Reviews for Gloria Palace San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel
Review 1:Spa pool quite worn down and needing upgrade, dont think hotel guests should have to pay to use spa or gym.
Review 2:All rooms were south facing so always sun on balcony.Food excellent.
Review 3:Where to start- this is your grandfathers resort. Didnt seen many vuests under the age of 60. All older couples and families, mostly from uk skandinavia and germany etc. Grounds are nice, but pools cold and no hot tub or jacuzzy. Rooms are old and well suited for old people. No bellman to help you with luggage or show you to your room. Mini bar empty. The seem to not have double or king beds, only singles to push together. No way to control temp in room. Worse- food buffets especialy breakfast. Wayyyyy too many peopele and nowhere near enough food or help. 1lady flipping eggs for 500 or more people.20 monute walk dpwn a hill to the waterfront this is a quiet area not much action. After driving around the island and seeing so many other cool properties i would not stay here again. Ahh and next door is a super expensive spa. 2 hours in a saltwater hot tub 24 euro,. This hotel will nickel and dime you to death. In room safe? 2.50 euro per day for the rental. Plus a deposit for a little plastic key to activate it. What a joke. 2 euros to use the public computers. Etc etc. Europeans must be very tolerant of these ridiculous policies, wouldnt fly in other parts of the world.
Review 4:Girls at the reception desk very friendly and helpful.
Review 5:The first night my partner and I were unable to sleep due to the old and worn bed. At 4am I complained. The remedy was effective, 10 blankets piled on top of each other, spread over the bed. It was bearable to sleep in, but now a very warm bed in a very warm climate. It felt as if this hotel has seen its prime. I would not return.
Review 6:It is convenient to have half board or full board so you don't have to contemplate where to eat.
Review 7:Smoking...we had to keep shutting our balcony door because it blew in the room.also too close to people eating outside. Also the noise of small dogs barking when left alone on the balcony. They should have areas fir smokers and ban it in the hotel rooms.or seperate smokers and none smoking rooms.
Review 8:The whole hotel was very clean. The staff very friendly would do anything for you. The food excellent and it was quiet when the bars shut.
Review 9:The company they used to take pictures of the guests at night and during the day by the pool was not very good. They took lots of pictures of us but the quality of the pictures wasn't very good and they charged 10 euros for them (12 euros for the larger picture) which was too much for pictures that were not taken by professional photographers.
Review 10:We loved the shows at night, entertainers at the kids club and all the hotel staff in general. Food was good too. I didn't try the thalassotherapy installations but they looked impressive. The rooftop Gorbea restaurant and club looked amazing!
Review 11:Closed disco.
Review 12:Excelent! Did not expect it so good. Guy in resepsion named Sario is very kind and helps you with everything. If available the best room is yours. Moreover location was nice. It is ieasy reach airport, las palmas and maspalomas. Bus station is close and for beach hotel has own shuttle buses.
Review 13:I cannot find any fault anywhere
Review 14:This hotel is absolutely fabulous with such beautiful and friendly staff, the Spa is a must to visit, food excellent and dining room was very well organised. My room spacious and had gorgeous views. Weather was icing on the cake yes i will be back very soon thank you
Review 15:The room maid seemed overworked. Needs a helping hand on changeover days especially. One elevator was very noisy.
Review 16:The food was very good. The staff were very friendly especially in the pool bar (pedro). The entertainment was good around the pool. In the evening the floor shows were very good.
Review 17:-
Review 18:Excellent hotel. Polite, friendly & helpful staff. Great selection of food. Rooms, pool area, restaurant, bars, and all public areas are kept spotlessly clean. Been visiting Gran Canaria for over 25 years and the Gloria Palace is, by far, the best hotel I have stayed in. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and will be returning for another holiday soon.
Review 19:Tennis court was old, bad tennis racket (not worth the name) which we still had to pay for! Breakfast staff not always so accomodating. Guests left food on table for birds to grab!
Review 20:Friendly, professional cleaning lady. Pool area. View from balcony.
Review 21:Wouldn't recommend d for solo couples. Only a family resort great for families with children not otherwise.
Review 22:Lovely views from 7th floor.good buffet lots of choice for breakfast and dinner.top floor pool cabanas absolutely amazing.good entertainment if you have children.
Review 23:All Inclusive not worth going for as you can only get drinks on a separate menu which are very watered down.
Review 24:Staff on reception not very pleasant the way they speak not very pleasant and rather sharp at times.
Review 25:The AC in the room and restaurant was poor. The reception staff were not overly helpful. Was disappointed to be charged for a late check out of the room.
Review 26:Food was good and varied. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly. The entertainment staff were very friendly.
Review 27:I HATE the wifi connection here, very slow and always disconnect from the server.
Review 28:With stay here 4th time in a row in 4 years. Very comfortable, clean and relaxing hotel. Staff were attentive and helpful. Food was amazing with plenty of choice. Good location to stay with lots of amenities.
