Reviews for Le Richelieu Bacchus
Review 1:The staff were very helpful, storing our bags early then moving them to our room while we visited the Chateau. The owner, his wife and all the team made our stay very pleasant. Restaurant meal was very good and competitive in price. The owner had a very good knowledge of local and other wines to advise us. Bags were carried downstairs when we departed.
Review 2:Our room was on the top floor and there is no elevator. In most cases, this would not be a problem for us, but in this hotel the stairs are narrow and there are addition stairs and corners in the hallways, making getting bags to the room difficult. The arrangement of the room was unusual with lots of space but no closets or places to hang clothes.
Review 3:The location was excellent, right across the street from Fontaineblau. The bathroom was outstanding with a circular tub that must have been 2 meters across, two sinks, and lots of space. We requested a larger room which meant we ended up with a room that slept 6. Unlike some rooms that sleep more than 2, there was lots of space not filled up with beds.
Review 4:I don't see any bad points but if I force myself to say one point, the sink doesn't have enough width to wash my face without spiling out the water on the floor.
Review 5:The room seemed to be renovated recently and had comfortable and spacious bed. The hotel locates at very close to the beautiful chateau fontainebleau and has easy access to train station and INSEAD campus. Further, the owner was very warm and kind. Thank you so much for the nice stay.
Review 6:This is at best a 2 star establishment presented as something much more! A room on the 4th floor of an old building with narrow staircase and without a lift was not the best start to our holiday. The receptionist suggested we park in a public car park without warning us that there will be market in that space next day so our departure was delayed by 4 hours until the area was cleared out and we could get to our car!
Review 7:The central location.
Review 8:Everything was good nothing bad at all.
Review 9:The location the rooms and also the fantastic food were top drawer. Would highly recommend this hotel and their marvelous staff !!
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:Right next to Palace, opera house is next door, see free opera from our balcony. Restaurant downstairs. Bathroom is clean and spacious. We love the balcony with blooming flowers.
Review 12:Told to park in public parking. Car towed away as market on following day. Think that the hotel should have informed us. Car was 10 km away so had to get a taxi an expensive morning of hassle. We are a mature couple and without a lift it is a long way to the third floor.
Review 13:Restaurant was good food excellent
Review 14:Fantastic huge family room, great views, amazing bathroom with bath big enough to swim in and very welcoming staff. Loved it and hope to return in future. Great stop-off for journey south.
Review 15:no bad experiences but be aware that the stairs are many ... Don't worry, they will take them to your room. In summer it can get warm and there are no air conditioners apart from a portable air exchanger in the room. Winter would be okay as there are plenty of heaters. Don't let the above put you off though
Review 16:Located across the road from the entry to Fontainebleu Chateau. Sound proofed rooms, good size rooms and bathroom. Helpful and friendly staff and a choice of 3 restaurants at street level in building, all very good.
Review 17:Could be a little noisy. Bells chiming on the hour all night and it's located next to a busy road.
Review 18:The location is excellent being right next to the chateau. The staff were very friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel's restaurant was very good value for money.
Review 19:The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned and sheets changed daily. Flat screen TV and plenty of plugs for our gadgets. A room safe was an added bonus.
Review 20:lack of own parking lot.
Review 21:town centre ,5 minutes to palace Fountainbleau, shops, restaurants around very friendly and full support staff. hearty breakfast-cheese fruits, juices real ham, jams and self made pate- very tasty .Room very clean.Bathroom with big bathtub.
Review 22:Great location, helpful reception. Clean and comfortable family room with a nice aspect over side street. Really nice shower, double sinks. Double glazing and blackout curtains were great to block out morning noise and light. The fan kept us cool. Also check out is 11.30am which means you don't have to rush in the morning.
Review 23:Very friendly owners and staff. Superb location. Unlike so many hotels, this has the feeeling of an independent, family-run hotel with a private house air.
Review 24:No lift , difficult stairs.the room was small and not well equiped. The staff were not really very interested in helping in any way
Review 25:Position close to the Chateau
Review 26:Noise from street. It's quiet at night though.
