Reviews for Le Grand Hotel Trestraou

Review 1:Very old hotel and walls are paper thin. Bedroom could have been cleaner. The bed valance had stains on it.

Review 2:The location is the most appealing aspect of this property.

Review 3:No bar. Upstairs corridor badly lit. Carpet upstairs a trip hazard especially with poor lighting. Ceiling in our room was fabric pulled taut! We stayed on second floor and I dread to think what would happen in the event of a fire.

Review 4:The room was clean and bed comfortable. Lovely building to look at from outside.

Review 5:The hotel needs a renovation. The first room we slept in was really bad. It got better, since the staff organised other rooms. The hotel is in a bad shape.

Review 6:The view was great. The dining room is old but beautiful.

Review 7:Lack of tea-making facilities in the room. Bar was advertised, but was non-existent.

Review 8:The hotel was a bit tired, but still "grand". Everywhere was very clean. The free parking was a real bonus

Review 9:The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was strong although tended to make the whole bathroom wet! The private parking was an absolute blessing.

Review 10:poorly functionning wifi

Review 11:We spend lovely time at this hotel last year, and this year we came back, and we were not disppointed. Rooms are very spacy, with beautiful sea-view. Rooms may be slightly old-fashioned but my and my wife do like it.

Review 12:Staff were distant and did not interact with us at all. In general the hotel was tired. However it was value for money.

Review 13:Location was excellent located right on the promenade close to the beach and restaurants. On site parking and everything within walking distance. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment.

Review 14:The hotel suffers from what I believe is common of seaside places (live in Virginia Beach and have seen this in seaside hotels) - the humidity tends to take a toll on carpets and in some areas, the hotel could use some update. The lighting was sometimes poor in the hallways and some of the lifts were tiny. The checkout staff was a bit stiff.

Review 15:Le Grand Hotel had terrific wait staff in the Dining room - very helpful and courteous - and I was grateful as it was our 25th anniversary. The dinner was very nice and the Dining Room looked pretty special. The views were terrific. The hotel has a lot of older charm to it. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was modern, efficient and clean. While I was officially on business, I had chosen this hotel to mix with pleasure, as I was visiting from US for first time in France with my wife. All in all, a good choice.

Review 16:No tea or coffee facilities in the room

Review 17:The location was perfect the hotel was huge with a big room overlooking the sea a free car park friendly helpfull staff and a delicious breakfast with a sea view

Review 18:Room was supposedly "Superior" but not sure what we got for this. No tea/coffee making facilities, no air con, no sea view (that was extra cost), only one easy chair and no English channels on TV (even though they appeared on the menu). Overall we had a great holiday due to the location but the hotel was disappointing and does not compare favourably with the Best Western which we stayed in when it was the Mercure last year.

Review 19:Location, grand entrance, on site secure parking.

Review 20:The hotel rooms need decorating, this hotel could be fabulous with a little thought throughout. They need the hotel inspector to bring the hotel back to life!

Review 21:Hotel right opposite the beach

Review 22:the hotel was in need of new carpeting at the doors and we had to remember the hotel was built in the 20's you had lovely people on reception though which made up for everything.

Review 23:the location was fabulous and we are going back next year

Review 24:We found the breakfast cost a little too much so we went to the bakery daily for our coffee and danish

Review 25:The location, right in front of the beach, beautiful scenery, walking distance for dinner. Private parking.

Review 26:Location, free parking

Review 27:The hotel is way past its use by date!

Review 28:None

Review 29:Great location at the sea

Review 30:Excellent location. Get a room overlooking the seafront. Easy free parking.

Review 31:intermittent internet/wifi

Review 32:friendly staff

Review 33:nothing to dislike

Review 34:lovely sea view, great breakfast, fabulous location

Review 35:Location, hotel was on the promenade and the hotel staff were kind enough to change our room for one with a sea view.

Review 36:Very friendly & helpful staff. Free upgrade to sea view because wasn't ready.

Review 37:Every things was poor and not fare for price

Review 38:Only location

Review 39:Very dark corridors, bedrooms and bathrooms need redecorating

Review 40:The view

Review 41:décor slightly jaded in a few public areas

Review 42:sea views

Review 43:On checking in for 2 nights we were given a 1st floor room over the restaurant. All fine until 2nd night when there was a wedding in the hotel with an unbelievably loud disco immediately under our room. Just before 1am my husband went down to reception and was told by the night porter that the disco would finish at 3am and gave us the key to another room on the 3rd floor. This was less noisy than the 1st but we still got no sleep until 4am when the wedding guests finally went to bed. We refused to pay for the 2nd night as we had had no sleep and this was accepted. BUT there is no way we would have stayed there if they had bothered to tell us that there was a disco until 3am especially when they put us in a room right above it. The following day of our holiday was ruined as we had had hardly any sleep - absolutely no way to treat guests. If you stay check that there is no wedding or other event going on.

Review 44:seaview,spacious room, old fashioned charm. Lots of restaurants nearby.

Review 45:The décor of the hotel is past it's best. Breakfast is a basic continental style one.

Review 46:The location of the hotel is superb; opposite a lovely beach and near to cafes and restaurants. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds. Secure parking. Very friendly staff. Comfortable lounge area.

