Reviews for Hotel Victoria

Review 1:Ban on any food in the room. Hence, no fridge or tea-making facilities in the room. That's why it's so clean and bed sheets are perfect. But it makes this hotel not suitable for families with kids. My only complaint is that this policy should be stated clear in the house rules on the web-site of the hotel and on all other booking sites (no mention of a fridge or tea-making facilities in the description of rooms is not enough). It should not come as an unpleasant surprise. I would have been very disappointed if I came with a kid.

Review 2:Very clean and tidy. Nice design. Pleasant yard view from the higher floor. Good quality products for breakfast.

Review 3:Lots of steps to take luggage up and it wasn't easy to use the front office especially in the rain as it was in a different building to our room.

Review 4:Conveniently situated, clean and comfortable.

Review 5:The shower was a little small

Review 6:Friendly staff, English spoken. Nice bedding and the room was set up nicely. Off street parking available. Only a short walk to the hub of the town.

Review 7:We were in an annexe on the 2nd and 3rd floors with no lift and no air conditioning. Very worn stair carpets made us wonder what the rooms would be like. There were signs everywhere forbidding food and drink in the bedrooms but no tea/coffee making facilities or mini bar. Breakfast was ok but 12 euros seemed a lot. Drinks available but no bar as such and chairs seemed to be made for very small people, not someone over 6 feet tall so very uncomfortable!

Review 8:Location, although it was further to walk into the town centre than we expected, secure parking, large room, helpful staff and good recommendation on where to eat.

Review 9:Having to pay extra to use the very large, almost empty hotel car park when you're paying good money for quite basic accommodation was a bit cheeky - I wouldn't use it again - the street is perfectly safe. We had interconnecting rooms - a twin and a double - bizarrely the children's twin room was huge but the double for 2 adults sharing was tiny! Also rooms got very hot at night and only 1 fan provided.

Review 10:Great location, lovely quaint traditionally French hotel, quirky and comfortable rooms with lovely features.

Review 11:The bedroom floor had fluff balls, and the lament wooden floor had not seen a mop in a long while. The shower tiles needed a good scrub, overall the bedroom was very scruffy.

Review 12:Good location for visiting the palace and gardens, secure parking.

Review 13:Room done a bit on the cheap side, cardboard bedside tables etc..No lift. Didn't have breakfast as we found it too expensive.

Review 14:Good location in walking distance of castle and restaurants. Free parking outside hotel. Spacious room and quiet location.

Review 15:Lighting poor in room No fridge Floor tiling on ground floor some broken Breakfast expensive. Next morning we went to salon de the which was much better value

Review 16:Close to chateau Close to eating options

Review 17:Some rooms in separate building so to have breakfast have to walk outside; OK in summer. Long way to drive around to car park after check-in.

Review 18:Quiet location. Very nice garden. Walking distance to city center.

Review 19:The reception is in a small 3 star Hotel, but after check in the clientis kindly redirected to 2 star hotel with the same name 50 meters downthe road. And it is a bad 2 star Hotel! Tiny room, old single-glasswindow, ancient heaters. I would not stay there for any price.

Review 20:Close to insead.

Review 21:Bed was concave but still decently comfortable.

Review 22:Good location a few minutes walking distance from the center of town and INSEAD. Staff was helpful and called ahead to ensure restaurants were open. Good bedding and linens. Overall clean but there was some flaking paint and mold in the bathroom.

Review 23:No restaurant on site, although you can order a fixed menu to be sent in which you can eat in the breakfast room (no food allowed in the rooms).

Review 24:The room and the bed were both very large. The decor is nice, with old wood floors. The bathroom was clean, with decent toiletries supplied. The public areas of the hotel are cozy and charming.

Review 25:The rooms were sparse, and quite noisy at night especially on the ground floor. Traffic noise in front till late despite windows being shut. While some staff are quite nice and helpful, it is not consistent throughout.

Review 26:Good location, walking distance to the Palace and pedestrain streets. Near to many food outlets and cafe. Ample parking and clean rooms.

Review 27:The hotel is in two buildings, and we were in the adjoining building (just 1 minute from the main building) and in inclement weather would prove inconvenient.

Review 28:Conveniently situated near the palace of Fontainebleau - the hotel was clean, comfortable, with generous sized rooms. The breakfast was full of choice and plentiful. The staff are friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English.

Review 29:The hotel has two entrances so you have to go out in the street if you go to reception. Ask them to give you a room in the central building. At the second building there is no elevator so you have to carry your bag, if it is heavy you have a slight problem. One of the nights I had to wait 20 min in the street because there was noone at the reception, the central door was locked and the reception guy dissappearead. When i complained he said that he was away for inspection!! They did not leave not even a sign on the door. So be aware if you return late. In general is an average hotel that does not worth the money spent.

