Reviews for BEST WESTERN Hôtel Littéraire Gustave Flaubert

Review 1:Take the stairs. The lift is like stepping into a refrigerator.

Review 2:This is a nice hotel in an excellent location. With some improvements it could be the best hotel in rouen.

Review 3:The man on reception was very very helpful and when there was a problem on the twin bed booking gave us two separate rooms for the same price. Excellent service. Clean. Great decor. Great breakfast. Free wifi.

Review 4:The address posted is wrong. The hotel entrance is 200m distant in a street at right angles to Pie St, and not easy to find.

Review 5:Central for strolling around the pedestrian streets of the old town. Some lovely old half timbered buildings.

Review 6:we were put in a 5th floor room on the trip outbound, corridor lights didn't work and the shower had to be propped up to enable you to use it.

Review 7:We like the new refurbishments that have been done, and we stopped on the 1st floor this trip which has been completed.

Review 8:Absurdly small room + annoying decoration work being carried out in the foyer (should have been worth 10% off)

Review 9:Very nice breakfast on final day. Useful location. Parking useful though access difficult.

Review 10:The room (207) was noisy with strange creaking all night - reception not interested in complaint. The entrance through the hotel to the main street has been made exit only and, as I had hurt my foot, using the cobbled gateway was extremely painful - again reported to reception but not interested or helpful. Note - this means access to the hotel is now difficult and would not suit disabled visitors or those with mobility problems.

Review 11:The location is excellent. Breakfast was good and served by very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 12:Really hard to find at first and address misleading. Would help to explain how the street bollards work in advance.

Review 13:Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location, once we found hotel. Despite building works going on in reception staff still available when needed.

Review 14:Unless you know Rouen, it is impossible to find.

Review 15:We were opgraded!

Review 16:Garage parking. Excellent service

Review 17:You were hard to locate, even with a sat nav.

Review 18:The central location.

Review 19:Cold Breakfast and kettle in room had no power cable. Address on website is incorrect and there is no easy parking nearby.

Review 20:Location

Review 21:Good central site, work was ongoing re improvement, hence we got an excellent price!

Review 22:poorly lit rooms, lack of room and bathroom heating (presumably faulty)

Review 23:convenient location for restaurants and shops and sight seeing - parking facilities on site

Review 24:Very small car park above ground so we had to use the car lift to access their underground car park which is a bit tight for big cars but very secure & I would expect most of the Hotels in the Center would be the same due to lack of space!

Review 25:The staff were extremly helpful when we had a mini crisis, friendly & very accommodating ,we would definitely return again if looking to overnight in central Rouen. Although there was only a breakfast restaurant the location was right on the most popular square surrounded by lovely restaurants & bars so guests would have been unlikely to want to dine in the Hotel anyway! Very clean comfortable rooms nicely decorated & surprisingly quiet considering location!

Review 26:Facility is in trouble- room partly redone but base flooring only inbathroom, dry wall around tub unfinished and no cabinetry coveringexposed pipes. Felt like being in an abandoned construction zone.Unworthy of other European Best Western Properties.

Review 27:Staff was supportive

Review 28:Smll room ,, One of the workers dealt with us racist because we are Arabs ,, Must be brought to the attention of this woman by the hotel management ,, thanx

Review 29:Heating in the room not working properly, we had to use the bathroom heater and keep the door open of the toilet, however, even that stopped in the morning (probably on hotel timer!). Very expensive for a three star hotel chain.

Review 30:The staff Sara was excellent. The location is excellent. Parking available under hotel for €10 per night. Shower head excellent.

Review 31:- no shower curtain in bathroom, was told all bedrooms were without shower curtains after I reported that I had slipped and could have injured myself. The receptionist did not see that the bathrooms are dangerous - the member of staff on reception looks after the breakfast room and mans the bar - lack of choice at breakfast, mainly because it had been put out early in a morning and was so uninspiring that guests were not eating it

Review 32:central location - Rouen is a beautiful city and the hotel is a short walk from all the sights

Review 33:Lack of parking facilities; three out of four lamps over bathroom mirrorwere either missing or defective; there was no rubber shower mat(important for more mature people); the hospitality tray was extremelymean; could not open the room window.

Review 34:Its proximity to the town centre; bed was comfortable and spacious androom, generally, was satisfactory but see opposite.

Review 35:Not the easiest place to find but that is the nature of the old partof the city.

Review 36:Fantastic location for touring the old sites of Rouen.I was travelling with my parents and teh room we had was very roomy by European standards.

Review 37:I found the aggressively modern design of the public areas (such as the lobby, etc.) to be oppressive and off-putting, especially given the very traditional area of the hotel's location. I felt this so strongly that I would seek a different hotel were I to have another stay in Rouen. Also, the parking situation is a big challenge for this hotel.

