Reviews for La Couleuvrine
Review 1:We had a good experience but there were a lot of stairs to navigate with a heavy suitcase.
Review 2:Location was perfect, staff friendly and room clean and comfortable.
Review 3:We requested a ground floor room but were given a top floor/attic room - the room which was comfortable and quaint but had a lot of stairs to negotiate for someone older; our request was not acknowledged by staff at the hotel even to explain why they could not give us a lower level room - I have a leg injury which made climbing the stairs difficult and getting the bags up and down was hard work for my husband;
Review 4:Close Location near centre of medieval town Very good restaurant On site Close to town services like laundromat Tabac and postage etc Street parking possible
Review 5:Our room was very small. The bed actually got in the way of closing our door to the room.
Review 6:The location to the town center was excellent. The old building is charming.
Review 7:Great welcome and a good sized room over the entrance. A little on the noisy side till 10pm as the restaurant guests left but nothing to bad. Good hot shower with pressure and good breakfast selection.
Review 8:Loved the location and the setting. Wonderful, helpful staff. Great dining at hotel. Small store across street has postcards and postage with mailbox out front. Said no parking available but free parking just a short walk away was great.
Review 9:Our room (standard double) really was small. Awkwardly small - not enough room to even put our suitcases on the floor! Pay more to upgrade your room; our friends stayed in a superior double, which was much better. Gentleman on reception was rude and unwelcoming. Perhaps he chose the wrong career.
Review 10:Sarlat is small, so it's not far to travel to the centre. 2 minute walk from this hotel. Our friends tell me the breakfast was good! Staff in the restaurant very friendly.
Review 11:Internet did not work in our room but did work in the reception area. We were there in is July and it was 90+ so air would have been nice but it cooled off in the evenings. Being on the ground floor we could not leave windows open
Review 12:The building exterior is charming and the hotel was centrally located The room was for 4 as we were traveling as a family and it was spacious Front desk was helpful with making reservations and giving directions
Review 13:There is no air conditioning. I was there on a very hot day/night so if I hadn't been in a room with a terrace I would have found it stifling.
Review 14:The location; the building; the terrace outside my room which I could step out onto; the restaurant. The restaurant staff were very sweet.
Review 15:Unfriendly staff particularly the lady who checked us in, she didn't bother to give us an entry code for access to the hotel after 10.30, we were told about this by other guests. Just told us our room number, no welcome, not even a smile. No gluten free breakfast available, and no attempt to rectify this even though this was requested at the time of booking. Rooms extremely small, dark and oppressive.
Review 16:Pretty looking hotel
Review 17:Worn out towels, dirty carpet in room, poor lighting, absolutely not suitable for tourists! Need major Reno, especially the room where we stayed.
Review 18:Central location.
Review 19:Not a thing.
Review 20:We had just walked 17 miles on the GR, and the staff was gracious and welcoming even though we were hot, sweaty and tired. The facilities and breakfast were wonderful and they get us have a late nightcap on the terraces.
Review 21:No on site parking, you have to be a mountaineer to get to the free carpark ,do not book a room above 10 if you do you will be carrying your cases up and down winding stairs
Review 22:Great location for the old town
Review 23:The staff seemed a little bothered that we were of English-speaking background (even though we would have been happy to have spoken in French to them)
Review 24:The location of this hotel was excellent.
Review 25:The bathroom is very cramped and cluttered. A different layout and removal of the bidet and shifting of the towel rail would make for a comfortable use of the facilities.
Review 26:Hotel was in refurbishment during our stay. Staff were a bit robotic - with not even a word of apologies to make up for the noise / lift and stairs disruption.
Review 27:On arrival our booking was changed. Instead of our confortable room booked and prepaid, the staff offered us a smaller room with no bath inside the room. no more options.
Review 28:nothing. Poor breakfast, no wifi even in the restaurant, ....
Review 29:Common parts a bit tired - but it is not after all where you spend much to e
Review 30:Excellent location with sunny terrace. Owner charming and extremely helpful. Good value.
Review 31:Under refurbishment but not advised when booking. No restaurant only breakfast area. Winter is not a time to need to find somewhere to eat in the evening on your Birthday in France. Very poor lighting throughout.
Review 32:Not enough lighting in the room Top floor room was hot at night (no A/C) Restaurant food didn't impress
Review 33:The atmosphere The location The Price The Breakfast
Review 34:If you are driving here, parking is a pain generally in Sarlat and this place has no on site parking, you will have to find parking in the street and it will be metered and expensive. Didnt cause us too many worries but I could imagine times when you may have to park a fair distance away.
Review 35:This place has tons of character, set in a medieval building with all the quirkiness that comes with it. Very comfortable, clean rooms and a brilliant location right in the heart of all the great things about Sarlat.
Review 36:Wifi connection was weak and unstable. The elevator doesn't go to all the floors and the staircases get maze-like, so it was difficult with large luggage, but it's to be expected with the age of the building. Pack light and enjoy the charm.
Review 37:Gorgeous historical building, close to free parking lot and town center, friendly English speaking staff, the hotel restaurant was delicious. Next time I'll pay a little extra for a chambre supérieure because they were more spacious and elaborately decorated. 24 hour laundry right across the street.
Review 38:I was extremely disappointed with my stay here that I left early and refused to have breakfast that morning. We were given a dingy backroom that was lead up through a very narrow stairway. The curtain rod was broken so there were no curtains. The pictures you see on booking.com are misleading. There seems to be two parts to this hotel-the newer renovated which are overpriced and these abandoned sheds. Don't stay here..
Review 39:At first, I was pleased with the receptionist. The next morning, she was not polite and disregarded us completely.without even a good-bye.
Review 40:Nothing
Review 41:Beautiful old building on the edge of the old town - excellent location. No parking on site but free parking was not far away. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff.
Review 42:Tiny shower!
Review 43:Hotel's history, staff were nice, breakfast was good, location was excellent, free wifi was a bonus and the shower gel/shampoo was lovely.
Review 44:The very noisy man who was obviously locked out of his house by his wife between approx 2 & 3 am. Either he git in or fell asleep !!
Review 45:Access to the town, breakfast was excellent. Morning staff could not be more helpful. I arrived by motorbike and parking was no problem as I imagine would be the same for cyclists. The hotel was everything I want from a local French Hotel, reminds me of the old touring days.
Review 46:Difficult to manage stairs to 2nd floor with heavy suitcase.
Review 47:We really loved the location of the hotel and character of the room. Receptionist was lovely and helpful, and evening meal was very good .
Review 48:Weak internet wifi signal in the rooms, small elevator
Review 49:Location, Staff, Good Breakfast, Very beautiful hotel, High quality Soap and Shampoo. Recommended.
Review 50:The location was great but the best part was our room. Beautiful, funky, clean and very comfortable. We loved it!
Review 51:Small room, but typical in French travel

