Reviews for Hôtel Saint Albert
Review 1:Staff was very helpful and made our stay comfortable. Really enjoyed the bar for coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. Very convenient location.
Review 2:The first receptionist was not very friendly but the others were fine. The room was quite expensive and not very clean. But the breakfast was good and the bar was nice.
Review 3:Even though we paid 10 extra euros over and above booking price for larger room on advice of reception the room was very small and shower had no curtain. Annoying!
Review 4:Great location. Nice staff. Fantastic little pizza/Italian place within a block run by two older Italian gents.
Review 5:Worn and dingy bedspread, no air conditioning or elevator. Skimpy, threadbare towels.
Review 6:Great location in the heart of Sarlat. Nice desk clerk, Frederica.
Review 7:Friendly staff, brilliant location very near the Main Street and old town. Simple room, with TV, wifi and ensuit, on the small side but it was fine for the one night we stayed.
Review 8:The rooms were a bit too old and small, and the receptionist received us with a "reception is closed at night, if you forget your key you will sleep outside", not exactly a great way to receive (paying) guests!
Review 9:It's very well located, especially if you have a car. It's only 5 min walk to the old town, which is beautiful especially at night
Review 10:Top floor room was a death pit. No ac but also no air circulation, mywife and I became sick from the lack of air circulation. This room andothers like it should not be allowed to be occupied in summer months.
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:No fire escape, no instructions in what to do in case of fire. Rooms had polystyrene ceiling tiles. Rooms very small and cramped. No aircon and it was stifling. Staff smoking inside.
Review 13:the town was well worth a visit
Review 14:Unfortunately, we arrived in a heat wave, and we then realised there was no A/C in our room. There was an A/C unit the the breakfast room but wasn't on, it was stifling but we were able to sit outside to have our breakfast. Slightly disingenuous to be described as a 'superior queen double', as the room and bathroom was quite cramped. We were given a 6 euro discount, not sure why.
Review 15:Location to town centre
Review 16:No air conditioning , this would be good as it can get pretty hot in this part of France
Review 17:Easy access to Sarlat on foot Car park opposite hotel Good breakfast Value for money
Review 18:Lack of vegetarian options on the menu. I know the regional cuisine is very meat based but a few options would have been welcomed.
Review 19:Friendly staff & well appointed hotel. It is a bit out of the village but worth it for the view of Najac castle. Really peaceful spot
Review 20:Rooms are small but for us this was not a problem and any deficits were well and truly made up but the host and the breakfast . The host spoke excellent english and was very helpful. We loved it.
Review 21:Could not get a drink in the bar as it closed!! Bedrooms a little tired, but the rest of the hotel was chic !
Review 22:That the staff where friendly and helpful !!
Review 23:Why put us in the corner room at the third floor when there's no one other than us checked in.
Review 24:The location is quite close to the town. Wifi worked well even if we stayed in corner room far away from the building's center.
Review 25:Bed uncomfortable with no view. Bath would not empty leaving cold water meaning I could not shower in the morning. At £59 not including breakfast I would expect much better
Review 26:Location
Review 27:On the first night we found the manager/owner? at reception courteous. On leaving I was told by her to 'shoosh' ie be quiet as I was managing my cases down the difficult (old & narrow) staircase. No offer was made to assist. Her manner on checkout was very frosty and unfriendly. Other staff we met were friendly & courteous
Review 28:As we were travelling by train the hotel was in a perfect location as we did not have far to pull our cases. It was then a pleasant 5-10 minute walk into the town. There was a supermarket between the bridge crossover and the tourist office alongside the river. And of course plenty if restaurants to choose from. We did not eat at the hotel la Breche. The hotel itself is quaint, the rooms well appointed, clean and smell fresh on entering. There is a lovely walled garden to sit in. Our room faced the street and had a lot if traffic noise on the first night but not on the second. Maybe the traffic had been diverted down this street on that night for some reason?
Review 29:Street noise (not bad at night with the windows closed) 25 steps up to first floor a challenge for 86-year old mother No dedicated parking. Space was available about a block away.
Review 30:Close to Sarlat Centre Ville Patient, helpful staff Comfortable bed Extra pillows Genuine French hotel character Comfortable lounge area
Review 31:We were offered upgrade on room on internet but not sure if that was an upgraded room we got!!! New fluffy towels would be nice.
