Reviews for Hotel Carline

Review 1:Beds comfortable, room cold at night, could not get heat going. When asking for an extra blanket the man on the desk did not want to give extra blanket until pressured. The two female staff members when first arriving and leaving were pleasant.

Review 2:Bathroom smelled mouldy, but functioned OK. Wifi was poor and lost connection repeatedly. Corridors on the guest floors are a bit worn down.

Review 3:Convenient location near GANIL.

Review 4:Staff were friendly and patient with my poor French as they all spoke good English. The breakfast was good with the sort of variety you would expect for a continental breakfast. Liked the secure car parking as well. For the price this hotel it is a good stay and excellent location for the ferry, which is why we booked it.

Review 5:The wi-fi wasn't working very well and was annoying for planning onward travel.

Review 6:This hotel though in the outskirts of the city, was very close to an efficient tram that got us to the centre within ten minutes. The hotel is what you would expect from a two star hotel and the family suite was good value for money.

Review 7:The Restaurant is not open at weekends for evening meals. There is a Buffaloe Grill next door but the food was terrible - particularly on a Saturday night.

Review 8:Location

Review 9:Wifi was useless - pretty much non-existent. A bit shabby in places. Very compact shower room.....no room to swing the proverbial cat!

Review 10:Convenient location, very handy tram stop for access to Caen city centre. Easy to get to from Caen port by car. Friendly staff. Clean, basic accommodation but a place to sleep, have breakfast and then go out for the day returning in time for bed.

Review 11:Actual setting of hotel is industrial so a good stop off point but don't expect a nice view.

Review 12:Good location for channel ferry. Had adjoining rooms, good for family with children.

Review 13:Shower could do with new shower as it kept slipping out of the holder.

Review 14:The room and bathroom were very clean. The hotel has its own car park which was a big plus.

Review 15:Got this room last minute on special offer so for the price and that I could check in last minute and that they had 24-hour reception was good for me. Good value at the price I paid. Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 16:Shame the restaurant and even the Bar as well were closed over the week end. The outside looked rather run down and not looked after.

Review 17:Liked being next to a Buffalo grille and close to Normandy beaches and other similar WW2 locations

Review 18:We chosed this hotel because booking.com was given us a discount of 40% if we selected this hotel. The moment we went inside the room we were so disappointed. The furniture in the room is 20 yrs older and the room was not sound proof. We won't be back ever again! And No wifi!!!

Review 19:Nothing!

Review 20:Room grubby looking, could have done with a good clean in hallway. W old have been very disappointed if we had paid the full room tarrif.

Review 21:Comfortable bed, clean linen, friendly staff.

Review 22:the staff at the front desk, they say they have wifi but yeah only works in lobby so my room on the second floor I had to come down to the lobby and use the wifi plus it cut twice and the staff didn't want to rest it until we asked to talk to the owner.

Review 23:Not much really

Review 24:There was dust everywhere. My lights, in the room, did not work properly. There was a weird buzzing from the pipes in bathroom.

Review 25:The wifi was the only good thing about this hotel.

Review 26:Web page does not have their street address and when using a GPS, roundabout at entrance to hotel area ends up sending you to hospital area! Finally used Buffalo Grill for location (It's right behind them).

Review 27:Hotel is located away from downtown area in quiet location. Parking is free in a gated area next to hotel. Hotel has lift and rooms are adequate for two star hotel. Wi-fi was good. Restaurant serves dinner which was better than average, buffet starters and deserts. Breakfast was better than average with good selection of fruits and boiled eggs. Only negative was that the egg boiler didn't get hot enough to boil egg promptly so breakfast dragged on till egg was done!

Review 28:Quality of finish in bathroom was not up to standard. It looked partly updated but poorly finished.

Review 29:Good location on outskirts of Caen. near tram link to city and retail outlets. Quiet at night.

Review 30:Poor decor in bedrooms, bit dated. Location was beside the hospital & a buffalo grill.

Review 31:Secure Parking, the egg boiling machine was class! Fine for one night stay.

Review 32:We did get lost but it was worth the extended trip. Quiet room, bar and restaurant on site and another restaurant next door. Pleasant room. No complaints.

Review 33:Room adequate for short stay but a little basic. Kettle, tea and coffee supplied in room but no milk. Tram runs till fairly late but not very frequent in evening.

Review 34:Ease of access from/to motorway. Large, free car park. Tram to town centre (about 15 mins) and railway station (20 mins) stops close by. Copious buffet breakfast. Free Wi-fi worked well in room.

Review 35:Close to tram stop for visit to caen. Sun trap in garden made it nice to relax have a drink and soak up the sun. Shopping mall over the road with access to supermarket. Very friendly staff always willing to assist with any queries.

Review 36:Tiny rooms: don't bring a cat and expect to swing........

Review 37:Good location for stop from Ouistreham ferry. Good continetal buffet breakfast reasonably priced.

Review 38:The staff were very helpful and polite. A good breakfast was provided, with ample coffee and tea. It was very clean throughout, and the bathroom was equipped with enough towels, soap etc.

Review 39:Low ceilings without lights, room was quite dark. Lamp on table used as room light had broken fitting, was intermittent and could have been dangerous.

Review 40:Good reception staff, close enough to Caen and port.

Review 41:Buffet and food was not good at all.

Review 42:Good hotel close to Memorial of Caen (2km). We slept very well (very quiet at night) and it was easy to find. They have their own parking (free). Good for short term stay.

Review 43:In the centre of a business park so may not be as good during the week when all the businesses are using it.

Review 44:Well placed outside the city. Ideal for people needing to be up early to get a ferry. The staff were helpful and polite. The food was very good but not necessarily ideal for young families, however the hotel was just across the road from a Buffalo Grill.

Review 45:The rooms were small and wierd setup with the double door entry and it. smelled bad inside the rooms. The restaurant at the hotel was very bad and the food tasted disgusting. At the bar of the hotel they served cold red vine also. The price was to high for the standard

Review 46:Sheets were clean, but carpets stained and dirty. Overall grubby feel to the room in terms of cleanliness. We were also charged approx £25 more than originally quoted.

Review 47:Staff were friendly. Handy location for ferry port.

Review 48:no proper cups in the room just 2 plastic cups that looked like something you would get in a childrens toy tea set, no drinking glasses for water & only 2 tea bags & 2 coffee sachet's in a twin room per day

Review 49:Room (112) -- overlooked air-conditioning plant which throbbed intermittently all night. Was given complimentary breakfast in recompense! Food -- no dinner menu ("chicken, fish or ham" was the offer).

Review 50:Location -- although in a business district, was close to ring road system which suited my needs. Price -- average for budget hotel.
