Reviews for La Maison du Carroir
Review 1:Not a thing. Everything was perfect!
Review 2:The hosts were extremely pleasant and welcoming. The house was beautiful, the location perfect and the breakfast was superb!
Review 3:Because it's in the old town parking can be a problem.
Review 4:The hostess was so very friendly & welcoming. She gave us vouchers to use for some venues. The room was very good & had everything you could need. In particular the breakfasts were fantastic - the variety of food provided was incredible especially as most of it was homemade. It was a pleasure to look forward to it each morning.
Review 5:Nothing at all.
Review 6:This remark comes from someone who spends about 150 nights a year in hotels due to his profession. This small family hotel is a miracle. Excellent house, nicely furnished, super kind owners, fantastic breakfast. If I could give 20 points instead of max 10, I would not give enough. Never ever would I go to a different hotel in the same region.
Review 7:nothing.
Review 8:Breakfast was over-the-top!!! Wow, I have no idea how much time Mm Galland must spend making that breakfast. Three delicious different mini cakes each and three lovely mini layered mousse treats plus fruits and superb local cheeses and breads and preserves and freshly squeezed orange juice. It was a beautiful sight!! and truly yummy!! The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. The location is excellent -- just about 10 minutes walk from the centre and the Chateau. Practice your French because you will need it here.
Review 9:A lovely house in a very quiet street just a couple of minutes from the city center. The rooms are very spacious with a separate sitting area. Large bathroom with both a tub and a shower. Every room is decorated with refined taste and has its own charm. The whole house is spotless clean. The cherry on the cake is the breakfast, really luxurious (fresh fruit, pastry, bread, jam, local ham and cheese) and delicious. Without exaggeration worth 5 stars. Would definitely stay again.
Review 10:Gracious comfort in an impeccably renovated Manor House. Charming details included vintage linens & vignettes of antique toys combined with modern bathrooms and great lighting. Over the top gourmet breakfast - all orchestrated by the very capable and accommodating owner/chatelaine. (No English spoken.)
Review 11:I travelled with a group of female adult friends and we were extremely pleased with our stay at La Maison du Carroir. The house is wonderful, very well decorated and cosy. The beds are very comfortable and breakfast fantastic! Would definitely go back and recommend it to my friends.
Review 12:Nothing went wrong.
Review 13:The house is beautifully furnished and great attention to detail has been put into each room. Our hosts could not do enough for us and made us feel extremely welcome. We were able to safely store cycles and being only 5-10 minutes from the station was very convenient.
Review 14:All i can say is wow! This place is unimposing from outside the walls. You walk through the gate and the beauty of the building and courtyard hits you and that is just the beginning. The rooms and interior of the building are a mixture of old french design with a touch of modern. To top off the experience the breakfast is a feast for your eyes. No hot food is served, but the variety of delicious breads cheeses, jams, fresh juice, tea and coffee and an assortment of 5 individual portioned dishes including fresh fruit salads and yogurt. Even though there was no hot food, this was the best breakfast and stay my wife and I experienced during our European travels which is a tough thing to say as we stayed at many amazingly unique and gorgeous inns, hotels and B&B's.
Review 15:Parking is extremely difficult near the hotel.
Review 16:The hotel is beautifully appointed and has been tastefully refurbished. Madame Gallard is very welcoming and provides a generous breakfast. The accommodation is spacious and the displays of artefacts is impressive.
Review 17:ONYLY French spoken and ONLY French brochures available, and ONLY French television channels. Owner could converse with French guests and not with anyone else. She was very friendly but..... Also for a tourist, the breakfast was very sweet (breads, puddings, jams, one bit of meat, some cheese) but not very substantial. The table was very brautifully set though - enough for a high priced monthly magazine. No, we did not expect an 'English Breakfast', but a bit more non-French 'weight' is nice if you have to go out the door and spend a lot of time walking. climbing steps, etc. No, I'm not overweight...but being a tourist requires some collories. Fortunately there are lots of cafes in the area. Yes, we would stay here again, but there are many B&B's offering a slightly more 'tourist' welcome and experience for the same or less money so overall score would be 8.5.
Review 18:Room was very large, well furnished and very clean. Location was also very good - 5-10 minute walk to the town center with restaurents, 'things to see', etc.
Review 19:With very little English, Chantal was a very welcoming and helpful host. Breakfast out of this world. Brochures and recommendations given for local eateries-Wonderful stay in a little oasis in Blois
Review 20:Nothing. Everything was perfect
Review 21:Everything. Magnificent Room was a delight. Comfortable bed, spacious, brilliantly appointed Hostess was perfect Parisian Breakfast was to die for. Perfect location in an old part of Blois, perfect for exploring Blois and the surrounding area Even though we spoke little French our hostess was patient and we found our own way of communicating Would highly recommend to anyone

Review 23:WOW, what a find. Great location, Great Guesthouse with a breakfast that you simply have to experience to appreciate. When they say Gourmet, they mean it. On top of this, very healthy indeed. Thank you.
Review 24:Hard to communicate since no english from host. sadly we can't understand French. but they are nice person and patient.
Review 25:breakfast, house, decoration and location everything perfect.amazing! definitely want to stay again if go to bloris again!
Review 26:It is very hard to communicate with the owner for any person who don’t understand French.
Review 27:Decoration of the house, breakfast, and very helpful owner, everything was so nice!! I loved all.
Review 28:The house is situated up a hill within a complicated one way system & parking is very tight. Once you're there it's fine!
Review 29:Charming house with old French schoolroom artefacts. Spacious bedroom with light & airy atmosphere. Absolutely amazing breakfast, fruit purees, home made breads & cakes, vast selection of cheeses & fruits all beautifully presented.
Review 30:This was a beautiful property, the best we've stayed in during our trip to France. The room and facilities were lovely and the host assisted us with our additional needs (bike storage, early check in and early breakfast!). The breakfast was extraordinary but we needed a couple of hours to get through all the delicacies! Could not have been better for us.
Review 31:The hostess was completely unable to communicate in English at all. Not a word!? This made the whole booking process extremely difficult and even though I transferred the full amount to her account in advance she sent emails ( in French) saying that for various reasons which I could not decipher I had to pay another 40 euro. When I questioned it in person on checking out, she shrugged as if to say " phoof, I don't speak English and I'm not going to bother trying". So I just had to pay. I feel she may have charged me for the commission she pays Booking.com and for her bank fees.
Review 32:The whole place was stunning, bedroom & bathroom were extremely spacious. The guest lounge was sunny & very comfortable opening on to a courtyard garden. Breakfast was afeast of home made delicacies.
Review 33:Parking is a problem as there is little available and what there is, is for very small cars. The lack of credit card facilities and asking for a deposit in advance can be costly. The lack of any other language than French and the attitude by madam was not pleasant.
Review 34:The location and the facilities are very good.
A recommander!!
Review 37:Extremely warm welcome even though our hosts didn't speak much English & our French limited. Beautiful room fresh flowers tea/coffee making facilities & wonderful shower
Review 38:A little difficult to find the B &B if you don't have a GPS but even then beware of one-way street signs. Owners provided a parking place which was essential.
Review 39:Felt "at home" in this lovely setting. Our hosts were friendly even though we didn't speak the same language, we overcame that barrier with our smart phone translator. Close to town center so could walk to sites and restaurants. Would stay here again!!!
Review 40:Only stayed one night, should have stayed longer!
