Reviews for Les Digues Vauban

Review 1:No one on site except at breakfast. Most un professional attitude. Poor breakfast. It seemed more like a self catering establishment but without the facilities to even make a hot drink. Poorly lit in the evening, luckily we had our own torch.Very long walk to nearest restaurants.Overpriced .

Review 2:Friendly lady, although we had to wait for her arrival to check us in. No one on site during the day.

Review 3:One could not pay with a credit or debit card. Decor was quite minimal making the room seem quite cold.

Review 4:Breakfast was amazing. Location was good, just a short drive or a manageable walk from the center of St. Jean de Luz. Room was exceptionally clean.

Review 5:Only negative is unavailability of staff. Owners don't live at property so unable to obtain items placed in refrigerator in dining room when needed.

Review 6:Overall everything was wonderful.

Review 7:lack of sound insulation between our room on the ground floor and the one above musty atmosphere in the bedroom breakfast minimal

Review 8:size of room and bathroom were good

Review 9:It's at the top of a very steep hill, it's difficult for disabled travellers & not for the faint hearted, able bodied.

Review 10:Very friendly, comfortable & clean. Lots of space & excellent storage. Nice views & conveniently situated between near cibourne/socoa & St Jean de Luz.

Review 11:Would have liked a parking spot. We went early June and town parking was easy and free, but after middle of June it would be difficult and costly

Review 12:We booked through Brittany Ferries and requested a sea view(extra 20 euros/night/room- well worth it) also a parking spot, which we didn't get

Review 13:We were made very welcome, the rooms were beautifully decorated and comfortable. We loved being up above the bay but only a few minutes from the lively town of St Jean de Luz. Delicious breakfast and well equipped kitchen.

Review 14:One table for breakfast for all! locations is OK but quite a long walk to town. Saint Jean far to long a walk.

Review 15:Owners nice, charming welcome and helpful. Our view was excellent

Review 16:No aircon. Not suitable for someone who can't walk well as it's set on a very steep hill.

Review 17:A very nice overnight stop location. Clean modern rooms, very comfortable.

Review 18:Very noisy Lack of intimacy Very bad WiFi connection No credit card terminal

Review 19:Location King size bed Big bathroom Good food for breakfast

Review 20:Only downside was having to go down a steep flight of stairs to the toilet & bathroom

Review 21:The view & the location

Review 22:Slightly squeaky upstairs

Review 23:Location and surroundings, room was huge!

Review 24:every part of the hotel was superb, would recommend to everyone. Staff friendly and most helpful.

Review 25:Location Quality Facilities Warm welcome

Review 26:great location, excellent hosts, accommodation very clean, quiet and comfortable.

Review 27:Great location. Walkable to everywhere. Low key/flexible. Very helpful, kind, friendly owners.

Review 28:Difficult to get luggage up a very steep drive. Also, slipped and hurt myself on the wooden decking which when wet is very slippery and dangerous.

Review 29:The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very good.

Review 30:Difficult to find even with satnav, steep slpoe from parking to room and no lights outside for return after dark. The main problem was the noise from room above- we had a reasonably early night as we were on route to Spain and the occupants arrived latish, and sounded like a herd of elephants each time they walked across the wooden floor.-not the owners fault but some soundproofing needed I think

Review 31:the owners were friendly and efficient, bedroom and wet room lovely,

Review 32:Nothing except that it is very steep so not recommended in icy conditions!

Review 33:Charming owners, wonderful views. Possibility for safe parking as the car was full to the brim, not always easy to find. Also a lovely walk to St Jean de Luz

Review 34:Had to leave.

Review 35:Pierre warmly welcomed us offering to carry our bags, he helped us with our car taking us to his local mechanic to do an exhaust repair. Sonia did excellent breakfast and both spoke excellent English and were helpful and informative. Location was superb, bang in the middle of two ports with beaches, we had a fabulous terrace with an elevated view of the sea. Loved staying there and would definitely return when we can. Highly recommended.

Review 36:Dirty shower due to mould and poor ventilation. Even after our complaint thet didn't clean it for our second night. Very noisy due to wooden floors. No solution offered by owner.Very expensive for poor quality.

Review 37:Location.

Review 38:Excellent location with good views and peaceful environment. Accommodation very modern, clean and beautifully presented. Very charming and helpful couple who made our stay most enjoyable, would certainly return and recommend to others.

