Reviews for Appart' City Caen

Review 1:The kitchen! It is an appartment, so one expects to have some cooking facilities. Here it was just right, and everything was in place. The only tip: bring your own mug, if you like coffee or tea in large quantities :-)

Review 2:Did not tell in advance that registration only open during certainhours. We almost couldn't get in because of 2hour stop at border, then trouble finding place. Went past at least 5 times, no lights toshow hotel name. Very poor setup. Wifi a joke, poor reception even withhotel box. Parking also too complicated. Need to make it easier fortravelers, not harder, especially us older folks, and those whodon't speak French.

Review 3:Staff very helpful, once we got in.

Review 4:Manager rude and unhelpful, accommodation fit for students only, no room service, as in cleaned for the whole 5 days we stayed. Never again!!!

Review 5:Nearby tram line to get around caen

Review 6:Continental Breakfast was a bit on the high price. Hotel is in a great location if you are interested in WWII Juno and Gold sector beach area. Caen is a bit far if you are interested in visiting Utah and Omaha sector beach area. Mont St Michel was 2 hr train each way so the trip took the entire day. Something you don't quite learned until then. In the map is looks much closer. Of course if you have a car then it will not be a hassle.

Review 7:Hotel was 2 min walk from Tram. Take Tram and reached Caen city in about 20 min ride. Hotel was very quiet been in a university area campus 2. Staff was very helpful in providing guidance on bus and train. There's a small change for internet and parking if you have a car.

Review 8:They were testing the fire alarm without warning. Not a big problem for us, but everybody left the building even though there was no need to! A simple note on the door would have been enough!

Review 9:Good value for money!

Review 10:Roomcleaning could use some improvement

Review 11:You get a small one bedroom apartament. You are 2 mins from the tram station, a good restaurant and a supermarket.

Review 12:We used this as a base to visit the Commonwealth D-Day landing beaches and it is ideally placed for that. The kitchen means that you can visit Carrefour 200m away and cook a proper meal or jump on the tram into the centre and visit a restaurant. We had a two bedroom apartment that was suited to our family with two older children.

Review 13:We arrived late and had to leave early but this did not pose any problem at all as we got an email stating the code to access the keys. On checkout we only had to drop the keys in a designated box. Will recommend to our friends.

Review 14:Fine - didn't like the cutlery, but very small point!

Review 15:good location - close to a convenient tram to the city centre, McDonalds and supermarket nearby, as well as a beautiful park. Comfortable beds and good value for an apartment hotel. cheap and good wifi

Review 16:Only that lift not working for entire stay, bit of a hike to third floor with luggage, but other than that all ok

Review 17:Very friendly staff and comfortable room

Review 18:Communal areas in need of redecoration and new carpets.

Review 19:Large suites. Friendly staff. Overall, a little bit shabby in places but good value for money.

Review 20:In the French holiday season the parking is inadequate unless the use of the Campus parking is made officially permissible. On two nights we had great difficulty finding parking on the street as the car park was full.

Review 21:Excellent location for visiting the restaurant area (Place de Plaisance) yet good for visiting the D Day beaches etc.

Review 22:Unfortunately the lift was out of order and we were on 5th floor! Fridge door didnt close fully, so had to hold a chair against it during our stay. Free parking spaces were few and really tight to get into with our large family 7seater, but could have paid 5 euros for a booked accessible parkingspace.

Review 23:Great value for money, comfortable and practical, very spacious and quiet. Being able to cook own dinner and breakfast in kitchen facilities a huge bonus!

Review 24:Lift out of order and we were on the 3rd floor - difficult with luggage.

Review 25:One night stay - well priced basic accommodation. WiFi was not working - had to pay to use cable internet. Balcony was nice.

Review 26:Bed not terribly comfortable; WiFi wasn't free; breakfast not included; no a/c (so open Windows, which allowed bugs and noise to come in).

Review 27:Good sized rooms; good price; parking included.

Review 28:need more and better pillows, it was not easy to call and get the access code this code of been texted or emailed to us much easier. location for harbour not great feel mislead by your advert on line for this one , Cherbourg great this not.

Review 29:Stain on the carpet.Apartment looked a little tired and in need of refurbished.

Review 30:Arrangement for late arrival was first class.Reception staff in the morning couldn't do enough to help.

Review 31:My bed was a sofa bed which was very uncomfortable and had o known that was what I was sleeping on I would never have booked this hotel. It's unacceptable when you are the ot person sleeping in the room

Review 32:Not a lot of room to get out of shower......quite dangerous on a wet surface

Review 33:Great location near tram stop. Staff speak English so very hrlpful when your French is limited

Review 34:it was great they replaced all the mattresses the night after we got there as they were pretty bad... But all gd now. The carpet was really grubby - but hey what can you expect with such a cheap rate. The self catering laundry was good and the reception staff were excellent ... Very very helpful.

