Reviews for Citotel Hôtel du Musée-Gare
Review 1:Room decor was jaded, not as clean as it should have been, dirty marks on the walls and the bathroom was a bit smelly.
Review 2:Gorgeous historical building, a lovely relaxed ambiance in the library, and a beautifully presented dining room for breakfast. The staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable .
Review 3:Totally my fault. I messed up & had a 10 Euro croissant both days of my stay. Woops, my fault.
Review 4:Great location, free/ easy parking, lovely staff.
Review 5:Very poor bathroom with cracked tiles & mould on the walls. Bath looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while with hairs by the plug hole. It was difficult to get in & out of the bath. Light in the wc didn't work. I was given a user name & password for the WiFi but it didn't work either.
Review 6:Hotel had bags of charm & character. Friendly receptionist. Bedroom was very clean & the bed was comfortable. Old fashioned decor & furnishings. It was quiet outside at night.
Review 7:The only negative was that there were no tea/coffee making facilities available in the room.
Review 8:The hotel itself was in a good location for our trip as we were travelling into Switzerland and Italy the following day. The staff were very friendly even though we arrived quite late, they went to the lengths of re-arranging the car park so we could fit our loaded car in. The room was both large and immaculately clean.
Review 9:Room needed updating. The bathroom door was practically clear so don't be shy when traveling with others!
Review 10:The location was great and free secure parking.
Review 11:We had one of the cheepest rooms. It was difficult to ventilate the bathroom.
Review 12:The staff was really nice and helpful Free parking The atmosphere of the hotel and the old building was much nicer than standardised hotel chains
Review 13:The building oozes olde-world charm, the breakfast was great, the coffee nice , rooms spacious, but above all I found the manager to be a kind of useful information!.....great value for money and near to all the transport links......oh!....and the WIFI actually worked well!!
Review 14:OK no problem. Neighborhood looked a little sketchy when we arrived after dark. A little tricky to get there in the dark with all of the construction going on. Not much you can do about that.
Review 15:Location, parking, value. Desk people very helpfull
Review 16:The bathroom (in room 2) smelt very strongly of fungus . There didn't appear to be any ventilation. Wouldn't stay here again for that reason.
Review 17:The staff were friendly. Room was spacious and wi-fi was good. Breakfast was quite nice.
Review 18:A little tired in terms of furnishings but this didn't bother us
Review 19:Extremely handy location easy walk to restaurants and very close to Schlumpf Museum. Nicest Croissants for breakfast
Review 20:When I ask for late check out as my car was at the garage for some repairs the owners were not prepared to let me have the room for one more hour even when I had a lot of baggages that I had to move to their lounge!
Review 21:Recommendations for local food by the owner
Review 22:Having stayed here with friends for two nights in rooms 33 and 34 I can honestly say I have stayed in better hostels than this hotel. To say I had to pay 91 Euros per night for a bed with no head board only two pillows with a clothes rack that resembled a car bike rack fastened to the wall to hang clothes on.An industrial type of formica table pushed in the corner with a plastic chair and that was just the bedroom. The bathroom was horrendous whilst it was clean well presented there was no room at all to swing a cat around. When you sat on the toilet your knees were touching the wall opposite how a tall person would manage I couldn't guess. You had to pass between the toilet and the wall and take a huge step up into shower cubicle area without any hand rails. The gap to get through into the cubicle was very small I am sure some slightly overweight people would not get through, the shower however was very good, getting out again wasn't. Certainly not a facility for elderly, tall. overweight or disabled people. Having viewed the numerous photos on websites I can assure you that the rooms we stayed in, are not featured, and bare no resemblance to the other rooms portrayed. There is no air conditioning or fan in the rooms either despite the heat. Our friends comments about this hotel were far more damming than mine. We had stayed in three different hotels that were excellent this was not acceptable for the price. There is no lift or an offer to carry luggage up the stairs. The breakfast is also a rip off at 9.50 euros
Review 23:Free car parking and the girl on reception when we first arrived then never saw again.
Review 24:Bathroom was a bit small and cramped. Did not like the step up into and out of the shower as there were no handrails for support. No elevators to the upper floors. After a long trip, no tea and coffee making facilities in room.
