Reviews for Aigle Noir Hôtel

Review 1:Cleaning staff sat on corridor floor outside room when waiting for us to vacate so they could clean room - not necessary and not a good look for a hotel of this quality.

Review 2:Reception staff very friendly and helpful about activities and restaurants. Position ideal for chateau, restaurants and shopping. Excellent room and especially good bathroom.

Review 3:There were no even minor problems with this room and this hotel. Perfect.

Review 4:The room was perfect, overlooking a beautiful carrousel and just across from the Chateau Fontainebleau. It had a double shower-head stall in the bathroom, unlike many French hotels that cling to those old wand-jobs. There was an espresso maker in the room and gratis bottled water. The bed was perfect as were the sitting areas and closet. The lobby and hosts were delightful.

Review 5:We were particularly disappointed at the impersonal manner of the staff. They must have known we were repeat visitors but no effort was made to welcome us back! The room was very disappointing. No bath and more significant no mirror in the bedroom, so difficult to use a hairdryer! Just didn't have that special feel we had noted in our first and to some extent second visit! To be honest not sure that we would go again!

Review 6:This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. The first time we were bowled over by it: location, convenient car parking, friendliness of staff, quality of room, wonderful breakfast. This latest time we would say that it has lost a bit of its sparkle. Still good but not exceptional any longer.

Review 7:We got extremely lucky. We paid for a regular room and they gave us a huge suite ( a whole wing, actually!). The hotel has character and the staff is fabulous. It's right in the main square and a stone's through from the chateau. They give a discount on parking in the underground garage across from the hotel.

Review 8:Nothing really, except rather dated, although functional, bathroom and lighting systems.

Review 9:Loved the location opposite the Chateau, near a good restaurant, and very close to a secure, safe, free-to-guests car park. Charming staff.

Review 10:Brilliant location right opposite the chateau with safe underground parking close by. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are furnished to an exceptionally high standard with cloth wallpaper and matching curtains. There are tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was modern and sparklingly clean. There is a definite feel of luxury.

Review 11:Expensive breakfast Neither French nor English directions for use of expresso machine

Review 12:Staff hospitality Restaurant recommendations and reservations Lovely decor and comfort of the bed Paid parking Very convenient location

Review 13:It would have been nice to have a mirror in the room itself instead of just the bathroom.

Review 14:Amazing location. Underground parking across the street. RIGHT across the street from the Chateau. Leticia at the desk was wonderful and gave us a number of close-by choices for dinner. We chose 'Bistro du Cadran'. With the help of wonderful Nicholas, we had one of the BEST meals of our 2 week trip.

Review 15:The flow of the bath tub drain could have been better.

Review 16:Beautifully decorated and quiet room. Hotel staff members were helpful and courteous. Great location right in the heart of the city. Walking distance to Fontainebleau attractions and fabulous restaurants on Montebello Street. Near Public transportation to Fontainebleau surrounding areas

Review 17:The hotel is located in the very centre of the town and has a very nice authentic atmosphere. There are a number of good places where one can get superb food close by, just 20 meters from the hotel's door.

Review 18:Honor bar. Location. Helpful staff. Fresh breakfast. Free wi-fi. Restaurants close by. Large Bedrooms with chairs and tables. Refrigerator in room. Complimentry Bottled water, coffee and tea in room.

Review 19:Sadly the bathroom let this accommodation down. The toilet roll holder was falling off, the basin taps swung about and the seal around the shower did not seal! BIG shower though!

Review 20:BEAUTIFUL building! BEAUTIFUL room! BEAUTIFULLY peaceful but.... VERY convenient for bustling town!

Review 21:Plastic and disposable cups in the room. Completely out of character with the rest of the hotel offering...

Review 22:Helpful and friendly staff, great location, and comfortable, spacious rooms.

Review 23:Until familiar with the town and the hotel location it was not clear which car park to choose. Also there is no direct link, for access, with the hotel.

Review 24:Excellent location. Once the car park had been linked with the hotel, it was a public car park with special rates for the hotel, it was quite convenient.

