Reviews for Grand Place Hôtel
Review 1:We booked a deluxe apartment for 4 We booked a room with a balcony but were given a room with Juliet style Windows instead, no big issue. Although the room was supposed to accommodate 4 it would really only be suitable for a family with 2 small children the second bed was a sofa bed. If 4 adults were to share the room the shower arrangements would be interesting! The room was deluxe but there was only an armchair a sofa bed and a small wooden chair and little space to move around.
Review 2:Right in the heart of Arras Bed was extremely comfortable Bathroom although small was well appointed and everything worked like new Room was warm and the heating was easily adjusted. The restaurant attached Anagram was fantastic with a wide selection of high quality wine and food. Our room overlooked the Grand Place
Review 3:Shower room open with little privacy No fridge in the room The second bed is a sofa bed Just one member of staff speaks English
Review 4:The location is just brilliant, at that price Staff very friendly and available Super, super clean
Review 5:The "self catering" loft apartment advertised as being for up to six people is totally inadequate. I was advised it had 2 double bedrooms. In fact it is an open plan loft with rather cramped mezzanine area, accessed by potentially dangerous stairs, with second double bed. The shower/bathroom is open plan only the toilet has a door. The catering facilities are very limited, cramped, no kettle, missing coffee machine, inadequate cutlery, crockery, pans, glasses no suitable table to eat at. Almost no storage/hanging for clothing missing remote for the TV. We had to cut short our planned stay of three nights and arrange alternative accommodation. Overpriced for the facilities on offer we have stayed in much better furnished and equipped accommodation in Arras with two separate double bedrooms costing much less. Quite frankly a refund is warranted and an updated description on the website!
Review 6:Clean, location
Review 7:The location is fantastic, overlooking the main square in Arras - where the big Christmas market takes place in December. The room was large, clean and nicely designed (contemporary furniture etc) and the bathroom was lovely (with a bath and shower). A couple of things didn't work - including the coffee machine - but overall I'd recommend it, mainly for its great location.
Review 8:Fabulous location clean ,warm, comfortable. Kitchen a added bonus. Terrific views looking onto the Grand Place and the Christmas market. Ex restaurent for dinner, friendly and helpful staff.. Just perfect we will be back
Review 9:Few places to put things in the bathroom.
Review 10:Meals were excellent. Ideally situated in the Grand Place near to exit from the car park. Quiet and good ambience.
Review 11:Tendency to style over practicality - basin in wet room area can't be used if someone is showering - can't sit up in bed due to sloping ceiling.
Review 12:Stylish rooms in well located hotel.
Review 13:Very small sign for hotel so look for restaurant next door called anagram.
Review 14:Great location on the grand place. Easy to find from motorway. Free parking on the square but check if market on next day as cars have to be moved by around 7.30am. Underground car park cost 11euros per day. Old building has fully modernised interior and rooms are very comfortable.
Review 15:If one of you gets up to use the loo in the night the other person inevitably gets woken up, because of the arrangement of the lights. The room is very smart but perhaps a bit more comfort would help.
Review 16:Location is excellent, right on the Grand Place. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb!
Review 17:Nothing
Review 18:Beautiful location, clean, good food and wonderful staff. They were all very helpful. I chose the Grand as I am an asthmatic and can't sleep were animals have been. That said, it was an excellent choice and I plan to return with me wife. Fantastic ++++++++++++
Review 19:hard to find, no signage. Receptionist spoke very little English. Safe deposit box didn't work, she gave us a key which still didn't work!! Very dark hallway.
Review 20:excellent quiet location close to the square
Review 21:There were lots of mosquitoes in the bedroom. This was unexpected and therefore on the first night no spray was used.
Review 22:Great position in centre of town with cheap parking outside. Very close to the Somme battlefields and memorials.
Review 23:Not a bad experience at all, but it's tricky to find. It's number 23 and has a gold plaque. Sign above window says Anagram.
Review 24:Staff very helpful, dinner excellent, haute cuisine, our room had kitchenette.
Review 25:A very small hotel right on Grand Place. Recently refurbished to a high standard, with easy underground parking in secure public car park under Grand Place. Hotel has an excellent restaurant with reasonable prices. A gem - we will be going back.
Review 26:Staff was only marginally helpful and friendly.
Review 27:A potentially great location, right on the main square, but we were unfortunate enough to have a carnival set up in the entire square during our stay, which was not good!
Review 28:On the afternoon we arrived there was an unexpected funfare in the square which meant it was initially difficult to find the hotel as we weren't able to park in the square. The manager was very kind and went with my husband to park the car securely in the underground carpark. We were looked after very well and even though we didn't eat dinner in the hotel restaurant, there were other options on the square and we chose to go to a pizzeria just a short walk from the hotel. Breakfast was a small but sufficient continental selection and we were also offered eggs or omelette. I would say this is a hotel that is very suited to couples travelling without children. Very pleased with our stay at this stylish boutique hotel and it is only a short drive from the Vimy Memorial and just over an hour from Calais.