Review 53:Everything closed early, we can't find a place to eat.

Review 59:The cute little bedroom with stone walls intriuged my son
Review 60:The whole place was pretty shoddy and the floors were sticky
Review 61:Location right on the edge of Sarlat old town
Review 62:Horrible staff/owner

Review 74:This building has lots of character, pleasant staff and the food is good.
Review 75:Small rooms. Unusual layout
Review 76:Decor needs updating. Breakfast is very basic, staff somewhat indifferent.
Review 77:Very large room. Good restaurant for dinner.
Review 78:Come & experience it yourself...
Review 79:our room was beautiful, easy parking, walkable location and Sarlat is gorgeous.
Review 80:Mismatch of description with actual room features
Review 81:Location great
Review 82:The location, the building, the restaurant for dinner, the staff and the town.
Review 83:Great location -ease of access to all amenities
Review 84:Tremendous site
Review 85:The only problem was limited parking facilities.
Review 86:Great hotel in walking distance of the square, with restaurants and shops.
Review 87:Room was tiny and staff made no effort to move us, even though we were there for four nights
Review 88:location was excellent
Review 89:But living is not such comfortable
Review 90:Old style is always my favorite, the room is decorated by half morden style and half old facilities, charming.
Review 91:Easy stroll into the magnificent old town .
Review 92:Rooms a little cramped
Review 93:Helpful staff Good restaurant attached Good breakfast Bicycle racks provided Central location
Review 94:The room was perfect for a family
Review 95:The room
Review 96:The food was ok
Review 97:Uncomfortable beds, and the lack of a/c would make it unusable in hot weather.
Review 98:Liked the location, and the old French feel, and the charm of the property inside and out.
Review 99:Despite being advertised as having a lift, the available information to consumers does not reflect the amount of stairs required to access rooms. Not suitable for those having difficulty with mobility
Review 100:Good location
Review 101:We were given an outside room, up the side street over the kitchens with no internal access, even though we paid full price for a standard room in December. The hotel was full so no opportunity to move room. We felt unsafe and ostracised from the ambience of what seemed a lovely hotel. The receptionist seemed unsympathetic to our concerns. As an elderly couple it was far from ideal. The rooms glass door was 6 steps off the street, with the shutters closed it was like being in a cave
Review 102:The room was prettily furnished. Excellent location for old town
Review 103:Locked out of hotel at 10pm before hotel policy locked door time of 11pm, took several calls to raise staff to gain access. Unable to get taxi from rail station to hotel, called hotel was told they could not assist and hung up.
Review 104:The difficulty in getting from the railway station to the Hotel as I had not been aware that taxis are a rarity at the station. I believe that the hotel should offer a pick up service (with a small charge) thus alleviating the stress Particularly when arriving into the evening.
Review 105:The commitment of Isabelle in ensuring guests are satisfied. Her spontaneous offer to drive us to a Choral concert some diastance from the hotel --this was far beyond our expectations of which we were most appreciative. She oversees a well run establish.
Review 106:No tea making facilities No fridge Too many steps to room Asked for superior room but it didn't seem all that superior
Review 107:Location Good Food in Restaurant
Review 108:The wifi did not work properly which would normally not bother me, but despite asking for the password and explaining that it didn't work, nothing more was done. This meant checking our reservations for other parts of our trip was impossible. The service in the restaurant could have been better, we waited 20 minutes before we were acknowledged and offered a drink. The menu wasn't very exciting, although the food was well cooked and of a high standard. The breakfast was nearly non existent even though we arrived well before the end of breakfast being served, the coffee was finished and was not being refilled, despite myself and 2 other customers both requesting that it be refilled.
Review 109:The hotel is clean and warm. The prices are very fair. The restaurant looks nice and has a nice feel.
Review 110:The manager was friendly and helpful. A comfortable and convenient place to stay. It was nice to see a bidet. When I'm in France, I like to feel like I am in France. Sarlat is a beautiful town/small city.
Review 111:Sarlat is really nice town, close to beautiful countryside. The hotel was well situated.. The staff were excellent. Price was good. Will definitely go back
Review 112:The cleaning maid opened our door with a key at 10h in the morning, shedidn't knock at the door at all !! The dinner at the hotel is tooexpensive, around 50€ per person, while it is 20€ elsewhere.
Review 113:Nice hotel room, the style is unique. The building is historical.
Review 114:Wifi doesn't work on the third floor. You have to go down to the second floor where there is a free computer and a hotspot.
Review 115:Great location near the town centre
Review 116:Location was very good for visiting the city sites in the market
Review 117:10 euros for very mediocre breakfast. A bit dingy.
