Reviews for Hotel Dandy
Review 1:Took Booking.com voucher then charged me rack rate so I ended uppaying about 50% over the Booking voucher price. As they took thevoucher from me at check in I had no proof of agreed price. Very badexperience ! Wifi connection very poor in room - effectively notusable for most of my stay.
Review 2:Location and cleanliness
Review 3:Very well located. Close to many restaurants and bars. An individual styled hotel with very attentive service. Close to many restaurants and bars. Clean and comfortable rooms, with coffee making facilities. Good value for money. Have stayed here before.
Review 4:The bed sheets were not clean (hairs inside), and the bath towel smell bad :( Breakfast ok but nothing exceptional
Review 5:The surronding quiet and the location
Review 6:Superbly located close to the Vieux Marché, and yet with underground parking nearby (upon special request) for a small car. Welcoming and hospitable. Good wifi. Did not avail ourselves of breakfast. Two night stay, noisy in the street outside Sat night way past midnight. Comfortable though old-style furniture and bathroom. Coffee capsules for the coffee maker in the room are charged for.
Review 7:Very warm welcome and a lovely room. The hotel is in a pedestrianised historic area - very picturesque. Private parking next to hotel worth booking.
Review 8:Very hard place to find. You had to decide if you wanted breakfast the night before which is not always great as sometimes you do not want breakfast everyday. Charges for parking is very steep as its free in the town overnight.
Review 9:The town itself is very large but is nice if you like a lot of hussle and bussle.
Review 10:I booked a room with a 'large double' bed, which it was, with good pillows and bedside lights/tables. BUT the bed was very uncomfortable. The curtains did not close out the street lights, so I cannot recommend this hotel. Which is a pity as Rouen is a lovely city.
Review 11:Location was good for an overnight pre-ferry stay. The staff were friendly and helpful
Review 12:Charged for everything. Not even a complimentary Coffee. Parking is up a pedestrian area, so you have to find a parking space before you can go and actually get your car into the Hotel parking. Lots of street noise until 4am. Shouting and singing in nearby bars.
Review 13:Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 14:Parking is difficult but not impossible.
Review 15:The owner is delightful and helpful. The location is central to many sights in town. The furnishings are interesting. There is a small elevator.
Review 16:Staff were extremely helpful, even posted my bag of laundry on to me after I negligently left it in the room. Room had views of the street towards the river Seine. Very convenient for the city
Review 17:The location is deceiving and further advanced notification to those booking on-line on how to access the square would cause less frustration.
Review 18:The furnishings are in-line with the age of the building and atmosphere.
Review 19:Not as advertised - our stay did not justify the 3 Star rating on booking.com. Bed the least comfortable we have ever encountered. When we mentioned this to the receptionist she said 'it's a matter of preference' - but this does not justify the levels of discomfort we endured. Shower was also loose. Toilet did not flush effectively. All in all a hotel that may well have been comfortable in 1973, but is no longer. Our greatest disappointment was that the presentation on booking.com was so positive. I would be interested to know on what basis the Dandy is presented as a 3 Star hotel?
Review 20:garage parking very tight to enter and exit garage. Breakfast was not brilliant considering it did cost quite a lot for 4 people.
Review 21:great location and availability to have a code for front entrance to come and go.
Review 22:Lovely hotel conveniently located. Vincent very friendly and helpful. Rooms comfortable and bathrooms a good size. And our dog was made to feel welcome too. Would definitely stay again.
Review 23:The hotel is a little tired - shower hanging off the wall, for instance No aircon - hottest June for years
Review 24:Staff were very pleasant and helpful Location
Review 25:Bedroom in annexe, at top of very narrow strait case. Impossible to reach with large cat box. Facilities extremely old and dated. Will not be going back.
Review 26:Very central
Review 27:Attitude of guy at the reception on arrival, just because with such a poky lift, my wife asked for a room on a lower level. Not much help given when asked about parking close to the place.
Review 28:Location
Review 29:Expensive breakfast(12euro/person even kids) but very little choice in foods. The hotel provides a caffe/tea machine in room but the caffe/tea pods are charged. Very old furniture in room also the decoration.
Review 30:The hotel is just nearby La Ferme Jeanne D'Arc which just around 2 minutes walks.
Review 31:The view, nothing to see except the building walls in front of you. A little dated and tired looking.