Review 27:Nicely renovated and large room. Renos still underway so we were served breakfast in our room. It was generous. Staff very helpful. When renos are complete I'd predict a rise in price, but for now it's delightful just no elevator.
Review 28:Location of room, top floor corner with 4 windows and beautiful view and breeze. Hotelier was most pleasant and hospitable, extremely helpful in resolving a parking issue when the electricity on the street went out.
Review 29:On a fairly noisy road so need to keep shutters and windows closed
Review 30:Location - cleanliness - welcoming owners - good size room - fan provided in room for hot weather
Review 31:Window view of chateaux was lovely. The hosts were really incredible and so welcoming. Helped with everything including my handicapped mother. Restaurant was delicious and service again incredible.
Review 32:Don't like blankets on the bed, bed lamp was were my head should go on the head board very silly bumped my head very narrow staircase for older people not easy to manage and with heavy bags not at all
Review 33:Location
Review 34:Value for money, comfortable basically furnished , spacious room, with a separate toilet to bathroom. Large comfortable bed. Good wifi, basic complimentary toiletries provided. Good location for chateaux and restaurants. Staff were friendly, accommodating, spoke good English. Restaurant meal was excellent and well priced, accompanied with excellent service. Did not eat breakfast. Public Parking close by, but make note of the restricted times for the market.
Review 35:We loved being directly across the street from the palace, within walking distance to a variety of restaurants and shops. Large family room with extra pillows and access to wifi.
Review 36:Restaurant not open on Monday evening (Sunday evening and Wednesday lunchtime) so were forced to look elsewhere.
Review 37:The central position just off the town square. Comfortable room with Wi-Fi access
Review 38:Room was old, dull and gloomy as well as cold. The heater was fixed at max, but still low. Bed too small for 2 people, no extra pillow nor blanket. Breakfast at restaurant was too boring: everything was packaged stuff. No egg was provided even though they have a proper kitchen. No love was given.
Review 39:Staff very friendly.
Review 40:As it is an older building, the hallways are narrow and curved and various stairs and individual steps to take and there are no elevators as far as we know. We didn't mind and enjoyed the more homely feel of this building.
Review 41:The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an older building making it feel more homely as it is certainly not a standard cookie-cutter hotel. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and tidy. The hotel is also in the center of Fontainebleau with the chateau, restaurants, and shops within a few minutes walking distance.
Review 42:The third floor is tough - negotiating narrow stairs and corridors is never easy. It was tiring after a trip from London. What about some pictures and mappings in the rooms and some other areas? The place was a bit gloomy inside.
Review 43:The location is perfect for the visit for the chateau and a near perfect town...highly recommended. The breakfast was fine - though a little pricey at 9.5 euros. Enjoyed the bath and a good deal of space in the room.
Review 44:It was extremely cold, we caught a bad cold, we asked for heaters but the owner did not care about it, so we had to buy heavy clothes to sleep in it. The covers could be clean, the sheets were ok but covers with spots. Just like the carpet.
Review 45:Very nice big room, with a balcony that surrounded it from all the large windows. Perfect location. The daily clean was good.
Review 46:The decor was poor and the hotel needed substantial upgrading. Our bath - room 202 - was hardly useable. Not great value for 85 euro at all.
Review 47:The location was very convenient for the Chateau and the wonderful gardens.
Review 48:No parking and public parking expensive. Old fashioned French hotel with moderate facilities and noise problems.
Review 49:Lovely people.Good food and wine.Excellent location
Review 50:The hotel is outdated. You have to take lots of steps to the room. Staff did not offer to help. They did not have secure storage for luggage, so we had to leave it in the car. The room smells. No AC
Review 51:It's all about the location. Lots of paid parking near by
Review 52:The rooms were spacious with good facilities, staff very helpful and friendly. Very good food, 3 course meal for 19,50€ and a good selection of wines by the bottle or glass. Nice to sit and eat outside. Breakfast very good and close to the Chateau.
