Reviews for Hôtel de l'Europe

Review 1:The man in the reception wasn't nice with us , also they didn't give us the WIFI because we made the reservetion from Booking so we should buy 7 € !!

Review 2:Good location

Review 3:What a great hotel! We felt so welcome - even before we arrived the confirmation email was personal and welcoming. Our accomodation was excellent - above and beyond what we had reserved and most comfortable. The owner was so welcoming - providing us with a local map and information about what was on in the evening. Lovely breakfast. We had a really memorable stay in Rouen and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a good place to stay in the city.

Review 4:V friendly owner. He helped me plan the bedrooms by email to suit our 5 children in the best way prior to the trip. Family room was a decent size and sofa bed fitted our 5 year old twins beautifully. Décor of rooms was good. So close to the cathedral and restaurants. Managed to park outside on the street. If there had been a kettle to make a cup of tea in the room it would have been perfect.

Review 5:The price for 3 people on billing was jacked up when we arrived which was very disappointing - at 7.30-8pm you don't have many other options. Tea making facilities in a good, city centre hotel would also have been nice.

Review 6:The staff were welcoming when we arrived and the room, while small, had most things you would look for. The double bed was very comfortable and the sofa bed for our teenager was comfy but on a slight slope.

Review 7:It was roasting hot early August and the absence of aircon made for a pretty toasty room, cold flannels weren't perfect.

Review 8:Friendly, English speaking staff, clean, comfortable rooms, conveniently located in the heart of the city with parking very close by.

Review 9:Mr. Piat (reception) said because we booked a room through Booking.com instead directly with the hotel (????) he can't provide all the conditions that we need. So we got a room at first floor, close to elevator, noisy, small and hot instead our requests were - higher floor, not close to elevator, quiet, AC. Even earplugs did not help because the street is noisy all the time and the windows open because there is no air conditioning This was the most uncomfortable night during our two week trip to France. Unwillingness hotel employee to help us - it is a very inhospitable and rude. Would not advise this hotel to anyone despite its good location. Hotel is very fair, old, room is small, bathroom needs to improve so nothing a special and my opinion is overprice.

Review 10:Good location close to central streets, walking distance to all you have to see. Wonderful evening laser show on Rouen's Cathedral. Nice restaurants around.

Review 11:Room was slightly warm for us, with not much air coming in from the open window with the curtains closed. But didn't stop us all having a good night's sleep.

Review 12:A brilliantly warm welcome at reception - if only all hotels were like this! Travelling with a 5 and 8 year old, family room (king sized bed and sofa bed which the girls were happy to share) was ideal for us. Location was perfect for an easy walk around the highlights of Rouen after a long day in the car, then a stroll to the market after breakfast in the morning. Would love to spend a couple of nights here again to really explore the city.

Review 13:The staff welcome was poor and the rooms were poky. Only one towel was provided for two people in the room - and that was threadbare. Arriving at 8pm there was no-one on reception to welcome us although we had prior booked and indicated our early evening arrival.

Review 14:Breakfast was excellent and the location was ideal for access to the heart of Rouen and its cathedral. The hotel was clean, although on the edge of being run down.

Review 15:Parking though convenient was expensive Wifi charge of 7 euro per 24 hrsthough old info in room stated it was free and gave the codes so we usedit without charge! No hot water day 2 - no apology or reduction forbroken boiler Given smoking room in spite of requesting non smoking room

Review 16:Location

Review 17:By using booking.com there is an additional 7 euro charge to use wifi;as one of my filter criteria was wifi (which, as it is ubiquitous, Iassumed is free wifi) I was disappointed to have to pay extra. Bookdirect=no charge. A strange and disappointing policy. My other searchfilter was parking, which simply didn't exist. There is an ncp roundthe corner, but I actually parked on the street. Thesemisrepresentations meant I stayed in a place unsuitable for my needs.Room was very small, breakfast seemed expensive - use the patisserieover the road.

Review 18:Location was good, near the main shopping/historic part of the city.