Review 25:Close to the centre of activity. 5 to 10 minutes max. walking time to Central station, and tram stop. Staff very friendly and very helpful, plus a wealth of information. The rooms were very clean, neat and tidy. Good internet coverage in the rooms. The room that I had was a very quiet room no street noise, but noisy neighbours in adjoining rooms can make a difference.
Review 26:The hotel felt more like hostes, becasue of lack of proper quilt and blanket covered with sheet instead, cold floors and absolutely the smallest bathroom I've ever been to in the hotel, (to the extend that from the shower you have to jump over the toilet...). Although it supposed to be in the centre of twon, there was nothing around to go for a drink by the end of the day.
Review 27:Convinient location if you drive from Calais to Italy and need a night rest. Friendly and helpful staff, free parking on the hotel premises. Clean. Overall you get quiet and decent place to spend a night during long drive.
Review 28:very dirty bathroom/toilet - unbelievable!, tiles in bathroom missing on the floor, could not walk barefeet, sink was blocked, shower and toilet right next to eachother and no place to stand. the door did not close from the bathroon / toilet. dirty windows and blinds/shutters, very small bathroom, cannot even call it a bathroom, it was for 3 adults 2.5m2, dusty curtains, etc.
Review 29:location
Review 30:Very outdated, need renovation. Rooms where poorly furnished (IKEA)
Review 31:Price not too bad if you need a clean bed for one night. Breakfast was good and fresh, location and parking good. Friendly staff speaks good English.
Review 32:Nothing major; maybe the place needs a bit of tlc
Review 33:Classic building, superb on site parking, town centre yet quiet with easy approach roads, helpful staff.
Review 34:It was all good
Review 35:Friendly staff, good breakfast, near to historical centre and railway station. We had a fantastic stay. Great value for money and highly recommended.
Review 36:The room could have used a bit of maintenance and the exterior paintwork of the building could also use some attention.
Review 37:A warm welcome on arrival The property is idiosyncratic - a fun alternative to chain hotels. Public areas of the hotel were very nice Close to the station with links to Basel and Strasbourg.
Review 38:no
Review 39:the peoples
Review 40:Cramped bathroom and the rooms were rather stark.
Review 41:Friendly staff, a great location, parking on site and nice lounging area for visitors.
Review 42:No restaurant
Review 43:Secure covered parking

Review 51:Staff, location and ease of parking
Review 52:Great location to tram and rail facilities
Review 53:it has seen better days
Review 54:well located for the centre of town
Review 55:Restricted range of Television channels/.
Review 56:Friendliness. Clen and open at all hours. Not expensive.
Review 57:Prefer a smoking room
Review 58:12pm check-out... I like that :)
Review 59:The friendly staff and the feel of the hotel in general
Review 60:Breakfast below value but otherwise a really good hotel.
Review 61:Location to train and shops. Clean and friendly. Relatively well priced and quiet.
Review 62:this place was great, loved the building and decor. happy to secure our bikes
Review 63:Felt a bit depressing, needs updating,
Review 64:Location, secure parking,
Review 65:Very dark room, in need of total restoration, bathroom door didn't close properly. dreadful hotel, yet staff very friendly.
Review 66:Lovely old building and really friendly staff.
Review 67:Wifi did not work in room 34
Review 68:Very clean Polite staff
Review 69:It was a no fuss, all you need clean and simple hotel. We went as a family with 2 children, and the room was spacious enough for all 4 of us to be able to move around. The staff were very professional and attentive to our needs. We actually booked up a second night, as the location was good for us near the main train station and it was in a backstreet so there was no heavy trafic or noise. For anyone like myself who is sound sensative or hates airconditioning units and sounds, I can confirm tha this hotel is set in an old fashioned building which means there are no sounds or airconditioning units, the windows open for air. Wifi, ok speeds. Not the fastest and not the slowest. I was able to download a TV show from BBC iPlayer which was 350mb in about 8 minutes. And the wifi was free. All in all, defiantly worth the price at the time for a basic and comfortable place to stay.
Review 70:The area near the town center is almost deserted by 20:00 pm. You can't help feeling you are visiting a ghost town and it's ashame because Mulhouse has wonderful attractions such as the zoological garden, the textile museum, the automobile museums etc.
Review 71:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great for easy access to Colmar, Belfort and other towns and villages.