Review 35:Nice quiet location but a wee bit out of town. Tram just 2 mins walk away but a car is required to see all the DDay landing type sites.

Review 36:The kitchen did not have a coffee maker in the second apartment and the wifi was not free. The keys to get into the room were very finicky and the parking is tight. All in all it is a decent stay, it is an apartment, so don't expect a hotel room.

Review 37:First impression was a groan. It seemed the bed would be horrible, small bath, but we were pleasantly surprised with the bed comfort and the facilities were just right. Amazing water pressure. We did not cook here, only used it for sleeping, good value, plenty of free parking and fairly convenient to travel to and from.

Review 38:I think the reception should be manned all day. Crazy to shut for so long. What about shift system to cover lunch period?

Review 39:Good parking but didn't know it was charged for on daily basis. Quiet location and great tram links

Review 40:Room was not very clean. Breakfast cereal on floor in bedroom & childrens colouring inside fold out bed. Carpet had dirty stains & the walls in apartment were horrible with scuffs and stains everywhere. Definitely needs a lick of paint throughout. Also windows had no safety catches on. Feel this needs to be rectified especially with young children staying there.

Review 41:Great location. Tram stop straight outside, places to eat & supermarket all within walking distance. Close to ferry port.

Review 42:POOR INFORMATION ON LOCATION AND ACCESS, ONLY SAVED BY MEMBER OF STAFF, STAYING LATE WHO FOUND MY PAPERWORK WITH ROOM DETAILS, OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE SLEPED IN RECEPTION

Review 43:GOOD FACILITIES, GOOD LOCATION

Review 44:There was a strong cigarette smell in the room the didn't go away even after a week. The only other available room smelled even worse. The breakfast is too expensive and includes no eggs. Wifi was unstable. A bit far from the center.

Review 45:It was quiet and the staff was helpful and kind. It's very close to the tram and within walking distance of the university's campus 2 and 4. The bed was comfortable. Wifi is cheap.

Review 46:Getting keys from safe was a nightmare. Spent ages on phone with 4 calls at great expense. Fortunately, a guest knew the combination to the safe and we could get our keys. Make sure you have safe code if arriving out of reception times. Its also out in the middle of the hospital and offices with not much around although that didn't bother us

Review 47:Basic student type apartment with adequate accommodation and quite a reasonable kitchen (no oven). Beds were comfy enough for me (my normal complaint) and will definitely be using again.Continental breakfast was great. Excellent value for money.

Review 48:Sofa bed are no conducive to good sleep or a long drive!

Review 49:Staff really helpful, especially after our car was damaged in the car park, but no success in contacting the other car involved, or contact from the manager, as promised.

Review 50:We were clearly given a heavy smokers room. It stank and smelt stale. Room was also a double not a twin, so we had to get an air bed and sleeping bag from our car.

Review 51:Cheap, basic and affordable apartments. This is the second year we've stayed.

Review 52:My family & I arrived after the front desk had left for the day. I was supposed to receive an email with the access code to get the key to our "apartment". I never received the email. It took over an hour (maybe longer) to get in touch with someone with the access code. Other than that, our stay was fine.

Review 53:Easy access to the D-Day landing sites & motor way to Mont St Michel.

Review 54:Wifi non existent after 1 day. Reception closed early so couldn't sort it. Friends had no kettle or balcony and just a sofa bed to sleep on. No kettle- really? Supposed to be an apart'hotel.

Review 55:Cheap.

Review 56:Loud traffic late at night and it is very, very basic. It's nit a room you would want to hang out in but it was fine for us since we were there for DDay remembrance events.

Review 57:It was fairly inexpensive and had what we needed during a very difficult time to find a room.

Review 58:No complementary wi-fi in apartment, no complementary tea, coffee or other welcoming products. All laundry facilities available on a user-pays basis only.

Review 59:Quiet location, comfortable apartment with modest self-catering facilities.

Review 60:The bed was not particularly welcoming and the kettle was broken which took out all of the electricity!

Review 61:The location was good - right near a tram stop. The room was clean and presentable and staff helpful.

Review 62:The bed was uncomfortable. It was a sofa bed made up as a bed. The shower cubicle wasn't very clean.

Review 63:Kitchenette was very well equipped and even though there were only expresso cups we were able to cater for snacks and breakfast.

Review 64:Payed WiFI is ODD! Only had a cleaning lady pass 1 time in a week. Ran out of toilet paper! (there was not much to start with, and it was not re-field)

Review 65:Close to GANIL Nice big rooms

Review 66:Not too easy to find, particularly in the dark.