Review 30:The location is 5 minutes walk from the chateau of Fontainebleau and very close to INSEAD campus. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet.

Review 31:The bed was so firm I thought at first it might actually be made of straw. If you prefer a firm bed this will be paradise - if you don't, beware. Additionally, it's a 10 minute walk to the chateau and most restaurants, a bit farther out than other hotels in town. The street is very quiet at night and I wouldn't feel safe walking back from dinner alone given the recent crime spike this town has experienced.

Review 32:This was one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever seen. The room was recently redecorated and the bathrooms was modern and well-appointed. I especially liked the hardwood floors throughout. Staff were friendly. There's private parking in the back and an enormous walled-in back yard that was a nice surprise.

Review 33:We needed a taxi to take us there from a town nearby, and they were unable to help us find a ride.

Review 34:- Large garden with a lovely terrace - Free bicycles - We forgot a small item, and they immediately sent us an email, informing us, and kept it until we came a few days later

Review 35:The additional charge for the parking within the hotel backyard.

Review 36:The beautiful style of the hotel, the excellent quality of bed matrix and big garden and the piano in the ground floor. In addition, it is excellent proximity to a nice selection of restaurants in town center.

Review 37:noise carries through floors and walls (old building with wooden floors), a bit of traffic on street side at "rush" hour. All ok but I was happy to have my earplugs. Wifi quite unreliable in rooms.

Review 38:Personable staff, nice garden, brand new bathrooms, comfy beds, well-priced laundry service, bikes. Hotel has plenty of character.

Review 39:Sign saying: Food and drinks forbidden in rooms. Hence, no tea & coffee making facilities.

Review 40:Comfy room. Parking available, but extra charge.

Review 41:Pleasant room, friendly staff.

Review 42:breakfast

Review 43:Staff were frindely and helpful

Review 44:Carpet in annex seemed very tired in contrast to the rest of the facilities

Review 45:Large room with modern design. Good shower. Large, comfortable bed

Review 46:No tea or coffee facilities in the room

Review 47:Good honest hotel

Review 48:Location, breakfast

Review 49:Food in room is strickley forbidden. Even fruit or bread.

Review 50:Very peaceful and quiet.

Review 51:Nothing bad to report.

Review 52:Hotel has been extended and is under renovation ,maintaining its original style.

Review 53:Wifi did not work in the room.

Review 54:Staff were very helpful and go out of thier way to make you comfortable

Review 55:As good as hotyels twice the price in all respects

Review 56:No lift.noisy road

Review 57:Very comfortable bed

Review 58:The room we had was noisy at night. Could hear people in reception area.

Review 59:Loved the gardens and the room presentation was good.

Review 60:Noisy in ground floor room, from lounge and street

Review 61:Clean, friendly owner managers. Plenty of hot water

Review 62:Great and friendly family hotel. Very nice room that is basic but very clean. Great value for money.

Review 63:Bicycle rentals were in very poor condition. Breakfast was overpriced.

Review 64:Quiet back room, good location to visit Chateau.

Review 65:No elevator, high two storey, narrow stair climb.

Review 66:Excellent service Very polite and helpful people Reasonable price

Review 67:old furniture, broken here and there. Needs new floor badly, rotten wooden cover everywhere!

Review 68:Location/cleanliness

Review 69:no fridge, no proper bar / restaurant, and the fantastic garden, underused.

Review 70:great rooms and grounds with good location

Review 71:Really appreciated the use of the bikes. Location was perfect.

Review 72:No protection agains musquitos. We didn't like yor shampoo.

Review 73:The breakfast and the garden

Review 74:As in pretty well every other *** hotel at which we stayed in June 2014, hi-fi is really really only available in public rooms.

Review 75:All the things we have marked excellent - also an imaginative breakfast and its rock'n'roll presentation.

Review 76:Managed to find freeparking on the street as 8 euros a night on their premises is exorbitant. Is it any wonder that the car park at the rear was empty! Did not appreciate one of the children trying our door when trying to rest.

Review 77:Glad to have received an up-grade as felt that it was overpriced. Manager was very helpful.

Review 78:Rooms in 112 are old-fashioned and not worthy of three stars. Wifididn't work in 112 - the password didn't allows us to use it -so we had to go to the other building. With 8 euro for parking and 12euro pp for breakfast this is not a good deal

Review 79:Nice breakfast-room - beautiful garden - friendly check-in

Review 80:Parking on site . Nice outside areas . Attention to detail .pleasant staff.

Review 81:Hotel staff was inattentive, reception was closed during the night, internet was patchy.

Review 82:rien

Review 83:la déco

Review 84:The personal attention and courtesy from the owners was outstanding. My very best staying at Fontainebleau.
