Reviews for Desert Nights Camp
Review 1:nothing
Review 2:Very good location if you want to enjoy beautiful desert sands. The camp provides very good services and interesting extra activities such as quad, trekking... A wonderful stay...
Review 3:Nothing...
Review 4:Excellent experience in the desert. Complimentary activities are sufficient: camels within the camp and sunset drive. Stars watching at midnight was incredible!!!
Review 5:Someone needs to help them improve the quality of the hummus served! It tastes like it's out of a can! Been there twice in 2 years and this is the only major complaint, however =) Minor issue: Since previous visit, the bathroom fixtures have deteriorated and require maintenance or replacement.
Review 6:Good food, great lineup of activities, all but 1 staff member in the restaurant were great.
Review 7:staff attempting to sell overpriced activities from the moment we arrived, which didn't feel appropriate given that this is an expensive camp in the first place. Food was ok at best - would have been nice to sample more Bedouin or Omani cuisine rather than the range of lazy western and Indian food they offer
Review 8:Beautiful location and easily the most luxurious desert camp in this area - staff were consistently friendly and polite
Review 9:Staff excellent, the rooms were a lovely surprise with good beds and bathroom and sitting room. Good to offer a range of activities as there is nothing to do except go on them. Loved the Sunset on the dunes. Food was good considering the type of place we were in.
Review 10:Great spot to stop during yr journey in Oman. Nice camp between two long and high dunes. Make sure you do not miss sunset and sunrise. In the morning take your 4x4 with low pressure and drive further, pass the next camp and have fun away from civilisation. Dont go to far though, as yr tyre may slip of the wheel if you drive to agressively. Food is nice, tents are clean. Do not expect 5*. But do not worry. The quality is ok. I would not stay longer than 1 night.
Review 11:Beautiful camp, with very good facilities. The staff was very helpful, the food was good, and the access to the camp easy with a 4WD. Activities are very fun and well organized.
Review 12:We stayed in 24, which is next to one of the roads, and during the night we were woken by high speed vehicles passing by, which sounds like a train!
Review 13:The evening trip to go to the top of the dunes to watch the sunset - you can find your own area and its like being just on your own, and you can walk back down rather than wait for the car. They supply soft drinks, a good camera is a must, and yes you do need 4WD car for the trip from the main road to the camp (around 14km of sandy road, but easy to see and stay on.
Review 14:My room was VERY noisy. I stayed at the room number 1, close to the "road" and all night long I heared cars passing by. Something that I didnt expect to have in a desert.
Review 15:The room is very confortable: air conditioner, very clean and confortable.
Review 16:This turn around it was quite disappointing. In general no real value for money. We didn't had hot water because of some technical problem and when we provided feedback we just heard lots of excuses and no apology. Also, the food was of poor quality as compared to previous years.
Review 17:Very nice place
Review 18:Went in the off-season (September) and very quiet with nothing happening to let guests see local culture at the camp or get guests to mix. Free evening sunset trip to top of local dunes was not good (cloudy) and very windy (always windy in evenings off-season) so getting sand blasted.
Review 19:1hr 4x4 desert drive was excellent value - driver was amazing. Menu choices better than what we had expected.
Review 20:-It's only accesable by 4 wheel drive!!! -Activities very much overpriced. 100$ + per person is not very uncommon. -If you want to stay there only over, one night is more than enough.
Review 21:-Unique Location -A lot of activities -Alcohol available -once in a lifetime experience
Review 22:there was a little light pollution that made it hard to do serious stargazing. overall the package (inclusive of dinner and breakfast) is excellent, but the extras can add up.
Review 23:exquisite camp with attentive, helpful, and friendly staff. tents were luxe. this isn't camping; it's glamping, and that's OK. it's worth the money.
Review 24:Had the bad lucky to have noisy people in the closer tent but it's not a resort fault. They should have more attention for foods. The quality is not 5* ...
Review 25:Is a true 5* hotel but in the middle of the desert.every comfort from A/C to a very comfortable bed. The tent is very clean.
Review 26:Dinner - the cook is Nepalese and the owners are Sri Lankan and we're in the Omani desert. So Arabic, Sri Lankan or Nepalese food would be great. But why make a sort of pseudo-Euro-continental effort at a 4-course dinner? No, that's a fail
Review 27:Glamping in the desert
Review 28:The free camel ride was only 10 minutes (therefore we did not do it) The path to reach the hotel is sandy and tricky in places for non 4x4 vehicules. Even with an AWD, I had to use manual gear and deflate the tyres, and was afraid to get stuck at times. If you are unsure whether you can make it, ask the hotel for a free ride.
Review 29:Good location, good concept Easy to find
Review 30:Good value for money. I had a great time.