Review 29:Very noisy place before midnight, also to rent a bicycle you have to liive a open credit card for deposit.(not good) If you like a safe deposit you have to pay extra money (not included with the room price). The wifi working very badly
Review 30:The breakfast was great
Review 31:After midnight you dont have many options of food. I had to go to bed hungry after having 2 very small chicken sandwiches. Could also have transfer to airport.
Review 32:Breakfast very good with many options! Free transfer to playa del ingles and maspalomas. Staff very helpfull. I also enjoyed the pool area. Wifi was good most of time.
Review 33:None
Review 34:Fantastic staff, always smiling and helpful. Really top notch food, by far the best we have experienced in a large holiday hotel. Will definitely be going back. For £36 per person h/b this was an absolute steal!
Review 35:The wifi connection in our room was bad, we had to go to the terrace to get a not very good connection. The swimming pool is small and not so many parking places for such hotel's capacity. 2 euros fee to go to the gym for customers. Only 10% of disccount for customers to enjoy the Spa.
Review 36:The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially at the breafast and dinner. The breakfast and dinner were really good, lots of options and good quality. The views from the room were nice. Space in the rooms was enough. Nice welcome at the check-in.
Review 37:People stayed Above us was noisy, they were moving funitures and children was running in their room.
Review 38:Cleaner was very friendly and helpful, the room was always clean.
Review 39:Service on roof poor. Because of thus we didnt bother with tbe gorbea restaurant. Shame. Lifts terrible to small and took ages to go up and down floors. typical 90,s hotel really. Pigeons all over food in the outside kitchen a lunchtime yuk. Only ate there the once ! House wine was poor quality. Plastic sheetimg on beds ! hotel for young family. Only the grum concrete mall ar night to go to. Preffered the moderness of maspolmas area. Free bus was a perk to escape xx
Review 40:Roof top pool. But could be soooo much better.
Review 41:slow checking in no offer to help with bags air con in room ineffective just 2 single beds pushed together 2.50 euro a day for room safe
Review 42:sea view from room good WiFi in room Excellent breakfast lots of choice
Review 43:There was no information in the room about the services / facilities available in the hotel and it was necessary to find out for ourselves over the first few days of our stay. We were put off using the Spa facilities by the considerable extra costs involved. The tea-making arrangements at breakfast time were inadequate - i.e. leaky small tea pots -compared to the large coffeflasks that were available to coffee drinkers.
Review 44:The staff are friendly and efficient. The bedroom which was clened daily was very comfortable and a good size with a nice balcony for 'chilling out'. The swimming pool is fabulous and the main focal point for most guests.
Review 45:Arrival by coach is not a 4 star experience, guests are deposited on the roadside and must walk with their luggage , and amongst small vechicle traffic,(the footpaths are too narrow /blocked with parked cars) approx. 80 mtrs. to the hotel entrance, which is not even clearly defined.
Review 46:Comfortable padded sun loungers!Buffet meals, huge variety, plenty of tables.Well kept multi level gardens / sun terraces.
Review 47:Hotel is too large. As such the breakfast/dinner room is extremely noisy and confusing. Given that it's high season all year long, this happens always. WiFi never works in the room. It works sporadically (depending on the number of people accessing it) in the lobby where most people can be spotted with laptops and smart phones. The girls at the reception are useless; only the supervisor can fix problems. We were 3 paying adults but got a standard room with a lousy small extra bed.
Review 48:Position.
Review 49:dogs in the restaurant, cockroaches in restaurant although only seen 3 on one occasion. some staff not very friendly, chidren running unsupervised while entertainment was on, New years Eve was a joke outsiders came in and took over hotel, meal was an hour late being served which meant we were late arriving at barand all inclusive service had finnished at 11.30pm we left restarant at 11.45pm before dinner had ended to see new year in. we were unable to gain entrance to the bar for pre dinner drinks as it was closed until later and drinks were being served outside but winds were very high and it was cold. we could only book a table in the bar area for new years eve if we paid a minimum od 108 euros as this was the cheapest champagne (nether my husband or I drink champagne) and baring in mind we are already pais residents of the hotel I think it is unfair that we shoud have to pay for this privilege.
Review 50:rooms were large and clean, maids very polite and reception staff polite and helpful. completely different experience when we went in may, excellent, to new year very disapointing.
Review 51:new years eve they changed from a buffet to a sit down for dinner on new years eve -2 sittings staff worked verry hard but my meal was cold when i got served buffet on christmas night was excellent-also they increased price of a beer from 3.60to8.0 from 8pm that nite verry mean no style for a 4 star we spent over 4000.00euro there wont be back
Review 52:staff were excellent-food was good changing to sit down waiter service for new yr night was madness worst meal we had pool area verry good plenty of space our 2 teenagers enjoyed the facilities
Review 53:Whilst the food was very good, some of it from the serveries was not kept hot enough, and often cold by the time we sat down to eat. The standard of the free wi-fi was extremely poor; disconnected every hour (on the hour), then took as long as 20 minutes to come back on.
Review 54:The food was very good and there was always plenty of it. The bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned daily to a very high standard.
