Reviews for Hôtel De France - Restaurant L'insolite

Review 1:Unfortunately, it rained the day we visited the restaurant and thus spoiled our plans to go for a nice long walk along the coast after lunch.

Review 2:We only went to the Hotel restaurant, which was excellent. The oysters, in particular, were superb.

Review 3:Warm welcome, helpful staff, nice blend of old and new decor, great location in center of town. I will definitely stay here again my next time in Douarnenez. The restaurant was an unexpected pleasure--easily the best place to eat in this lovely town.

Review 4:The midges if you kept the window open! Not the fault of the hotel!!

Review 5:The staff made this place a 'stand out' hotel for my trip. The Maitre d'hôtel had a great sense of humour, a great knowledge of the food and a willingness to help. We were complimentary about the food and the michelin star chef popped out to say ''merci!" Breakfast was great!

Review 6:There were mosquitoes in the room, but they provided a "Raid" plug that we could leave plugged overnight.

Review 7:Nice room and very friendly staff. Very good recommendations about the restaurant.

Review 8:Building is difficult to update the rooms, however they are clean and value.

Review 9:Restaurant is the best in town, dinner is "a work of art", excellent value.

Review 10:Comfortable atmosphere in a family run hotel. Good value for money. Restaurant was indeed unusual. Service could not be faulted and the creativity of the chef was amazing. The main dish was slightly disappointing as the fish had been overcooked. Wine list was very expensive but the wine we chose was very nice.

Review 11:Shower too small - I hate the shower curtains that cling to you

Review 12:We booked a double room and got a family room, so spacious & comfortable. Late check out 12 noon is very nice when you are on holidays. Restaurant food very good and exceptionally nice staff.

Review 13:No lift so stairs with luggage could be difficult. However staff will help.

Review 14:Food was very high standard and a well priced high quality wine list was available. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. There were some nice contemporary art pieces and table lanterns by Yann Kersale added a chic dimension to their vision for this excellent value hotel.

Review 15:This hotel is truly rewarding, everyone is really nice and takes care ofyou from arrival to departure. Despite my very late arrival in such anoff-season period , I.E. at 1:00 am on late November, someone waswaiting for me , even so long after closing time. I only had time for adelicious and generous breakfast due to a business appointment but along survey of the lunch and dinner menus made me regret I could notstay any longer. I will definitely be back sooner than later and willmake sure to indulge at l'Insolite restaurant.

Review 16:Nothing much really beside the location, despite being verycentral as we expected, we could have enjoyed a location by theport with a sea view!

Review 17:The quoits of the room, en suite, large, comfortable and the feeling tobe at home. The restaurant offers an original and very sophisticatedmenu, fairly priced wines and sophisticated desserts, the breakfastbuffet and their local specialties and artisanal jams. The service wasvery warm and dilligent and the head chef who is also the owner of theHotel gave us the receipt of their delicious Asian version of "LeFinancier" cake.

Review 18:Cosy homely place, it must have been a luxury place in yesteryear...

Review 19:A nice provincial hotel. Good value for money. A spacious room, comfortably appointed, at a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and helpful.