Review 72:The town was rather dead, but that's hardly the hotel's fault!
Review 73:Very helpful staff, who were willing to help us 'beyond the call of duty', such as by telephoning another hotel we were due to be staying at the next day. The bedroom and bathroom were impressively spacious for the price, and both rooms were pleasantly clean.
Review 74:Re-entering the password each and every time to connect to the free wifi is extremely annoying. Be sure to hang on to the user-id/password ticket that they give you as you will need it every single time you disconnect your session and reconnect again. Shower does not have a shower curtain, so not easy to take a shower without the water splashing outside of the bathtub.
Review 75:Proximity to the city centre is great. Lots of restaurants close by. Clean and comfortable.
Review 76:A bit of renovation would make this hotel really wonderful.
Review 77:Very nice and spacious room. The hotel is located in a charming historical building. Of course, the equipment is not brand new but everything functioned perfectly. The staff was really friendly too. I liked it.
Review 78:Clean comfortable room, 3 blocks from the train station, handy to downtown Mulhouse, which has a pleasant pedestrian core. Staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast good. Very enjoyable!
Review 79:Nothing really to complain about but the WiFi could have been better reception wise.
Review 80:Very helpful and friendly staff. Great location. Very close to the station and tram providing 20 min access to Cite de l'Automobile. An easy walk to many restaurants. The hotel had a marvellous ambince with beautifully furnishes and decorated main rooms. A very friendly cat gave a very homely atmosphere. l
Review 81:I found some of the items on offer for breakfast too 'cheap-end' (cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts), less choice but better quality in this area would be appreciated e.g. some locally sourced products.
Review 82:The building, the friendly welcome, good rapport amongst the staff, choice of certain items in my room, the bathroom. At breakfast the croissants, breads, coffee and fruit juices were good quality.
Review 83:We were absolutely delighted with the care and concern shown to us in this friendly hotel. Having visited Basel, for the day, we were delighted to have this peaceful oasis to escape to for the night. Staff were truly helpful....couldn't do enough and all with genuine concern. We would like to thank them and recommend them to any other mature couple who may feel that a stop-off here may be a possibility. Highly recommend!
Review 84:The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable. Very short walk to the town centre, where there are loads of restaurants.
Review 85:Absolutely nothing
Review 86:Central location, close to bars & restaurants, private & very secure parking on site, excellent value for money, considerate & very helpful staff made my stay a pleasure.
Review 87:We were a company of four adults and booked a set of two rooms together, each with its own bathroom but sharing a shower. Our room was renovated while the other one was not. I would recommend booking separate rooms instead.
Review 88:Location and price. Also, the staff was very helpful and we were able to park on the hotel's private parking.
Review 89:Accommodation was appalling, by french standards we have experiencedsince for the money. Nothing a bulldozer could not fix . Nothing likethe photographs as for the star rating its incorrect too minus 3 stars. We have not booked anything unseen first since!!!
Review 90:Some fittings in the bathroom were a bit old. Also, the hotel could do with a bar.
Review 91:Spacious and comfortable room, friendly and informative staff, good value for money.
Review 92:The shower /toilet facilities were adequate but perhaps in need of some up grading. A curtain on the shower could also be an advantage.
Review 93:We had a very warm welcome by the receptionist who explained the special ' Museum open Day and free transport' to all of them that day. ' We found the room freshly decorated, clean and very comfortable and quiet. Television reception was excellent. We appreciated the free Wi-fi and secure car parking. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the tables thoughtfully presented with quality place settings in the charming dining room. The hotel was walking distance to the town centre.
Review 94:Elevator would suit better people with young children and lots of baggage but not really an issue for short stays.
Review 95:We have booked this hotel last minute traveling with young baby. Hotel staff did excellent job explaining us about facilities in the area. As per booking request our room was quiet and comfortable for 2 persons and baby. Old style building but well kept with original and relaxing atmosphere. Mr Gerard deserves extra thank you for his professionalism and customer focus.