Review 31:Easy access from the highway. You do not need a escort. Got signs every other kilometer . Excellent tents, very comfortable. A/C working great. Excellent diner and breakfast. Wonderful staffs. The place is beautiful. Walking in the dunes. Enjoy to ride the quads. I would stay there again.
Review 32:The price was expensive for one night
Review 33:We particularly liked the free camel rides at breakfast. The accommodation was very clean and inviting. The quad bike dune rides were exhilarating!
Review 34:One of our tents had a power outage, but when we told reception the almost immediatly offered us another tent. Problem solved!
Review 35:Great choice of activities, luxurious tents, good location, great view, nice staff and a very very good BBQ and breakfast. Quality has a price, but it's worth it!
Review 36:I think its a bit overpriced but since we have 2 small children with us, its just a small price to pay
Review 37:Complimentary of camel riding for 5 mins around camp and sunset watching near the camp
Review 38:Too close to town to see incredible star display normally seen in desert night sky.
Review 39:Quick to arrive at the location from main road. No experience with desert driving needed. Comfy beds. Nice bathrooms. Friendly staff. Live Omani music during dinner. Excellent guides provide desert activities, sandboarding, quadbiking, dune bashing. Sunset.
Review 40:Would have liked a camp fire and shisha, etc. Very expensive for sleeping in what is essentially a tent.
Review 41:breakfast and dinner with a few drinks in the desert very nice.
Review 42:The camp is very well equipped and offers a lot of leisure activities. It is very well situated to get a first and imprssive contact with a sand desert.
Review 43:the chek in time at 2:00-5:00pm and the chek out next day 10-11am
Review 44:I like the sun set and sun rise times they drive you up the hills in luxry4weel where you found soft drinks ,omani sweet water they provide so many activities such as driving thruoh the dunes and renting raptors the two free meals annd the music band at the dinner was wonderful
Review 45:Poor dinner, the same food was served for breakfast the moring after. One of bath robes was dirty, towels too used and napkin in the restaurant with a huge hole. Sand boarding was offered as one of activities for extra charge. However the boards provided were absolutelly not suitable and instead of sliding down the dune, all riders were just stuck in sand. I strongly suggest to remove this activity from the offer because it just does not work.
Review 46:Staff was nice, expecially driver who took us from Al Wasil.
Review 47:Noisy bike of the camp baggage transfer service, Lack of room services Too much lights within the camp at night which doesn't help star watching
Review 48:The camp is good, clean Staff were friendly and helpful Kids loved it so I booked for another trip. It's the best available in the region.
Review 49:Wifi connection was poor and internet could not be accessed.
Review 50:"Desert drive" driver Mr. Ahmed was very nice and did his job at our satisfaction. It was a real pleasure to have him our guide and as driver for 1 hour tour. Hotel Staffs were good, food was nice.
Review 51:Food was not quite up to the standard for the overall price but that is a quibble!
Review 52:An experience of a desert camp in great luxury. It's an 11km drive on hard sand (4X4 needed if you are not experienced on sand), you leave your car outside and then they take care of you. Baggage transported on buggies as the camp is quite large and sandy. Rooms are suites with the canvas limited to the roof. Well equipped - AC in each room - large bathroom, water, kettle etc. Included is a drink at sunset on the dunes and a short camel ride in the morning - clean camel! There are optional activities such as an excellent introduction to dune buggies and treks etc. Food is plentiful at dinner and breakfast and service is friendly and discrete. Arrive early enough to have time in the afternoon to walk up the nearby dunes on your own and enjoy the solitude.Good night skies although too much light pollution from the camp to be amazing as the desert is. Worth a night
Review 53:The noise from all the quad bikes and traffic to the other accommodation nearby, other people's hair on the bathroom floor.
Review 54:The comfortable bed, the delicious dinner (especially the BBQ'd lamb chops!), the space between each tent, the friendliness of the staff, the decor of the rooms.
Review 55:- Wifi isn't great but impressive to get any in the desert - the food was good but nothing outstanding
Review 56:- Rooms are very luxurious for a desert camp and really comfortable (with air conditioning) - Location is beautiful - the activities offered (additional costs) were really fun (especially the sand boarding and the quad bikes) - the trip up the hill for sunset was really great - All staff were very helpful - it was very easy to find the camp off from the main road
Review 57:Music at night was very loud as we were staying very close to the restaurant, The price of the activities was very high, not many restaurants around the area. You need a 4 wheel drive car to get there from the main road.
Review 58:Very quiet, nice to have a day or two for relaxing away from the city.
Review 59:Better to brovide more activities an
Review 60:The hotel's location in the desert gives a new experience for fans of the sand Totally the best camp in thats area
Review 61:it is too expensive even if compared to 5 stars hotels. for that high price, more facilities should be there; swimming pool, better recreation center etc. it was a moonless night, but the sky was not that rich of stars because of the glare of city lights on the horizon.
