Reviews for Château de Divonne

Review 1:the set menu was very very expensive so we went out to eat in the town.

Review 2:the room and hotel was beautiful and fantastic views from the back terrace. Got there late so didnt have time to appreciate everything.

Review 3:A quiet relaxing place to stay with old-world charm while having daily business meetings in Geneva. My wife and I took the country route into the city through Gex and Ferney-Voltaire to avoid the daily rush-hour traffic on the freeway, and ended the week with a celebratory French dinner at the Chateau restaurant. The food was wonderful and the beautiful surroundings made the week seem like a vacation.

Review 4:Price for breakfast far to high in no relation to the quality and variation offered. Breakfast personell did not speak English. Bathroom very small, could not be in the bathroom with 2 persons at same time. Price-quality was out of range. Food in restaurant was over-overpriced, (fe Euro 35 for 4 small pieces of tomato as a starter). In total everything was to expensive. We will not visit again.

Review 5:Location was wonderfull but overpriced in all aspects.

Review 6:The hotel is an old style. The breakfast is less than the expectations. During checkout, they wanted to charge the omlet I requested during berakfast to the bill! There is no A/C in the rooms. Becuase the hoel is old, when you walk, you will hear your steps.

Review 7:The location is great for relaxation.

Review 8:Breakfast is poor for the price, however when taken on the terrace it definitively worth it! In other words to be avoided when the terrace is closed f

Review 9:The castle and its location are fantastic!

Review 10:No Wi-Fi Old, outdated and run down property Noise and smell from the kitchen Noise and lights through the night Noise from deliveries in the morning No sleep whatsoever

Review 11:Location

Review 12:It was really hot and would've been good to have aircon. The breakfast was far too pricey at €24 per person so we went into town to have breakfast there. I also felt that the hotel was overpriced at €200 per night. For that price you get a room in a 5* hotel in London so I'm not sure how this is justified in Divonne. The Chateau is beautiful but really needs to be updated.

Review 13:Nice hotel in decent location, roughly 10 minutes walk into town. We had a very large room with a massive bed.

Review 14:Expensive breakfast would not give a chance to try it. Should be included in the price of the room or at least should have a realistic price. The Chateaux is situated in France right after the borders in Divonne Ville however it's price reflects a Swiss hotel 150 Euro/ night for a simple twin bed room.

Review 15:This is a very beautiful Chateau, a nicely decorated and friendly place to stay. Friendly and good staff.

Review 16:The breakfast was expensive, so we chose to eat out however they had added the breakfast onto our bill anyway

Review 17:We booked a classic room but on arrival were given a free upgrade.

Review 18:Poor breakfast for £20!. Would recommend a pain au chocolat in town instead. Expensive but so is everything in this area if France. We stayed for a friends wedding at the Chateau, would probably stay at one of the many other cheaper hotels in town if visiting again however if you are after a French Chateau experience then I would recommend.

Review 19:Decent sized rooms, attentive staff, authentic French period decor. Lovely outdoor pool area.

Review 20:Restaurant menu is a bit too eccentric. Duvets instead of (old) wool blankets on beds would increase comfort a lot.

Review 21:French hospitality at its best.

Review 22:Restaurant was closed

Review 23:Location and the property character

Review 24:The list was narrow and limited

Review 25:The history behind it and the staff.

Review 26:No jacuzzi

Review 27:Staff really nice make you feel that you are a king.. smiling and always ready to help

Review 28:Location, views and lovely building

Review 29:Not such a wonderful breakfast for the price.

Review 30:Felt like some rooms need update or better maintenance (e.g. A/C)

Review 31:Charming property. Not far from Geneva.

Review 32:Breakfast too expensive.

Review 33:Beautiful chateau near Geneva. Place is great and clean. Great staff as well. Good view from the terrace.

Review 34:excellant location, quit city, only 20 min by car

Review 35:nothing

Review 36:everything

Review 37:everything was great especially the restaurant

Review 38:The view from the dining area.

Review 39:The breakfast was overpriced for what it was.

Review 40:The welcome from the staff and continued attention throughout our stay.

Review 41:Parking is a little inadequate and access to reception is not made for injured or handicapped people. Elevator surroundings on the ground floor could do with some signage to and from reception.

Review 42:Quaint old hotel with excellent rooms in size and facilities.

Review 43:kitchen was closed and therefore no food available, not even room service..no deduction for that inconvenience unfortunately from the price (when you would assume that in a SLHW there would at least be a kitchen open..)

Review 44:it was quiet only us, and another guest in the whole chateau..location was good as usual. they upgraded us to a very good room as usual.

Review 45:We had a classic room, which was small. No air conditioning. We thought from the description that the Chateau was in park land that could be walked around, but it is not. Breakfast is overpriced and we were charged for it despite not taking it. It took three emails before the hotel responded to our bill being incorrect, but when they did respond they refunded the overcharge immediately. It was a shame that it took 3 emails and a week before this happened though.

Review 46:Lovely old Chateau building, great staff. Great swimming pool for lounging around. Location is excellent and Divonne Les Bains is a nice little town. Great views from the terrace.

Review 47:Evening meal a bit pricey compared with the room rate. Still very nice meal though but be prepared for the price.

Review 48:Room size (upgraded to superior) and furnishings were excellent. Bed was very comfortable. Romantic old building and wonderful setting. Excellent views of switzerland from the terrace. Drinks on the terrace in the pre dusk evening is a must. Staff very attentive and friendly.

Review 49:Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room Small room size

Review 50:The quality of interior decoration The comfortablebeds The beautiful surroundings & view

Review 51:La petitesse de la chambre dite "classique" et l'insonorisation plancher du dessus inexistente. Le prix du petit déjeuner.

Review 52:L'endroit

Review 53:I did not like the staff closing up the room in the evening - I like to sleep with the window open for fresh air. I think it would have helped if you asked people's preference when they check in.

Review 54:the setting and the fact that it was connected to the de la forest-divonne family. I wish I had spent more time at the hotel enjoying the facility.

Review 55:We had a suite which badly needs renovating especially the bathroomwhich was sub standard. No english speaking tv programmes availablewhich is strange given the number of english speaking people who usethe hotel.

Review 56:The setting is charming, the staff very helpful. A good atmosphere

Review 57:Beautiful grounds, excellent staff, superb dining room

Review 58:Very friendly staff. Great location!

Review 59:Staff cooperation, Quite

Review 60:The maids came late afternoon for cleaning the rooms. The kitchen was fair but not exceptional.

Review 61:Friendly stuff. Clean rooms. Beautiful view.

Review 62:Excellent welcome, pretty room, excellent service and wonderful dinner. Fabulous find!

Review 63:very nice room exellent food good service parking available

Review 64:The breakfast was very poor, however expensive. Beds and linen are not of the best quality.

Review 65:Hotel staff was very friendly.

Review 66:Great breakfast room with an incredible view over lake Geneva to thefrench alps.

Review 67:All was good

Review 68:Country location provided feeling of seclusion and exclusiveness.

Review 69:It is absolutely beautiful place! Hotel staff extremely nice, great food, breath taking views. Only 15 min from Geneve