Review 19:Paid for car park through hotel, but it would not work. Hotel receptionist was not interested and of no help at all. Had to pay full price in car park machine

Review 20:Smallest bathroom I've ever seen. I had to squeeze into the shower sideways touching front and back

Review 21:Fantastic Location very close to main square and restaurants. Great staff, really helpful and friendly people. Easy car parking in a very busy area

Review 22:-No airco in the room, we had to open a window, also because we were 4 in a very small room -very small family room -we payed the same amount (13euros/breakfast) for the breakfast of the children ( 2 and 5 years old!) -old dusty carpet in the room

Review 23:Having clearly done all the searching for the conditions I required - including paying the tariff for an extra bed - which turned out to be simply a ropey sofa bed - I had to buy a further room to accommodate the family. The tag was that you could never get a family room in France. This is clearly utter nonsense and we have booked the same many times previously. Parking. Notice in room - no food or drink. Please use the bar. The Hotel had no catering facilities in the event, other than breakfast which was quite average. Beautiful centre spot, but you pay the price for access.

Review 24:Location.

Review 25:As is typical of France, there was no air conditioning in the room, and it was one of the hottest days of the year. With a single window, and no moving air, it was a warm night.

Review 26:Our host was friendly and warm. The breakfast buffet, although all cold dishes, was one of the most generous Continental breakfasts I have seen in France or the U.S., and it was all delicious. The fold out couch was made and ready for our two kids.

Review 27:The receptionist is very attentive and willing to answer all the inquiries. after checking out we still went back to the Hotel to relax in their cafe to pass the time. Location wise, this is a perfect Hotel.

Review 28:Hotel building is in a horrible looking tower block with correspondingviews. Parking rate is a con (works out 1 euro cheaper than the localhigh cost parking garage) as is charging for wifi at 7 euros for onenight, and a lack of aircon or any useful ventilation in one of theirmost expensive rooms is not acceptable!

Review 29:Good location, good cleanliness with interesting rooms (we stayed in thecomic strip room).

Review 30:Welcoming, friendly, English speaking staff Central location with easy underground parking very short walk from hotel Quality of breakfast

Review 31:The breakfast was quite basic.

Review 32:location and car parking Bars shops and restaurants are close by.

Review 33:Very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 34:The room needed to be redecorated.

Review 35:Great location and pleasant, friendly staff.

Review 36:The staff was very courteous, attentive, and helpful. The hotel was very clean and centrally located to all the sites I wanted to see.

Review 37:Can be noisy during the night .

Review 38:The medieval buildings. The restaurants. That ambience. The hotel was ideally situated.

Review 39:wish have tripe singles and one double beds for 5 people in one room

Review 40:I need elevators

Review 41:Very small room, but adequate. Hot, no air con and noisy with windows open.

Review 42:Good location, very helpful staff and good breakfast.

Review 43:Breakfast slightly overpriced

Review 44:Very friendly welcome would definitely return.

Review 45:Breakfast expensive for family of four, especially as kids don't eat much. €13/head

Review 46:Location Staff Good breakfast Good room & bathroom

Review 47:At eur144 for a night, this was very poor value for money. Comparablehotels in Rouen are available at less than half this price.

Review 48:Great location

Review 49:Terrible pillows Room facing street was very noisy

Review 50:Location Breakfast Easy parking

Review 51:Small rooms w not many amenities Could hear everything outside of room

Review 52:Small room, poor layout. Very hot.

Review 53:Creepy night manager checked us in. Dudes in the bar ogled my 21 year old daughter to the point we didn't feel safe. Really. Hotel looks really run down from the outside and the neighborhood looks questionable. I'll never go back

Review 54:The location wasn't bad. It was a short cab ride from the train staion. It's an easy walk to the cathedral and town

Review 55:Some basic extras are not available in the room (iron, hairdryer). The quality of the furnishings could be better for the price e.g. towels were tired looking).

Review 56:The location and staff were excellent. It was no bother that we were very delayed and didn't arrive until 5am the morning after our scheduled check in.

Review 57:It was a little pricier than we were hoping to pay, but with the breakfast and location, it was worth it!

Review 58:The staff went out of there way to show us the sites to see on a map and to let us know a few things about the city. It was in a prime location, just outside of the town square and was very comfortable and nice.