Review 39:Nothing at all. A perfect stay.

Review 40:Absolutely fabulous. It was a great surprise to arrive and see our wonderful accommodation. The decking and the sea view were an extra bonus. Pierre and Sonia were extremely efficient and friendly serving a wonderful healthy breakfast from the region.

Review 41:Steep access - fine by car but could be disconcerting for some. Moredifficult on foot. Not suitable for the disabled.

Review 42:Very good location for views of Cibourne harbour and castle. Sonya'swelcome Stylish bedroom & bathroom. Spacious interiors elsewhere.Excellent local restaurant. Pleasing variety in the Continentalbreakfast.

Review 43:The breakfast was fairly basic but nothing too terrible. For us it wasn't a problem but the place is situated at the top of a fairly steep climb so hard going on the legs.

Review 44:The room was lovely and the bathroom was phenomenal with high quality furniture and kept beautifully clean. Big comfy bed and loads of space for suitcases etc.....

Review 45:The rooms were very clean, comfortable and spacious. Paul was very helpful, he made breakfast very early for us,as our ferry had been cancelled, and had to get an earlier one.

Review 46:This chambres d'hote is well positioned with good views of the sea and Ciboure. Sonya, one half of the young couple who operate the business, was absolutely charming - she is Portuguese and speaks very good English. That is not to suggest that her partner Paul is not charming but just that we didn't have the pleasure of meeting him during our short one night stay. The rooms are of very contemporary design, extremely comfortable and well appointed including a high quality large double bed and walk in shower facilities. In our room there were excllent views of the coast from both the bedroom and and the en-suite through large floor to ceiling patio doors/windows. Good continental breakfast inlcuded.

Review 47:Jacuzzi bath with coloured lights and fancy controls, too complex for us to operate. No comfortable chairs to sit and read. Quite difficult to find hotel - my Sat Nav not a lot of help.

Review 48:Welcome and general attitude of staff (Paul & Sonya).Splendid large comfortable bed. Fine breakfast

Review 49:We had booked the 4 people apartment with kitchen, however when wearrived, the owners simply told us that there was only a small doubleroom left. The room was small, the bathroom had not been cleanedproperly (hair everywhere). We had brought fresh food to cook in theapartment, but as we now had no kitchen we had to order pizza (25 eurosfor two pizzas!). The owners did not offer to let us use the kitchen inthe breakfast room. Also, there was no parking space for our fullypacked car. The owners told us to park the car on a steep hill nearby. We had arranged breakfast for 10h00 but had to wait until 11h00 becausethe owners had, again, made a mistake with the arrangements. Ourbreakfast was served on a table covered in breadcrumbs and other dirt .The butter, jam and cheese were shared with other guests, everyoneputting their used knives into the same jars. Very unhygienic! There wasno fresh coffee, just a thermal bottle. No eggs, meats, fruit. We feltvery uncomfortable in this hotel. It is a total rip-off and we hopepeople will refrain from booking it.

Review 50:We did not like anything about this place. We had booked the apartmentwith kitchen but were given a small unfinished room instead (the floorand walls in the bathroom were not done yet and it was damp!). There wasno parking space and the breakfast was minimal and served in anunhygienic manner. The owners were unhelpful and the hotel is totallyover-prized.

Review 51:No wastebin in bedroom - no hooks in bathroom

Review 52:Fantastic bed - great breakfast - hospitable hosts

Review 53:The location was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 54:I personally find spa baths rather un hygienic so would have preferred a shower.

Review 55:I liked the location and found the staff very helpful.

Review 56:The fact that we had only booked one night !

Review 57:Loved the view the comfort and the warm welcome of the owners

Review 58:Great location, modern facilitiy and very nice owners

Review 59:Very convenient to Ciboure and St Jean De Lutz you can walk to all ammenities. Very friendly

Review 60:Adequate breakfast, Parking could be an issue as it is very very steep. A little overpriced.

Review 61:Bathroom and bedroom modern and bright.

Review 62:Comfortable, good design with good taste.Good beds! Location great and avery friendly reception!

Review 63:Nothing

Review 64:Spacious room.Wonderful hostess. Good location

Review 65:Location good but next to a long-term building site. Rooms not finished and in no way private. Over priced.
