Reviews for Coeur de city Hôtel Rouen Cathédrale
Review 1:Breakfast was simple but adequate bearing in mind it was included in the price
Review 2:It was central and the room was good value. Very clean and everything worked well
Review 3:Breakfast room a bit bleak and breakfast a bit meagre but as it was included in the price it comes as a bonus. Room could have been a little cleaner but bed linen and towels good. Loose door handle to a rather poky bathroom
Review 4:We had a room with a great view from a terrace overlooking the Seine. The jazzy design worked well. Truly good value
Review 5:We new in advance that no car parking is available, our advice is head straight to the cathedral car park. Overnight (7pm - 11am) cost us €13. Not a problem.
Review 6:Convenient and good value for city centre. Adequate breakfast and pleasant staff.
Review 7:Many fittings in bedroom & bathroom were broken, including holder for shower head, bath plug and hairdryer. Mould around bath. Bedroom and corridors painted bright red!
Review 8:Excellent location near cathedral and old town.Free overnight parking nearby.
Review 9:No ground floor toilet, no tea/coffee making facilities in room, no storage for clothes, twin room too small, no cooked breakfast, no bar.
Review 10:Friendly staff, clean rooms, well serviced each day, good central location.
Review 11:Broken bathroom bin, wobbly toilet seat and a very small shower cubicle. Water stain on the bedroom ceiling. Maybe an old leak! All these can be fixed or repair.
Review 12:The address is misleading if driving as our gps kept sending us to the correct address but the hotel is actually on the opposite side of the main road, we eventually caught sight of the hotel name on the opposite side of the street above the shops it is in a sort of plaza.
Review 13:Good staff, helpful in regarding where to get free/or cheap parking and also as we had booked for twin beds and they hadn't arranged that they immediately changed our room.
Review 14:Although the hotel was nicely designed, it had seen better days. From the pictures we got great impression, but in real life it is already pretty used.
Review 15:Location is great, just a few steps from the city center, hotel does not have a private parking, but just around the corner is a public parking lot. A days parking was around 13 EUR. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Immediately we got advised about the spots that we "had to see" :) Also we got actual information on the events that were going on in the weekend.
Review 16:For the price this place was a little gem. The staff was most helpful. It was the only hotel we had stayed at in Normandy that included breakfast which was quite nice.
Review 17:Booked room for myself and my son and was expecting a twin or at least a double bed. Shared what was an oversized single.
Review 18:Bedroom was clean and tidy and view was good.
Review 19:Very, very difficult to find. No parking; parked on Sunday in nearby car park, old at reception that this was free until Monday morning, on Monday morning found that I had to pay 11€.
Review 20:Central location
Review 21:The location is very close to the main attractions in the city, you can walk everywhere. All the staff is very helpful. Especially Audeline at the reception is so kind. They all speak English, it was a big chance in France.
Review 22:No bad experience but quite warm at night so having a fan would be an improvement.
Review 23:The location, the friendly staff, the great breakfast, and that you could make yourself a hot drink anytime along with a croissant.
Review 24:It felt dirty, the cramped room was very noisy with traffic and an adjoining bar, the photos were misleading on facilities, the entrance was sub-standard and the lack of restaurant disappointing.
Review 25:We may have just been unlucky with the room allocated so that the only aspect we liked was the walking distance to the town centre and its magnificent buildings.
Review 26:Came down for breakfast at 9:30, all tables were full of dirty dishes, no place to sit and hardly any food or clean plates/cups left, machine coffee was awful Rooms facing the road could be a quite noisy. Saw a couple of bugs in the room, ceiling paint peeling badly and shower cabin water pipe is blocked. When lady at reception during the night was highly unhelpful and rude.
Review 27:Day time male receptionist was nice and helpful. Booked a cab for us a number of times and spoke good english,
Review 28:I did not think the plac eis clean. Perhaps because it is old.
Review 29:Locations is great. It is within walking distance to the center of the city. Easy to get out of the city.