Review 38:Central location and the comfortable bed.

Review 39:It was not a big issue, but be aware that parking is tight and a larger size car will not have a lot of room.

Review 40:This hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of Rouen's old market square...easy walk to everything. Breakfast was good with a variety of choices and there are many restaurants nearby. The staff is delightful...very friendly and helpful.

Review 41:The room - apparently the best in the hotel - was small with very cheap furniture. It was exceptionally hot without air conditioning and the fridge was hardly cold at all. I would have expected something more classy for over 200 euros per night including a couple of (very expensive) drinks at the bar but no breakfast.

Review 42:The location.

Review 43:We had 2 rooms between us and our adult children. Our room had no shower curtain/fixture and in their room the shower fixture would not stay on the wall. When we asked to be moved to another room, the smell of B.O. In the new room was so bad that we immediately asked to be moved back.we were glad to move on . . .

Review 44:The location was really it's only saving grace.

Review 45:Breakfast was extra, the rooms were very dark and you could smell smoke from the other rooms.

Review 46:It was well located and had some on site parking. Fairly standard business hotel

Review 47:Would have liked to park at the hotel

Review 48:Central location, friendly staff who could speak english. Very close to some excellent places to eat. Although there was not any car parking available there was parking very close by.

Review 49:I paid for a comfort double room for 4 nights, but our room was thesmallest room on our floor so I really wouldn't like to see how smallthe standard double room is. Also, is wasn't a great hotel for relaxingand getting good rest in the mornings. Our room looked out over thecourtyard, and no ac meant we had to sleep with our windows open so werewoken very early with noise. The cleaners start very early and theybanged doors, and don't really respect the 'do not disturb' signs. Wedid a lot of activities and day trips during the day and really wanted agood sleep but it would be disrupted from 7.30 onwards and this reallyaffected our stay.

Review 50:The hotel staff couldn't have been nicer, especially the night timestaff. The room had a flat screen tv, coffe and tea making facilities,iPod dock, shower and bath. The location is perfect, very close torestaurants and the main shopping area

Review 51:Bath water plug (room 104) didn't work. Shower was not fully adjustable; Breakfast was good but had to ask fior one or two items - staff were not as fully attentive as they should have been.

Review 52:Very convenient for Rouen old city. Good parking. Comfortable beds

Review 53:Finding the hotel by car could be difficult without a Sat Nav. The parking is limited and can be difficult when hotel is busy. The room is a bit on the small side but otherwise comfortable.

Review 54:It's central location makes it ideal for shopping, sight seeing or a weekend city break. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 55:The room we were given was dark, small and old! More suitable for a single person rather than a couple, very disappointed, but stayed as we were only there overnight.

Review 56:Not a lot, except parking was handy at 8Euros a night.

Review 57:high price for a (no more than) 3-star room Wifi available but need to log on again with every use

Review 58:great location just a few meters from the old market which is one of the centers of Rouen nice staff, small room, but well designed

Review 59:Trying to find out how to access the car park through the centre of town access barriers was impossible for me. I had to use the public car park which is not so helpful. If you are travelling by car, contact the hotel to find out how to access the car park. I was not asked if i wanted a smoking room when i checked in, even though i requested a smoking room on the booking form. So i assumed the hotel was no smaking, as many are nowadays. Turns out there were smoking rooms.

Review 60:Good location near city centre, well signposted access, very helpful staff. Nicely equipped rooms. Wifi worked well.

Review 61:Only thing I would mention is that the rooms don't seem to be completelysound proof but in saying that we didn't have any late night noise onour floor!

Review 62:Stayed for one night under the romantic room package. This was veryreasonable priced And included breakfast in bed and a really lovely 3course meal in a nearby cosy restaurant. The room while not enormous wasvery comfortable and clean. Staff were very accommodating and helpful.Overall very enjoyable trip.

Review 63:Parking charges

Review 66:great location private parking friendly staff

Review 67:No MiniBar Wi-Fi poor radius

Review 69:Breakfast was basic (for the price). There was a bar, but it would be nice if they could have put a sandwich or Panini out.

Review 72:We loved the location and the friendly staff.

Review 73:repairement works, was very noisy

Review 78:The lift is very old and needs a re vamp!

Review 79:The location is great for an over night visit. Lovely room. Great coffee machine.

Review 110:Breakfast fair but slighty to expensive 14.50 Euro each. Room comfortable buy a little to small.

Review 111:Excellent location. Friendly staff, .

Review 112:The only negative point is that the cleaning personnel didn't respect the "don't disturb sign" on the door!

Review 113:Parking was full and public parking had tight spaces.

Review 114:Staff excellent. breakfast fine but pricy. Location excellent for walking to everything.