Review 32:The location was close to all places of interest. Having secure parking was a bonus, had to pay 13euro's which was fine. We were traveling with 2 children 13 & 11, they had there own room, a -joining with bathroom/shower as did we. The rooms had coffee machines in but you had to pay extra for the coffee/tea pods. Our rooms was right at the top of the hotel which was fine for us.
Review 33:Frederic was obviously not happy in his job! Had difficulty in cracking a smile & while we only moved our car from the garage twice on his watch he seemed to resent handing over the remote control to access it.
Review 34:Christelle was wonderful, so helpful & polite, she even came to open the lift door when she heard us descending. Vincent too, but he was only on duty the day we arrived as he was off on holiday the following day. We would certainly give Christelle maximum points.
Review 35:Parking was extremely difficult, and it took us half an hour to park because the hotel couldn't get their car park open.
Review 36:We booked this at 7pm before checking in at 10. They were really helpful and friendly and great value - we got a free upgrade to a superior room. The location was brilliant, and we were really impressed by Rouen's nightlife.
Review 37:The entrance to the parking is very narrow and steep. If you're travelling with a big vehicle you'll probably find it challenging to park here. It was suprising to find out that we had to pay for making use of the tea/coffee facility in our room. The room was overheated during the night, but this seems to be a common practice in most hotels in France.
Review 38:Location was convenient.
Review 39:No wifi, room was dirty... dusting before customer's arrival would be appreciated. Such an old hotel; a sign says "take your mobile with in the lift". The lift does not even reach all the rooms.
Review 40:Almost nothing
Review 41:The bed is not so comfortable, we only got 2 small pillows. Everytime i flush the toilet, i feel like its going to fall apart. Toilet bowl is shaky. We stayed in room 12. The room is quite small.
Review 42:The wifi was fast. The front desk was very helphul. The older lady who spoke english was very nice. She help us get directions to omaha beach. The younger lady in the morning shift didnt speak english but she help us get our car in and helped us checked in. She was very helpful. Merci!
Review 43:Need a detailed map to access by car. We struggled to find the hotel with one way streets and restricted access entries.
Review 44:Central to all city amenities. Room was large enough for us even with queen size bed.
Review 45:Once I figured out how to access the street everything was more than fine. You can walk down a cobblestone street to shops and restaurants and a church with amazing architecture. Vincent (the proprietor) was charming and helpful.
Review 46:Tea and coffee were available in room, but not free - that's pretty cheap.
Review 47:Room was clean, elevator actually worked, location is good, staff are friendly.
Review 48:Not good wi-fi signal on the top floor.
Review 49:We took a room under the roof, it was very nice, comfortable and quiet with lovely interior. Also there is a private parking for additional payment.
Review 50:Shabby and tired décor with stained dirty curtains. Unhelpful, uninterested man on reception (only person we saw on our stay). He only gave the bare minimum of information that was absolutely required of him. pokey corridors and the tiniest of lifts: no bar in the "hotel", it really was just a bed for the night and expensive for what it was. Bathroom smelled of the drains: this was improved when I ran the water through all the fittings for a length of time
Review 51:Very central position, though do not have a room facing the street if you can't sleep through party noise (busy bar opposite). Safe parking but 13 euros a night extra. Good sized bed in the superior room
Review 52:Odd, less than helpful staff. Mean breakfasts. Impossibly difficult parking space. Tiny lift, which sounds unimportant except when you are on upper floors.
Review 53:Great location near Pl Vieux Marche. Nice room. Effective double glazing.
Review 54:Lack of proper shower Lack of simple tea/coffee making facilities Room locations would be difficult for less mobile individuals
Review 55:Staff Location Parking availability Room cleanliness
Review 56:The cleanliness. There was a coffee/tea machine in the room. Inside the water dispenser I found an insect which appeared to be there for a long time. While most of the hotels offer a kettle and free tea bags the Hotel Dandy would charge for a capsule of tea.
Review 57:The location is excellent. Near the station, near the old city center but far enough to keep you away from the crowd.
Review 58:The hotel is slightly dated.. Wasn't too keen on the number of guys hanging around in nearby streets selling cannabis.
Review 59:Central location.Clean enough.
Review 60:Parking for the bike at 13 euro, a tad steep. Although I guess itwas secure.
