Reviews for Grand Hôtel Du Tonneau D'Or
Review 1:The Hotel was situated in a central position in the town which enabled us to walk to everything with ease. Our room was very spacious and the bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in! We were slightly disappoined that we were not given a room with a view!
Review 2:Beautiful hotel where the staff were professional, multilingual, friendly, and very helpful. The location was perfect for enjoying the sights and restaurants of Belfort. Hotel parking and location to main roads was very convenient.
Review 3:Hotel parking is quite small. If you are late you likely miss the spot and will need to go rounds to find public free or vallet. Only one internet connection per room supported. The hotel would need some renovation.
Review 4:This is an OK hotel although I would not rate it as a 4-star property. Location is perfect, rooms are quite basic but clean and the internet connection is good too.
Review 5:No parking garage, but we found a payed parking spot right in front of the hotel.
Review 6:Great location, really nice rooms, friendly staff, great experience overall.
Review 7:Double bed was smaller than typical, and we're not as slender as we were when we first got married! Breakfast options were just okay, compared to others in similar priced hotels. Parking area was small. Room was well decorated, but not the toilet area (dingy). Air conditioner did not work.
Review 8:Nice quiet hotel, with a nice view of the fort. Great location close to fort, old town restaurants, market, river, near busline. Old style building, but with modern amenities.
Review 9:only minor point was the décor in the room was a bit drab.. everything was a dull shade of grey.
Review 10:Central location. Clean, comfortable modern room. Lovely foyer and staircase. Helpful staff.
Review 11:- Bill was wrong (imagine: we paid too much) - room not cleaned - refrigerator out of order There also was a Fire alarm in the middle of the night due to technical malfunctioning. Everybody was there: firefighters, police, ...
Review 12:Our room was a little tight on space this didn't matter so much as we were only there for one night.
Review 13:The hotel's location is excellent, right in the centre of the old town. Our room was clean and furnished in a modern style. The brasserie serves nice food with a pavement area and a pleasant dining room.
Review 14:There should be at least one English News channel on TV. Breakfast could be enriched with Eggs and bacon, but that is a personal preference and definitely not french
Review 15:The staff were particularly attentive and friendly. Room spacious and well appointed. Tea and coffee in room as well as an apple - delicious.
Review 16:The hotel still had old school charm and the staff were very helpfull. We were well positioned to visit the fort, the old town and also walking distance to the new town The town was a very pleasant surprise and the hotel was excellent.
Review 17:Zero wifi connectivity and bed could be better. Two in the room but only 1 coffee. Just a bit la la but for a special price acceptable
Review 18:Ambiance and location was great
Review 19:Being in the center of town does have a down side. Noisy revelers kept us awake and the hotel had a wedding reception that was also very loud especially when people were leaving in the early hours.
Review 20:The location was very good for accessing the local historical sites, restaurants and cafes. Room was good, comfortable bed and amenities. The old style charm was very pleasant - lovely high ornate ceilings and balconies.
Review 21:There was only one towel my wife found when she stepped out of the shower!!! There were two lights which did not work, either bad bulbs or an electrical fault. These things should be checked by the cleaning staff
Review 22:The room was spacious and luxurious, the bed fantastic.
Review 23:Reneovation of the Hotel in the 90ies.
Review 24:Based in a wonderful old Grand Hotel.
Review 25:Parking can be difficult
Review 26:Comfortable room, friendly, helpful staff.
Review 27:the restaurant was sery good , but the wine I had was realy bad. Nothing wrong , just bad.
Review 28:Excellent location and hotel was top notch. Friendly staff.
Review 29:Lobby reeks of cigarettes, feels disused and entire hotel feels musty.
Review 30:The room the building the staff one girl the day I left particularly helpful.
Review 31:Gorgeously retro. Like reading a short story.
Review 32:Good central location. Quite upmarket for me but I managed to get a 50% discount.
Review 33:Room a bit small for 3 people
Review 34:This is a very grand building
Review 35:Comfortable bed, room with a view (Belfort Lion), free wifi, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 36:There are no adequate sockets. The room is not well insulated against cold weather.
Review 37:small room (my room single) nothing to eat after 9pm !
Review 38:nice building. center of Belford. nice impression over all very good breakfast
Review 39:bit old.
Review 40:French Staff-speaks a little english :)
Review 41:The hotel is not very modern and in some way should be renovated.
Review 42:Central location.
Review 43:Classic hotel in the old town with modern rooms. Close to the fort and may restaurants. Free parking
Review 44:Breakfast not included.
Review 45:Large room with all facilties - very central location. Charming old town with old garrison and interesting history.
Review 46:Old style hotel from the outside and in the lobby but the room was Ibis like style, comfortable but no frills.
Review 47:No Air Conditioner,so when you open the windows it is a bit noisy out side.
Review 48:Location, WiFi, Decoration...
Review 49:Nothing
Review 50:Really good view and cozy room
Review 51:Our room was fairly basic in comparison to the pictures on the website and the fridge didn't seem to work properly
Review 52:The location is excellent and overall the hotel is good value. Late check out until 5pm for 20Euros was really appreciated.
Review 53:the room was tired and it looked out over a roof/heating vent/ and tiny outdoor space giving no light, and was overlooked by other rooms straight into our room. It reminded me more of a hostel room.
Review 54:the room was clean, and the linen fresh.
Review 55:The hotel is right in the middle of the old part of town near to the Lion of Belfort Statue . Plenty of bars and restaurants round a pretty square . Good secure parking for motorcycles . Very grand entrance and foyer .
