Reviews for Castle Court
Review 1:I think it is slightly over priced (we paid £75 for room only).......you could hear people talking etc from other rooms.....some sound proofing would enhance the experience!
Review 2:The staff were excellent, atmosphere was lovely........bar was very cosy too!! The location was excellent, next to the castle and the sea.
Review 3:The glass shelf above the sink made it uncomfortable to wash my face. The extractor fan didn't switch off in the night. The staff member who received us in exercised dry wit bordering on rudeness. Perhaps his idea of humour.
Review 4:We needed an overnight base from which to visit relatives in the area. Castle Court provided that base. The breakfast was very enjoyable.
Review 5:This hotel was a bit pricey.
Review 6:Staff, particularly Oliver, was very friendly and helpful. Oliver was an excellent host, he even waited for our later arrival (after 23:00, due to our work arrangements and different locations we work in UK), otherwise we would have ended up on a bench.
Review 7:small problem with toilet but management gave us a bottle of wine offered free breakfast and did not charge us for our stay..although the problem was not there fault they were very accomadating
Review 8:Quiet central location with good views of the castle, the countryside and the sea. Easy access for unloading the car. Simple modern décor. Very helpful staff and good breakfast choices with two price bands.
Review 9:Breakfast could have been a bit bigger! But in saying that it Was lovely and there was plenty of toast!!
Review 10:Staff lovely, rooms perfect size and comfortable. We came for a family wedding. (A short distance away). Highly recommend. Very accessible to the town.
Review 11:Very convenient for the beach, the car park and the town. The full breakfast was great, very tasty. Twin bedroom was small but, hey, we weren't staying in during the day, so not a problem. Probably a bit overpriced!
Review 12:One hand towel for two people, waste bin did not get emptied until we placed both bins together in room. In second room heater was not secured to wall, should have been fixed but we did advise management of its condition in case they were unaware of this.
Review 13:Staff, welcome , breakfast. Asking for an extra nights stay was arranged but meant moving room for one night. Not problem for us, staff even moved cases for us to other room. Excellent
Review 14:Room on second floor unsuitable for my brother who survives on oxygen. Not aware of this when booking. Advised staff but no other option offered. Also no parking facilities close to building.
Review 15:The wifi. It keeps me awake at night. Would be great to switch it off between 12 and 7am. Just saying, as I know EVERYONE does wifi, but nobody thinks about the long-term effects on the human brain.
Review 16:Everything
Review 17:Very opinionated male Member of staff.
Review 18:Stayed here for 4 nights was a lovely hotel, rooms were small but perfect and clean had everything you need. A truely relaxing stay.
Review 19:It's an old building and the plumbing was somewhat unpredictable. Beds too soft for us - but that's a personal preference. It may suit others
Review 20:Excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfasts, very good wifi reception, value for money.
Review 21:There was nothing that we didn't like.
Review 22:Katherine & Guy made us most welcome, and the accommodation was very comfortable. A bonus for us was the on-site bar facilities with an outdoor piazza which during our visit was bathed in sunshine. Excellent (optional) breakfast was very good value in both its continental or 'full Welsh' versions.
Review 23:We stayed for 2 nights, but when they came in to clean the room while we were out they just put the dirty towels back on the rail and didn't change any bedding, though it was clean when we first arrived. They merely changed the tiny bin bags and fixed the bedding. The noise between rooms was pretty bad too.
Review 24:The staff were very friendly, the location was incredible and perfectly situated for a short stay. Nice views, not the very best views, but still nice (photo attached of view from room 9)
Review 25:Booked on the spur of the moment on the back of what other people said,eg friendly atmosphere, upon check in found the chap a little condescending, then left us at the bar that evening waiting to be served, only to come back after a good while to serve his friend or a local, so we left the and took our business elsewhere. They may of been understaffed but there's no excuse for no communication. The bathroom in our room clearly gets wet on the floor and the flooring is not sealed leaving a musty smell, central location but over priced to say there's no breakfast included.
