Reviews for Hôtel Belle Fontainebleau

Review 1:Very thin walls for noisy other guests to cause disturbance. Charged extra for breakfast and was the worst for many years: dregs of cereal no hot food coffee cold. Had bath with shower but no screen or curtain.

Review 2:Helpful staff. Location good.

Review 3:Bit noisy and no sound proofing between rooms

Review 4:Fantastic location. Better than I expected from reviews. Would definitely go again if on my own but probably not if I was with my wife

Review 5:Old building makes some neusances, eg. steep steps - especially noticable when you walk with suitcases.

Review 6:Perfect location. Chateau in 2 minutes walk. Public parking acros s the street.

Review 7:no lift and many stairs to my room. Bathroom was very small. Not double-glazed windows so road noise was a problem

Review 8:located in centre of town and near to car park. Friendly and helpful staff

Review 9:Our rooms were on the fourth floor. That was 80 steps with luggage and there was no lift. The staircase was narrow, badly lit and with the carpet on some treads loose. We had concerns about fire evacuation. The furniture in my room was thick with dust. The bed cover had seen better days and showed signs of use. The bathroom, whilst nicely fitted and clean, was full of foul smelling sewer gas. The rooms were not air-conditioned so windows had to be open on a warm June evening/night. The central location of the hotel meant that all the music from the entertainments and the comings and goings of motorbikes (whose park was just below the windows) made sleep impossible until the early hours. The bin-men arrived at 0400, so we did not get a good night's sleep. Arrangements fro breakfast were in the cramped reception area. The coffee, from a pump-flask, was tepid and the choice of foodstuffs limited. This hotel did not represent value for money.

Review 10:The bed linen was clean. The croissants and bread at breakfast were fresh and tasty. Parking was easy. The location of the hotel was very central and therefor good for the tourist.

Review 11:4 flights of steep stairs no lift pretty basic Not amazingly cheap for the basic nature of the facilities / rooms

Review 12:Great central location. friendly staff Ok value - cheap and cheerful

Review 13:We were car travellers from Australia, and we found it difficult to understand where we could park. Our room was fantastic at night with the nightlife scene, however next morning we were opposite the Post Office (early start) and the rubbish pick happened that morning, coupled with early morning pickup of lunches from the bar next door. So we got up at 6:30..

Review 14:Great location of the hotel, easy to walk for meals, the Chateau and everything else. Loved the place.

Review 15:The fire escape was a poor joke. Only one narrow spiral staircase for escape route from all floors unless you choose to jump out of a window onto a passer by thirty feet plus below. Hopefully they would adequately break your fall.

Review 16:Convenience to parking and all city attractions. the staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. Good value for money. Decent discount for booking on line. How many more letters do I need for goodness sake?

Review 17:There were no facilities for making drinks in the room. No shower curtain in the over bath shower. Stale bread for breakfast. Broken furniture in the room. Glad we had only stayed the one night.

Review 18:It was in a lovely part of the town

Review 19:The beds were uncomfortable, breakfast was expensive, the location made the evenings very loud, and the room was not really clean when we came.

Review 20:The staff were nice and the location was great.

Review 21:lack of air conditioning means windows need to be open on to a lively street so can be a bit noisy

Review 22:Very nice helpful staff and perfect location is excellent in the centre of town

Review 23:No mattress pad on bed. Flat sheet on bottom instead of a fitted sheet & would wake up & find my face on the mattress.( without a pad ) Top sheet did not tuck in near my head. Owner was not friendly. 12 year old boy ( I think the owners son ) was used to clean the toilet"s every day. Too young & I did not like that he was made to do that. Chinese owners spoke NO English at all. Very unusual for a hotel front desk , even in France.

Review 24:The location.

Review 25:-Horrible lobby/breakfast space (we never ate there) -rooms needupdating badly but are clean -no elevator- DANGEROUS STAIRCASE (I FELL HAULING SUITCASE)

Review 26:-Perfect location -very friendly staff -grand view from balcony -freeovernight parking -worth saving 78 !! euro per night by not staying athotel across street. We atayed 6 nights.