Review 30:Parking in municipal car park - but very close to hotel. Could have used a more lightweight duvet
Review 31:excellent location; very friendly & helpful staff; good breakfast (included in our deal); bed very comfortable.
Review 32:Room was a bit grubby, ceiling flaking, 1.5 towels for two guests, one plastic cup. Just not up to scratch for the price charged. A lack of attention to detail all round.
Review 33:Location only.
Review 34:Would gladly recommend this hotel to everyone – clean rooms, comfortable beds, short walking distance to city center. Nice and helpful staff. Good breakfast – juice, yogurt, coffee, croissants, bread, butter, jam, cold cut (ham and cheese), fruits – all is needed to start a day!!! Tea and coffee are available all day long at the reception Thanks a lot to hotel’s management for the nice stay!
Review 35:Room was on the small side. Public Parking was very convenient but cost an additional 11E per day.
Review 36:Had a corner room with outside balcony. Breakfast was typical continental buffet. Very convenient to the Cathedral.
Review 37:Arrival bed was dirty, concierge changed sheets, walls were paper thin heard every movement in the hotel from ground to top floor. Breakfast very basic but free.
Review 38:Clean and good location
Review 41:hard bed, bathroom door didn't close properly, no English World News channel on tv, no tea or coffee making in room, no bedroom furniture other than a bed.
Review 42:free wifi
Review 43:The hotel was a perfect location for walking through the historic centre of Rouen, 5 minutes to the famous cathedral, 10 minutes to the stunning museum collection of paintings, with amazing Impressionist art and so much more.
Review 44:Except for Xavier the staff has very poor English and not very friendly. As for breakfast: the crossiants and bread were not fresh as they were cut and placed on the breakfast Buffet the night before.
Review 45:shabby and originally cheap fitout, leaking bath, SCARY interior decoration, trash coffee
Review 46:location, size of the rooms, real bathtub, fresh orange juice for breakfast
Review 47:New employee tried to collect a city tax of € 54,- when I was checking out. I already pre-paid the room, so I obviously denied. Had to call the manager to find out that it was actually € 1,65.
Review 48:Good service. Free coffee available during the day.
Review 49:When I booked and gave my card details, I assumed payment was taken from my account. I was concerned on leaving the Hotel to be asked for payment. Can you assure me that I have not had my card debited twice please?
Review 50:convenience for City centre
Review 51:The only negative I can think of is the fact the hotel is difficult to find and we struggled to spot it after driving round the town a fair few times!!
Review 52:The staff were genuinely lovely, polite people and made our stay all the more enjoyable - making the effort with our little boy. When we arrived, the cot was all set up next to our bed. The breakfast was spot on!
Review 53:When the hosts on the room above mine started taking a shower in the morning I had water dripping from the ceiling and given the marks on the wall this was not at all a new problem. The staff did react surprised, but given the amount of water that was raining down I am sure it was not at all the first time that happened. I was given chocolate and local apple wine as a "discount" - I guess I should have asked to avoid paying the room.
Review 54:The location was perfect, with nive view on the Seinne. I was lucky and found a parking spot right in from of the hotel.
Review 55:Breakfast coffee watered down and weak. Sometimes kettle in lobby available to make own drinks and at other times mysteriously spirited away. Room 36 very small and bathroom even smaller - risk of falling out of tiny shower cubicle.
Review 56:Good location friendly helpful staff
Review 57:Not a bad experience - but PLEASE can you go out and get some fresh bread for breakfast ( ours is always a bit old ) and make better coffee ( it is awful !! )
Review 58:Rooms 52 and 62 are good ( 62 has a balcony ). Quiet, central, friendly etc etc Room 35 is too small !
Review 59:The walls were a bit thin but nothing that would keep you awake at night.
Review 60:The rooms are spacious and the hotels looks like it has recently been renovated throughout. The staff were always friendly and the breakfast is very good (mini croissants, pain au chocolates, baguettes; cereals; yoghurts; fresh orange juice and good coffee!).