Review 56:Second of May, temperatures of ten degrees and they had turned of the central heating! Lucky we insisted on a portable heater to be brought up to our room. Breakfast is nothing to write home about.
Review 57:Beautiful old grand hotel within walking distance of everything Belfort has to offer. We've stayed at the Tonneau d'Or twice and this will not have been the last time!
Review 58:Honestly this could be one of the greatest hotels but unfortunately it clearly lacks personnel. These creates problems as current staff is assigned to many unrelated tasks.
Review 59:Location is great, close both to old town and new town. Buildind (especially reception) is gorgeous. Wi-fi was fast.
Review 60:The breakfast was not good. There was not a lot of selection/variety and the quality of the products was average. Definitively Not worth the 13€ per person. I would not recommend it.
Review 61:Nice location, friendly personnel/receptionists, and comfortable rooms
Review 62:Nothing for me except creaky floor panel at 2nd floor.
Review 63:Location near from central, enough parking place near from Hotel, Acceptable diinner places were near Hotel, I think it's recommendable for my colleagues on business trip.
Review 64:Little information when we checken in because the staff didn't wanted to speak english. Much better when I checken out.
Review 65:Nice Roms and location was great.
Review 66:Thankfully the weather was not too hot as our rooms was not airconditioned ... However there was a fan ... Worked quiet well.
Review 67:Staff very friendly, spoke English... Beautiful township, near to all tourist venues, parking was not a problem... Overall a great stay, hotel is definitely grand.
Review 68:Bed not quite wide enough
Review 69:Beautiful Belle Epoque hotel, magnificent staircase, well-equipped room on third floor, air conditioned, friendly staff, close to old town and citadel, we will stay at this hotel again
Review 70:The decor, a mix between grandiose old paintings and mirrors and cheap furniture.
Review 71:The staff was very nice, the location central and the room clean, which is all I'm asking for on such a short stay.
Review 72:A bit run down, could have more fullt renovated the spectacular lobbyand stairs area of the hotel. The room was fully renovated.
Review 73:Wonderful example of Art Nouveau architecture.
Review 74:rien du tout
Review 75:the building, the friendly, helpful desk staff, the Palace-like hall and staircase, the well-furnished (small) room, the comfortable bed (too narrow for two chunky people), the separate bath and toilet
Review 76:Difficult to approach due to road closures and works in town, unable totrust gps however it was worth the effort.
Review 77:Very comfortable rooms with friendly staff.
Review 78:Parking at this hotal is an issue as you would expect in a city centre hotel there are few spaces in an inner court yard which if you were not familiar with the city and its one way systems you would struggle to find. The carpets, fixtures, fittings and general decoration in the public areas is well over due replacement / redecoration, especially as the reception area is one of the most stunning we have seen but is looking very tired. The bed in our room was not the best it was a standard double and not of a good quality.
Review 79:We have stayed at this hotel before, and we were glad to have the same friendly welcome. Our room was a reasonable size and appeared to have been recently redecorated very tastefully, and furnished appropriately. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The room was warm and quiet as we were at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park so no street noise. Reception staff offered assistance in finding our way round town.
Review 80:The rooms are very basic. There was not a parking spot available for our car, but as we were there for just one night , it was not a problem.
Review 81:The hotel architecture has a lot of character and charm. Good location for the Antique Market held the 1st Sunday of every month. Rooms are clean...and priced well.
Review 82:A room (outside central Paris etc.) with this price-tag should have somewhere to sit for two persons. Here it was just one chair. Not place for more. On the bed there was a blanket and a sheet that kept going different ways. Pillow awful (hard, high and non-ventilating syntethic. Bring your own). Avoid all rooms that are similar to nr.15. If you can hit their 30% lower week-end prices, and find one of their better rooms, Tonneau could be an ok choice. As often in France the breakfast is overpriced,13€. Looked like an 8€ meal. Didn´t try it.
Review 83:Close to "Old Town". Spacy and elegant lobby. Free parking.
Review 84:good location, nice staff
Review 85:Breakfast room was small for the number of Guests.
Review 86:Good location & large room with Chateau view
Review 87:parking space is narrow and limited spots only
Review 88:Nice room (3 person room), clean, good location close to main sights (fortress)
Review 89:Very stylish, Belle Époque interior. Spacious rooms decorated with taste.Central location.
Review 90:There was a terrible odor on the second-floor landing.
Review 91:The hotel is well located, right in the middle of town.
Review 92:Modern, comfortable room
Review 93:Excellent place to stay overnight and enjoy the city centre
Review 94:wifi does not work.
Review 95:The hall of the hotel is very smart. Good value.
Review 96:wifi

Review 98:no restaurant, no gym
Review 99:Location, staff
Review 100:Great location and fantastic value. A beautiful hotel in an interesting very friendly welcoming town.
Review 101:no food and drinks
Review 102:economy twin room has less atmosphere, gives a "cold feeling"
Review 103:Superb. Fab large room very contemporary. In the centre and free parking on site
Review 104:Constant noise from A/C unit(s) in courtyard.
Review 105:Good sized room, relatively quiet facing street....as opposed to courtyard. Very helpful staff.
Review 106:It is NOT 4* as presented on www.booking.com. Old furniture, uncomfortable bed., poor breakfast.
Review 107:Good location, free parking
Review 108:Double bed lower in the middle, so it pushes us towards each other.
Review 109:Beautiful entrance hall, friendly staff, spacious room, nice bathroom.
Review 110:our room was amazing and the window opened to a view of the Citadel. brilliant choice. great location.