Review 27:No respect of privacy. Someone's from staff had a kid wandering around. They just walked into our room. They also charged surcharge for internet booking which then made it poor value

Review 28:Location was good

Review 29:No face wash clothes. The hotel is situated on a very noisy street. When you close the windows, the noise is not bad, however there was poor ventilation of the room with the window closed.

Review 30:The Staff was very nice. The Breakfast was nice.

Review 31:Nice hotel...

Review 32:location is very good as its in the high street i will definately recomend this hotel will love to stay there again

Review 33:Complete lack of facilities and poor room servicing.

Review 34:The location

Review 35:A bit oudated. Internet didn't work in my room.

Review 36:Location was great!!

Review 37:It was poorly decorated and needed new carpets. The window in the bathroom was dirty

Review 38:very convenient for the Palace

Review 39:Good location, friendly staff, clean.

Review 40:Parking expensive

Review 41:Central location

Review 42:Bars at night were super noisy, just below my window at the hotel. No lift, could be a trouble for somebody

Review 43:Location

Review 44:The room and the price

Review 45:Friendly staff, tasty breakfast (croisstants always fresh, nice coffee etc)

Review 46:A great base for three days cycling and walking in the Forest of Fontainebleau. Helpful friendly staff. Real value for money.

Review 47:All the staff are friendly and helpful

Review 48:The shower tray kept filling up and not runing away

Review 49:Room a little cramped, beds not particularly comfortable

Review 50:dirty bed, hair and dust in the cabinet, batharea not clean

Review 51:Extremly uncomfortable hard beds.

Review 52:Location was good and staff was very helpful. The breakfast was fine.

Review 53:It's a little bit old, though the bathrooms have been modernized, so I didn't mind

Review 54:Very good location (close to the castle, right in the centre), if it's not too busy there's free parking close by. I will come back when I'll return to Fontainebleau. Clean, good price quality

Review 55:No elevator, rather hard bed, old pillows. Had booked double room and was given one with 120cm wide bed, prompting us to check out after one of two planned nights. And very small room. Almost too small for two people. Apparently the hotel had "proper" double rooms and offered one to us when checking out, but by then we had already book a new room elsewhere. I guess the main problem was that we were not informed about this "extra cheap class" of double rooms before arriving (it was 7 EUR cheaper than regular double room)...

Review 56:Renovated bath rooms As central location as one can have

Review 57:The walls are paper-thin and you can hear everyone and everything. It is impossible to sleep. Doors slamming, guests walking in the corridor, guest arguing next door.

Review 58:It was much smaller than I expected, but actually pretty typical foranything in Europe, and the location for visiting Palais deFontainebleau was perfect, and the hotel staff was very friendly andanxious to help.

Review 59:Bed was very uncomfortable and I couldn't sleep, which is the most basic function of a hotel room. Night porter did not speak English or want to try to understand my basic french. Seemed put out to be having to deal with me, actually huffed and puffed. Lady during the day was totally the opposite, being both friendly and helpful. The TV in the room had no remote and was high on a wall but I didn't use it anyway so it's just an observation. I would stay again in the hope that the uncomfortable mattress was a one off as the price was very good.

Review 60:Very picturesque town. Breakfast was continental, nothing cooked but very fresh croissants and bread. Room was clean. Price was very cheap.

Review 61:Noisy location nearby bars particularly during a "festive" event inthe town place

Review 62:Management & staff tried to give good service Eg Offer to change to better room Close to town centre and bus stops

Review 63:The reception doubled as a babysitting room, a place to iron the hotel linen and the dining room. There was a unpleasant, strong smell of cooking from the kitchen. There is NO elevator, stairs are narrow and winding. the room was very small with very little furnishings, cold and practical. The bathroom was not as clean and there was someone's else hair on the bed covers and a small insect on the sheets. Bring your own pillows.

