 59:The location was great and the staff were lovely.
Review 60:Very hard to get to by car due to one-way road system that doesn't work
Review 61:So friendly and helpful, downstairs breakfast area is beautiful and food is great, bed was very comfy and bathroom was great also
Review 62:The friendly Owner runs a smart, stylish city centre hotel on a quiet street in the heart of a wonderful city. Tasteful, modern décor throughout. The city - especially the stunning Art Gallery - is well worth a visit.
Review 63:Tiny bathroom but (just) manageable
Review 64:Location was good - close to cathedral and old town and a block from the Seine. Staff were friendly and very helpful with recommendations for places to eat.
Review 65:Older building with no lift. (Room on first floor with good handrails on stairs so no problems with slow walk up.) No English language channel (BBC World News, France24, etc.) on TV in room. Anti-slip mat on shower would have been nice.
Review 66:Very convenient to see Rouen cathedral and generally walk about. Parked car at back of hotel and used wheelchair. Very friendly reception: lovely atmosphere.
Review 67:the wall in the room was damp, wifi connection in the room wasn't good, we had to sit near the door to catch the connetion, breakfast could be better
Review 68:The hotel has it's own parking, not expensive. The manager of the hotel was very attentive and nice, helped us with parking, sightseeing within Normandy
Review 69:Bed could have been a bit more comfortable Range of breakfast options perhaps a little less than I hoped, though maybe it was just that day.
Review 70:The manager / owner was very friendly and helpful. His English way better than my French! On-site parking Wi-fi was handy to have City centre location Great value ( I booked 3 months in advance) 3 adults sharing a room, parking, breakfast 107€ (about £77 at the time)
Review 71:Requires full renovation attention. Parts of the rooms were grubby. If a quiet and peaceful stay is what you.require DON'T stay here.revellers under the windows until 5AM.
Review 72:Friendly and helpful. The beding was clean.
Review 73:guests with large bags may have difficulty walking up stairs to the rooms. there was no elevator. we wish there was wifi available in the rooms.
Review 74:the owners were very charming, friendly and helpful. the location is so very convenient to the historic area. we were able to park our car in a secure lot behind the hotel for a small fee. otherwise free overnight street parking is available in front. the rooms were small and simple but served our purpose. the breakfast was also the same but we enjoyed it. we would stay here again because our overall experience was positive.
Review 75:Room was clean but the furnishings and bathroom fittings were in need of updating.
Review 76:Ideally located for walking into the city. Spacious room. Friendly owners.
Review 77:Ideal 2 day stopover hotel on our way to south Brittany. We couldn't find hotel so parked in public car park and walked. Owner, Jean Christophe went with my husband to collect car and show him way into hotel's secure carpark. Excellent value. Would stay again.
Review 78:Awkward late night entry (after 8pm!) which entailed passwords and heavy side gates; also, no new bath towel on second day
Review 79:The location, the pleasantness of the host, the averagely agreeable breakfast
Review 80:A room with all the facilities within it. Felt like being in a converted office room and the outlook was poor. A very small bed, small towels and a curtain that barely covered the window.
Review 81:The ease of being able to get to the heart of the old town. Close to the Cathedral for a not to be missed late night light show.
Review 82:Cleaning could be more thorough especially at the sides of and under the mattress
Review 83:Super friendly staff and owner, secure site, easy access to everything
Review 84:Excellent service from the staff, cheap hotel with basic but good facilities. This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel and still think it offers great value for money (twin room £46). Would use again
Review 85:The secure parking is a little tricky to find,Stop near the hotel and go and ask the receptionist. Then go around the block and call her. She will open the gates.
Review 86:The location is superb .close to all the main restaurants in town. There is secure parking and an excellent breakfast for £5. Rooms are clean and confy.
Review 87:The hotel was central with car parking available, very near the cathedral, shops and river. The owner was very friendly, helpful and rectified any problems immediately. Good buffet breakfast with coffee and a selection of teas including excellent Chinese green tea.
Review 88:Low hot water pressure made for a less than invigorating shower. No sound-proofing at all...so better hope your neighbors aren't noisy.
Review 89:Centrally located, much better-than-average breakfast, welcoming staff.
Review 90:The only thing I didn't like was the plastic sheet underneath the bed sheet.
Review 91:Friendly helpful staff and the location of this hotel make this a great choice. My single room was small but perfect. Breakfast was also good as well as free WiFi. Rouen is a beautiful place, well worth a visit. I also got great tips from the hotel owner and his wife about renting a car and travelling to the coast for the day. Europcar car rental is only minutes walk from the hotel. Definitely would stay here again.
Review 92:One down point - my son found a mobile phone under our bed which appeared to have been there for 4 years!
Review 93:Owner spoke good English was very helpful indeed ! Couldn't help enough. Hotel good location and great breakfast
Review 94:a bit outdated (no complaints taking the price in consideration).
Review 95:Super friendly and helpful hosts, excellent location, clean, safe parking. English speaking host (not very common in France). Perfect for a one night stay to vist the city.
Review 96:Tiny towels not changed overnight. Host said that there was a code to indicate need for change but that was not explained. Towels still not changed despite promise to do so. Towel big enough to to dry face and hands.Inadequate.
Review 97:Right in the heart of old Rouen. Chose it because of (a) location and (b) because it offered private parking. Very laid-back host. Arrived Sunday afternoon to see a notice that reception closed Sunday afternoons, so ring a number. Only an answer phone at the number.Local cafe owner kindly rang another number to find that the hotel was open. Host said that the notice was only for winter but it was still there when we left! Facilities basic; good breakfast. If location is key and you don't mind basic facilities at a reasonable price it's ok.