Review 29:The sofa bed was fine for young kids but might not suite older children or adults. There were no instructions for the Tassimo coffee machine, which took some working out.
Review 30:We stayed one night in the family room. The room décor was very modern and stylish, with an extremely comfortable main bed and two televisions. The shower was nice and powerful. The sitting area / sofa bed could be separated from the main bedroom area by a dividing door.
Review 31:We stayed here at the end of August 2015. The hotel rooms are on the whole very nice and comfortable; however, the reason we had a bad stay was because of a big fun fair on the square. We had been told we could park for free which was then not the case and had to pay 11 euro to pay underground, and although it says the rooms are sound proof, they are not and music could be heard from this well after midnight. I would advise checking whether there will be anything on the square when you stay, as if there is I would not advise staying here. Many of the restaurants are in the same square, and you would not want to eat outside them when this is going on.
Review 32:New & modern interior. Handy little kitchen with fridge/freezer, coffee machine, microwave & hob. Comfortable, clean beds. Easy parking. Great location with amazing places to dine on an evening. Beautiful view from the bedroom. Helpful staff. Exceeded our expectations for the money
Review 33:The hotel is not well signed, and being new few locals were able to assist with directions. Very top floor has no lift access.
Review 34:High quality fittings and excellent blend of traditional features and contemporary design.
Review 35:Unfortunately there was a Fair in the square outside and the room was very noisy until the early hours of the morning. Not much sleep!
Review 36:Excellent renovated property. Would definitely stay again.
Review 37:Small signage made it hard to find
Review 38:Very clean, modern spacious suites. Perfect accommodation for us as a couple with a ten year old, giving everyone ample sleeping space.
Review 39:Free wifi was actually limited to 4 hours, which I hadn't expected.
Review 40:Really comfy, clean room and the suite worked well for having our young children staying with us, whilst giving us a bit of space to ourselves.
Review 41:Arras itself was disappointing (though lovely architecture) and the adjoining square Les Place made us feel very unsafe. Grand Place itself became lively after 8.30 but then got so noisy that our stay marred by the noise which kept waking us up.
Review 42:Location excellent in Grand Place Square overlooking car park so could keep an eye on our cars. Lovely clean, airy rooms very welcome after long drive through France. Lovely views from balcony but beware if light sleeper! Would very much recommend the hotel for comfort, location and cleanliness.
Review 43:The hotel is in an excellent position right in the centre of town we had a junior suite which was great because we had our 15yr old daughter with us the room was clean the staff friendly I would not hesitate to book this hotel again
Review 44:Found dirty nappies in a cupboard, the staff were deeply embarrassed and rectified the problem immediately
Review 45:Location of Hotel was superb, right on the main square
Review 46:Lack of signage on the front of the hotel. Not easy to find or locate parking. Not a great problem though
Review 47:Clean, well situated classy hotel with fantastic restaurant
Review 48:There was insufficient bedding for the sofa bed. Had a very cold and uncomfortable night. Black staircase gloomy and not very welcoming.
Review 49:Staff very friendly. Apartment sparklingly clean. Brilliant location. Good breakfast.
Review 50:The staff were so helpful and friendly, the location was perfect, right on the square in Arras and the beds were huge! The breakfast was lovely too. I really enjoyed our stay and will be back.
Review 51:We didn't dislike these features as such but they should be mentioned. - "Walk-in" bathroom - not a separate room from the bedroom and in fact you can watch the TV from the shower. - Would have been nice to have instructions for the Tassimo coffee machine - but a) there was a Tassimo coffee machine and b) we were served a complimentary pot of tea!
Review 52:- The staff were extremely helpful and friendly - recommended an excellent restaurant in the square opposite. - Attractive modern room design. - The most central of central locations complete with free parking on Sundays and a large underground car park. - Breakfast included not only a full buffet with a wide choice of drinks, cold items, yoghurt and cereal, but also freshly-made food like ham and cheese omelette at no extra charge, served with a dazzling smile. - Quiet
Review 53:There was a moment of confusion that we were 3 people on check in, quickly resolved.
Review 54:We stayed in the apartment with the kitchenette. Quiet, comfortable beds, perfect with a teenager too. Great finishes and quality.
Review 55:Don't waste €10 on breakfast when there is a delightful bakery two doors away which serves outside every day except Mondays.
Review 56:Restaurant well worth a try if your French is up to the menu. On the €30 Formule one of the starters is bone marrow - served in the bone. Rooms are serviced every day which surprised us - day two we tidied up a bit better before going out.
Review 57:Black paintwork in corridors and on stairs is a little claustrophobic!
Review 58:We were travelling through France en route to Italy - stayed one night - really great hotel, great value and breakfast was lovely. Layout of the room was excellent - congratulations to the designer/architect - brilliant use of space. Wish we had eaten dinner in the bistro at the hotel (as we had a very average and expensive meal in a restaurant in the square near the hotel).
Review 59:Only one person covering breakfast, kitchen and reception which meant things were replenished rather slowly.