Review 61:The location was close to the centre where there are many nicerestaurants. The quaintness of the hotel and quirky furniture suited theold building, the wifi connection was also good. Secure parking for themotorcycle.
Review 62:The quartier is not the best, but very near the main attractions
Review 63:The staff is excellent; in particular Vincent has been a great lanlord (thanks for the dinner suggestion)
Review 64:Had no dislikes, but for those who want modern hotel facilities might be a little limited.
Review 65:Quiet,very friendly,well located hotel.Traditional furnishing,limited room space used effectively,clean.
Review 66:Nothing.
Review 67:Good location so that you can easily walk to all highlights of the city with the added bonus of car parking. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 68:No receptionist upon arrival parking difficult to find bed uncomfortable Security automatic door which had a delay poor area with rough types hanging about drinking and shouting by late night shop. woken at six by road cleaning.
Review 69:Nothing decor could have been nice....
Review 70:Bed a bit hard and you really need to budget for parking
Review 71:Loved the location, the nice lady in reception, the quirky old fashioned nature of the place and the breakfast.
Review 72:Bit noisy, but understandable in view of the date. At other times I am sure it is perfectly OK so do not be put off by the above. Probably best to go for a back room, although do not know if this will make it any quieter.
Review 73:Well situated near the centre of Rouen, this small Hotel was perfecr for our overnight stop and visit to the town. If offers parking underground for your car ( albeit it is a very tight parking area!) so you do not have to worry about getting rid of your car in such a large City. The rooms are adequate and we had a large quiet electric fan in our front room which was useful as we stayed on World cup night when France lost so we were treated to many locals singing the French national Anthem at about 5 in the morning! Therefore you would not want to sleep with an open window! Not the fault of the Hotel owner, sadly due to France losing. For a City Hotel it is pretty good value. Staff very helpful and we had an excellent meal at " Minute et Mijote" just down the road and recommended by the owner (?) who is not connected !
Review 74:Noise from the street at night. Coffee maker didn't seem to work.
Review 75:Staff very friendly and helpful. Large room with comfortable bed and good bathroom.
Review 76:Wi-Fi was the best of our 5 weeks on the continent Decor was interesting ......bed very comfortable and room bigger than a lot in France. Convenient in the old town but very quiet.
Review 77:It's very well located but a little difficult to find
Review 78:Very friendly helpful staff, clean room with good facilities, very good breakfast.
Review 79:A very nice reception.
Review 80:building is old with steep stairs and small elevator
Review 81:excellent location charming 18th century building very friendly staff
Review 82:Far from it's 3 star rating - Rooms dated, safe in room not working, charge for tea/coffee in room, claustrophobic lift!
Review 83:Location, parking and staff
Review 84:UNSTABLE WIFI
Review 85:LOCATION IS GOOD
Review 86:The service was fantastic and we always got a cheery reception. The location is fabulous, only a few minutes walk from the main attractions.
Review 87:My wife left one bag in the room when we left and without any problems Vincent sent it to us
Review 88:Not having total access to your car once parked. Great location
Review 89:Convenience to city centre
Review 90:Location staff
Review 91:Parking was a pain
Review 92:Friendly staff

Review 99:Unhelpful staff after a long journey to say follow car park signs
Review 100:Great location
Review 101:The Hotel staff were very friendly and spoke perfect English.
Review 102:Parking. Very tight. Don't book if you have a large car.
Review 103:The bar opposite is worth a visit
Review 104:The interior is a bit oldie, but clean.
Review 105:The staff, the location, interior.
Review 106:We could see everything we wanted to see by traveling of foot. Large selection of restaurants near by.
Review 107:breakfast limited
Review 108:very central location. parking
Review 109:No staff in dinning room to explain breakfast. When it was added to Bill it was more expensive than better hotels including breakfast.
Review 110:Standards okay
Review 111:The Dandy is a great small family run hotel that is hard to beat for value ,charm & a friendly warm welcome
Review 112:Room was dimly lit, a couple of light bulbs were out and not renewed during our visit.
Review 113:Very central, well placed for visiting all the sites.
Review 114:Staff and aristocracy decoration. Localization is perfect.
Review 115:Shower really old fashioned (hand held in the bath with a shower curtain)
Review 116:Location great7
Review 117:In lovely old part of city with added convience of secure parking
Review 118:Wifi was not available in the room as it said it was.