Review 64:The location was the only redeeming quality of this hotel.

Review 65:Staff very untidy and scruffy in appearance and would not help with bags. World recession and people are rude would I go back NO shame as it is a relaxing place

Review 66:Location very good and local Resturant veery good

Review 67:The hotel was cheap and one gets what one pays for. It is near the Chateau. And staff were friendly even if some didnt speak any English. But then I should speak more French! If you want a cheap hotel, then its fine. If you want more, look elsewhere

Review 68:Price Everything looked renewed except the matrass, I could feel its springs on my back and shoulders all night. Not very clean. Window outside shutters too old to be used.

Review 69:Renewed bathroom. Location

Review 70:could be a bit noisy at night due to the local bars being so close by. local carparks were a bit pricey.

Review 71:it very central location, one could literally fall out of the door and into the palace gardens. Bars and eaterys also on the doorstep.

Review 72:Wifi can be a little unreliable though plenty fast when it's working. The beds are a little thin and were uncomfortable for me.

Review 73:The staff was super helpful and accommodating and the location is extremely convenient to all of Fontainebleau's attractions.

Review 74:The room was so small that it even had a wardrobe. If you are travelingwith huge luggage this is going to be a problem for you.

Review 75:The location of the hotel is excellent, your are on walking distance ofeverywhere in downtown and the castle. The sheets are clean and theshower is fair for the price!

Review 76:the noise of the rain falling was somewhat disturbing for my sleep, and I should have asked for more covers on bed as it was not warm enough in the room

Review 77:the fact that it was near the castle, shopping areas and restaurants, etc The staff are very kind

Review 78:Very helpful staff. Nothing fancy here but rooms were CLEAN!

Review 79:It I'd not fancy! But everything works.

Review 80:Great location sweet staff

Review 81:No power in the room through the night, bedding uncomfortable

Review 82:Bathroom roomy and clean

Review 84:Clean and central. Nice ensuite

Review 85:It is not fancy but it is clean and well maintained and the staff are always kind and helpful and it is in the perfect location

Review 86:excellent location, cheap room, clean

Review 87:I thought it is much better than the comments, and the location is just perfect! Staffs are nice and

Review 88:Very old and run-down hotel with very small rooms and small bathroom.

Review 89:Central location in town and only 10 minutes walk to INSEAD

Review 90:no parking

Review 91:great location, v. good breakfast, view

Review 92:Tiny rooms, you can hear what the neighbours say...

Review 93:For being in Fontainebleau, the price is ok.

Review 94:parking

Review 95:situation

Review 96:Our room for 2 was quite small but our room for 3 was a good size.

Review 99:proximity to the castle

Review 100:Unfortunately it is next to a bar so can be a bit noisy at times.

Review 101:Good location, easy to walk to shops and Fontainebleau chateau.

Review 102:No elevator. Poor wireless connection.

Review 103:Spotless clean, friendly, helpful staff.

Review 104:room very, very small

Review 105:positioning bear t castle

Review 106:room small, pillow was really dirty, bed is too soft and not big enough for two person

Review 107:location good

Review 108:can be noissy at night

Review 109:great location. clean. friendly staff.

Review 110:There wasnt room to swing a cat , toilet seat broken , in dire need of redecorating

Review 111:Only position

Review 112:responsible hotel keeper

Review 113:Cold at night

Review 114:Great location for visiting the Palace at Fontainebleau. Comfortable clean room, very reasonable cost.

Review 115:charging extra money for breakfast. Breakfast not that good though clean.

Review 116:clean, location, value for money, and friendly staff

Review 117:the noise no free parking space (need to pay an extra 15€ to park)

Review 118:the location

Review 119:The hotel is very close to Fontainebleau and the bus station. The hotel staff is very friendly.

Review 120:the location was perfect!

Review 121:The massive tv & the service
