Reviews for Hôtel La Caravelle
Review 1:Unfortunately traffic on road made it noisy and disrupted sleep - nothing you can really do about that but if you are a light sleeper this one is best avoided. It would be great if French hotels could have tea/coffee available in room particularly if you have any early departure.
Review 2:Lovely staff and helped book dog in local vet. Staff also made suggestions for local places to eat. Tasteful decor. Views lovely from top harbour facing room.
Review 3:We could not find a parking spot in the vicinity of the hotel.
Review 4:Charming little hotel in the small village of Ciboure, right in front of a tiny beach. Our bedroom and bathroom were definitely roomy, clean and newly refurbished. Much more than what you would expect from a two-star hotel! Moreover, it is just a walk away from gorgeous St-Jean-de-Luz.
Review 5:The owners and staff were so friendly and helpful. Made us feel right at home. The location is great for driving to the beach at Hendaye, while still can walk in St Jean de Luz. Parking available! Great views of the bay Good breakfast
Review 6:Bathroom was very small and towel was very rough. Pillow was lumpy and uncomfortable. Unfortunately could not sleep very well as you can hear everything from other rooms
Review 7:Excellent service from staff
Review 8:The Hotel in inself is charming and the near surroundings includes the charming village of Ciboure and great beaches. In the near vecinity you also have the small town charm of St-Jean-de-luz
Review 9:Room very tiny and could have done away with the single bed to make more room. No side tables and the bathroom was adequate but very small.
Review 10:Nice location and close to the beach and easy walking to St Jean de Luz
Review 11:A lovely hotel, great location and the attention to the decoration and comfort of the quests was just lovely. The staff or in our case the owner who looked after us during our stay was delightful and the breakfast was great.
Review 12:I paid a whooping €45 more for my 2 night stay in my room than my sister did for hers because I had a sea view. But my room also faced the street and the traffic was quite noisy. My sister's room on the other hand had shutters on the window and no noise! Less expensive room: much better deal!
Review 13:The place was pleasant, the location good, the lady at the desk, really nice.
Review 14:no ham at breakfast!
Review 15:lovely views across the bay, parking was easy, shops nearby and an easy walk to the centre of town without all the hassle of being right in the centre
Review 16:En-suite just section of bedroom. Noise of road, stops when window closed but room then too hot. Needs a fan.
Review 17:Staff very helpful, clean, perfect location, good and free WiFi, would recommend if disadvantages taken into account.
Review 18:Right on a busy road, with consequent traffic noise in front bedrooms. Almost no on-site parking and only a rather small public carpark nearby
Review 19:The hotel itself is fine, staff very helpful. Great view across the bay to St Jean from our room.
Review 20:The hotel does not have a lift.
Review 21:We had a room with 2 small balconies (dual aspect) looking over the bay and town of St Jean de Luz, tres belle. Very nice breakfast, healthy eating.
Review 22:Our room was small and the en suite very bijou! Shower head fell on my head! Room very hot - needed to have the window open at night and road very noisy. Would benefit from fan in the room
Review 23:Excellent breakfast Helpful staff who spoke English Clean rooms
Review 24:our room was situated on a noisy sidestreet that led up to a parking lot so cars & motor bikes accelerated to get up the hill. even with the windows closed, it was hard to sleep. during the offseason maybe it's better but in august it's almost impossible to sleep in the room. request a room in the back & forget about a room with view - front street is too noisy as well. otherwise a lovely hotel with superb breakfast.
Review 25:the breakfast was the best - cheese, full array of yogurt, dried & fresh fruit, excellent croissant & bread + jam along with usual hot beverages.
Review 26:Smallest bedroom we have ever slept in. Smallest bathroom we have ever used, similar to one on a ferry.
Review 27:Very helpful staff Beautiful location looking onto to sea and beach Breakfast OK but rather hit and miss
Review 28:I would suggest to focus. A bit on the bathroom.
Review 29:Everything, the hole lot was outstanding considering it's an ancient building almost a. monument that has been with taste well refurbished.