Review 62:compared to the rest of other camps around , this one is the best in terms of facility quality and food. it is the nearest to the main road and town (11 km) and easy to reach.
Review 63:The room had a stale smell to it, shower area tiling had turned black, fridge had a stale smell. All the above was a put off especially since the tent is considered luxurious. Also some entertainment at night would be welcomed for local visitors and tourists such as a local band performance. Bonfires at night when the weather gets cooler. The live Bbq was below average all the meats were over cooked hence too dry. A corner with omani cuisine would be welcome. Generally the choice of dishes for breakfast and dinner was below average.
Review 64:An excellent getaway, friendly staff, quiet and scerene. The rooms looks quite lavish in comparison to the other camps. The complimentary sunset drive and camel ride were appreciated
Review 65:they push you all the time to buy extra, the service is always speaking about money. You have the feeling to be reduce to a wallet witch is really sad. to short dune bashing tripe more road than dune bashing a bit short on diner space
Review 66:great location not far from the main road, easy access amazing tour in quad nice BBQ
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:Great staff, spectacular location, heaps of activities on the sand dunes, wonderful Arabic music at the dining area, very comfortable tent cabins. So much fun!
Review 69:Te camp is located closure to the Al Wasil and is very easy to found it, rooms are big and beautiful, the food is really good and people is very kind. The Duna bashing driver know how to give an amazing experience in the desert .... Wonderful moments during sunset and sunrise... One of the most amazing experiences in our lives
Review 70:Very nice place to spend holidays and experience dessert environment. My family enjoyed well as this was their first experience. The staff was very friendly and cautious. Excellent food. Two sons enjoyed the quad bike rides and the guide was very friendly. Great.......
Review 71:- dining could have been better quality
Review 72:- warm greetings and service - location, not too far from main road but enough for evasion in dunes - package dinner/night/breakfast/activities - extra activities proposed, we went by quad in dunes, great moment
Review 73:Attentive staff from the moment we arrived. Comfortable chalet/tents set apart from each other for privacy. Good food. Beautiful views of the Wahiba Sands. Would love to go back.
Review 74:Not too much options for vegeterians in dinner.
Review 75:we were a group of 3 families, and we enjoyed every bit of the stay. The location was good, the drivers were good. The quad-bike was well maintained and the staff was very helping. We asked them to prepare the food for our 10 mth old kid, and they did that at nominal price. Highly recommend.
Review 76:Other leisure activities were costly
Review 77:Great location in the middle of desert, nice and comfortable room
Review 78:Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Good dinner and breakfast.
Review 79:Additional activities a little expensive, and lacking entertainment during the night.
Review 80:Perfect location to experience a night in the desert.
Review 81:It was a great experience, I strongly recommend the quad biking at the sunset, fun, adventure and a great landscape at the same time.
Review 82:Nice location, impressive sand dunes, very friendly staff.
Review 83:Quiet with excellent views of dawn and dusk. The night sky was also spectacular. In the middle of week so very few guests there.

Review 111:A very nice and warm welcome from the staff at arrival
Review 112:Nothing!
Review 113:'Tent' was great . Maybe too much luxury for the young generation!
Review 114:Be warned that stars and sunset or sunrise may be hidden by clouds. Expensive car ride from Muscat
Review 115:Silence Food Range of experiences
Review 116:Just everything, wish we could have stayed longer!
Review 117:The broken telescope..the. missing finishing details in the tent interior design.a night tour up in the dunes should be added to the complimentary tours.breakfast needs to be improved with more quality
Review 118:The atmosphere ..being in the middle of nowhere ..the sunset up in the dunes..the nouvelle cuisine style dinnerd...the cosyandconfortable tent..the possibility to be trasferred by the resort car from the petrol station for free.staff were very professional
Review 119:The 'dune bashing' both from desert nights camp, another nearby camp and others was occasionally quite noisy and distracting.
Review 120:The staff are excellent. The camp is spacious, the rooms/tents are large, well presented and spread out enough so you can have privacy on your terrace.
Review 121:The cold flannel on arrival with juice and dates, the buffet with traditional music, quad bikes, beautiful luxury "tent", breakfast.... All the details were top class. Very comfortable beds too.
Review 122:EVERYTHING! We were two mature couples staying for 2 nights. Very comfortable and clean accommodation, well spaced out tents, excellent buffet restaurant food both at breakfast and dinner, good lunch menu, licensed bar separate, friendly and very helpful staff especially the manager/receptionist. Sunset and sunrise viewed from sand hills just awesome. We were so sad to leave.
