Reviews for Hôtel Chez Charles

Review 1:Absolutely nothing.

Review 2:Just about everything. Truly. We liked every aspect of your facilities and, especially, the friendly and helpful staff. (Perhaps you could have improved the weather!)

Review 3:The hotel is very modern and beautiful designed with very high standard. The location in Lumio is stunning view of calvi bay. Hotel Chez Charles is a perfect choice for having holidays in Calvi region. We stayed here for 4 nihghts and took the half board for 2 nights ( 78€/ person/day which is very fair price. We enjoyed Breakfast at the terrace with panoramic view and Dinner in L' OGGI, michelin Restaurant.) The hotel staffs were very friendly and the room is very clean and well designed. The owner of the hotel was very kind too. For choosing the roomcategories , we have choosed the sea view which we could here the noise at the street, even at nigt time...but we got used to after first night and it is worth for having panoramic view on this side. If you have problem with the noise, you might choose the mountain view. or you could closed the window and switch on the air condition. The swimmingpool is temperated and also have panorama view. Conclusion: If you want to have somethings special for your holidays, Hotel Chez Charles is the right place.

Review 4:We loved everything about this hotel. The staff is amazing and hardworking ,very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel has amazing views over the bay of Calvi, the hotel is super-clean and has a great Guide Michelin restaurant. Breakfast is good, beds are comfortable and they have proper duvets and nice products in the bathroom. The bar is cool with a vast variety of drinks from all over the world and they have a good winelist. The location of the hotel is perfect - near all activities, a lovely beach and on the main road - which is a plus.

Review 5:We had a nice time at Chez Charles. The hotel is a short drive from the main town, but the view is really nice and it looks over the port of Calvi. Dinner here was excellent and Henri the bartender was really attentive and very helpful. Our room was very nice and clean, and they gave us a complimentary bag of local cookies which we enjoyed! The pool was also very nice.

Review 6:Everything was as though this were a fancy spa and yet only$100/night!A Wonderful heated pool, slippers and robes, terrificbreakfast, lotions, kleenex, huge room with beautiful view...nothing wasmissing. I will return to this area only to stay longer here!!!!

Review 7:We were astounded to find it was situated on the main road. From the photos it appeared to overlook fields. It made the balcony and the terrace, where meals are served ,unpleasant. Parking was difficult. Meals overpriced.

Review 8:Lovely room. Beautiful beaches a short drive away. Easy access to Calvi.

Review 9:The bar by the pool was closed. The traffic noise. Expensive price in restaurant.

Review 10:The room was high quality, the sea view second to none. Friendly staff. Sedate ambiance. Excellent restaurant.

Review 11:The restaurant prices were too high for our budget (starters 30euros, mains 45euros and desserts 20euros) but there are plenty of other nice places to eat in Lumio.

Review 12:Lovely pool area, location - right at the beginning of the foorpath to the ruins of Occi. Nice touches from the hotel staff - free room upgrade, corsican almonds in the room on arrival and corsican biscuits when we were leaving

Review 13:Location, Lumio has few options for dining or any sites to see. There are better locations on the coast to enjoy

Review 14:Room was spacious and very pleasant. Pool was very nice. Restaurant was excellent although bit of a splurge as it is expensive.

Review 15:If you book a room with balcony / sea view, you're in for a treat. The view is simply magnificent! Apart from that, the staff is extremely helpfull, the pool is super, our room was spacey, extremely well kept, clean and nice. Very nice hotel, we should love to revisit :-) PS: The gourmet restaurant surely deserves its Michelin star - the food is delicious!

Review 16:Noise from road traffic

Review 17:Great location. Loved the restaurant. Excellent service. Great facility

Review 18:very small room, it doesn't fit with my expectation

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Cleanliness

Review 21:Very helpful friendly staff. A nice pool and good views from terrace. Good breakfast.

Review 22:No included breakfast, incredibly expensive dinner (and fairly expensive breakfast), weak pool

Review 23:Giant room, great amenities, friendly staff

Review 24:Restaurant, small portions and high prices.

Review 25:Rooms, pool, staff

Review 26:House blocking view from pool Breakfast could be served beyond 10am to say 10.30am

Review 27:The overall location

Review 28:poor wi-fi signal, poor acces from the parking lot after 18:00 hours

Review 29:very clean and spacious room, friendlly staff, very nice view from the terrace

Review 30:Although we had a balcony overlooking the sea, the view is a bit limited and the room itself was small. I didn't see any difference between our room to one of the 2 star business hotels.

Review 31:You need a car - but that is anyway need in Corse. It would be nice if they had a little gym.

Review 32:The owner is very serviceminded and friendly, and is always around. Helpful staff.Great food and nice room with big balcony. Great hotel.

Review 33:No shower, only a hand held one over bath.

Review 34:The location was good, with excellent views over Calvi harbour. Infinity pool was lovely and a Nicely furnished room

Review 35:Pool is good but surrounds surprisingly shabby. No pool towels available at pool side, they need to be rented from reception!

Review 36:Set on a hill and has magnificent views over the Calvi Bay. Restaurant is quite superb and certainly deserves its Michelin rating. Staff is an international one with good English spoken and very friendly.