Review 98:It was not possible to use the electrical blinding of the windows. It appears one of the blinds was stuck. I am sure this will be fixed. Unfortunately during our stay, the street light lit up our room during the night. This made it slightly more difficult to catch the sleep. The owner was a nice chap, I am sure this thing will be fixed.
Review 99:The hotel was very near to the centre only a few streets away from the big cathedral. There was available a parking at the hotel. The room had the necessary comfort for our small family of three.
Review 100:The stairs, no lift four flights absolute no no if elderly, asked for low floor room but got one on second floor so only stayed one night instead of two.No where to put your clothes, but lovely staff
Review 101:Handy for shops places to eat etc.
Review 102:wi-fi failed due to slow broadband; unable to use it staff very helpful Rouen was Magic, and location of hotel was perfect able to walk with ease around all area's
Review 103:The hotel was very noisy; conversations heard in the next room.
Review 104:The location was central to old Rouen, five minutes from the cathedral, town clock and Jeanne dÀrc church. Staff very helpful.
Review 105:- the smell of the carpet (room 11); - poor wi-fi
Review 106:- we've got room bigger than expected; - English speaking friendly staff; - close to historical center; - public parking nearby is free on Sunday; - breakfast is rather good.
Review 107:The owner was absolutely terrific. Spoke excellent English, was very helpful and showed genuine interest in us. The location is terrific. Just a couple of minutes walk from all the main medieval areas.
Review 108:They charged me a higher rate in advance although I requested to pay on arrival. There is no lift at the hotel. Rooms are noisy.
Review 109:The staff seemed to be friendly although I just stayed for one night.
Review 110:Welcoming and an excellent host. Very helpful and informative. Our kids had their good time despite being tired from the previous journey.Definitely will call again if passing by Rouen.
Review 111:This really isn't a 'bad' thing, just note that the hotel has not been 'americanized', meaning a relatively small room with well design furniture and accessories to make the most of a tight environment and a bathroom that has a shower where you need to pay attention to control the splashing. The finishes in the corridors and stairs were a bit worn.
Review 112:The staff was extraordinarily helpful and friendly. The breakfast (not included in base rate) was fantastic - a classic continental breakfast with everything freshly prepared. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 113:The staff was absolutely fantastic. We were made felt welcome and it was wonderful to exchange opinions with the Host, who was very friendly and kind. The location was perfect for a short or longer visit.
Review 114:A little bit worn-out room but was ok for one night stay.
Review 115:Hotel owners are very friendly and helpful and they speak good English which is not very common in France. Perfect location for city tours, private parking. Quite good value for money.
Review 116:Very warm friendly owner & wife, comfortable, spacious & warm room, nice bed & decor. So Central & easy parking outside, would definitely return & would recommend to anyone, without a doubt!
Review 117:Wifi signal bad, bit noisy street but not much, breakfast price not reported on entrence.
Review 118:Good location, very large rooms with double queen size bed and big bathrooms with thub. Very comfortable and good. Close to all touristic sites and in the heart of the Rouen.
Review 119:The room could have been cleaner--there were visible stains on our bedding and curtains. The bathroom also smelled musky and there were mold stains in the shower
Review 120:The staff was friendly and the location was nice. Breakfast was ok
Review 121:Noise from club opposite (Thursday to Saturday) Room dilapidated (but mattress fine!)
Review 122:Location Owner/staff On-site parking (limited so book) Value
Review 123:The bathroom was a bit poor but for the price, it was fine.
Review 124:Amazing staff - a wonderful, incredibly helpful welcome (real 'above and beyond' stuff!). When we arrived I couldn't find a place to park and someone from the hotel came with me to find a space - and ended moving his own car so I could park in his space - you really couldn't ask for a better welcome!
Review 125:Slightly run down building and rooms, but that was fairly reflected in the price. Breakfast was cold buffet only (but was fresh and tasty)
Review 126:Very friendly host and gave useful guidance for sightseeing. Very close to cathedral and town centre for exploring by foot. Son et lumiere at Rouen Cathedral was excellent.
Review 127:Lovely hotel. Really friendly and helpful owner (English speaking). Clean, spacious room with modern decor, fittings etc. Nice breakfast. Good location for restaurants etc.
Review 128:Noisy neighbours in the room next door; not good for those travelling on the next day!
Review 129:Location, great staff, convenient parking, good breakfast, in the city centre
Review 130:Room very basic Only 1 towel between family of four No shower guard so floor became very slippery
Review 131:Owner was excellent, pleasant and determined to help. Location was excellent Good breakfast Wifi
Review 132:Although the location was excellent, the owner was very incommunicativeand did not answer emails in the time before my arrival. When I arrived, he asked me to stay and let in late-arriving guests. I did not come to a hotel to be their unpaid receptionist!...later he told me that he had been watching me (for those two hours) by remote video camera. That is creepy. I was with a group that negotiated a discount, and I mentioned this when I made the booking, but just a few days before my arrival when I double-checked about this, he refused to give the discount. This was supposedly because I booked with booking.com instead of directly with them, however their website directs all guests to book with booking.com. The shower in our room leaked water all the way onto the carpet into the (tiny) bedroom, soaking through three towels that I put on the floor in just a couple of minutes. The owner said that he would replace the missing shower curtain, but when I left, two days later, he still had not done this, and the room was starting to smell of mold. Be aware that for the double and triple rooms, there is only one key available! Getting another key made costs almost nothing, there is no excuse for this. Overall, in spite of the nice location, not worth these many frustrations.
Review 133:Difficulty parking. Very noisy area at night until 5 in the morning, but it was a Friday night. Bring earplugs if noise is bothersome.
Review 134:The decor, the very friendly staff who spoke English really well, perfect location-close to everything.