Review 67:A perfect arrangement for enabling us to make an early start on the crossing the following day. Immaculate and comfortable.

Review 68:Staff not as friendly as they might be. Plates etc. in kitchen cupboard very hard to reach for shorter people

Review 69:Very clever use of space. Kitchen well equipped and living/sleeping quarters comfortable given the limited space.

Review 70:No bad experience. Disappointed that Wifi was only available in the lobby, yet that wasn't mentioned online. Having to pay extra for breakfast was also not listed online.

Review 71:Quietness

Review 72:The apart City Caen was extremely clean I have stayed at hotels that have been many times dearer and the cleanliness has not been up to the standard of appart city . We were extremely impressed by the comfort of the bed .

Review 73:No dvd player! Small cups only in the kitchen Bathroom décor in need of updating. Bath plug broken and lots of mould Bedroom bit small. Can only just walk around the bed.

Review 74:Location and signage good Kitchen had almost everything we needed Lighting and heating adequate Quite a few plug sockets Quiet and no noise issues Powerful shower

Review 75:no free wifi, no free printing, business center was closed circa Dec 2014 so had to rely on front desk (which closes after 10 pm i think).

Review 76:five adults, we liked having two separate bedrooms and an open space (which also has a couch/trundle bed). kitchen was very clean, plenty of towels. free parking, and 2 minute drive to carrefour (supermarket)

Review 77:We were greeted very well and everything was explained nicely. The apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We were really impressed at the incredible value for money and the helpful staff. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 78:No oven in the kitchen. No washing machine for clothes in the room. Very cheap beds.

Review 79:Car parking. Very quiet location at nights. Short drive to town centre.

Review 80:parking in allocated area was almost impossible before 7-8pm any day as it shares with a college and access to reception/hotel is strictly to the time indicated (otherwise you can't even get in the building)

Review 81:very big rooms and living area

Review 82:THE TV CHANNELS WERE VERY LIMITED & I REALLY NEEDED BETTER INSTRUCTION ADVICE ON CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET.

Review 83:THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND FREINDLY WITH GOOD ADVICE & KNOWLEDGE. GOOD SELF CATERING FACILITYS.

Review 84:It was terrible, No wifi, no clean room, no compliance with booking's photo, no clean carpet, in room was smell of cigarettes.

Review 85:Free parking

Review 86:Getting your key was very confusing and the passwords to open the door were not clear from the beginning. Other guests had to give advice because the staff was not there to assist Two young women could not find their key and had to find another hotel to stay at late at night

Review 87:Location.

Review 88:The bathroom was squalid. The bath panel was off exposing a sordid scene. The carpet in the living room was very worn and stained.

Review 89:All five of us could be in one apartment rather than scattered across several rooms in a hotel

Review 90:Car park very busy, difficult to find a space at certain times of day.

Review 91:Excellent location. Easy to exit Caen by car, easy to get into Caen centre by public transport. (tram) No noise. Good value for money. Good selection of shops nearby

Review 92:We are not a couple but mature age sister and brother sharing a room. The room was a bit crowded with twin beds.

Review 93:All-round good value. The room had large, opening windows and was spotlessly clean.

Review 94:The rooms were nothing like the photographs on the web, the facilities in the kitchen were poor, the lift broke down the day before I was due to leave and I was in the 5th floor with a heavy bag, the cleanliness was poor

Review 95:1failure to maintain property. My rental car scratched by overgrown parking area, 2 carpeting in deplorable condition horrible stains everywhere. 3 non refundable 4 Cost more than good hotels 5 you should not carry them...we look to you carry quality not rip offs.

Review 96:Location

Review 97:Having to sleep in an uncomfortable pullout couch with hard pillows

Review 98:Not much. Felt like cheap student accommodation being used during World Equestrian Games. Of course for what one got it was not cheap! Breakfast was OK Staff friendly

Review 99:Difficult door key, cramped kitchen facilities, lack of loo paper.

Review 100:Grea, t location, easy access, quiet and close to supermarket. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 101:Quite small appartment in need of refurbishment. Kitchin very dark. Compare this with this the Novotel Suite in Rouen, which was much the same price per night, but much larger, lighter and cleaner (and much better TV/Internet choices).

Review 102:Position near Caen and the Normandy coast is very good.

Review 103:A bit far away from the city center, but with very good transport connections (Tram line A).

Review 104:We stayed in Caen for the World Equestrian Games 2014. The hotel had very helpful and friendly staff. The room was comfortable and clean, the kitchen had all the necessary equipment for cooking our own food.

Review 105:The standard of the room certainly didn't match the photograph on the Internet! Very disappointing! I would recommend it to friends - but be very clear about what they would be getting.