Review 61:The hotel is really dirty. The cups for the breakfast (very modest breakfast) were really dirty. The towels for the shower were full of stains. I had to ask to change them a couple of times, and every time there were staines: in one of them it seemed someone had stepped with dirty shoes. This was really not comfortable.
Review 62:The position of the hotel is amazing, few meters far from the cathedral, a nice cinema, restaurants etc..
Review 63:This time we had room 35 - a very small room. Basically a single room with a double bed ( but a nice balcony ). Please hotel people put it back to single !! Coffee bad too.
Review 64:Location, friendly staff, view of river, I have been there before and Liked 52 and 53.
Review 65:A lot of things. Main thing is--they took money from credit card once we booked the rooms. We booked for£93 for two night, than after we book, it turn up in euro.then when they take money from credit card changed to pound again from my UK bank. So eventraly we paid £104 for two nights.only that made £11 difference. We were preparing to pay cash in euro. Had no idea why we couldn't have a choice.
Review 66:Near to the center
Review 67:The shower you had to run around to get wet and the toilet seat was broken and although I reported it three times it remained broken. The maid must have had a bad day as she forgot to clean in the bathroom, leave us towels or replenish tissues etc: [on one day only] other than that our stay was fine bearing in mind it was not expensive.
Review 68:The location of this Hotel could not be better given the price paid. Public car parking was easy and conveiniant at a cost of 13 euros per 24hr period, just behind the hotel. The hotel was warm and the continental breakfast was very good. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well [assisted by fine food and wine from restaurant Gille only metres away, thank Heaven ]
Review 69:The lift was tiny, suitable for 1 person and their bags so might be a struggle for a wheelchair user
Review 70:Good value, excellent breakfast, drink and pastries in reception on arrival
Review 71:The Hotel tries to be modern but is actually a bit tired. It needs a freaking sign! We drove to Rouen and parked in random place. Went for a quick walk and come back to car to drive to hotel which was in front of us :-). It needs a banner and some neons! The room was really hot. I've had a laser thermometer (freak) and the temp was 27.9 Celsius!
Review 72:We have stopped there for one night only. There is no car park for guests however there is a big public car park to the back (free Sunday till 9 am Monday). It looks unsecure but it is just the the feeling. The staff spoken good English which is important from my perspective. Walking distance everywhere. On a doorstep of the Cathedral and just by the river. Basic but free breakfast.
Review 73:Lack of shelving.
Review 74:Hotel was comfortable and pleasant. It was centrally located in Rouen, with shops and restaurants nearby. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Price was very reasonable with breakfast included. Would recommend.
Review 75:Directions to hotel need to be clearer. Very small, cramped lift. Breakfast slightly chaotic, later arrivals had no fresh bread. Very noisy students(?) outside at night - though that's not the hotel's fault.
Review 76:Location - once we'd found it! Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Cost of breakfast included in room price - good value for money.
Review 77:Perfect location - close to the Rouen Cathedral, old town, main shopping street. Parking is very close. Wonderful breakfast and staff. Good price for the service, breakfast and quality.
Review 78:nothing.
Review 79:handy for city centre cathedral and restaurants car park just round back of hotel.all staff on reception we found helpful .hotel was very good value with free continental breakfast.
Review 80:Bathroom door didn't close. Hotel personnel didn't offer any solution. Party on room close to mine all night long, couldn't sleep. Not a 3-star hotel of Spanish standards, it would rather be a 2* at the most.
Review 81:Good Location
Review 82:Lift holds two people
Review 83:Easy walk from station ,behind highland bar , two minutes from cathedral and shops a short walk to river and delirium bar ,under the clock
Review 84:Lack of facilities for disabled persons in particular parking immediately outside the hotel
Review 85:Views of the seine and close to major areas of interest and local car park
Review 86:Breakfast was not satisfying, but at least they had a juicer were you could have some fresh orange juice
Review 87:It's close to the city center and can enjoy the city on feet. The hotel itself is good value for money even though the croissants were too long in the oven to be able to call it breakfast..
