Reviews for Le Bristol

Review 1:Cheapest rooms have very small bathrooms but still very clean and functional.

Review 2:Excellent position. Incredibly good value. Nice people. Huge beds in all rooms.

Review 3:Le Roy was the perfect host! Treated you like family! She arranged everything for us to see Normandy. So helpful, caring and passionate to make everything perfect. Not able to speak French, she arranged a taxi, rental car, directions, and helpful local knowledge of the area. Le Roy is the best hostess I've ever had the pleasure to meet! The hotel was old with so much character! Very clean, free wifi, parking and a very delicious breakfast! Location, location, location! Close to the train, rental cars and Normandy. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel! I would go out of my way to stay there again! Merci beaucoup!

Review 4:The room was tiny considering the price.

Review 5:Clean room, friendly staff. The hotel is not too far from the city center and it is in a quiet street. Wi-Fi was working properly.

Review 6:We were looking for a hotel reasonably near the centre of Caen with secure parking, and Le Bristol fits that description well. Staff were helpful, and the room was comfortable.

Review 7:Cannot rate this hotel as although I had booked it 6 months earlier, when I arrived they declared it full and put me in another hotel half a mile away.

Review 8:This is a great little hotel with really helpful desk staff on duty 24/7. The room was small and the bathroom almost petite but the decor was smart, efficient and everything worked well including the electric exterior blind. The bathroom/shower is right off the room, a small drawback, but well equipped. Parking was included at the back.

Review 9:Perfume smell in the lobby area, coverup?

Review 10:Hotel owner is gracious, helpful and a delight. Parking is available on site. Rooms are nice and there is an elevator.

Review 11:the location was not in the best area in town, although it is only a 10 minute walk to the better parts of the town.

Review 12:The rooms were very comfortable, and building quite nice inside, but....

Review 13:The hotel is very easy walking distance from the Caen train station. The staff was wonderful and informed me of sights that I should check out, even though I was only staying one night, that information was very helpful. The room was a bit bigger than expected which was nice.

Review 14:The area of town that this hotel was in was kind of rough and loud. There was a "dusk until dawn" club right across the streetfrom our room. The noise would have kept me awake in the summer if thewindows were open. I was apprehensive about leaving my car in the on-street parking in front of the hotel but was strongly dissuaded fromusing the hotel parking for some reason. The bathroom was the smallest Ihave ever seen anywhere and its frosted glass door offered minimalprivacy. As seems to be the case in much of France, no washcloths wereprovided. Pillows were nasty, lumpy old things. I ended up covering mytravel pillow with a blanket as an alternative. I have run into this ata couple of other hotels on this trip and don't understand it. Adecent pillow is just basic, isn't it? Breakfast wasn't bad - Iliked the fresh orange juice option - but the scrambled eggs had astrange texture as if they had been reconstituted. I would benefit froma tutorial on how to make hard-bolied eggs in one of the french devicesused for that purpose.

Review 15:The mattress was comfortable and the room was nice and dark. It hadexcellent windows, which insulated the room from street noise whenclosed. Internet service was clear and easy to use. Caen was a goodplace to stay to access the D-Day and William the Conqueror sites. Therewere some beautiful old churches within walking distance, including St-Pierre's where we went to Mass on Sunday and were warmly welcomed.

Review 16:The bathroom door was semi-transparent which was rather strange for us. There are bars in the street but with closed (double-glazed) windows the noise was not disturbing.

Review 17:Very friendly staff. The hotel has its own car park which proved to be free (we booked a place when booking the room). Nice room, good breakfast.

Review 18:Good hotel location near the city center. Privat parking. Clean rooms and a nice buffet breakfast. Just small walk to attractions and nearby you will find many different styles of restaurants. Great place for a base for exploring the D-Day landing beaches and to return the evening to spend the city's night life.

Review 19:Small Room, very, very small bathroom. Toilet only 1 meter away from the bed. A lot of streetnoise till 2 or 3 am (there is a bar on the other side of the street).

Review 20:Good location, very friendly staff.

Review 21:A little un nerving walking back to the hotel late at night as there were one or two homeless and unsavoury looking people about.

Review 22:Great time and location

Review 23:No air con - and on a hot day it can get a little stuffy, in addition could hear some noise outside.

Review 24:Lovely staff and breakfast was worth every penny, room cleaned beautifully.

Review 25:The room was very hot and there is no air conditioning. Also we prefer individualised soaps, not the liquid stuff provided.

Review 26:The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast.

Review 27:No bar as advertised, they serve you from reception and you sit in a little side room that is open to everyone walking in and out, a bit uncomfortable but that is the only down side

Review 28:Hotel location very good. Lovely friendly people who helped us with our French and were very patient. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to others

Review 29:We had some difficulty qith the language at reception but we overcame them. In our experience it is necessary to have a good grasp of French in Caen in general.

