Reviews for Le Pic Blanc
Review 1:1) The food was a big issue for our group. I had e-mailed the hotel when we were first booking to check that they could cater for a Coeliac (requiring gluten-free) and a Vegetarian and was told it was not a problem. It was a BIG PROBLEM! I was assured most food was gluten-free, and apart from the occasional slip (like serving me soup with croutons) I had no issues - I just skipped any course not suitable (like dessert). However, my son-in-law is a vegetarian, 6'3" and 26 years old, so a bowl of soup, a plate of lettuce and a few vegetables just didn't satisfy him after a day's skiing! Despite 2 months' notice, speaking to reception twice and making a fuss on our second evening, they still seemed surprised each evening when we asked for a vegetarian option. The waiting staff were mainly very understanding - 2 waitresses apologised when serving him a meagre plate of vegetables. The problem seemed to be in the kitchen - the chef seemed reluctant to make anything special, and we always felt we were a problem they'd rather not deal with. Vegetarians may be rare in France, but they shouldn't have accepted our booking if they weren't prepared to cater for us! The New Year's Eve meal was the exception - they produced a complete vegetarian menu. Otherwise we dreaded going into dinner, knowing we could be in for more complaining. I would not go to this hotel again and do not recommend it to anyone with a dietary requirement. 2) A few things in the public areas were not finished, for example shower at pool not working, lack of signs on doors in ski locker area etc, but suspect renovations were not completely finished. 3) It took us over half an hour when checking out to sort out our bill - it was itemised on a per day basis and the rate changed during the week - we, of course, didn't want to pay more than we'd been quoted on Booking.com! It was fine in the end.
Review 2:1)The property had recently been renovated and the bedrooms and public spaces were tastefully decorated to a high standard. 2)The food was generally of a very high standard, especially the 7 course New Year's Eve dinner. 3) Good location for skiing, handy public car park (free) opposite. 4) Reception staff were helpful. 5)The spa was nice, though they don't tell you on the website that there's a charge of 12 euro per person per hour for use of jacuzzi, steam room & sauna.
Review 3:The views ,location , the staff and the breakfast were wonderful . The Hotel has been refurbished and to a high standard . Great Wifi in the Hotel , but uploads were difficult at times
Review 4:Poor standard of evening meal, limited choice and not great food, very dated style and small portions after a days skiing Unheated dirty boot room- never cleaned Hotel decor in major need of modernisation, overall look of rooms, lobby and lounge very dated, 20-30 years old Not enough plug sockets in rooms for charging phones, only one socket in whole room No tea or coffee making facilities in room Staff were not very friendly or helpful at all Wifi was very poor, very slow to stream
Review 5:Nice swimming pool and sauna in basement Nice location 50m from lift Rooms had nice big double bed which was comfy
Review 6:The room was lovely, the views were stunning and we were only 100m from the main lifts. Friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Review 7:Service throughout the hotel remarkably poor at many levels, particularly at dinner. Insufficient towels available for leisure facilities which were very basic and pool water cloudy. Low value for money.
Review 8:Hotel well situated with short walk to main lifts. Good size comfortable rooms. Receptionist Valerie very helpful with amendments to booking prior to arrival and also arranging that our 5 rooms were adjacent. Thanks.
Review 9:Internet speed was very disappointing, just enough to view a few websites, no good at all for any streaming of music or video at all.
Review 10:Great french dinners with great service!
Review 11:The hot tub was broken the entire week we were there, even though Booking.com listed this location with a jacuzzi (and they did not offer us any sort of discount to compensate for this). The swimming pool was very cold, so this was a big disappointment given that having an apres-ski hot tub is why we selected this hotel. The place is very close to the slopes (5-8 minute walk), but most of the good restaurants/bars are on the other side of town (not too far, about a 15 minute walk). If you are planning to enjoy some of the town's nightlife, you might be better of staying in Jeux, Vieil Alpe or Cognet. Also the wifi is spotty at best. It works in the lobby but not really in the rooms. The restaurant is okay, it serves a decent (basic) breakfast, but I would recommend some of the other great restaurants in town before eating there for dinner.
Review 12:The hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel is very close to the slopes. The room was clean and relatively large. The view of the slopes is also great. The ski/boot room is conveniently located in the front of the building (not in the basement like some places).
Review 13:Great location next to the ski lift, ski hire, shops and restaurants. Very friendly staff at the hotel which also has a bar you can relax in, a log fire and leather lounges. Spoilt for choice at breakfast with views to the mountains from the breakfast room. Would come back and stay.
Review 14:The swimming pool was a little bit cold for my preference and the jacuzzi was out of service. Also, there were no towels in the pool area.