Review 25:Excellent location just a few minutes from the castle. Honesty bar serving drinks at a reasonable price. Car park was validated by the hotel and cost added to bill

Review 26:Underground Car park not ideal especially when moving luggage.

Review 27:Breakfast was the best we have ever had in France and one of the best anywhere. Plenty of good Bistros within 50 yards of hotel.

Review 28:The only slight drawback was the rather too steep ramp from the cobbled front courtyard up to the front door.

Review 29:As a paraplegic, I require a good sized bedroom and bathroom with roll in shower. Their rooms were large, well appointed, and the bed was comfy and the correct height for transfers.

Review 30:The staff spoke English and helped with all of our reservations. The honesty bar with the ability to make fresh Nespresso coffee every morning was key. O

Review 31:Breakfast expensive so didn't partake, but found a little pavement cafe nearby that was willing to cook us an omelette. Biggest problem is that it is impossible to park close to the hotel to unload. That said the secure car park is VERY close, but expect to have to move your own luggage.

Review 32:Wonderful location; very central and easy walking distance of good selection of restaurants. Very large room Loved the open terrace and the shop. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful

Review 33:For some might be a bit old fashioned.

Review 34:Very classy hotel on excellent location. Large, spacious rooms. Very professional staff. On a Monday morning we ended up being the among the first visitors to the Chateau. An unique experience having the main ballrooms for yourself.

Review 35:The hotel is just right in the city centre, opposite to chateau Fontainebleau. It is classic, elegant and quiet. We stayed in a suite, which is very comfortable.

Review 36:Great location opposite the palace. We booked a deluxe room and were upgraded to a suite upon check-in which was excellent. Staff were all friendly and helpful. A choice of good restaurants immediately outside the hotel.

Review 37:Nothing in particular

Review 38:Excellent location in town centre opposite gardens to Fontainebleau Palace. Good breakfast with a wide selection of food. Attractive building.

Review 39:There was no bath in the bathroom, although it was easily large enough for one (the weather was very hot when we were there and it would have been great to soak our feet). Two paper cups for coffee/tea and two plastic cups for the bathroom were a bit otu of keeping with the quality of the rest of the hotel.

Review 40:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and their English was perfect, but we tried to converse in French for my sake. Parking was very handy under the square at the front and by paying the ticket at reception we saved a fair bit from the price. Our room (123) didn't have any sort of view (just a roof), but it was quiet, beautifully decorated and comfortable. It was really more of a small suite, with a separate lounge room and a separate toilet and bathroom down a short hall. Having a kettle and small range of teas and coffees was wonderful. 24 hour reception was great as we had to leave early the following morning. The location couldn't have been better, across the road from the palace.

Review 41:Not a complaint - just a warning: it's a bit tricky getting to the front door with your car. The hotel has several restaurants on either side that block access. If you can manage to get the inevitable delivery van to clear the path for you on the west side, more power to you. It's easiest to park underground at the public lot, get a cart for luggage from the hotel, and then retrieve from your car. There is an elevator up from the parking to the street right next to the hotel entrance. Sounds complicated, but actually very easy. Managed all this with my 80-year-old auntie in tow

Review 42:Excellent location across from the entrance to the chateau. Modern public underground parking is barely 100 meters from the hotel entrance. Very elegant and well-appointed rooms. Large bathrooms with plenty of "stuff". Although no restaurant on the premises, many nearby and great recommendations by front-desk staff. Buffet breakfast was varied and always kept refreshed by attentive staff. Staff at front desk were extremely helpful, despite my halting French. All round, an excellent choice if you come to this city.

Review 43:Car parking

Review 44:Rooms are good and spacious , clean , breakfast lovely , handy to town centre and restaurants . Good value for money Staff very attentive and welcoming

Review 45:We didn't like leaving!

Review 46:Wonderful old world atmosphere with every modern convenience! Opposite the Chateau, in the midst of restaurants. And a two minute walk to shops,ATMs and anything else you need. The rooms are extremely comfortable with top quality facilities including an espresso machine and tv in the bathroom. Staff are kind, friendly and incredibly helpful. Breakfast was great! With a lot of choices!