Review 26:Guy is not very hospitable, polite but not very welcoming. The bar closes at 11pm therefore as residents we felt we were being sent to bed. we went to the Liverpool Arms due to this and were still there at 12:30 with no signs of being told they were colsing. The showers are very week.
Review 27:The location is great for the purpose of our visit.
Review 28:Noisy neighbours coming in late at night but that's not the hotel's fault, some people are just so inconsiderate!
Review 29:Great location, excellent breakfast & friendly host.
Review 30:Wi fi could be better and breakfast could be included ... Then it would be perfect x
Review 31:Very comfortable nights sleep great location. Two windows in room have 2 different views which was nice. Very clean.
Review 32:Over-familiar proprietor. Room was tiny. Overnight parking in public car parks difficult unless you want to move car at 8am - although not much evidence of parking attendants and we didn't get a ticket.
Review 33:Best location, castle view. Good breakfast. Fan provided in room and windows do open.
Review 34:No parking meant that we had to keep moving our car to avoid a parking ticket. The car park opposite the hotel had an overnight charge but this ran out at 6am! Not the hotels fault.
Review 35:Lovely breakfast,very friendly staff.Short walk to all restaurants.rea
Review 36:Delightful young couple running a cosy b&b. Great location. Breakfast was great in a lovely dining area. Room perhaps a little small but clean and for one night it was not really a problem. On the whole, excellent.
Review 37:Cars have to be parked either in the nearby public car park, or over-night on the promenade a stones-throw from the hotel.
Review 38:Well-placed for shops, pubs, restaurants, promenade and other places of interest. The lounge was a pleasant facility and drinks can be taken in there. If you like easy-going,this is the place for you.
Review 39:The bed needs a foam good good foam topper. It was too hard. A second duvet would have been nice - for those of us who sleep with windows open.
Review 40:Beautiful refurbished. Great staff. Location!
Review 41:Bedroom really too small. Perhaps the owners could have been more hands on in the pub area.
Review 42:Excellent location at a small hotel ran by a charming young couple.I have no doubt that The Castle Court will continue to go from strength to strength in the next few years.
Review 43:There was no private parking available, however, there was a large car park opposite but at an additional cost.
Review 44:The location was excellent with views of Beaumaris Castle and the Menai Strait. The staff at Castle Court were very friendly and helpful, the beds were very comfy and the breakfast was great. We found plenty of choice of places to eat out in the evening and we had two excellent meals and the Pier Head Bistro. This was our first visit to Anglesey and we will definitely be back.
Review 45:We loved everything.
Review 46:The situation was ideal, the room had a lovely view , couldn't fault the staff, breakfast was delicious and we took advantage of happy hour in the bar.
Review 47:I didn't like dealing with Booking.com They got important details misleadingly wrong, and made me an "Upgrade" offer of a less satisfactory room at a higher price - using the identical room photo! I rang the hotel itself in the end.
Review 48:Location, staff, room, breakfast, bed - everything.
Review 49:Bed could use a good thick foam topper. It was pretty hard. Could use an extra blanket.
Review 50:All fresh and clean. Very attractive throughout. Very nice room (with a view of Menai Straight) and ensuite. Very helpful staff. Strong wifi. Right near the Main Street and the water.
Review 51:The staff were very helpful when it came to getting around, they provided us with a taxi number and also information on the area. The room was comfortable and just right for the two of us. Very clean and cosy!
Review 52:Unable to open bedroom window!!
Review 53:Bed very comfortable - breakfast cooked well and Gluten free option available! Hotel small and homely , staff very friendly
Review 54:Was warned on website re stairs and owners kindly enquired about the reason we requested low floor as stairs are steep and narrow
Review 55:Usually stay in hotels so it was first time in a B&B Wasn't disappointed very friendly more personal than big hotel Spotlessly clean
Review 56:Although we had one of the smaller double rooms it didn't spoil our time there at all, and the bed and pillows were really comfy!
Review 57:The location was lovely, staff really friendly and the breakfast was great!!!