Review 96:We stayed there for the night during our car journey to italy. I wasinfluenced by the general comment on booking.com and I would say I wasmisled: I booked a superior double room and -it was a small oldish room-with a small double bed (and that was even the reason I paid more: alarger bed, as it was stated). -Incredibly hard mattress -televisionnext to the pillow instead of in front of the bed -liters of perfume inthe hall, common stairs and room In fact, it was really bad! TheBathroom with new tap and shower but old pipes, slightly moulded wallsand sanitary. Also we smelled urine there. Really uninviting.Surprisingly enough as we saw that trip advisor was recommending it (butperhaps we got an old room? We even double checked that whether it was asuperior double room and the night receptionist confirmed it was...).I'm not sure anymore about the scores on the hotels on my favouritehotel website!
Review 97:Presence of private parking
Review 98:The floorboards were a bit sweaky but I had read reviews so had expected that.
Review 99:The staff were extremely helpful and very willing to give assistance with travel arrangements. The Restaurant/Breakfast room was absolultely charming.
Review 100:Quaint shower with no curtain but it worked well No elevator. Uneven floor in bedroom
Review 101:Arrived early staff not only kept luggage but brought it to the room. Very easy access to and from train station.
Review 102:In a world of increaing uniformity, it is a pleaure to find an individualistic hotel that keeps its traditions. Very helpful hotel receptionist gave full details for all nearby restaurants.
Review 103:We stayed at this hotel whilst travelling through France to Switzerland and onto Italy. Far better than expected and ideal as we could park our motorcycle in their garage area. Staff very helpful and friendly-location perhaps a little daunting as it is very close to the centre of Mullhouse but was very straightforward to get to in the end.
Review 104:No air-con.
Review 105:As we were not looking for a budget friendly hotel it was not what we were expecting. must have got my wires crossed when booking - one of 5 hotels we stayed in during a trip around France and Switzerland. Mulhouse is not a pretty place but the car museum is incredible and well worth a trip.
Review 106:We booked one night there on our way from Italy to the Netherlands. The hotel is old, wear out and clientunfriendly. We stayed in a familyroom. The room hasn't renovated since the 70s. Full of stains. Wouldn't recommend the hotel to anybody.
Review 107:the bed was not fixed to anything and everytime we moved, the bed moved away from the wall. there was a strong smell of air freshner which once it had calmed down revealed a strong smell of damp. our room was right next to the entrance of the hotel and was a little noisy. the net curtain was too short for the window making the room less private then we would have liked.
Review 108:the hotel was central to some good restaurants. the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was fine
Review 109:The walls are a bit "thin" so "sounds" can be heard from the neighbours! It was a very old building and not really suitable for disabled guestsbut the patron did explain he was doing something about this. There are3 steps up from the car parking area and then a further 5 steps upinside the hotel to the lobby. Each time we came in or out the staffwere always there to assist cheerfully and without asking.
Review 110:Patron and staff very friendly and accommodating. Helped us lots withour French! We had booked a disabled room for my 91 yr old mother but onarrival we found the shower and toilet in her room had no wall bars forassistance. The patron immediately offerred to get a workman in thefollowing day to fix bars on the wall for her! The hotel is 5 mins walkfrom the centre of Mulhouse and so if you want to visit the city you canleave your car at the hotel! Breakfast is usual "French" with ham, rolls, yougurt, croissant, juices and coffee and tea. Two nice "quiet"areas where you can have coffee or read books inside the hotel.
Review 111:There were only French TV channels on the TV. Only one bedside table for a double room.
Review 112:Traditional French hotel. Wonderful attentive staff. Great for a 2 night stay. Breakfast room looks recently decorated. Close by some excellent restaurants and the old town.
Review 113:Open shower cubicle makes it difficult to shower without getting watereverywhere.
Review 114:Very convenient for the ststion Very convenient for access to centreWarm, helpful and friendly reception Good atmosphere
Review 115:The rooms were a little dated (but clean and spacious, not too much to complain about, especially when you consider the price.
Review 116:Very friendly staff. Very spacious rooms, and nice atmosphere all in all. Nice location in Mulhouse, with easy access to the town centre
Review 117:Lack of air conditioning (we were there on very hot summer days).
Review 118:Very nice personal Good parking Nice atmosphere
Review 119:Bathroom in very bad condition, hard madrasses. The hotel need desperately a makeover
Review 120:Breakfast, authentic historic hotel, quiet.
Review 121:old but fair hotel
Review 122:Price, situation and night staff
Review 123:Nothing
Review 124:Location was very good for the town. Quiet and easy to get to
Review 125:traditional french feel