Review 55:some residents hadn't booked tennis courts and therefore when we arrived for a game the courts were full, one mix up in evening with table reservation *& wine bill but was easily rectified by staff
Review 56:Staff were superb, hotel was within walking distance to beach and local shops, freee coach transfer to Maspalomas only took 10 minutes, all bars were superb, pools excellent, reception we received when we arrived was brilliant as flight had been delayed and we were all ready for rest/break
Review 57:WiFi in the family rooms not stable The door quite noisy between the sleeping room and bathroom and a door for the second room is missing, somewhat tricky when family members don't have the same timing.
Review 58:Very friendly staff Excellent food, the buffets were amazing The pool and facility was lovely The rooms spacious and confortable for a family of 4 The access o the beaches and the surf school was great
Review 59:Extra charges for heated pool and jacuzzi ! Vegetarian people should avoid Family rooms located outside in annex - feels like B&B not posh at all- poor value for money
Review 60:Location Staff Hotel facilities
Review 61:The free WiFi / Internet was down 10 minutes every hour for some reason we dont know. After a while it was obvious that it was timed as it was exactly on the hour. Beds were a bit hard but we asked for extra mattresses which we got, so that solved the problem. Windy most of the days but I guess that goes with the southeast coast of Gran Canaria in the winter.
Review 62:Nice buffets with varying theme every day Well tempered pools Activity team with activities every hour from 10 to 17 Activities were nicely divided for three different age groups: 4-12 (kids), 12-18 (teens), 18+ (adults)
Review 63:Minor issues: first three days they didn't change our sheets even when there was sand on them, only after we dropped them on the floor they changed them. Also last three days cleaning lady forgot to put soap in the bathroom so we had to wash our hands with shampoo, not an issue for me but my wife wasn't happy. Quite noisy in the evening when they have a show for children (3rd floor).
Review 64:Almost everything: food is great, location is super, 500m from beach - close enough to get quickly to the ocean, far enough not to be disturbed by its noise in the night. Overall price/quality ratio is good.
Review 65:Wifi was hit and miss. My friend had more of it, I only had it for a few seconds at a time.
Review 66:We only stayed 4 nights but did not really need to come out of the hotel, everything was there for us. Pool is amazing, staff are very friendly and helpful, food is good. Visited the spa, and we were pleasantly surprised. We even got a breakfast basket to take away, as we were flying back early in the morning. Great experience, would come back any time! P.s. loved the churros! :)
Review 67:Wifi didn't work properly in the room and I had to go to the lobby for a connection. Only The last day After several complaints and After requesting the complaint book the hotel decided to do something. Far away from the beach or restaurants
Review 68:Breakfast is good and offers variety of food. Free parking. Fridge in the room.
Review 69:The staff and the service is to slowly and only one person decide the things. The wifi in my room did not function and the air condition did not work so well. My room was very hot, the tecnichal tried to do something but nothing change. My minibar was empty.
Review 70:Is a good structure, good space and a lot of things to do the all day.
Review 71:The reception, not organized at all. Refused to get us a better room after a 2hours waiting and didnt have in consideration that was our second time at the hotel.
Review 72:The hotel commodities are great, its a very nice hotel with a great surround and beautiful views.
Review 73:- poor wifi connection and bandwith - rock hard matress
Review 74:Exactly what you would expect of a 4 star hotel. Good food, enthousiastic staff, clean, well maintained, ...
Review 75:San Augustin was not very nice. Saw other parts of the island ie melonares, Puerto Rico and mogan were much nicer. No inflatables or balls allowed in pools. Beds were very hard. Had to pay deposit for pool towels and pay to change them.
Review 76:The food was pretty good. Some of the staff were helpful although one member very rude. Most of the evening entertainment was good.
Review 77:Umbrellas by pool in need of maintenance ( subject to significant winds). Bar on expensive side.
Review 78:Great accommodation. Excellent restaurant and food.
Review 79:pool areas completely infested by the pool towel critters making all poolchairs occupied by towels and not people, wifi/internet is so bad that I get angry just by thinking about it, the beds in family rooms are harder than my army bunk beds (my back is still not ok), coffe making facilities in room lack the water heater (which is sort of necessary to use this), mystical seawater pool on roof that nobody seems to know anything about
Review 80:External facilities like lobby areas and pool areas, cleanliness, excellent food and buffets, excellent will from the staff to make you comfortable if they can help
Review 81:Staff was very friendly and helpful.we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
Review 82:Friendly staff. Swimming pools were very clean. Food was good.

Review 132:Breakfast
Review 133:Breakfast was extensive with lots of options. The view from our room (8th floor) was amazing. Roof top terrace, more relaxing than the larger poolside loungers. Late check out available. Staff were all friendly and willing to help out wherever possible.
Review 134:Sometimes and somewhere the wifi connection is poor.
Review 135:This was my third time at Gloria Palace (previous times were years ago) and I look forward to come for the fourth one. The atmosphere is astonishing, staff is friendly and welcoming, food is great, and everything is designed for your relax and to enjoy your holidays as much as you can. I traveled all over the world but for many reasons this is the place where I feel like at home (or better!) the most. Book a room!