Review 58:One minor issue was mould on the bathroom roof, and the window latch was broken causing the window to rattle in the wind. Also couldn't connect to the WiFi properly, but that was no major issue!
Review 59:The staff were warm and welcoming, the breakfast was beautiful, view from the room was amazing, the place is nicely decorated and clean. En-suite shower and toilet facilities. The lounge and the bar were a very nice addition, barman friendly and drinks reasonably priced.
Review 60:Some renos going on while we were there, probably completed now, twas early in season.
Review 61:Friendly amenable staff & owners, great location. Staff made several long distance calls to find a place for us to leave our luggage in Caernarfon upon our departure to spend a day exploring castle there. Staff also encouraged us to use breakfast room for other meals we may want to bring in, providing dishes & cutlery
Review 62:Although I knew there was no breakfast & no parking included in the price I thought, for the price, the rooms would be alot better. It was comfortable but a little tired looking.
Review 63:the location on the square, it was peaceful & quiet with a nice bar.
Review 64:The walls are quite thin so could hear guest in next room quite clearly, but this is still good value for money for a short break.
Review 65:Lovely views from our room on the top floor, very welcoming staff, very clean room and comfy bed. No evening meals provided but the staff were very helpful and recommended a great local Italian restaurant (Tredici).
Review 66:No free parking, and service at breakfast was a little pedestrian- but nothing which affected the enjoyment of our stay.
Review 67:Great views over the Menai strait, perfect central location next to the castle and courthouse, 2 minute walk from the pier. Comfortable, clean and cozy room and friendly staff.
Review 68:the room was small, but very clean & very comfortable. the breakfast was great nice & hot,you were asked if you wanted more toast & tea.we will be going back
Review 69:The town is charming and friendly. Hotel is well located across from the Besumaris Castle and steps to the sea. Pub in hotel is friendly and lively. Small but comfortable rooms
Review 70:Stay too short
Review 71:Room overlooking Beaumaris castle. Good biscuits in room. Breakfast superb. Perfectly located for Welsh Coastal Path and all of Beaumaris shops and dining.
Review 72:Expensive for the size of room given that breakfast wasn't included.
Review 73:The breakfast was excellent (but not included in the cost) which at £75 per night we would have thought it should be. The staff are friendly and the bar is very nice.
Review 74:Only problem was getting wifi to connect. It wasn't very clearly signposted so it took us a little while to realise we were actually stood outside the hotel we were looking for.
Review 75:The room was charming and the breakfast delicious. The hotel is above a public house but there was no noise as the building is ancient and the walls thick.
Review 76:Nothing in particular. If I need to mentioned something, it will be the heater was not warm much.
Review 77:Everything was clean. The staff were very professional. I really felt at home while staying there.
Review 78:No problems
Review 79:Comfortable and clean; very quiet. I was made to feel very welcome from the start The decor is very good throughout and the breakfast is to be recommended. Great location - peaceful and quiet town with stunning views. No car park but parking arrangements not a problem with a reasonably priced public car park closeby.
Review 80:No bad points really - only the stairs to reach the rooms may be a problem to someone with dodgy knees:)
Review 81:Great location easy parking on the green and very helpful staff where nothing was a problem. Cosy bar with good cask beers and friendly owners/barstaff.
Review 82:The bed was a little on the narrow side, but I suspect that was to make more space in the room, which was on the third floor (with view of castle). The wi-fi was struggling to reach the third floor!
Review 83:The staff are really friendly. The rooms are well insulated from the sound of a lively bar. The hotel is spotless and has the perfect location.
Review 84:Staff were very friendly and the owner was very chatty. Looks like it's had some work done and from what the owner was saying it's only going to get better. Great find!
Review 85:No direct car parking provision though we were aware of this. £80 for B & B on a Sunday at the end of March is probably stretching the price however my wife thinks I have still not adjusted to decimalisation.
Review 86:* Excellent location. * Stylishly and tastefully decorated. * Quality, freshly made and served full breakfast. * Linked cosy, small bar with real ales and roaring fire.