Review 32:Location good. Good parking available nearby. Staff friendly and hotel clean. Good breakfast.
Review 33:Our room was quite tiny and the fan on a stand did not work. Without A/C, the room was stuffy. We slept with the window open which helped.
Review 34:We enjoyed the convenient location and the pretty town of Sarlat. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and kind to us.
Review 35:Rooms facing the street and Parking Place are very noisy - even at night. Almost no sleep No inhouse Bar/Restaurant Sarlat is a very touristic little town with many Tour buses during the day - lack of authentic atmosphere
Review 36:Central location Nice old Hotel Friendly staff
Review 37:Room quite small, with not a lot of space around bed area.
Review 38:In quiet area. Has a car park directly opposite if you check in on a Sunday its free for 24hrs.
Review 39:Arrived at 2.30 pm & our room not ready. We had booked 2 nights on booking. Com just 2 days prior to our arrival, but when we explained that we had to get back to Paris earlier , so therefore we had to cancel a night, we were made to feel like criminals & the man on reception grumbled that booking. Com takes 20%. We paid for 2 nights despite only staying one night. When leaving I asked the girl on reception what we could do for the morning she sent us to the wine museum which was closed that day. When I asked her to recommend a restaurant for lunch with modern food she had no restaurant recommendation & with a gesture of bored resignation said. " you are in Beaune"! All in all we would not recommend this hotel; very arrogant and not at all welcoming. Perhaps it was because we had booked the economical room. I wish I had found a chambre d'hote!
Review 40:Hotel was in a great location just a very short walk from the medieval town. There is parking opposite if you can find a space although plenty of car parks around which can be busy when you visit in height of season. Beds really comfortable and rooms basic but nice and clean. Would use this hotel again.
Review 41:Needs more air conditioning in hot weather but you'll live!
Review 42:Convenient location, helpful, friendly staff and love the 1664! (that's refreshing beer from the bar)
Review 43:Room was small and shabby. No lift
Review 44:The water taps were leaking. One could not turn on a single bedside Lamp.

Review 46:one staff member at reception very good, bar good, value for money

Review 49:Room smells smoking, noisy from street, no ac
Review 50:Location, cleanliness, breakfast
Review 51:Very friendly staff. Value for money.
Review 52:Nowhere in the bathroom to hang anything on
Review 53:Helpfulness with tours
Review 54:Carrying bags up stairs No english language tv channel No kettle and cups or ironing board.
Review 55:Location Bath Room size Quiet
Review 56:ants in one of the bedrooms. dirty shower curtain and door frame to bathroom grubby.
Review 57:easy access a nice wine bar to relax in
Review 58:Bathroom cleanliness was poor; overall poor maintenance; more a one star rather than a two star.
Review 59:Breakfast was basic
Review 60:Great location
Review 61:No facilities in the bedroom - not even a hair dryer.
Review 62:The position
Review 63:No air con or parking
Review 64:Location and staff
Review 65:No air and small room
Review 66:Breakfast
Review 67:Tacky. Definitely not worth 78e / n when other hotels are much better value. Breakfast poor.
Review 68:Clean linen
Review 69:Nothing not to like
Review 70:Room too hot
Review 71:Cozy
Review 72:The bedrooms need hairdryers!!
Review 73:Loved the deco and the comfortable feeling. Rooms good sizes and beds comfortable.
Review 74:No air conditioning but fan provided
Review 75:Location great,
Review 76:Loved this hotel. Great location. Staff very friendly
Review 77:Wifi was a bit hit and miss for logging on
Review 78:Location good. Easy to park in car park opposite even in August
Review 79:central location, friendly staff, bar atmosphere relaxed, good breakfast
Review 80:Expensive for what you get plus no parking
Review 81:Good staff
Review 82:Rooms a bit small and tired . In need of a makeover.
Review 83:Nothing everything was fine
Review 84:Central location, friendly helpful staff, good value for money
Review 85:Narrow beds [a bit less wide than a normal 'single']. No elevator [but we knew that ahead of time, still an elevator would have been nice for people with arthritis - we chose it for charm, price and location].
Review 86:Lovingly and charmingly decorated. Comfortable. Good bathroom. Good pillows.
Review 87:The hot water supply was erratic. We were not able to take showers during our 2 night stay.