Review 47:Great location only 200m from the Chateau/Bars & restaurants. Service from the staff was excellent. Room very clean and quiet. We were even allowed to check in 2 hours early. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room including a choice of herbal teas.Wonderful white cotton bed linen. Great little courtyard to sit and have a drink outside. Wonderful antique furniture inside.

Review 48:Had only booked for one night so had to leave this real find.

Review 49:Location close to Chateau, with secure underground parking about 50 yards away it cold not be more convenient. Décor of rooms was superb and the staff were welcoming and helpful.

Review 50:I wish we would have been told beforehand about parking in the parking garage across the street from the hotel as the sign for the hotel parking was very small and we missed it twice.

Review 51:Unlike many European hotels , the room was spacious. The staff was very nice as well

Review 52:Room and bathroom were quite large and with all the amenities, including refrigerator and soft drinks. Across from Chateau, right above city parking garage.

Review 53:Breakfast is expensive for eur 18 with what the offering is. Also, thehotel charged breakfast one day that I didn't take it but took itoff the bill when notified. The air conditioning in the room is notgreat, however windows can be opened for air.

Review 54:The location opposite the castle is fantastic for tourists andright in the middle of town for restaurants. It's only 10 minswalk to insead. Room is well appointed, new bathrooms seemed to befitted recently.

Review 55:Although we didn't try it and therefore don't know what exactly it was, the breakfast is rather pricey at €18

Review 56:Excellent location right in the town centre. Special rates at the safe underground parking right across the road. No problem with storing our bikes or with us wheeling them through reception!

Review 57:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was in an excellent position and very comfortable. Breakfast was served in an elegant room and could not have been better!

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:The staff were friendly and helpful from first arrival.to departure. The room was beautifully decorated the bed was to die for. Perfect location and great price and to top it off the breakfast was faultless.

Review 60:There was a very bad smell coming from the vent in the corridor facing the door to our room. We informed the reception. Otherwise, a very nice hotel..

Review 61:Lovely hotel, great location

Review 62:That there was no access to the hotel to drop luggage by car. Underground parking close by, but NONE of the lifts were working!! Lots of very angry people with lots of luggage, including us.

Review 63:Atmosphere, quality of furnishings, location, helpful staff.

Review 64:We didn't eat the breakfast buffet. I prefer not having a buffet.

Review 65:We loved our stay! The room was perfect! The concierge was very helpful and even spoke English. He had great recommendations!!! Excellent location too :)

Review 66:The position of the hotel was excellent. The bedroom was large and had a very good bathroom / shower room. Breakfast was outstanding with a huge selection of hot and cold dishes - even including Chinese spring rolls and noodles as well as sausages, eggs, beans, cold meats, cheeses and fish.

Review 67:No place to park in front of hotel to unload luggage.

Review 68:Beautiful room in front of hotel facing the Chateau with small balcony. Very clean with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was the best and most extensive of any we experienced in 3 weeks traveling around France - well worth the price. Short walk to car park. Kevin at the front desk was very helpful recommending restaurants and things to do. Great two night stay.

Review 69:Final checkout error of only 1.5 euros but it was demanded by ill- informed desk clerk who refused to believe me that it was totally pd online prior to my arrival. Therefore I left cash on counter

Review 70:History and decor RE to Napoleon. Sweet entrance and comforting lobby bar area Helpful Mgr Sunday morn at departure

Review 71:Arrogant reception staff. Minor details: a mini-bar, which is in fact an empty fridge - paper/plastic glasses and mugs are not okay for a 4 star hotel. OBS: DON't book a room with parking included here on booking.com - you'll be tricked.

Review 72:No smoking room.

Review 73:It's very near Fontainbleau Palace. The hotel is neat and clean. The room is nicely decorated with pretty wallpaper and lovely bed.

Review 74:Initially we got a bad unfresh room with holes in the wall and some condense/mushroom spot on the ceiling. The area is not ideal for persons wanting to hike in nature, as you can hear the highway from everywhere in the forest. The city itself is also not pretty, and a weird mix of village/suburb.

Review 75:They switched our room to a very nice one after complaining about the first one. Bathroom was nice.