Review 60:Spacious rooms, very high standard, lovely accommodation and central. Very good restaurant.
Review 61:Only issue was breakfast was a little disorganised which is fine if you are without kids but makes it tricky with young children. Also website should do more to explain parking options.
Review 62:Loved the location, decor, staff very friendly, good family run feel not faceless chain. Awesome suite which served our purposes ( with two kids aged 2 and 5) perfectly. Would definitely recommend.
Review 63:Room not ready on arrival after 5pm. Staff had very little English. Stairwells were not cleared of laundry
Review 64:Location was great, but hard to find! Air conditioning worked well and modern styling
Review 65:A bit understaffed so receptionist was also serving in restaurant.
Review 66:Excellent location right on the main square. Parking in a safe underground car park on grand place within 100 yds of the hotel. A nice quiet hotel in the best part of Arras.
Review 67:No kettle in the room despite having a full kitchenette. Breakfast and front desk managed by one member of staff. Variable standard of food.
Review 68:Position. Ease of parking.very willing staff. Keen to sort problems out.
Review 69:Breakfast basic for price, not an omelette in sight. Agree with other comments relating to lighting for shower/toilet, filled room with light in middle of night, simple screen would resolve this problem. No instructions for coffee machine, it worked for one cup of coffee, but not the other. Parking OK but cost Eur 2.50 for two hours until 18:00. Had to feed meter again in morning whilst having breakfast. Otherwise OK
Review 70:Room comfortable, clean. Staff very helpful. Loads of restaurants in Grand Place and adjacent squares. We dined in the hotel restaurant, food and service excellent.
Review 71:We only stayed one night and the restaurant was not open. The owner did recommend good alternatives.
Review 72:Stylish hotel with very comfortable accommodation in a great location, close to bars and restaurants in the main squares. The hotel restaurant and menu looked great. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 73:The central location with free overnight parking in front of hotel. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel has a stylish and modern ambiance with an excellent standard of cleanliness and successfully blends chic modern facilities with the historic old city of Arras.
Review 74:The only thing is that the bathroom is open plan and there is no separate light for the toilet which isn't very good in the middle of the night!. It would also have been helpful to have instructions for the air conditioning. But these were minor points as overall the room was lovely.
Review 75:The hotel was stylish and immaculate. The breakfast was good by French standards - not just the usual croissant and coffee!. The shower was terrific. The Anagram restaurant attached to the hotel was good value for money. We asked for a quiet room and didn't hear a sound so slept well in the comfy bed.
Review 76:Hotel locked with no staff around when we arrived at 5pm. We hung around for 15 mins before carrying all our stuff back to the car and heading off to a cafe for a while. No sink in toilet. No toilet in bathroom. Just a bit awkward
Review 77:Comfortable. Quite stylish.
Review 78:Really hard to find it. Website needs to explain that there isn't a sign... and that the no. isn't easily visible as you drive by.
Review 79:location good. reception so so friendly and helpful. room small but very well appointed, high quality fittings. Excellent restaurant - a real find!
Review 80:room was smaller than expected , self catering .... with only a coffee machine that was supplied with only 5 sachets , could really be better with a kettle instead.
Review 81:Couldn't get the coffee machine to work. Couldn't get the TV to work either. There is no partition between the bathroom and the bedroom. And no shower door. So people in the bedroom could see people in the shower so not a lot of privacy. Might be worth having a screen to put across even if they can't fit a shower door
Review 82:The staff were very friendly polite and helpful
Review 83:Location as we were visiting the Christmas markets Restaurant great food and helpful staff.
Review 84:missing some hangers for towels and bathroom stuffs.
Review 85:amazing design amazing location
Review 86:The shower room arrangement is rather odd - open plan !
Review 87:Location could not be better for the shops and Saturday market
Review 88:Nothing, great stopover place
Review 89:Location is perfect, in the main square, easy parking right outside the hotel. Very modern, but very comfortable.
Review 90:Great location in the main square and a great stop off point in France for onward journeys further South.
Review 91:Excellent boutique hotel, fantastic location, superb restaurant!
Review 92:Room not really big enough to accommodate 4 people.
Review 93:Location was excellent right on the grand place. We did not find it noisey.
Review 94:Nobody could speak English and difficult to find. There is no signage outside.
Review 95:Room Design
Review 96:breakfast was late, not a grand hotel, hard to find from the place.
Review 97:good bed and shower
Review 98:Friendly staff. Room a good size as was bathroom. Even had a fold away seat in the roomy shower. Could not fault it and will be booking there again.
Review 99:Dark decor, poor lighting and lack of info about restaurant. Poorly signposted from outside.
Review 100:Breakfast and Tassimo
Review 101:Everything

Review 109:Room 32 had no where to hang towels or clothes or place toiletries. Shower floods onto floor.
Review 110:Location
Review 111:Was advertised as 2 double beds not a sofa bed. No privacy to shower. Reception unmanned and not multilingual.