Review 88:Friendly and helpful staff, e.g., recommendations for restaurants.
Review 89:Booked a Superior double room ! If this was superior I would hate to have stayed in a standard room. The room was basic and just like the hotel very tired loooking. My bathroom was full of cobwebs. Is this a feature of this hotel as I cant see how the cleaner could have missed them. The only toiletries in the bathroom was a small bar of soap. We came back from the town at 22-10 and they were shutting the bar. Would have been nice to have served us a drink but they refused. So back to the town we went.
Review 90:The location of the hotel was excellent with a short walk to the town centre. There was parking opposite and plenty of other places to park over night. The check-in staff were polite and friendly.
Review 91:The hotel was adequate for our short stay with the staff being helpful and the location convenient. However I would just like recommend that during the hot days in summer, that a fan be supplied for each room. If it hadn't been for the kindness of one of the staff, we would have been very uncomfortable in the night with the heat. It was very much appreciated that the fan was given to us from the reception area each night at closing up time. And the only other constructive criticism that I would like to make is that the dead pot plants and the algae filled tub of water on the terrace outside numerous rooms be removed. It was quite unattractive to open the window to see this 'carnage'. I do understand that it has been a long hot summer, but NO pot plants are better than dead ones!
Review 92:Very hot in summer - no air con and had to ask for a fan (and hair dryer) but happily supplied. Double bed was 2 singles put together which my partner found uncomfortable. Very noisy with window open
Review 93:Central location to explore the Dordogne. Close to the old part of Sarlat. Staff spoke good English and were very helpful. Our room was not old and tired as some reviews have mentioned. The bedroom had lovely wallpapered/painted walls and very new bathroom. Great shower.
Review 94:No on site car parking so we parked our car at the free car park up beside the city gardens (7 minute walk away). Wasn't an issue but it took us a little time to find the carpark.
Review 95:Good location within walking distance of the town. Check in doesn't open until 4pm so just make sure you aren't overly early. Hotel interior was nice and room was fine for the price. Breakfast was continental.
Review 96:Charming room Friendly staff Willingness to adjust our reservation afterthe cancellation deadline due to rescheduled itinerary after a passporttheft in Paris Delicious coffee in the hotel restaurant
Review 97:Lack of guest friendliness-they need to be more accommodating. Noisy/stuffy rooms/lousy beds. Could do with a good overhaul in public rooms too.
Review 98:Not much to like. Good but noisy location. Convenience to village market/shops/restaurants
Review 99:Ordinary double room is... "okay" and very small. Nothing is really wrong with it but it's just not what wa've expected looking on pictures of this old-fashioned building. Bathroom door lock didn't function and room door handle sometimes fell off. No hairdryer in the room (we had to ask for one).
Review 100:Location is good (the city is very small so this should be applicable for most hotels), big public parking (free at night) right in front of the hotel. The staff was extremely helpful. Breakfast is ok and worth its 8e for 1 person.
Review 101:Near to the back road so there was a bit of noise from trucks early in the morning.
Review 102:Very friendly staff and clean rooms. Couldn't ask for me. Good value for money.
Review 103:The bus from the station to town was not running so we had a difficult walk into town.
Review 104:The location in the town centre was great... Walked everywhere we needed to. Great breakfast and good plate du jour when we arrived.
Review 105:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Recommended good restaurants. Sarlat is a fantastic place to go and St Albert is well located with a parking lot outside.
Review 106:No lift. Very hard for older persons to carry luggage up many flightsof stairs.
Review 107:The bed!! Best in Europe I swear. Very convenient if you come by busfrom Souillac train station. Don't get off at Sarlat station andthe bus will bring you right into the town. Bus stop is opposite thehotel. Great.
Review 108:Room comfortable, bathroom big, staff friendly and good. All in good and pleasant stay
Review 109:First class welcome after a long day cycling, excellent breakfast

Review 113:The bedspread was a little drity and torn.
Review 114:Friendly staff and good breakfast layout.
Review 115:We were able to walk to everything.
Review 116:Nothing.
Review 117:Very convenient for Sarat old town. Lots of character and pleasant and friendly staff.
Review 118:Room noisy and hot
Review 119:A bit pricey,
Review 120:stairs, noisy, no air conditioning, parking difficult
Review 121:the best croissants ever, good coffee and only a block from medieval town