Review 47:Friendly, cheerful and unpretentious. Reasonable value. Great shower!

Review 48:The state of decoration in the room - tiles in bathroom awful and justreally run down. The dining room in need of total revamp. Breakfast wefelt expensive at 11 euros for what was available.

Review 49:Clean white cotton sheets. Beautiful view over looking the sea. Privateparking. Staff friendly. Clean entrance and staircase beautiful.

Review 50:The lift does not go down to the car park level, luggage still has to be carried up stairs to reception level. the curtains have blackout lining but do not go up to the ceiling so light still comes in at the top.

Review 51:Wonderful sea view, large private car park, large comfortable bed, nicely decorated. Clean bathroom. Lots of places to eat along the sea front.

Review 52:Wish there were more lifts in the hotel. One has to climb a bunch of stairs to get to reception and to reach a lift- not easy for someone with a broken leg or disability. A lot of the carpets looked in dire need of replacing but no other issues. Lots of parking on site .

Review 53:Location, location, location! It is the most wonderful spot; paid the extra for the sea view. The weather was not the best but the sound of the ocean is so calming and I slept well- probably the sea air! Breakfast was very good. A charming hotel. We loved everything about the area- so much natural beauty. we really wished we could have stayed longer as the area is so pretty.

Review 54:This hotel needs a complete updating. Pealing paint, wornout carpets, furniture needs to be renovated. Cleanliness needs to be improved throughout. We found a glass under our bed from previous visitors.

Review 55:The position of the hotel, right on seafront

Review 56:We were disappointed with the lack of wi fi access, not only from our room, but also in the lounge/main room we were advised to connect from. The internet was so slow, it was largely unworkable, which was annoying. Also the smoke from people on their balcony next door.

Review 57:The view and old world charm.

Review 58:Weak Internet reception limited to main lobby.

Review 59:An old fashioned looking hotel on the beach from the outside, but moderninside, pleasant, bright , lobby looking over the shore. Free, safeparking on the property. Very accommodating front desk staff. Friendly.

Review 60:Our bathroom was rather cramped with no window or fan.

Review 61:The hotel was exactly as expected and the price was right. The staff were friendly and the hotel ideally located for walking and exploring the coast. The car park was big and right outside the hotel. Loads of good eating places along the beach front and a great atmosphere generally. A good, fairly cheap option for a few days break.

Review 62:Dark corridors. Constant throbbing noise audible all night from kitchen area. A/c would have been welcome.

Review 63:Location right on the beach. Helpful service at reception. Beuatiful view from the lounge.

Review 64:Slightly expensive regarding that the WiFi only worked in the hotel lobby and the hotel was in need of a face lift.

Review 65:The ladies in the front desk were really good and service minded. Hotel nicely situated just by the sea.

Review 66:Not having wifi in the room is poor, and internet speed in the lounge area (where wifi is available) was appalling. Need to modernise this bit! No fridge in room either, nor tea/coffee making facilities.

Review 67:The hotel is indeed grand, and the room (with sea view) was excellent. Location and quietness were excellent for a good night's sleep.

Review 68:The hotel is quite old, though it has its charm. The rooms are clean, but small and you can hear everything, as wooden floors. Bathroom is very small and old, but again clean and ok for a night.

Review 69:Central location, right on the beach and behind few good restaurants. Friendly staff and clean rooms

Review 70:Built in the 1920's, and I don't think the rooms have been changed since! Very shabby room and old fashioned furnishings. Everything about the entrance, reception area, corridors and rooms is tired, worn, unappealing and not somewhere we would return to

Review 71:Good location and views great with a sea view

Review 72:Needs a bit of updating

Review 73:Very spacious bedroom with a sea view, and the lovely restaurant which was huge. This is an old hotel but was charming

Review 74:Slow Limited internet. Tired ambiance. Mediocre breakfast.

Review 75:The location it really great on the front street next to the see.

Review 76:Great location, close to the beach and boulevard

Review 77:Great position and free car parking, wonderful!!!

Review 78:situation accueil et personnel tres sympathique

Review 79:No Wifi in rooms, only in reception where it was painfully slow. The hotel needs an update

Review 80:Wonderful position, friendly staff, easy parking.

Review 81:You quoted me 90 euros a night for the room but I was charged 162,00euros a night, perhaps you knpw why!!!

Review 82:No air condition or fan. Old.

Review 83:Location across from the beach.

Review 84:extremely bad soundisolation, we were unlucky to have very noisy neighbours

Review 85:the situation

Review 86:Stairs for luggage from carpark.

Review 87:Location superb. Well placed for the Pink Granite Coast.

Review 88:It rained !

Review 89:Old fashioned hotel with charm, very friendly staff, we enjoyed our visit.

Review 90:No lunches served, no bar

Review 91:Location and sea view. Private parking

Review 92:Beds too soft

Review 93:Location and architecture

Review 94:Hair-dryer kept breaking and they were cheap with towels.

Review 95:Ocean-view room and balcony!

Review 96:Thought it expensive and a bit tired but undestandable in the present recession.

Review 97:Being right on the sea front and also private parking

Review 98:Very few people speak English!!!

Review 99:It's atmosphere of bygone days is lovely especially in the dining room. The location is also super.