Review 76:The room was luxurious and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. Some fabulous restaurants such as Bistro 9 nearby. The experience was restorative and restful. An excellent breakfast.

Review 77:-Breakfast could have been bigger portions. We had the usual fruit salad, croissant etc and asked for eggs & bacon too, but two very small rations and what must have been one eggs worth of scrambled egg - but the quality was excellent. This was delivered to our room on time, but at 24eur pp, it was a bit pricy.

Review 78:-Stayed in a deluxe suite - bargain at less than half the actual price (found this cheaper rate on booking.com). Amazing room (Room 111). TVs in the mirrors, superb jacuzzi, complimentary fridge full of drinks, including champagne (part of the booking.com offer). -Honesty bar was well stocked, reasonably priced, andt hey even bring your drinks to the room. -Excellent service - left charger behind and they posted it to us. -Comfy bed, though have stayed on better. -Massive shower -Asked if there were additional extras as it was our anniversary and we got a 'Lovebox' which was really good fun and highly recommended for such an occasion.

Review 79:The location is central car parking is oposite in underground car park. Decor in rooms is first class , room was very comfortable bathroom modern .

Review 80:The isolation of the room: I could hear the neighbor walking in his/her room, there is no gym, no swimming pool

Review 81:The smell of the wood from the cheminey, the design, the bathroom TV

Review 82:The two single beds pushed together instead of a double. The duvet was a double, but in order to be covered we had to move to the midle where the two beds met. Not comfortable...

Review 83:Location and staff

Review 84:Only thing I could say that is being picky was I couldn't turn heating down in room , had I asked I'm sure the staff would have sorted.

Review 85:Hotel location and staff. Breakfast was not cheap but could have stayed in there fore a couple of hours and not had a bit of everything. No restaurant but not a problem as the hotel is surrounded by them. Will definitely return with my whole family.

Review 86:We got a free upgrade!! Which i didnt realise until we got upstairs as i'd just driven 9hrs. It was fantastic with spa bath and views of Fountainbleu. And the staff were so nice and helpful with everything

Review 87:The cleaning lady must know how to use the vaccum cleaner under the bed as well . The room was really dusty . Not easy to access to the hotel from the car park .

Review 88:Location is very convenient .

Review 89:This hotel is in the perfect location for the palace, restaurants and the town. All staff were very helpful even trying to find a restaurant on Valentines night for us. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Review 90:Olde worlde or old fashioned? You decide. I quite liked the style.

Review 91:Perfect location, across from chateau. Good shop selling lots local specialities, ideal gifts and reasonable prices.

Review 92:The staff, particularly Michelle who gave perfect commendations for dinner at the Bistro du Cadran. Coming out in the rain to personally say goodbye was a very nice touch. The lounge with open fire is a welcomed place to chill with a glass of wine after a day out. It is an elegant, peaceful and handily placed hotel for a few days in this area.

Review 93:Common areas not very cosy Had cigarette smell in first room and then moved to second room with odour from shower drain so was not ideal.

Review 94:Good covenient location

Review 95:We loved this hotel and plan to return! It's really beautiful, comfortable, clean, best wall paper i've seen in a long time! and the staff are so helpful and kind. Really a wonderful escape from Paris...sitting by the fire at night was blissful. High recommended

Review 96:This is my favorite hotel we stayed at during our 2 weeks in Paris. Loved having the coffee maker in the room and our favorite patisserie was around the corner.

Review 97:good breakfast, but pretty standard and with 18EUR overpriced

Review 98:central location, charming style of the rooms, nicely equipped large rooms, comfortable beds, good Wifi

Review 99:Nothing to report

Review 100:Across the road from the Palace and on the edge of the city. Restaurants and all facilities literally adjacent. Lovely room with excellent bed. Breakfast was best we have had in France. Faultless.

