Reviews for Hôtel De Bale
Review 1:bathroom lights was on a timer and lights kept going off at inappropriate moments. room was a little seedy.
Review 2:very close to railway station and city centre. staff were very pleasant and helpful. room was spacious.
Review 3:Depressing establishment with (1960s? 1970s?) decor once beyond the entrance. Room very small, created by dividing a bigger one in two (or three?) and jerryrigging an equally tiny bathroom. Paper-thin walls. Mattress uncomfortable, wifi was initially good, but switched off unexpectedly. Stay here if there are really no other choices.
Review 4:Very friendly staff.
Review 5:En suite room not available as booked. Room 19 just has a shower and sink no toilet. Carpet and furniture was tatty. The shower was tiny and shower doors didn't shut. I was given a discount but I have now cancelled a future stay. Breakfast is also very poor although mine was free due to the poor quality of my room.
Review 6:Lady at front desk tried to be helpful
Review 7:Nothing that I can fault the hotel with, it was quite hot with no air conditioning but that is normal.
Review 8:The person at the desk was very friendly and helpful, giving directions for places to walk the dogs and dinner. The following morning when I was checking out earlier than breakfast was served, the staff set me up with coffee and take away breakfast so I could continue my journey.
Review 9:Room was very tired, chipped furniture, torn upholstery. Smelt stuffy and not aired. Bathroom was a cupboard and the shower cubical so small I didn't bother.
Review 10:Staff were lovely, friendly and extremely helpful.
Review 11:The male staff member standing behind the hotel outside who shooshed my 55 year old mother (who was only chatting with my father). €8 for breakfast that did not include any meat or eggs or cheese without requesting it.
Review 12:The place is clean, though not modern or updated at all. Overall the staff is nice. At breakfast (which is bread, jam, butter, coffee, and orange juice) I asked the staff if they had any cheese or sliced meat. They did have some cheese that they gave us.
Review 13:We cannot fault the friendliness and help we received during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble in fact the owner went really out of his way to help us deal with an emergency which occurred during our stay. What could have been a disaster became a heart warming experience of the good ness of this person and his staff.
Review 14:Shower very small, door hard to work; room faced the street, whoch was noisy until about 11:00 p.m (traffic). Room was a bit small, but o.k.
Review 15:Very friendly and helpful staff, convenience, felt very safe and comfortable. Nearby restaurants, and a 10 minute walk to most of the central old town
Review 16:Had a bit of stress to get my bike out early in the morning, there was no one around to open doors, but probably was just a coincidence. I mean, you too go to the toilet sometimes.
Review 17:The room was ok, not perfect, but the price was set accordingly, so there is nothing to complain
Review 18:the walls are very thin, we could hear everything our neighbors were doing, All night long! The beds were not comfortable.
Review 19:the staff was very helpful! The rooms were clean and a good size!
Review 20:Poor soundproofing everywhere, heard the reception from downstairs despite high ceilings, as well as the neighbours all around. Someone's opening and closing their door in the night sounded like a thunderstorm. Using the toilet and shower in the room was very awkward regarding this issue.
Review 21:Central excellent location, easy to find and easy to reach, 5 min walk from the Railway station and 3 min from the place of Reunion. Great welcome by a very pleasant staff, nicely decorated breakfast-room, good spread of butter, jams, nutella, croissant, bread, buns for a breakfast. Wi-fi worked fine throughout my stay. The bed was soft and comfy.
Review 22:There was no elevator so it could be a problem if you carry heavy luggage. The hotel is a little bit old and the room rather small.
Review 23:The location, staff very polite and helpful, the employee helped us to carry the luggage upstairs to our room. The Wi Fi worked fine.
Review 24:poor breakfast for the cost, you would be better off buying it outside
Review 25:Rooms were clean (but small), some can be noisy at night if overlooking the road
Review 26:A liked this hotel very much! Staff was very friendly, both at reception and at breakfast. I got a cosy room at the top floor, and breakfast was tasty. Perfect position right in the centre of town, and also close to the railway station. I will absolutely stay here again the next time I am visiting Mulhouse!
Review 27:No cable internet. WiFi only worked for 2 hours. Requests to fix were ignored with lame excuses provided. Staff speak very poor or no English.

Review 71:Great location. Friendly staff.
Review 72:the bread and croissant ,were perhaps a day old ,the room was very small, but i did not have to pay too much so it's not a complaint but it could be shown on the web page
Review 73:The atmosphere, friendliness of the staff. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The hotel also did my laundry at a very good price. As the banks were closed they allowed me to pay in Swiss francs
Review 74:Although my room was described as an "economic single room" I had expectations of a reasonable stay as I've coped with budget rooms many times in the past. However my experience was not helped by a "misunderstanding" on check-in regarding the price of breakfast, and then finding a room with a couple of basic issues. The TV could only be viewed from the bed, as it was a screen with an extremely narrow viewing angle. The single available socket was part of the light switch, meaning that any item to be charged needed to "dangle". I couldn't get the light working in the bathroom - but maybe I failed an aptitude test there. Perhaps the most memorable feature was the breakfast. I don't think I'd ever had a poor croissant in France before - until now. It certainly wasn't worth the price I thought I was paying - let alone what I was charged!
Review 75:The wi-if worked well. The bed was comfortable.