Review 87:Katherine and Guy, were welcoming and simply couldn't do enough to help. Oliver was a one-man tourist information centre as well as making sure I had fresh milk for my tea instead of the packet stuff and Chloe was kind and always interested in how I was getting on. Oliver was happy to book a restaurant and all staff were available at all times. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel is ideally placed in Beaumaris and was clean, warm and cosy. Wonderful.
Review 88:room was very cold unless you left heater on all night. Only one thin duvet and no blankets. Room was very basic and looked like it was filled with office furniture. bathroom was cold and pretty depressing.
Review 89:Breakfast service was good and room was pretty clean.
Review 90:Wi Fi connection was poor There was no hair dryer in the room. No doors on the wardrobe, & the room was very cold on arrival.
Review 91:Breakfast was excellent. Oliver the barman was very helpful despite being very busy he found time to recommend some local attractions.
Review 92:Felt like being in a travel lodge once in bedroom as décor bland.Stairway and landings smelt musty as did not appear to be any heating on them. No toilet roll holder in our bathroom.
Review 93:Location good for Christmas market event. Lounge and breakfast areas newly decorated. Bathroom very new and clean. Staff very friendly.
Review 94:very nice location, loved the sitting room nicely decorated and a coal fire, nice friendly bar area again with a coal fire, a truly nice place to stay
Review 95:Rooms slightly on the cosy side. Could have smaller wardrobe and would have been nice to have an armchair.
Review 96:Location superb; bed extremely comfortable. Oliver (barman/bellboy/porter/restuarant booker/advice on parking giver) the is the most customer focussed person I have ever met! Even ran out to buy cream to make Irish coffees for us! Breakfast excellent
Review 97:Not so much the room, which was very ordinary and functional rather than attractive.
Review 98:Obviously the owners are very committed to making a go of the business and nothing was too much trouble to them. The hotel has a most attractive position and the breakfasts were really well cooked and presented.
Review 99:Going in to the Bathroom there was a carpet gripper that was very painful when stood on, Other than that everything else was excellent.
Review 100:Room very Comfortable Breakfast Excellent Staff very Pleasant
Review 101:There is no on-site parking facilities although the Beaumaris Green parking is just next door - virtually - at a cost of £4 per day.
Review 102:The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and put us on for the whole day. We booked a double room which had an good view of the Beaumaris Castle. It was small but clean and comfy with en-suite facilities. Our best recommendation is that we would book this again.
Review 103:Guy & Katherine excellent hosts. Great breakfast. Lovely cosy bar with open fire and the sound of people enjoying themselves with new friends and banter. Recommend the "Splendid" bitter.
Review 104:After an arduous walk, a soak in the bath would have eased the aches but our room only offered a shower.
Review 105:Excellent location, our room had double aspect, one with view of castle and other of Menai Strait. Recently renovated property had lovely feel and owners and staff helpful and friendly. No evening meal offered but Beaumaris has plenty of good restaurants. No parking at Castle Court but parking on green close by and inexpensive and no problem finding a space.
Review 106:Nothing significant
Review 107:Character of the building and the room. Friendliness of the staff. Breakfast was excellent. Beaumaris is also a very pleasant village
Review 108:The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and the breakfast excellent. I liked the lights being operated by movement sensors in the shower room and on stairs and landings.
Review 109:This hotel is in a superb location in Beaumaris. It's just recently been taken over by a young couple Guy and Claire who have made some excellent changes. The bedding was lovely and clean and beds very comfortable. The staff could do enough for us. We Asked for a quiet room and we got it. The breakfast was excellent, it was all that you could ask for.
Review 110:Access to upper floors - very steep stairs. OK for able-bodied!
Review 111:Personable staff - very helpful & cooperative. Breakfast was wholesome & the dining area was spotless. Good location opposite castle.
Review 112:I was travelling with my infant daughter and on arrival/at breakfast the owners kept making a point of saying "they don't have facilities for babies". I have checked their site and emails btw us and this was never mentioned. It was fine as my girl could sit in the chair at breakfast but their comments really weren't necessary and made us feel quite unwelcome.
