Reviews for Best Western Hôtel La Rade
Review 1:hallways a little dark
Review 2:friendly staff fantastic location excellent breakfast room and terrace area-sunny with a very nice view light and comfortable room -large bed and good linens well above average breakfast inviting lobby area with hot drinks available 24/7 parking outside/nearby
Review 3:we had constant WiFi difficulties at the hotel. The staff was somewhat evasive about the problem.
Review 4:The location was great. Just a short walk to the port and to the calanques trail. Beautiful view from the pool area. The breakfast was really varied and delicious and well worth the cost.
Review 5:Small rooms even though we had a family connected room - still quite tight. Our room was very hot. Wifi was terrible.
Review 6:Location, very close to the harbor. Pool was nice if the weather had been a little warmer.
Review 7:The lock to the front was very difficult to lock and unlock. This lock needs to be replaced. Several ceiling light bulbs are out. The in unit coffee maker doesn't work
Review 8:Loved the view from the junior suite
Review 9:Steps to get inside with all our luggage were nasty - need a ramp. Steps to get up to first floor with all our luggage. Had to put feet into shower to use toilet pathetically small! Front desk lady very gruff and could have cared less about customers was "quite inconvenienced" in attitude about any of needs. Although it was nonsmoking throughout, the help smoked right outside our window which was where the back of the hotel was.
Review 10:The breakfast was wonderful. Pool and hot tub Incredibly clean!
Review 11:Room was very small, tight quarters. Lots of steps to haul luggage into the hotel. No bus stop in immediate area, so had to walk uphill with luggage to get there.
Review 12:Great pool, great view from rooftop. Breakfast was excellent. Coffee and fruit available in lobby all day long. Staff was friendly and helpful. Easy walk into town, yet far enough away to remain quiet at night.
Review 13:very small desk in the room
Review 14:Calm, free garage box, wifi, good breakfast with a splendid view from the terrasse, walking distance to the beach and the restaurants...
Review 15:Having an English news channel would be an advantage on the TV but not essential with free wi-fi.
Review 16:Really liked this hotel, staff were very friendly and attentive. Hotel pool area was a great plus and the pool was heated and very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel if visiting Cassis. Remember to book parking if driving as parking on the street is very limited.
Review 17:The rooms are a little small but comfortable. We did have to ask for the complimentary tea to be replenished the first morning but after that it was fine
Review 18:The hotel's setting is first class and just a short walk to the harbour. The breakfast was first class and a very good choice.
Review 19:Be sure to request a larger "comfort suite" because their sizes vary and the small one was difficult to fit more than one baby bed into...
Review 20:We LOVED the breakfast, complete with make-your-own waffles, squeeze your own orange juice, and boil your own eggs. Plus, the warm pool and hot tub were fun.
Review 21:the hotel itself is in dire need of a refresh as it is a bit frayed on the edges. the hallways are gloomy with a very strong hospital disinfectant smell (i guess on the plus side that hopefully meant there were less germs...); rooms are small and very basic; the bathrooms need new fixtures as our phone shower looked moldy/rusty.
Review 22:great location just 5 mins walk from the old port. breakfast area had a panoramic view of the Med and the Cap Canaille. staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 23:Our room wasn't ready for us despite arriving after the quoted arrival time. No guaranteed parking. Our particular room was tiny. Cassis is wonderful though and more than made up for any niggles we had re the hotel.
Review 24:The pool is excellent and there are plenty of sunbeds and loungers.
Review 25:No lift in this property. rooms alittle small and parking is limited in peak season
Review 26:Good location for harbour. Lovely views. really nice pool area. Great breakfast and Helpful staff.
Review 27:The hotel is looking tired and needs a refurbishment. The location is what you are paying for. I would say that a similar chain hotel in the UK would be around half the price we paid (£300 for a 2 nights stay excluding breakfast).
Review 28:The location was very good - just a few minutes walk uphill from the harbour.
Review 29:Room quite compact, mini bar same temperature as room, air con struggled.
