Reviews for Hôtel des Rochers

Review 1:No lift, so don't take a huge suitcase if you have a room on an upper floor. View from room and bathroom was worth the 60 stairs though!

Review 2:Situation is perfect, reception very good, English spoken by most staff, good dinner in hotel's popular restaurant.

Review 3:Nice hotel with a great restaurant. Our room was a little small, but very comfortable. Beautiful views of the water. Great location for hiking along the Granite Coast and to Perros-Guirec.

Review 4:No elevator so there are a lot of stairs to walk if you want a room with a view. Staff will help carry luggage up to your room.

Review 5:Staff was friendly. View was great at high tide and interesting at low tide. Enjoyed the incredible walk along the coast from here to Perros-Guirec- The Grand Site National De Ploumanac'h. Room was comfortable. Dinner at restaurant was good. Would stay here again.

Review 6:We were given a ground floor room which if you find stairs difficult was ideal. The hotel is beautiful, well appointed, well situated with superb food and fresh breakfast.

Review 7:definitely not, thoroughly recommended!

Review 8:wonderful! great location and very nice room. Even had a patio area to sit out on overlooking harbour (1st floor) which we werent expecting and was very nice. Thoroughly recommended. Food very high quality but a little too "nouveau cuisine" for us old gits!

Review 9:We only stayed one night!

Review 10:Great location and lovely hotel. Very modern room, spacious and comfortable. Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful, made us feel at home. Had excellent meal in the restaurant.

Review 11:The location was perfect, the room was fantastic, large with a private decking area and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly we will definitely be going back and would recommend 100%.

Review 12:The location was great, the room was big and comfortable. They left a small ag of cookies on the bed for us. It was lovely. We also booked a dinner reservation ahead of time and the meal was amazing!

Review 13:Had to manoeuvre luggage to see on floor.

Review 14:Friendly staff, comfortable and stylishly decorated rooms. Fine quisine in the restaurant. Delicious breakfast with freshly made fruit salad and good coffee.

Review 15:Nothing, without digging very deep!

Review 16:Our room was exceptional with a first floor view over the attractive port/bay. It was large and modern with one of the best ensuites we've experienced in France ( seventh trip). Thankfully we booked for dinner in the popular restaurant and experienced a superlative dining experience; I do mean superlative.

Review 17:The seating area outside our room was very bleak. It needed a coat of paint and some pot plants to brighten it up.

Review 18:The views from the hotel lounge were super. The restaurant provided an excellent supper, with delicious, well cooked and beautifully presented food.

Review 19:No receptionist on arrival had to use phone Restaurant seperate business At 9.00 pm Not possible to get a drink in restaurant or reception/breakfast area Restaurant told us to go to the square 15 min walk away

Review 20:Very comfortable hotel Breakfast excellent Location superb

Review 21:lack of a lift

Review 22:spacious stylish room with wonderful view from window; excellent breakfast in lovely breakfast room with similar views, very pleasant & friendly staff, in lovely general area with several places of interest nearby

Review 23:The best part for us was our room. (Room 30). Gorgeous view of the small harbor, top floor, good air circulation with a possibility of 5 windows to open. Away from the bustle of Perros Guirec and a block away from the famous Pink Granite coast walk. Highly recommended. Get Room 30!

Review 24:nothing

Review 25:We had an excellent large room on the top floor with a view from all windows of which there were 5. Lovely meal in the hotel our first evening. They even left lovely local biscuits in our room.

Review 26:Our room at the back of the hotel was a bit dark and there is no lift.

Review 27:Located on the GR34 walking route with easy access to the best of the pink granite coastline. Loved the breakfast served looking out over the harbour.

Review 28:Odd smell in room/bathroom - could have been down to newness, or a visit by a cat...Wifi pretty much non-existent, perhaps rear of hotel not well fitted with APs? Staff a bit hit and miss, some great, some bored

Review 29:nice & quiet room at rear of hotel. Comfy bed, great shower, TV etc. Seemed almost as if we were first to use it. Great meals and views from restaurant.