Review 30:Free wifi

Review 31:I think the breakfast @ 9 euro's was overpriced and not that much choice

Review 32:The location was excellent, close to shops, attractions and eating venues, also very close to the race course and canal. The staff were lovely and friendly at any point required they willingly offered local information. I would stay again

Review 33:The bathroom door was flimsy and offered little privacy between people. The shower floor was slippery which seems to be almost unavoidable in European hotels. Restaurants are several blocks away and the surrounding streets around the hotel are deserted at night though we did not feel threatened.

Review 34:The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The bed was quite comfortable. Excellent shower. There was a boulangerie around the corner that served great coffee and pastries at considerably lower cost than breakfast in the hotel. Also very nearby were an ATM and a convenience store for buying water, fruit, and snacks for the trip.

Review 35:Room was very small, except for bed which was large and very comfortable.

Review 36:Bed was large and very comfortable. Staff was very helpful. Location was convenient to many good restaurants. Shower facility was excellent, but did not have grab bar, useful to aging folks like us.

Review 37:Carpet needs replacing. It was mouldy around door from rains and ice over the years.Musty smell in room but left window open to air.

Review 38:Pleasant owners. Attentive staff. Cute old paris building. I would stay there again. Felt safe

Review 39:Two not very comfortable things: the bath cabin is too small, and one night there was too loud outside cause of night club and bars near the hotel

Review 40:Very good hotel! Thank you that considered all my requests! Very friendly stuff. Room is absolutely clean. I'd like to stay here next time

Review 41:It took us a while to find the place from the train station. We had some Google directions that we had difficulty interpreting.

Review 42:The Hotel was great - nice room - very friendly and helpful front desk staff and great location.

Review 43:Very noisy because of the Mossie bar across the street which was open from dusk till dawn! Stayed 5 nights. When we went to pay on departure day lady on Front desk said all 4 credit cards weren't working! So we had to pay in cash!! thank God we had bought euros in cash before leaving Australia. We were catching the train to Bordeaux that morning. Can you imagine trying to find an ATM at the last minute! After that experience we have paid each hotel at least 1 working day prior to checking out!

Review 44:Reasonably close to the train station. Room was okay and breakfast adequate. Wifi was good. Enjoyed Caen and the surrounding areas very much., Caught local bus to Honfleur, train to Bayeux and visited the Memorial and other sites in Caen. Enjoyed eating at :Pub au Bureau

Review 45:Room was a bit on the small side, and an uninspiring view over car park. But honestly, for the money and the location, this was a perfect place to crash.

Review 46:Location was an easy walk to the centre, lock-up parking was fine for a bike (they have one garage). Helpful staff. Inexpensive.

Review 47:Cramped bedroom Very small bathroom Smell of cooking came into room at 6 am presumably smoke from any fire would rapidly do the same No tea or coffee facilities (despite being listed as provided on Booking.com site!) On street parking

Review 48:Staff friendly and helpful Clean room Free Wi-fi

Review 49:Very difficult to find in the dark. It was cheaper for us to park on the street. Reception area not remodeled, but the rooms were, so not a big issue.

Review 50:Clean and renovated rooms, good beds and excellent Wifi. Courteous reception despite our late arrival.

Review 51:Very tiny room Very tiny bathroom with glass door in front of the toilet No A/C Night club and bar on the other side of the street

Review 52:Friendly, English speaking staff Excellent breakfast (the best in France so far) Clean room Veriety of TV channels (with English speaking option) Fast WiFi Free parking at the back of the hotel

Review 53:In front rooms, potential for noise from nearby clubs in early hours. One such noisy altercation during our stay'

Review 54:Clean, good breakfast, easy to find, helpful staff

Review 55:No complaints.

Review 56:Excellent location, convenient, wi-fi in rooms, good meals, reasonable price, secure parking - very happy overall, and we would use them again!

Review 57:Bathroom / Shower room could be improved by reducing the size of the sink. This would provide a little more flexibility in what is a workable, but very limited space.

Review 58:Friendly helpful staff, the room was in good decorative order, clean and tidy. Although somewhat compact the room was more than adequate for a short stay and represented excellent value for the 69 Euro pppn cost ... we would stay again.

Review 59:15-20 min walk from the center and not many restaurants around.

Review 60:Breakfast was very generous. Functional hotel and very helpful and polite staff.

Review 61:rooms a little bit small

Review 64:Nice and clean

Review 65:Nothing to dislike!!

Review 66:Very helpful staff and managed to park right outside the door.

Review 67:Very noisy street location. Fortunately a parking space was available behind the hotel. If it is filled, there is no other close parking.

Review 68:The staff was exceptionally helpful!!

Review 69:The very friendly staff and owner. Good location for restaurants and other eateries within easy walking distance. Has a lift essential for us.

Review 116:We liked pretty much everything, but our twin-bedded room was pretty small, though fully-equipped.

Review 117:The reception staff greeted us warmly on every occasion and on arrival the receptionist was particularly helpful in providing advice on eating places. The bed was comfortable, the shower powerful and the room was spotless. There is free parking on the road outside the hotel from 19:00 to 09:30, so you don't have to get up early to move the car.