Review 30:Lovely terrace with super view. Friendly and helpful staff. Pre-book able daily parking.
Review 31:Location is ideal - close to lovely fishing village but just back from the main hustle and bustle. The pool is fabulous and the staff very pleasant and helpful.
Review 32:There was no shade around the swimming pool. The balcony was so small we could only just stand on it together. Very weak air-conditioning that struggled with the summer temperatures. No lift
Review 33:Location. Well equipped room.
Review 34:With such a beautiful location and town its a shame the staff all seemed a little unhappy and not very chatty.
Review 35:The beautiful view from the outdoor area.Clean and comfortable rooms.
Review 36:Our classic room was extremely small, and the staff, though helpful at times, had difficulty getting us a cab for our ride to the train station. If you are without a car, you need to make arrangements for a taxi to get to and from the train station. We found this to be difficult, and, though we did eventually get a taxi, it was not easy. Also, the hot tub is not open on the weekdays, and maintenance was being done on the pool area during our stay.
Review 37:This hotel has a wonderful location in a picture-perfect village.
Review 38:Some of the reception staff was very unfriendly and not welcoming at all, somehow expected in France with this typical French attitude.
Review 39:Heated swimming pool was nice but the terrace that surrounded the pool was in poor state and quality. The wood was freschly treated and smelled very bad and the product sticked to the feet... The hotel location was excellent, the room was functional with kids as we stayed in Business Suite.
Review 40:Room and bathroom facilities just too small in their Classic room 128 for comfort- not enough space 2 nights was enough.
Review 41:Helpful staff, off road parking, clean and heated pool.
Review 42:We left our bags in the car and packed a smaller bag so we didn't have to lug our heavy bag up the stairs to our room on the 2nd floor. That's just the hotel though. It didn't have a lift which is like many hotels throughout France.
Review 43:Hotel was very close to all the action and activities in Cassis and had a wonderful outlook.
Review 44:* Getting to the room one has to go through a badly lit corridor which already raises a strange feeling of what will await one in the room. * The very same corridor has a storage room in the middle, the door of which was half open (thus blocking the corridor) almost all morning. To make it more challenging to pass, in front of it lay the vacuum cleaner and a bucket with its cleaning mop. * The bathroom (room #17) had mold on and between some of the tiles as well as on part of the cable of the hair dryer. With the ventilation not working in a bathroom with no window this seems inevitable but is still unacceptable. * Equally unpleasant was the amount of dust behind the heater in the bathroom as well as the bad smell. * The room itself was nicely furnished and rather clean apart from a cork under the bed which was not from us but apparently from previous guests. * The wi-fi was ok in the public area near the reception but rather poor in our room so that it was difficult to use it without having to search for better signal all the time. * Upon check-out we were presented with two breakfasts on our bill which we had not consumed. They were both instantly removed from the bill with no further comment when we mentioned that we had not had breakfast. Despite the good location, the pool and terrace not a place we would recommend.
Review 45:* The pool and terrace overlooking the beach is the best this hotel offers. * To be fair one should also mention that the rooms seem to have been renovated recently and have a pleasant modern design. * Check-out at 12:00.
Review 46:This hotel has a terrific breakfast. Do not miss it. Dining/sitting/Bar area has Panoramic view of Cassis and ocean. Just breathtaking. Super pool area with same view. It up on a hill overlooking water. Nice Bar area. We enjoyed being right in the town. Close to all the action and delicious restaurants by the harbor. Staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful in every way. Our room had a little balcony with lovely view of a hill full of pine trees and partial ocean view. I loved the trees. So peaceful.
Review 47:The room itself, although comfortable, was small and looked out onto the street. The hallways were dark and had a bit of an anticeptic odour.
Review 48:The location of the hotel in Cassis was very good - close to the harbor area and restaurants. Great view from the pool deck.
Review 49:NO English TV stations. Room was a bit expensive for accommodations. Limited parking.
Review 50:Location was good for going to the port and beach. Bed was comfortable.