Review 30:The location on the edge of the secluded harbour at Ploumenac'h feels very calm and isolated compared to the busy and touristic Perros Guirec. There is a very good coastal path with plenty of little coves and more dramatic rocky headlands. The rooms are beautifully styled and most have views over the harbour. The restaurant is superb and all of the hotel staff were very helpful and speak good English.

Review 31:Nothing, although the stairs may be a problem for the less fit.

Review 32:The position of the hotel was great, looked over the port and was right next to the start of a beautiful walk along the Rose granite coastline Food was excellent.

Review 33:I cannot think of anything to say here!

Review 34:The position of the hotel is very good. You can easily access the walk around that section of the pink granite coast, which is very beautiful. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel runs an excellent restaurant and if you wish, it is a short walk to other restaurants in St. Guirec. There were other nice touches which were a surprise and very thoughtful. There is no hotel parking but there is a lot of free public parking outside.

Review 35:The triple room was a double bed and a bed that folded out from a chair. When we declined these arrangements and one of us went to another hotel, we were charged for a triple room anyway.

Review 36:Location and friendly staff

Review 37:Stairs are a bit of a struggle. Hotel is definitely in Ploumanac'h, not really Perros as advertised. Filming was taking place during our visit, we were warned that the Restaurant would be closed, but we also felt very in the way- car parking was used up by crew and stagelights on until late. Even parts of the hotel being disassembled !!

Review 38:The view is amazing, the breakfast room is light ,airy and shares the view! Staff are courteous and friendly.

Review 39:Not quite finished. No extractor in bathroom or wifi in our room but am sure it will all soon be in place!

Review 40:Fabulous views from the restaurant and breakfast room over the harbour and position on the quayside with the coastal walk very close. Very quiet. Loved the sun balcony attached to our room.

Review 41:We enjoyed a 3 night stay here in August 2013. That was rather more successful than our 4 night stay in August 2014. This time we were given a top floor double room, and the standard is not the same. There are I think 11 steps up from pavement level to reception, and then a further 56 steps to the top floor, and no lift. There is no secondary means of escape from the top floor. The staircase leading to it is an open wooden structure with no fire proof lobbies in the stair well. There are fire doors at each landing, and these were closed at night. The room had one hard chair and a table which you might describe as a desk, a wardrobe with a hanging rail and a single shelf on which were additional bedding and pillows. There was a small shelf each side of the bed. There was no stand or other furniture on which to place a suitcase, and no drawers into which to unpack. The windows to the room and bathroom are smaller than in the lower rooms. They are double glazed and have no provision for securing in a partly open position. They are either locked closed, or open, free and blowing in the wind. Fortunately we devised a means of jamming a window partially open with a rolled up towel, so that we could have ventilation at night. The advertising material says that “Free WiFi is available in all rooms.” Is it? We had great difficulty connecting at all in the room, and the receptionist brought a lap top up to the room to demonstrate how she could connect. When this still proved unsuccessful she advised that we should descend with the lap top to the first floor where we would be able to connect without difficulty, and then return to the top floor. We did this and it worked. We told the receptionist that we found the room unacceptable not least because I had to undertake professional work over the internet while there, so reliable communication was essential.

Review 42:The hotel was clean and quiet. It has an excellent, picturesque, quiet position. The breakfasts are really good. The restaurant offers meals of a very high standard at reasonable prices, but you need to book as it is very popular with non-residents. I have read a couple of reviews of the restaurant complaining of bad service, bad food, and bad value for money wine. We did not experience any of that. Our experience of the restaurant was the opposite to those reviews.

Review 43:Make sure to see the pink granite coast. This was a quaint hotel well run as a modern business. The room and facilities were large, clean, and comfortable.

Review 44:No air conditioning.

Review 45:The lovely suite, clean and designed to look like a cabin on a ship. The water front position. Quality of the food in the restaurant.

Review 46:Given how good the restaurant is, the 10 euro breakfast was disappointing and overpriced.

Review 47:The hotel is comfortable, clean and quiet. The sea view rooms are worth getting. The restaurant serves wonderful meals with a terrific view of the harbor. A great hotel near the Sentiers des Douaniers walk on the Pink Granite coast.

Review 48:Got the impression it was in Perros Guirac so found it hard to locate. It is in Plumanach which although technically PG is quite separate. probably our fault!

Review 49:Very good welcome, all services spot on, food imaginative well presented and served. Staff clearly well trained.

Review 50:not so clean and tidy as expected (hair on the bed and in the bathroom), strange smell in the room especially in the bathroom, no fridge, only french tv channels, rooms are not cosy

Review 51:very friendly staff, great location directly at the harbour

Review 52:The hotel has no lounge and has a large balcony on the 1st floor which had great views but lacked cushions for loungers and the large sun shade was damaged which mean't we did not use as it was too hot without shade. This could so easily be made into a nice amenity.

Review 53:Hotel is in a lovely position overlooking the harbour. Rooms are on the small side but very clean and bathroom modern with an excellent shower. The restaurant is excellent as long as you like fish and seafood which we do. Staff were very pleasant, helpful and efficient.

Review 54:The negative comments about it they are very very unfair i would say to people dont be put off by them

Review 55:Everything it was fantastic for the walks and exploring would stay here all the time if in area. Yes the hotel does not have a lift i am waiting for a hip operation and did not find stairs a problem they are shallow and easy to climb

Review 56:The only complaint we have is the polished wooden stairs leading to our bedroom was very slippery to the point we would only go down them with bare feet. An accident waiting to happen.

Review 57:The hotel was good, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. The food was excellent.

Review 58:Beautiful room with lovely view, nespresso coffee machine much appreciated and superb drench shower - (room 10)

Review 59:The weather!!

Review 60:situation was excellent. The staff were friendly . Excellent food on site. Will visit again.

Review 61:Tea sets have not been cleaned and supplied.

Review 62:Spacious room and study area of the room.

Review 63:Getting a coffee sometimes difficult

Review 64:Brilliant location and attached to a very good restaurant

Review 65:Consideration, friendline

Review 66:Lovely location and friendly staff. Will go for a marina view next time .... and a longer stay.

Review 67:room a bit dark

Review 68:the location

Review 69:Staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

Review 70:finding the place at the begging

Review 71:breakfast ,bed, car parking

Review 72:For the money a bit Spartan. No tissues and no useful mirror for ladies makeup in the main bedroom. Nasty soap dispenser

Review 73:Superb location

Review 74:This is a very welcoming hotel in a beautiful location. The food was delicious and excellent value for money. We would definitely return.

Review 75:Proximity to the coastal footpath and the restaurant in the same building as the hotel.

Review 76:Avoid the restaurant! The prices were high and the meal was simply awful...

Review 77:The view and location were perfect.

Review 78:The Strawberry and tomato pudding. Very spacious and well appointed room. The position of the hotel and the good view from its restaurant.

Review 79:Large room, lovely bed

Review 80:Nothing!

Review 81:The rooms are spacious with bath and shower. Outside terrace area upstairs and outside the front of the hotel. Modern interior

Review 82:Very friendly front desk hostess.

Review 83:Great hotel! great place! a giant room with all necessary!

Review 84:loved the excellent dinner

Review 85:At 74 4 floors are not easy each time one goes to the room

Review 86:Everything but a 4th floor room

Review 87:Nothing

Review 88:Everything

Review 89:Bedroom style and level of comfort.great food Relaxedand stylish surroundings

Review 90:Perfect location with gorgeous walks from the front door. Rooms (we had bay view suite) were comfortable with wonderful views.

Review 91:Friendliness, unobtrusive efficiency, comfort, location.

Review 92:A delightful hotel in a wonderful location. We would thoroughly recommend it. The restaurant is a particular highlight of a stay here.

Review 93:One of the best hotels I have stayed at. Excelent room, beautiful location.

Review 94:Totally beautiful location and wonderful food

Review 95:Dodgy wifi reception in most location

Review 96:Great location and large clean modern rooms. Excellent restaurant on site

Review 97:No lift

Review 98:Location View over harbour Restaurant flexible for dairy free diet requirements Friendly staff Handled early check in ok

Review 99:View from the room The local area Breakfast Staff hospitality standards

Review 100:The only real grumble is that wi-fi only worked for us in reception, and not even in the outside bar area. The generally very high standard of our room 3 meant that a couple of things stood out as needed to make it excellent rather than very good. There was no full length mirror, and the towels were a bit skimpy. A small fridge would be useful in the summer months. None of these are a big deal but might jar in a stay of a week or more.

Review 101:Delightful small port location with adjacent access to footpaths and beaches, and five minutes by car from town facilities. Restaurant food was excellent and good value. Breakfast was good Continental with a slight variation on each of two mornings of our stay. Room 3 was very comfortable in a recent extension with an outside sun trap area. There is no air conditioning but closing the electric shutters on the windows and outside door kept most of the 26 degree heat out during our stay. This is definitely a hotel to visit again, despite a few minor negatives.

Review 102:Not like is too strong a description but having to climb four flights to our room was sometimes a test especially after a good dinner!

Review 103:All the staff were extremely friendly and profesional and the coastal path past the hotel is well worth taking advantage of.

Review 104:Fire escape option from top floor not provided, and you're quite a height up there ... though there is possible easy egress to an adjoining flat roof via currently unused/unlocked store rooms, which soothed my concerns somewhat. Pity no small fridge provided in suite, for milk etc, though only a small point. We had to ask for milk for our tea/coffee-making facilities, though this was readily supplied. Hold your shower gel etc in your teeth in the shower ... no tray/holder provided.. but a nice shower anyway. No phone in room... not a problem (mobile reception good) but obviously no-one would want to provide room service up 60 steps either!

Review 105:This is a typical French family-style hotel and restaurant, centred around the restaurant. Friendly, helpful, good food and pleasant continental-style breakfasts. Our top-floor suite was spacious and comfortable, with great views of the port/harbour and surrounds, but only for the reasonably fit and healthy (60 steps!/3 flights of stairs, and no lift!). Overall, very pleasant, but don't expect 4-5* big-hotel facilities.

Review 106:The most beautiful setting overlooking the port, friendly helpful staff, comfortable rooms recently done up, excellent restaurant - excellent value and worth more than 2 *.

Review 107:The room is very little. "Sea view" - is not actually "sea", but a little bay with plenty of boats lying on the sand. If you want to hear sea and look at fantastic stones - it's not a right place.

Review 108:Over-priced i.e.6 euros for tea for two and not even made with boiling water. The food in the restaurant was so aweful it was laughable, and the wine was a rip-off - 28 euros for a not very good example of wine we can get for 8 euros in shops, and 22 euros for another we like and buy for around 5 euros. Pork oozing blood, and a bolshy waitress (on the Saturday night) who insisted we had to order pud when we ordered the rest of our food. Service had been better on the Friday night, but sadly the food had not, although my husband's fish soup was very good. You need a copy of the french and english menus as the french is puzzling and the english is totally baffling. The words 'half-baked' appear a lot, and I thought it probably summed up the chef!

Review 109:Very friendly, comfortable bed. Easy to park outside. Quiet area.

Review 110:Great service and food. Suite was fantastic and finished to a great standard. Area was far nicer that the center of town. Come out of the hotel and turn right for a great walk, nice food in hotel by sea in Saint Gerret

Review 111:The stairway was rather noisy in the late evening with guests going to their rooms. It rather echoed.

Review 112:The friendly and helpful owner/receptionist who spoke excellent English. The fresh and modern design of the refurbishment

Review 113:There is no kettle or fridge in the rooms.

Review 114:The rooms with access to the deck overlooking the sea are great for getting together with friends in the evening. The staff were helpful but not intrusive. The rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable.

Review 115:Room could have been bigger as we stayed for 9 days At time of booking wasn't aware the Hotel had suites

Review 116:The location The view The Staff The Restaurant Not necessarily in that order

Review 117:Everything. The staff, the rooms, the food, the view. Everything is excellent. It is our second stay with the same great experience and we will come back again.

Review 118:Restaurant choices near the hotel were very limited.

Review 119:We stayed in the suite on the top floor, so that colors my review a bit,as we had a beautiful and huge room with gorgeous views. It was alovely, charming hotel with a great (though often over-booked)restaurant.

The Fine Print