Review 106:It was a great base for our travels around Caen. Caen is fantastic, lots to see, local markets. Very easy to manage the tramway system to get the station to go to Bayeux, bus to Carburg, etc

Review 107:The whole apartment had the feel of recently vacated student accommodation - stains on the carpet, grubby cutlery and crockery, cheap and tired fittings, faded bed spreads. Mattresses were thin and we "rolled together". We visited during a chilly spell and did not have enough bedding. But for 108 euros for an apartment for four...

Review 108:The price we paid for our two apartments was very good so maybe we shouldn't really moan about anything. The staff were very pleasant and helpful when sorting out a couple of issues. Sheets were well laundered.

Review 109:A bit dark in street and slightly difficult to find hotel. Some people hanging around in carpark after dark with engine running - a secure carpark would be preferable (although no problems occurred). No kettle in kitchen - had to boil water in a pot (no real problem).

Review 110:Separate sleeping space for children and adults. Handled late check-in via envelope in security box, with code sent by SMS - this was handled very well. Kitchen facilities very useful.

Review 111:Paying 4-star price for 2-star accommodation. Because there was a world equestrian event the price was doubled.

Review 112:Handy for the tram to the city but otherwise quite remote.

Review 113:Reception not open on Saturday evening at 9.30 - had to be ring before departure to get codes. Location not great

Review 114:Good accommodation for a family of four Good value for money

Review 115:The smell from the drains, The distance from town Icebox was iced up so couldn't make ice as the icebox door wouldn't close. The lift broke down (informed it was a staff member who did it) this family of four were told the good news is you are on the fifth floor and the bad news is the lift is broken the receptionist laughed as she told them we were on the fifth floor too we had 10 flights to climb having a back condition this wasn't easy. The MacDonalds nearby seemed to attract bikers who revved up a lot

Review 116:Were able to sit out on the balcony, Close enough to a supermarket

Review 117:nothing

Review 118:First time renting at Appart'City and pleasantly surprised. Rooms are clean and spacious, breakfast is good. Location makes it easy to go in or out of town. It has a feel of student residence but the price is great.

Review 119:No Kettle, only coffee maker!

Review 120:Ease of use, with parking and adequately equipped with Fridge, microwave, etc. Arrived late and good communication for collection of keys

Review 121:The room was smaller than we expected. The carpet was not cleaned well. We didn't like the bed which was a sofa that can be made into a double bed. No airco available and it was not convenient to open the window as that opened up to the parking lot causing a lot of noise from arriving and departing guests.

Review 122:Plenty of parking space. WiFi was OK. Kitchenette available with refrigerator, electric cooking plate, and utensils for cooking and eating. We liked the proximity of a shopping mall with some cafetarias and a Carrefour supermarket. Also there is a Mc Donald's nearby.

Review 123:Not enough hot water in the tank.Late bath would probably have no hot water and you will freeze to madness.

Review 124:Very reasonable price and good size of bedroom. Clean and comfotable. We bought food for microwave and save a lot. Nearby supermarket makes thing convenient.

Review 125:When elevator broke out. Aside from this, I like everything.

Review 126:Place is situated in a nice and quiet area. Staff are excellent and accommodating. Very close to a commercial area where you can get everything you need on your stay.

Review 127:Not very clean - the shower and bathroom walls could use a good scrubin the corners. There was hair and dirt in the corners. The toiletlooked grimy.

Review 128:I liked having a small kitchen and a refrigerator. I also liked that itwas very quiet even though the hotel was full.

Review 129:Personally, as poorly sighted, a mirror flush on wall would have made getting ready easier. Plenty of space for wall mirror.

Review 130:Self contained, no interference, all needs catered for, good location, free parking on site.

Review 131:piddly pillows, so took my own and how un -British no kettle so tea was made in a saucepan and drungk out of a bowl...how European

Review 132:close to perihique, so easy to find. opposite a really big carrefour, but down a side street so quiet. Lovely reception staff. Big appartment, great value.

Review 133:The room and facilities were very 'tired' and looked old fashioned. There was an unpleasant rather stale odour in the room. it really did not match up to what we expected from a 3 star property.

Review 134:Communication from the property was excellent. Parking was good. The staff on arrival were very efficient.

Review 135:Facilities and furnishings were quite run down, the carpet was filthy, and the ceiling of the bathroom was covered with mold.

Review 136:wifi room cleanliness, ameneties

Review 137:stayed 4 nights and room was not serviced at all. had to buy our own toilet paper

Review 138:very comfortable and spacious

Review 139:Paying extra to park a car and for WiFi seems a bit harsh.

Review 140:Location was perfect for our needs. Staff were very helpful.