Review 113:The room was just big enough and had a decent breakfast.
Review 114:Guy and Katherine made us really welcome. Great bar, good beer, friendly folk. Comfortable facilities and a good breakfast to start each day. Great location for exploring Beaumaris and Anglesey.
Review 115:Duvet cover had been washed in a scented soap and I have an allergy to flowery scents. Our room was two floors up and stairs were steep.
Review 116:Room was good with tea making facilities and TV. we were only staying one night but everything fine. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 117:Too short a holiday. Must make it a longer stay next year.
Review 118:Fantastic views across to the mainland. The 13th century castle. the old courthouse & the gaol made our visit very interesting. The old Grammar School held a brilliant art display from local artists. Good choice of eating places to suit all tastes. Discovered more of the island this time. Lovely sandy beaches & The Ship Inn provided excellent food. Excellent hotel completed our holiday.
Review 119:... except for car parking, it was £3 for a day and £1 overnight on "the Green" (it seems to be flexible), but it was only ~50 metres away and we could see the car from our room - this is outside the control of the owners. The entrance was difficult to find. A very loose ledge to put the computer on.
Review 120:Friendliness of new owners, Guy & Catherine, and Sarah (and the guy in the bar who helped us with our luggage). The view. Excellent location - within easy reach of the town and tour boats, and we've never stayed across the road from a castle before ...
Review 121:All satisfactory,thank you.
Review 122:Staff,particularly friendly and helpful. Oliver who ran the bar most evening's when we were there, particularly welcoming and entertaining. Place was as described. Good breakfast, owners working hard to ensure satisfaction-and visible at all times.
Review 123:We have nothing to comment in this section as everything met with our expectations.
Review 124:The location of the Castle Court is ideally situated and the cleanliness was excellent. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and were always happy to help. We would not hesitate to book at the Castle Court when we next visit Anglesey.
Review 125:The decor was a little dated but the new owners have only been there since February 2014. The room was £10 extra for the 2 nights for a deluxe room but in fact was very basic. the shower was very weak and temperamental of the heat. I can not see how it could be deluxe. The floodlight outside room 8 stayed on all night. The bar closed at 11pm which is probably due to the license but a group of us were in Beaumaris and could have spent alot more in bar if open.
Review 126:The location was excellent, the staff at the hotel were very welcoming and friendly and great company. The rooms were of nice size. Very good breakfast.
Review 127:found it a little expensive for the one room, had to park 100 yard in public car park
Review 128:Owners very nice great breakfast, room comfortable, great real ale, nice feel to the place, nice views, shops and restarants,
Review 129:We were unlucky enough to have some noisy seagulls and fellow guest for company but that's just pot luck. Parking was a bit of an issue, but you can't have everything with such a great location and view. Unfortunately the bathroom extractor kept coming on in the night which woke us up a couple of times. For next year they could make breakfast officially from 8.00 for those guests who need to get on the road early and put a bit more milk in the rooms for tea.
Review 130:lovely place nice cosy little bar, The room was cleaned every day and the mix of drinks and biscuits were spot on. Good luck with the plans to renovate/extend the bar area and add extra space for lunch or evening meals next year, we are sure it will be a great asset to a great place.
Review 131:Nothing I didn't like but it needed a couple of gentle touches., shelf in bathroom for toiletries, an armchair in bedroom would have been nice. Not all lights worked in bathroom. Lighting could be a bit more atmospheric in bedroom, it was a bit dull.
Review 132:Cleanliness, efficient and pleasant staff. Shower worked a treat. Bedding was nice and fresh and towels good quality. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 133:The stairs - unfortunately there isn't a lift, but you can't have everything.
Review 134:The room was very clean and had a comfortable bed. The ensuite was also very clean. The room we were allocated overlooked the castle and grounds. Two nice large windows and a great breakfast the following morning. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we enjoyed our stay so much that we've booked to go again.