Review 37:You do need a car as there's not much in Lumio, although we had one so it was fine. It's a €30 each way taxi ride into Calvi so it's fortunate we didn't want to drink in the evenings.

Review 38:The room was excellent with an amazing view over the valley and bay towards Calvi. The staff were friendly, professional and always helpful. Lumio is a lovely little town and the hotel isn't far from Calvi. The restaurant is amazing.

Review 39:Breakfast was not included and was expensive, good quality but little choice. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room

Review 40:The hotel was stylish and comfortable and they were happy to upgrade us to a room with a shower

Review 41:Service was great, staff were very accommodating and gave good recommendations for dinner as their restaurant was closed for the season. We would definitely stay again (with the hope that the restaurant is open as the menu looked great).

Review 42:Situated in Lumio which is about 10km from the ferry port in Calvi. Itsworth hiring a car if you plan to stay here for any length of time asaccess by public transport is non-existent and repeated taxi journeyscan become expensive if you plan to explore.

Review 43:The hotel was newly refurbished throughout, decor, bathrooms and publicareas were beautiful. The hotel felt more expensive than it actuallywas. All the members of staff from the owners down to the bar andcleaning staff were genuinely warm, friendly and helpful. Theyconsistently went out of their way to make us at home. The food wassimply stunning. Simple buffet style continental breakfasts, bar foodavailable through the day and evening if that was all you wanted, but amagnificent restaurant for lunch and evening meal. Some of the best foodwe have ever eaten. The owners produced their own wine locally and weurge you to try their local corsican options- wonderful! Of course thewas also the option of a full wine list of all the usual suspects and anextensive bar and cocktail menu. Lovely infinity pool which was heatedwhen required (we went in Sept). Utterly jaw-dropping panoramic views ofthe surrounding mountains and the bay of Calvi.

Review 44:The Michelin star chef/s meals were OK... but very expensive as were the wines. The service was wonderful and the restaurant is very pleasant....nothing they can do about the fact that the main road runs along side.

Review 45:Wonderful views from room. excellent rooms...most comfortable.and stylish..but in our first room there, we had to winge because the air cinditioning was ineffectual. We moved, and it was better, but not up to the standards of some of the cheaoer hotel we had stayed in.They did refund our breakfast prices to compensate. Pool lovely too .

Review 46:It is close to the Main Road , but not really a significant problem

Review 47:Family run Hotel with the Owners very attentive, excellent food, goodservice and unlike many French Hotels very friendly. The Hotel is tastefully designed and I would put it into a Boutique category

Review 48:Clean but very plain room, only hand held shower so you had to squat inthe bath (would expect proper shower in hotel of this price), Michelinstar restaurant was disappointing. Food very fussy, not impressed withit, and restaurant on noisy terrace over traffic, even though beautifulview of bay of Calvi, but somewhat spoiled by noise.

Review 49:Clean, modern, very helpful, friendly staff. Bed comfy, room sizefine. Room had lovely view over sea, good soundproofed windows overnoisy street.

Review 50:Situated close to the main road,it could be rather noisy at times frompassing lorries whilst having breakfast. An overhead shower would havebeen preferable and easier to use than the hand held shower attachment.

Review 51:Extremely friendly and helpful staff with attentive service - nothingwas too much trouble. The hotel's restaurant L'Oggi is recommended for aspecial treat although rather expensive. The deluxe bedroom that westayed in faced the mountains and was veryspacious, contemporary, comfortable and quiet with walk in wardrobe Plentyof choice for the continental breakfast with amazing views of the Bay ofCalvi whilst eating on the terrace. Excellent base for touring LaBalagne and only 10min drive to Calvi

Review 52:It is located on a busy road, and you look out on to the hotel carpark-You need to drive to the closest beach - so in this sense I think thehotel web site is a little deceiving. If you like a modern, cleancomfortable hotel St Charles is perfect. However it lacks atmosphereand charm.

Review 53:The reception staff were very friendly, the staff in the restaurant staffwere more formal, and personally I would have preferred a more relaxedatmosphere. The beds were firm and comfortable and the pillows soft.

Review 54:A glass of wine was a little too overpirced at 12 euros!

Review 55:The hotel was beautiful, the staff were very friendly and proffessional. We had an amazing view of Calvi from our room. We were on our honeymoonand a couple of times had the pool to ourselves.

Review 56:1: Road noise on terrace at rush-hour times 2: Poor choice of obtrusive musak 3: Lack of hot water during parts of the day

Review 57:1: Impeccable service throughout 2: First-class (Michelin one rosette) restaurant offering value for money except for wine prices which were a little high 3: Comfortable rooms with good views, excellent double-glazing and quiet, controllable air-conditioning 4: Accurate, itemised bill

Review 58:Friendly staff, clean, well kept, facilities

Review 59:Uitstekend!!!!

Review 60:Friendly efficient and smiley staff. Great pool. Spacious rooms

Review 61:To noisy from the street and the employees - on request we got anotherroom - but the room was between the service room and the kitchen?!