Review 43:- nice breakfast - good location - friendly staff
Review 44:It was quite expensive. Breakfast was poor for €9...but I know that breakfast in France is quite a modest meal.
Review 45:Decor and location

Review 56:Nice view over the beach, querky interior, limited private parking you would need to book in advance, simple but very nice breakfast. Friendly place.
Review 57:Comfort - location - friendly staff and a great part of France - terrace overlooking the bay - just great
Review 58:The location
Review 59:Small toilet
Review 60:Kind staff, very clean, 10 minutes walks from city center, not expensive for high season.
Review 61:wifi only in lobby
Review 62:Hotel 20m far from the sea
Review 63:The bedroom (23) and bathroom were really too cramped for a stay longer than a night or two. Next time we would ask for a different room.
Review 64:All the staff was very polite and helpful. The cherry jam was made in heaven! The bed was very comfortable. Splendid choice at breakfast to suit all tastes. Our room was quiet at night (not on the road).
Review 65:Really helpful staff on reception. This is a really charming hotel within very easy reach of the town of St Jean de Luz. Nice having a small beach just opposite the hotel - when the traffic was light we could hear the waves (and we had a room at the back of the hotel). The only slight concern was the parking arrangements - the hotel is on a busy road and you need to be patient!
Review 66:Off season, it's best to dine in town rather than depend on local options - many are closed or not serving.
Review 67:Very friendly, helpful staff, good room with quirky decor, well located on south side of port entrance.
Review 68:The shower in the bathroom was over the bath and didn't allow for a full shower, the room was chilly and the heating was not on.
Review 69:Great location, lovely big room, basic but clean and comfortable. Lovely staff.
Review 70:The room was a bit small, but ok for our needs
Review 71:Friendly reception on arrival. Warm, friendly staff who spoke excellent English and explained everything we needed to know very well. Secure garage parking for our motorbike. 10 mins walk from the center of town Nicely appointed, clean room.
Review 72:Absolutely everything.Would certainly stay again. No problems at all. friendly helpful staff. excellant location. Nothing to complain about. Well equipped with everything catered for.
Review 73:This did not effect us, however people with a disability would not be able to use this hotel.
Review 74:The lady owner, sorry no name was charming, Nancy her assistant was charming, the room cleaner was charming. We enjoyed our stay, this is my 2nd visit.
Review 75:Parking a bit of a problem but plenty of it if you're patient.
Review 76:Location, right on the beach and a short stroll into the town centre. Plenty of quality local restaurants. Good value for money
Review 77:The bathroom could do with a renovation...
Review 78:Very cosy and atmospheric place with lovely staff! Comfortable bed. We got upgraded for free, to a nice little room that had its own terrace. It's located in a peaceful place right by the sea.
Review 79:The fact that we had to leave.
Review 80:From the time we came , everything was just right, very friendly staff as well as the owners , as for the breakfast you cannot beat their buffet.I could have stay another few days to enjoy the town
Review 81:Nowhere to get a hot drink at the hotel in evening. Staff kindly allowedus to make a cup of tea for ourselves (3 people) one evening - this wasvery much appreciated - but we were charged for these the next day - avery poor way of dealing with clients who were spending almost €600 intotal: we were not impressed by this to say the least. We booked parkingbut our car was too large for the garage - it would be useful for thedimensions to appear in the hotel information. Not a problem as westayed here in April but at busier times this could have been anuisance, particularly since private parking was one of the reasons webooked here!
Review 82:Appealing hotel, pleasant bedrooms, my bathroom small but with goodshower, clean. A good two-star hotel. Sea view worth the extra money butother rooms fine. Good breakfasts in nice breakfast room. Veryattractive decor in communal areas/stairs/landings.
Review 83:The only minor downside is the prefabricated bathroom. I know that theseare very common in older hotels and particularly in France. It was clean and it worked perfectly but it just detracts slightly from the pleasure of a hotel stay.
Review 84:The girl who met us at reception was wonderful and thankfully spokeperfect English. The hotel was clean and comfortable.
Review 85:For a budget hotel had all the basics except an early breakfast, onlystarts at 08:00 and we had to leave at 07:00