Review 76:shower cabin
Review 77:less than 10 min walk from railway station and near old city center; effective room heating; lovely vintage design and furniture of breakfast room
Review 78:Breakfast seemed expensive at about EUR8 so ate elsewhere.
Review 79:1. Location is excellent, 10 mins walk from train station and 3 mins walk to central square. 2. Staff very friendly and helpful - I arrived by bike and they offered a secure place to store it. 3. Close to internet cafe (next door) and several bakeries and good restaurants (all within a few minutes walk) 4. Value for money
Review 80:First room stank of fags so had to move, in the second room brown water appeared in the shower when I flushed the loo so had to change room again. No apology from staff for this. Doors to the shower in the third room didn't close properly makjng showering awkward. Thin walls so was woken up in the morning and kept awake at night. Decor of rooms is dated and depressing. Curious and unpleasant smell on the stairways and coridors. often front desk was left unattended meaning that anyone could walk in and take a key to one of the rooms of the hook. On leaving the staff tried to overcharge me. Only virtue is that it was cheap but I shall never stay there again.
Review 81:The bed was comfortable and it was cheap.
Review 82:Messy pipe work in progress (?) under the sink
Review 83:Clean, well-located with re. to both the city and the train station, relatively calm (neighbours permitting of course), value for money about 1000times that of L#nd*n's hotels
Review 84:Careful there is no car park for the hotel. The smell of smoke is not my best souvenir and the bed was close to retirement ...
Review 85:Loved the location Loved the staff: very helpful and willing to make the best of your stay. Despite the way things looks old the place was tidy.
Review 86:My second floor room had no decoration (e.g.pictures) and painted in a drab orange! There is no lift.
Review 87:Quietly situated hotel, less than 10mins. walk from the station and very close to the old, historic centre. My room was clean and functional and the double bed was very comfortable. It was serviced daily to a good standard. Breakfast is waitress served. I'd stay there again!
Review 88:2 of 3 staff wasn't speaking nothing apart of french , one of themost difficult check in I ever had , on the top of everything theycharge me extra for separate beds and the building is not goodisolated I had free porn sound in 4 am from the next room...thereforenot good sleep , the bathroom was big but there wasnt nothing toattach the shower
Review 89:The location was perfect and one of the staff ( lady around 45) waspolite, helpful and speaking english
Review 90:Wifi didn't work(wrong password given?).Only hand towels in room with shower. Shower quite poor flow.
Review 91:reasonably central, near train & Tram probably ok for price
Review 92:Rooms are very small and simple and you get the feeling you are staying in more of a hostel than a hotel.
Review 93:The location is in the middle of the city center - walking distance from all the sights worth seeing.
Review 94:noise of other guests at night kept me awake at times; baby screaming because it was woken by noise made by its parents and their guests in the room. guest in next room vomiting most of one night the walls are thin.
Review 95:helpful staff, they could be better informed about events and have access to opening times of museums location was good
Review 96:WiFi does not work in the rooms - I had to sit in the staircase close to the reception with my laptop to get a signal. Room smelled of tobacco and sheets could need a bleach (or new ones) - some makeup stains etc. Also pay attention to parking small print text - it's free only during nighttime outside the building (and very little space left if you arrive late), at 9 am you have to start paying for it.
Review 97:Location is good, main shopping street is very close. For a one night stop it's fine, but wouldn't want to stay there more than one night myself. The owners were friendly and spoke English, younger generation staff not very polite/helpful (asked one why internet isn't working and she ran away).
Review 98:1) I booked room for 1 person. At reception I was told that they have left only room for 3 persons and certainly for much higher price. I asked how this can be possible if I made reservation in advance, woman at reception slyly looking at me said that this was the room that I had reserved. Luckily I printed confirmation before journey. After I showed her this paper, she cried "Oh, yes, pardon, here is your key".2) A sign at reception says - "We speak english", in fact they do not (at leas woman that I spoke to). 3) There were hair on the pillow and under the blanket left from the previous guest. 4) Light in bathroom is turned on automatically in the bathroom for several minutes. When you take the shower it turns off and does not turn on again. 5) All places at parking were occupided, had to look for another.
Review 99:Light not working in communal shower; invited to use staff shower inbasement instead.
Review 100:Convenient location for city and railway station, tram stop nearby; roomcomfortable and clean with toilet and sink, although small. Staff werecourteous and helpfully carried my luggage upstairs.
Review 101:The problem was the parking for the car. The route to the hotel was very complicated and difficult. It was for this reason that I cancelled one of my night's reservations and found another hotel.
Review 102:Very friendly. Central. Good price value.
Review 103:Bad internet connection. There was not refrigerator.
Review 104:Central location. Available perking nearby. Polite and helpful staff. Spacious rooms.

Review 116:a very nice, neat little hotel right in the city centre, excellent relation of quality to price
Review 117:Poor sound insulation. Concertinering bathroom door noisy and awkward.
Review 118:Central location, good value breakfast.
Review 119:Room decor a bit faded and basic but for the class of hotel I can't complain.
Review 120:Friendly staff, value for money, reasonable buffet breakfast
Review 121:aged interior, no breakfast
Review 122:middle of the town
Review 123:Guy on reception hard to understand english, but helpful.
Review 124:Location. Night parking in front of hotel, but you should wait for free place early.