Review 88:Nothing really
Review 89:Helpful Staff, nice clean room. Great Location. Rouen is a lovely place and the hotel has a perfect location to walk from. Would stay again.
Review 90:No information given on local parking other than the hotel doesn't have any. The room was on the 5th floor and was very hot which meant the window had to be wide open. Unfortunately, there was a pub right next door and it was extremely noisy until about 4am when the traffic noise started. Our shower head was broken which meant we had to use the bath which was very small and not very comfortable. To be fair, if I had noticed the shower head issue before bedtime, I would have asked for another room. Tea and coffee making facilities in the front hall - tricky to carry two hot disposable cups and manage the lift up to the 5th floor. Overall, I'd say this is more suited to young people on a budget.
Review 91:Central location - cathedral and all restaurants etc. a very short walk away. The view from our bedroom window of the Seine. Breakfast was fair - a buffet with the usual continental options and was plentiful
Review 92:Really small rooms, tiny shower, no central heating or any way to turn off the heating so it was boiling in the rooms, smallest lift in the planet so had to walk up/down four flights of stairs, staff gave us erroneous information on parking
Review 93:The location
Review 94:I'm a fussy sleeper and so didn't rate the bed but the bride was fine with it.
Review 95:Staff were lovely and spoke good English. Brekky was nice with good choices.
Review 96:construction in front of the hotel - loud and noisy; main street in front of the room very noisy breakfast room not cosy bathroom was not even tiny, but a JOKE! bathroom not clean share of balkony with other rooms, no barriers inbetween
Review 97:location to the catherdal was okay staff was friendly
Review 98:No electricity in the room the 1st night so I had to accommodate 4 of us in 1 bed, and on the second evening a elderly stranger walked into our room using a duplicate card as the room was double booked. Late evening Reception mistake! Hotel did apologise for the inconvenience still awaiting the refund of the room. Tables never ready a breakfast and continental menu very poor thee I is 3 cereals, ham, croissants and bread, coffee always warm never hot, True honestly they seemed short staffed.
Review 99:The location was just quick walk into the town. The cathedral has a light show late at night where they use a projector to beam light onto the front of the cathedral which is amazing to see. The daytime reception staff were very helpful which made up for the night receptionist being so incompetent.
Review 100:Second stay a bit noisy as near lift and footwell so poor night's sleep!
Review 101:Manager was excellent, very helpful offering ideas of where to eat and what to see. This made a great stopover and we loved Rouen, plus would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel.
Review 102:5th Floor room which was extremely small and hot!! Shower was a tight fit!!
Review 103:Easy access on foot to bars and restaurants. Minutes from the main Cathedral
Review 104:- Thin walls. Could hear every word from your neighbour - Great view on the Seine, but on a big, noisy street - It was warm and because the street was very noisy, it wasn't an option opening the window, not even in the middle of the night - Bedroom was a bit tight, especially in comparison to the bathroom. (They had about the same size)
Review 105:- Location - Friendly staff, could speak English - Parking, paid, in the street behind the hotel) - Great price / quality. - Big bathroom, with bath - Fine for 1 night (When you book, ask if you can get a room at the back of the hotel. Not a great view, but more quit)
Review 106:Noisy location, but the weather was very hot, so had to keep window open all night. Not very good coffee at breakfast.
Review 107:Bed very comfortable Clean Excellent value for money. Superb location.
Review 108:Location was right on the main road. Very hot room, no air conn/fans, window could not be opened because of noise. Our room card did not work so we had to get the staff to open our door every time, it was not fixed. The hotel seemed a little tired in places.
Review 109:Location was perfect for city centre. Breakfast was very good and fresh. Staff were very polite and friendly. Parking for the motorbike was right outside. Cleanliness of the room. Reasonable price.
Review 110:The entrance is not easy to find, but that's mainly because of city construction all around.
Review 111:The front desk clerk was very helpful with advice about parking, places to eat, and where to get groceries. She stored our medications in the fridge and seemed to have a good memory for each guest, even though we were there a very short time.