Review 59:Room was very tiny, bed had tough mattress, pillows had terrible smell, would be nice to change them once in awhile. Bathroom outside wall was basically next to the bed. No space to get to bed. This hotel is not recommended.

Review 60:location

Review 61:Considering the price, a lot could be improved. The rooms are small, the bathroom, old and the water does not drain well. A minute window to a patio with barely anysunlight.

Review 62:The location is great

Review 63:The funky rooms shown on this site are let at a €30 premium and we did not recall this. Décor in our rooms was a bit tired and didn't match what we had seen on the site. No tea/coffee making facility.

Review 64:Friendly manager, realised that there had been a mistake as we were a party of four not three, and he immediately offered us two rooms for the same price. The room would have been far too small otherwise, and also would have been very expensive. The rooms and showers were spotlessly clean. There is a lift. Location is excellent with on-street parking outside, or a secure car park 100m away. My car was perfectly OK parked on the street.

Review 65:The breakfast was a little spartan and the restaurant was not open during our stay

Review 66:This hotel is in a superb position close to the old city centre. Although we we apprehensive about having to use the off-site public parking, it turns out that this is particularly convenient and only about 75m from the hotel.

Review 67:This hotel has no air conditioning and the quadruple/family room is small. There is also no dedicated parking. Limited value here for a family just passing through for an overnight stay.

Review 68:Off beat rooms. My son stayed in the rock and roll room which certainly was a conversation piece.

Review 69:Central location in Rouen. Friendly helpful staff. Bed was comfortable

Review 70:Nothing.

Review 71:Location near everything, smart design all around, large and luxurious bathroom, excellent breakfast, good rebate on fee for nearby parking station.

Review 72:The only negative for me was that the shower (which was amazing was too much for the drainage and I had to be careful not to flood the bathroom.

Review 73:I stayed in the Punk style room on the 3rd floor. It was a really fun experience. and very comfortable!

Review 74:I ordered a family room for 2 adults and my 2 children. I booked via a third party agent and the hotel could not accommodate the request but quickly offered us 2 double rooms for the same price. They were really great and we appreciated the efforts to accommodate us.

Review 75:The lift was tiny - it wouldn't fit our pushchair in, and because the parking was a couple of minutes away that was a bit of a pest. The parking cost around 10 euros - the hotel saved us like 1.70!

Review 76:The staff were very friendly. They gave my friend a free cup of warm milk for their toddler, and a jug of hot water to warm a bottle for our baby. The cot was all made up, and the room was a great size. The location was brilliant - right in the middle of town. Breakfast was brilliant, and the lady serving us was so lovely.

Review 77:The accoustics- voices in other rooms and hall can be heard verydistinctly.

Review 78:Very nice hotel staff, delicious breakfast. Standard hotel room, no wowfactor but absolutely nothing to complain about. Good value for money.Would stay there again and recommend to friends.

Review 79:very good location, very clean, good breakfast, nice owner

Review 80:There is nothing specific

Review 81:Interesting hotel with rooms full of surprises

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:Very helpful owners and a beautiful breakfast.

Review 84:Tap fell off the shower and the sink plug did not work.

Review 85:Great location - very near the cathedral and main shopping area. Friendly staff.

Review 86:Parking not on site. The cartoon theme, clever to start, was less funthat we expected.

Review 87:Easy to find. Relatively convenient.

Review 88:Great location and friendly efficient staff, clean and comfortable- would definitely stay again. Rouen is a super party city.

Review 89:Lack of air conditioning system

Review 90:Very friendly & helpful staff

Review 91:parking

Review 92:Location, breakfast, helpful receptionists

Review 97:Very good staff. Free Internet. Clean and warm in the room. Parking is free on weekends.

Review 98:The rooms are small, but that didn't bother me.

Review 99:Great location, comfortable rooms, nice bathroom, spotlessly clean. Very helpful staff.

Review 104:far too expensiv for this comfort

Review 105:good situated

Review 106:Missed not having tea making equipment in the room.

Review 107:Friendly staff. Innovative towel dryer. Thorough cleaning by staffevery day.