Review 15:The half board rate gave us an excellent four course meal each night. I was expecting a buffet and the quality of the food and table service was generally very high. For NYE the hotel provided free drinks and a 8 course tasting menu for no extra charge - I was thoroughly impressed!
Review 16:The wifi didn't work properly all the time.
Review 17:Excellent location, great views of the surrounding mountains, friendly staff. The room was specious, with a balcony overlooking the resort. The staff was more than helpful and did its best to accommodate all our requests. The food in the restaurant was very good. It's an excellent place to go if you are with kids. We intend to return in the future.
Review 18:you have to pay extra for the spa in the hotel and our package did'nt offer dinner included
Review 19:close to the slopes, amazing food, new clean design
Review 20:The Jacuzzi Was out of order. Shame.
Review 21:Loved the French Alps, best trip ever, huskey sledge ride down the mountains, the amazing le sportif restaurant and le pic blanc!! Loved it
Review 22:None.
Review 23:Food and convenience to slopes.
Review 24:Good diner and beakfast
Review 25:Poor WiFi (unstable)
Review 26:Close to the slopes Good breakfast
Review 27:The hotel was OK, but nothing extra. Often when staying in a hotel you would have possibilities to make your own coffee or boil water in your room, but not at Pic Blanc.
Review 28:Location is quite close to the ski lifts.
Review 29:Bit noisy with snow clearing in the neighbouring car park during early hours / early morning Ski room a bit too compact
Review 30:Proximity to slopes Restaurant
Review 31:No basic tea coffee equipment in rooms. Could do with free sat TV as the only English channel was world news, not really good for the kids. The barman was fun for first 10 mins then was annoying.
Review 32:The hotel was only 300yds from the slopes and lifts. The rooms were clean and tidy. There was a good area to store and change into/out of ski boots etc. Most staff were really helpful and approachable.
Review 33:very slow service in bar, evening food very limited high price and very limited choice particularly for children.
Review 34:location, house keeping staff excellent, sauna lovely
Review 35:The wet floor in the ski locker room where you could not enter with ski boots. Also the scrambled eggs at breakfast - always too dry!
Review 36:Good room size for a single person, and the separate toilet and bathroom. Also the bar and restaurant areas.
Review 37:The breakfast and restaurant area was rather cold - could do with more heating, especially in the evening.
Review 38:Location was very good with lots of parking and shuttle bus stopped outside. Deluxe double room was big and very comfortable. Spa facilities were very good.
Review 39:breakfast was poor (for 14e) the hotel need a refurbishment in general, you feel like staying in a hotel from the 80's. the bed was very old. wifi signal was very very weak and most of the time didn't work.It worked only after midnight till early morning!!! the balcony, not design for sitting and enjoying the view
Review 40:the location swimming pool/sauna
Review 41:1, bring your own kettle for the room. 2, The evening meal was hit andmiss, the first night they were booked out. Then when we got in we wereput in a side part and there was no menu, just a fixed meal. My partnerwas a vegitarian and it was the meal minus the meat as a solution.
Review 42:The room and view was beautiful
Review 43:Got stuck in the lift when it broke down. Phone in room faulty and told by receptionist that it had been faulty for a few weeks. Had two non ordered early morning calls.
Review 44:comfortable bed and pillows
Review 45:Breakfast not included in overall price - a very pricy 14 euro perperson and not particularly special or inspiring
Review 46:Excellent location easy to walk straight from hotel to ski lifts Greatto have use of small pool jacuzzi and sauna - great after a hardday's skiing
Review 47:Was quite expensive to drink / eat in teh hotel. Worth exploring local restaurants
Review 48:5 minute walk to the ski lifts Friendly staff Swimming pool was clean and tidy
Review 49:Price was expensive for stanard of hotel, had to then pay for breakfast on top of this, breakfast was good but expensive. Hot tub in spa area was not very hot and allow children in.
Review 50:Views were fantastic, right beside ski slopes and lots of parking
Review 51:Decor and bedding in rooms need updating. I also wish they offered irons and ironing boards in the room but that is rare from my experiences in France.
Review 52:The location offers excellent views on the southside overlooking a creek in the summer.
Review 53:Sorry have put what I didn't like in the above box!
Review 54:They do not do soya milk, nor did they do cappucino for breakfast. Thetowels in the room were really old, not soft at all or that big. Otherthan that, we were content. Also, the tv did not have any englishprogrammes
Review 55:Need to reserve the restaurant. My sledge was stolen from the lobby.Room service tried to enter the room despite the "do not disturb" sign.
Review 56:Great view. Close to ski facilities. Swiming pool after ski.
Review 57:Breakfasts were not great and an extra 15 euros per day
Review 58:closeness to the slopes and the fact that they booked single rooms
Review 59:Jacuzzi wasnt working Breakfast could have been better