Review 53:The sheets made my skin itch. The common areas desperately need updating.
Review 54:The location is right near the chateau and the center of town. Many of the rooms have a view of some of the chateau buildings. The bathroom is decent and clean.
Review 55:No hotel parking (though nearby public parking, €15/day) Some noise from street at night, could not sleep with windows open
Review 56:Friendly staff Good restaurant Good breakfast Good location Large, comfortable room Views across to the chateau
Review 57:The stairs are high and steep to get to the top floor. The carpet of the stairs seems in need for replacement.
Review 58:The hotel is in a lovely location. If you are in the lucky situation to have the corner room in the third floor: that is the best, qua view. Excellent restaurant downstairs. Very friendly and helpful staff. The public parking is convenient.
Review 59:Double bed is on the small side.
Review 60:Very friendly welcome by the personnel. Even helped us with bringing the luggage upstairs since there is no elevator. The room was spacious and also the bathroom was large. A lot of windows in the room which was very nice and a small balcony. We had a family room on the first floor. We found the bed a bit too small for two persons. But if you only stay one or two nights this is not an issue. It is in a busy street but when the windows are closed you do not hear the noise of the traffic that much anymore. The castle of Fontaineblue is across the street and it is also in the middle of the centre so shops and restaurants are very close by. We found the bed small for two persons.
Review 61:The couple who run the hotel and the restaurant downstairs are very nice and helpful. The restaurant has very good food with local meats and fresh ingredients.
Review 62:Our room was quite dark and basic, but for one night it was fine.
Review 63:The location of the hotel was perfect. The meal we had in the restaurant below was fantastic.
Review 64:No lift, but helpful staff carried luggage.
Review 65:The staff at this small hotel were absolutely delightful and could not have been more helpful. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, excellent reading lights. Fabulous location right next to the Chateau. Excellent restaurant.
Review 66:Additional cost for parking as this is at a premium in Fontainebleau. Make sure you have coins available.
Review 67:The hotel is within a stones throw of the chateau, which is the main feature of the town, so it is ideal. The rooms on the street side are rather noisy at night but the location makes up for this. The staff are excellent and very helpful. We had a look elsewhere for a restaurant but as we wanted French cuisine the restaurant at the hotel was ideal. As it was our last night in France the l'ardoise cuisine was fantastic. Really worth a visit.
Review 68:coffee... depending on who served you depended on whether you got proper coffee or filter coffee even though the cost was always the same... small but a little significant :)
Review 69:central location close to bars, shops and places of interest large clean room lovely staff
Review 70:The street is a little noisy late in the evening.
Review 71:The owner and staff are very nice folks. Despite being an older property the hotel is clean, comfortable and has all the amenities of a more expensive hotel.
Review 72:does not have an elevator
Review 73:No elevator
Review 74:Super friendly service personel
Review 75:No electrical outlet in the bathroom. Had to make due with the outlet by the bed.
Review 76:A bit expensive.
Review 77:The location really close to the castle is great. The restaurant inside the hotel was expensive but quite good.
Review 78:Location near the palace
Review 79:The owner manages the hotel and the rooms are clean, newly renovated, and the food is wonderful..........gb
Review 80:Very friendly staff. Perfect location. Comfortable quiet room.
Review 81:Location close to Chateau and shopping. Staff pleasant and helpful, restaurant very good. Room clean and comfortable even if not "fancy".
Review 82:Staff very pleasant. Room and bathroom very clean.Very close to palace stone throw away.
Review 83:Very helpful staff. Good restaurant. OK internet
Review 84:Bed was a bit to small and hard. Very small wardroom. Noise from the busy street

Review 99:Renovations during day - no restaurant, bar, a place to just sit
Review 100:close to town & Chateau
Review 101:The location is perfect! Very friendly staff! Great value for the money!
Review 102:Room is microscopic, NO AIR CONDITION! Very noisy outside. If it's hot outside, it's impossible to sleep in this hotel.