Review 101:We loved everything

Review 102:The location The fact they upgraded us for no obvious reason The decor The tv in the mirror! The tv in the bathroom! Everything

Review 103:An excellent hotel, with every amenity and outstanding staff. Our welcome was warm and friendly, the room was comfortable and equipped with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. There was a Jacuzzi bath and even a tv screen built into the bathroom mirror. We had a room overlooking the square in front of the hotel but there was no noise in the room. The location could not be better, a few steps away from the shops, restaurants and the Fontainbleau Chateau. Parking was convenient enough, again just a few steps away from the hotel entrance, but even with the special arrangement which the hotel has with the car park, reducing the cost of a day from €15 to €12, this is still very expensive. The price of the breakfast is extortionate, so we ate elsewhere (there are plenty of alternatives). Other than that, this hotel is highly recommended, and we would stay there again.

Review 104:Brilliant location. Decor excellent and eye for detail. Very comfortable. Excellent and friendly staff and wonderful buffet breakfast. Carparking easy with special rate for hotel customers.

Review 105:Wifi reception quality was variable in room.

Review 106:Helpful and friendly staff. Good location in Fontaineblau, close to chateau, gardens and restaurants. Size and comfort of room. Close to public car parking.

Review 107:Hotel has a nice building just in front of Chateau and a minute away from the main streets. The interior of the hotel has a character Room was good with extremely comfortable bed and modern bathroom (with shower and jacuzzi).

Review 108:we are seasoned travelers and cannot find one single fault with the hotel.

Review 109:Location, Location, Location!!! perfectly situated in center of town just 3 minutes walk from the Palace Entrance and Gardens, surrounded by the best restaurants, shops and cafes. Magnificent original building, beautifully maintained and decorated in period style with wonderful ambiance. Very decadent and luxuriously furnished with lots of very high quality art and antiques. Bedroom was fabric lined which made it very cosy and appropriate to the style of the hotel and town. Again wonderful antique furniture. Spotless and warm with lovely view from Balcony. Staff were warm and friendly and if you are hungry, the Buffet breakfast should not be missed as its top quality with wonderfully attentive service & served in a magnificent room. Looking forward to returning as too much to see and experience in 2 days. We felt like were are staying IN the main Palace!!

Review 110:...18 Euro is too a high price for breakfast. Electricity worked a bit strangely (coudn't switch on/off all light at a time) - probably due to old wiring. In general nothing negative that could stop me from booking this hotel one more time.

Review 111:Rooms are very cosy with traditional textile walls. All necessary stuff is present. Some rooms have even more amenities (Nespresso coffeemachine, large LED TV, rainshower, TV in a bathroom mirror). Great view from x17-x20 rooms (onto Place du Napoleon Bonaparte, Diane garden and Fontainebleau Castle). Very nice and pleasant personnel at the reception. Great variety of breakfast food - very delicious, but...

Review 112:Poor wifi in the room

Review 113:Excellent value for money. Few steps from the entrance of the Fontainebleau chateau, generous breakfast, exquisitely and tastefully furnished. Toiletries available, spacious bathroom. Lively cafes and restaurants just outside.

Review 114:Personal attention and service to guests. Comfort in room and restaurant. Location at walking distance from castle, tourism office, restaurants, forest.

Review 115:The small walkway access by car, in case of heavy luggage, should have better description in the web site, as it can be a bit confusing.

Review 116:Wonderfully decorated and well kept ambience of the past, great location right in the center with close distance to the castle and restaurants, specious room with excellent facilities very good value for money, the nearby car parking with reasonable charge comes in convenient.

Review 117:Enormously friendly/happy/helpful staff Best hotel bed we've tried Very spaceous room Excellent attention to detail Wonderful breakfast Super location

Review 118:Bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Skipped breakfast at E18 per person per day cheeky. Cafe on the corner did fab breakfast for half that.

Review 119:Location excellent Car park extremely convenient

Review 120:The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to help. This is the second time we have stayed at the Aigle Noir and would definitely stay again. There is a lovely courtyard out front for a glass of wine and it is directly across the road from the Chateau.

Review 121:Carpeted throughout, everywhere, Not suitable for those allergic to dust. The shower drain smelled like sewage, that he felt all over the room.

Review 122:the location,it is in front of the castle

Review 123:ideal to break the journy from the South of France to england. Handy for the Chateau, parking underground easy (although an additional charge of 12 Euro). Quality Hotel with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby
