Reviews for Aux XIII Arches

Review 1:Would highly recommend this hotel. Spent 3 nights here and had a fantastic time. Ate in the restaurant at lunch time and evening and food and service were excellent. The room was stunning - clean, decor in excellent condition and lovely sea views. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 2:No wifi in the apartment although there was free wifi in the restaurant which was a short walk away. The spiral staircase was a little dangerous for children and you had to be very careful with each footing.

Review 3:Very nice apartment on the first floor which was clean and well equipped. Not got it's own parking but luckily there are spaces quite near. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom with shower had a hairdryer and modern fittings. Also very clean. Food in restaurant was excellent with a lot of fresh seafood and fish on the menu.

Review 4:We booked a table but the receptionist failed to note the booking, this led to an embarrassing incident when we arrived for dinner. Very disappointed with being charged full room price for cancellation caused by wife admission to hospital. In effect we paid twice for our visit Booking. Com website confusing there was a charge for cancellation.

Review 5:High quality room and excellent food

Review 6:The location was excellent, the premises were quirky, clean, and comfortable. The restaurant was probably the best meal we had on our 17day trip. The staff were very friendly and with us having very little French they were very helpful.

Review 7:Wifi not in room

Review 8:Accomadation great, staff okay but so busy, could have been better. Wifi works at restaurant of hotel but as accommodation is seperate from restaurant, it doesn't work in comfort of you're room

Review 9:The apartment is advertised for 5 adults. However, for 2 of these adults the bed is a fold out couch in the kitchen/diner/lounge. My husband had a really bad back the day after sleeping in this fold-out bed, quite uncomfortable. Also, seating for 2 at a tiny shelf "breakfast bar", seating for 4 at a dining table suited to 2, and seating for 4 in lounge/bedroom. One bathroom, this property is really too small to accommodate 5 adults comfortably. Also, no wifi and the TV was not working.

Review 10:The location and dinner in the restaurant was delicious.

Review 11:Lack of mirrors in bedrooms, needs improved selection of crockery (larger coffee/tea cups. Table could be bigger. No wifi in rooms.

Review 12:Good location, cleanliness, Good selection of shops, fab Tuesday market. Friendly people. No problem parking.

Review 13:Restaurant closed on a Thursday. Not made known on website.

Review 14:Beautiful location. Quiet and peaceful with the proximity to village amenities and coastal walks.

Review 15:When we arrived the whole place was closed and we had to ring to contact the owners. As it was June there were no bar or restaurant facilities either. Only choice of two other restaurants open in town.

Review 16:Modern clean spacious townhouse set in a beautiful quaint village. Ideal as a stop off to break the journey back up to Cherbourg.

Review 17:Very comfortable wide double bed. Electric blinds. Very modern in white with everything we needed for a two day break-very clean almost new with lovely real light wood & private entrance.

Review 18:The owner/manager seemed too busy to spend time welcoming us We left felt marginalised in the restaurant The breakfast was mediocre

Review 19:The room was lovely The location was great

Review 20:Checking in was a nightmare as it was a Monday out of season. The restaurant is shut in March despite what the notes on booking.com says so it's a shame.

Review 21:Optional breakfast was good.

Review 22:One minor quibble only. No chopping board in the kitchen.

Review 23:Very good friendly staff and a fantastic restaurant. Located in a lovely village within easy driving distance from Cherbourg. The apartment was very spacious, comfortable and warm. This was our second time to stay there and we were not disappointed. Will definitely be returning again soon.

Review 24:Tables too small in hotel restaurant. Slight smell of sewage in our bedroom so plumbing needs some attention!

Review 25:Very nice clean room, and being able to look out to sea while lying in bed was such a luxury! Having meals on the sheltered terrace.

Review 26:We were looking forward to dinner in the restaurant, only to find that it's closed on Mondays. Bar fridge in the room, but it was empty, and no drinking water provided...could have done with some cool drinks

Review 27:Good breakfast, shower was fantastic. Setting is really beautiful

Review 28:two nights of very broken sleep. i expected a bit of noise from the bar until 11 or midnight but was kept awake by the staff tidying and turning a tap on and off seemingly every 3 seconds which was creating an almighty noise. and was kept awake until the staff finished chatting outside (very audible) at 02:10. second night (the room is lovely) the bar was shut so i thought jackpot. but no. tuesday is market day and lorries were turning up and unloading right outside the room at 04:00 (no exaggeration) if your a heavy sleeper it'd be brilliant. if not, take a chance its a lovely location and lovely staff and amazing food. but take some earplugs.

Review 29:amazing room. incredible in fact. beautifully laid out spacious and with an view to die for. food was exceptional too.

Review 30:The service wasn't brilliant and there seemed a lack of attention to detail eg there were no toiletries in our room, only one chair to sit on despite it being a large room, 1 small pillow each on the bed. The staff at check in we're quite off hand. We could see they were busy but would have expected a warmer welcome. At check in we were asked if we wanted to book a table for dinner. We weren't sure at that stage but told this wasn't a problem as they were not too busy. In the end we decided to eat in the hotel only to be told that they could only accommodate us outside; it was freezing so we declined and had a very good meal across the road from the hotel. Their loss as we noticed there were empty tables after all!

Review 31:The location of the hotel is great and our room had a lovely sea view; hence the rating. Breakfast was good if served a little late from 8.30.

Review 32:There are 2 rooms above the restaurant/bar and the outside seating area, which made it a bit noisy.

Review 33:Location is excellent. Lovely views. Great walks along the beach. Restaurant/bar with very good local produce.

Review 34:The restaurant is really the main focus, they have a few apartments close by that they rent out but it's not a hotel. There is parking other than public spaces which is a bit hit or a miss.

Review 35:Restaurant was excellent, we had a wonderful meal and the breakfast was exceptional. The apartment was clean and well appointed.

Review 36:Added cost of sterling / credit card amount added to bill. No one carries cash around anymore yet get charged £13 for paying by card and from a sterling account.

Review 37:Space and kitchen area of apartment. Restaurant really good

Review 38:It is a little inconvenient to take a laptop into the dining room to access the internet. The only thing I would like is access to wifi from the bedrooms.

Review 39:Very nice little b and b. Room was a sea view, but only if you looked through the Velux window, also up two flights of stairs, it didnt bother us but its with requesting lower floor. Accommodation was outside the restaurant around the corner. Restaurant nice and very popular. Breakfast was ok. Hired bikes to get around, nice location. quiet village except on Tuesday mornings for the market, nice stay in all.

Review 40:Fridge did not work. No tea making facilities had to get coffee's from main bar.

Review 41:Lovely Hotel wish we could have spent more time and had a meal. Room was clean and brand new I think. Interesting and tranquil location.

Review 42:wardrobe rather small could not hang clothes of any length

Review 43:very modern comfortable apartment lovely bathroom all set in the heart of a busy French village superb food in the restaurant

Review 44:This is a perfect place to stay! Very friendly staff, extremely nice food and a perfect terras. Located in the middle of the small village, away from too much tourisme and close enough to the landing beaches. Highly recommended!

Review 45:Everything was great.

Review 46:Room was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully designed. Clean, welcoming and comfortable.

Review 47:Hired apartment and facilities and rooms are excellent. Pity that no wifi access but British TV channel compensates it!

Review 64:Can't honestly say there was anything we could fault

Review 65:Fabulous room, view across estuary, amazing tides. Very helpful staffwho put up with my valiant attempts to converse in french! Lovely food.

Review 66:rooms upstairs are better than downstairs (we had both travelling with 2 teenagers), would have expect some dairies for breakfast

Review 67:originality of the chef cuisine, home made jam and pastry for breakfast, home made rums... simple but fresh and interesting design, amazing location

Review 68:Nothing to dislike

Review 69:Excellent hotel in a beautiful village, perfect base for our short break. Staff very friendly and room was very modern and clean, and although on the ground floor was easy to make private with the electric door and window shutters. Good restaurant and bars within 5 minutes walk and beautiful scenery. The perfect short break only 30 minutes by car from Cherbourg Ferry Terminal

Review 70:Perfect for us ( 2 people ) but the 5 bed apartment ( no 3 )might be a struggle with 5 as only 1 bathroom which is off the lounge wher 2 would sleep on a sofa bed.

Review 71:Fabulous food, great accommodation , clean and modern , really comfy bed.

Review 72:The room we were given was brand new and lovely, the only problem was that it was up three flights of stairs which were spiral, I am 65yrs and not as agile as I was so I would not recommend this room to anyone with a mobility problem.

Review 73:The staff were friendly and helpful, Food was very good, room was lovely (see other side). Thought it was a bit pricey 2nights dinner BB for two over €400