Review 112:The room we were initially offered was a room designed for wheelchair users. Not a major issue but it was gloomy and it did smell unpleasant too. This was rectified when we asked to be moved but I was concerned that we were parked out of the way when we had booked some weeks in advance. If either of us had been disabled we would have found this room very depressing
Review 113:This hotel was in a good central location, close to bars, restaurants and the SNCF station from where we travelled to Bayeux for the day. The room was very small but it was good value for the price
Review 114:Good hotel in the right position to visit the city. Parking nearby not cheap. Good wifi in the room and average breakfast included in the price. Efficient reception.
Review 115:First: no parking on site. The hotel entrance itself is hidden from view, and we required three drives past it to find it. Exacerbating this is the complete absence of parking, save for a public lot on the street below -- with no lift access to the hotel doors seven meters above you. Second: No ventilation whatsoever. The rooms are very small and cramped, and when we arrived in Rouen, in the midst of a heat wave, there was no air conditioning. The only recourse was to open the windows facing the boulevard wide open all night, which created another problem. Third: Noisy! The hotel itself isn't loud, but the total lack of ventilation and the need to keep the front windows open left us dealing with all the noise of the city, including the drunken chanting of the last-call crowd leaving the bars and the work crews across the street jackhammering the sidewalk from 0630 onward. Four: Overcrowded and overtaxed infrastructure: As noted, the rooms are very small. The lift is too -- its an old-school, double-door lift with barely room for two people, let alone with luggage. I came downstairs for breakfast at 0730 and couldn't get a seat. When I returned at 0830, I still couldn't get a seat for service, and all the coffee mugs were used anyway. In the end we checked out a day early, rather than stay here. It may be better at other times, but all in all we had a dismal experience in what essentially is a budget hotel akin to a Motel6 in the states.
Review 116:I am hard pressed to find anything to like about this hotel.
Review 117:The receptionist wanted to charge us an additional €20 for changing the dates of the trip through booking.com which was never mentioned by the system. After a couple of arguments the issue was settled and we paid just the sum indicated by booking.com.
Review 118:We loved the location of the hotel - just within a minute's walk to the breathtaking cathedral of the city and the other churches and sights. There are lots of restaurants outside too, but be warned that they are closed between 2 and 7 p.m. The room was cleam and spacious and the wifi was ok. Breakfasts were basic but enough to survive until lunch.
Review 119:No air conditioning and rooms oppressively hot in summer. Couldn't have stood a second night. Can't open windows as too noisy. Fine at price when in cool weather I imagine. Wifi did not reach rooms as promised
Review 120:Location
Review 121:Rooms are stuffy, no air-con so when you open the windows, it's noisy as it's near to the main boulevard
Review 122:Location, near to the centre, easy to walk to all places. Good value for money. Staff very helpful.
Review 123:If you need reliable wifi services, this is not the place for you. And telling you that there is wifi in reception that can be used at 11pm is not at all helpful
Review 124:Morning staff
Review 125:because of the location, it was really noisy with the windows open
Review 126:the room was so nice with a big bathtun and very cozy bed, clean with a beautiful view over la seine.
Review 127:no one speak english very poor breakfast and rooms very poor
Review 128:Very small shower
Review 129:short walk distance to town a lots car parks
Review 130:handy for town
Review 131:The rooms are clean and comfy but very tired. Need a make over.
Review 132:Very central, good breakfast value for money.
Review 133:NEAR TO CENTRE AND ROUND THE CORNER FROM SHOPS AND THE CATHEDRAL.
Review 134:Walls extremely thin. The soring of person next door woke me up in the middle of the night. Matres was horrible
Review 135:It was central in the town
Review 136:small room but big bathroom??
Review 137:Good for lovers, staff very nice Good Breakfast, near F1 bus stop
Review 138:Small bedroom, basic accommodation, very old furniture
Review 139:Very good location, not far from the city centre