Review 51:Hallways were dim. Hard to find keys. Keys didn't work a couple of times. Automatic hall lights didn't seem to work. We got comp breakfast for these problems.
Review 52:Excellent staff, nice pool, location close to beach, good breakfast. Pretty good value for Cassis
Review 53:The bathroom was dirty and mouldy. The curtains were falling down. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were blue/black in parts and tasted "off".
Review 54:The parking was easy and the location was good with an easy walk to the port.
Review 55:Perfect stay
Review 56:We could not get a taxi to take us to the train station. Laura at the reception arranged for one of the staff to take us to the station in her own car. When we arrived at station she would not accept any payment even after much coercion
Review 57:Narrow corridors were a minor difficulty and smelt a little stale but rooms were fine.
Review 58:A very good hotel in a great position in an absolutely wonderful seaside town. Cassis is an absolute gem and is reached in two or three minutes. Great access to the calanques and a lovely little beach at the western edge of town.
Review 59:No elevator: 2 floors up with our suitcases Parking is a headache
Review 60:Great location The room was simple but nice Good breakfast Friendly staff Very nice terrace and pool
Review 61:Rooms - our room was too small for a 5 night stay. All rooms seem to look over the street and are in full sun in the afternoon, except the one junior suite which has a sea view and larger balcony. Parking - incredibly difficult in the street during peak times. Can pay €15 a day for a garage if there is one available. You could probably get a bigger room elsewhere for the same price if prepared to forego the pool and great location. The 'sea view' was not really worth looking at.
Review 62:Location - short walk to the marina and not a long steep walk uphill to get back like some places. Also right near the 'best beach'. Pool area - plent of sun lounges, lovely area to cool off after a trip to the beach. Balcony - ok for hanging out wet clothes and big enough to take the desk chair out but really only good for standing on or opening balcony door. Air conditioning worked well. Staff were very helpful and spoke English. Customer service excellent.
Review 63:Rooms only have net curtains so can get bright and wake you up very early.
Review 64:Hotel perfectly situated and the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Rooms clean and comfortable. Pool and terrace have lovely views and a big bonus as the beach can get packed.
Review 65:WiFi was unbearably slow, but it was free so can't really complain. Very close to the street so lots of road noise.
Review 66:The room was huge, the bed was huge, the bathroom was huge. The pool and deck overlooked the sea and was quite nice. Short walk to the port but away from the hustle and bustle.
Review 67:view of main road from small hotel room. the balcony is tiny, no room to sit on. very difficult to get into the safe as it is located in the corner of the wardrobe with a door that doesn't open properly. the hotel is a little tired, needs an update. hallway is very dark with vaccum cleaner cords and rubbish lying around - someone could easily trip over.
Review 68:view from the pool area was amazing! great location. offering free juice and apples is a nice idea. would stay there again as we loved cassis but it would need to be at better price.
Review 69:Room was a little small. Pool is fine, and there’s a well-stocked bar nearby, but strangely you can’t get to the bar without going out of the hotel first, and then you need to ask at reception to be buzzed back into the pool area. And no one offering to serve drinks by the pool either, and when we were there at about 6pm there was no one even serving at the bar, so no chance at all of an evening drink by the pool!
Review 70:Stylish hotel with a great view across Cassis, and only a few minutes walk down the hill to harbour with all the restaurants. Nice swimming pool.
Review 71:Would have been nice to have access to food during the day. Only breakfast is provided (although it was very good).
Review 72:Very comfortable hotel, wonderful views, helpful staff and location is very close to everything - harbour area and beach.
Review 73:both the room and the bathroom were quite small, with no view as such, though it didn't bother us as we did not spend much time inside. very poorly lit corridor leading to the guest rooms.
Review 74:excellent location - right next to the city centre and the old port, lovely swimming pool (especially handy when the sea is quite cold) and the view from it of the sea and the city, nice design of the room and the lobby, helpful staff, free parking for the duration of our stay which was great!
Review 75:- the interior is a bit old
