Reviews for Apartamentos Son Bou Gardens
Review 1:We visited the last week of the 2015 season, so many facilities were closed. The en site supermarket had very little stock left, and many shops in the town were closed. The gas oven in our apartment was switched off, and there were no utensils in the apartment to use in the microwave. Would be better to avoid visiting at the end of the season if not hiring a car.
Review 2:Good clean facility, very attractive surroundings and very quiet when we visited (end of October 2015). Easy to reach if using a hire car. Close to the town centre. Would be a great place to visit May to September. Good value for when we visited BUT this does reflect the lack of available facilities at the end of season.
Review 3:Nothing!
Review 4:Great apartment, so modern and clean. It also had lovely views, and the terrace was a sun-trap! We were really close to the shared pool and also to the resorts shops and bars! Had a fantastic holiday and would go back tomorrow if i could!
Review 5:There was nothing to dislike about Son Bou Gardens apartments at all.
Review 6:The apartment was situated next to the pool, restaurant takeaway, also the kids play park was opposite our apartment great for our Granddaughter whom was also with us on this holiday, really friendly helpful staff. We have stayed here quite a few times everytime just as enjoyable, thank you.
Review 7:The apartments are tired and could do with updating. The choice of restaurants and entertainment locally was not extensive but then we were travelling out of season. I
Review 8:The apartments were very clean and well equipped. We were on the ground floor with connecting apartments with plenty of garden to the front for family gatherings. Also a play park and pool were only yards away so perfect for the children. Overall really excellent value for money for a budget holiday
Review 9:Apartments are great but the furniture is outdated, bathroom fixtures Are outdated With a little investment, beds, sofa, bathrooms fixtures maybe AC also This would be a awesome place
Review 10:Location Access to restaurants, shops Safe environment
Review 11:Its really impossible to live in , to hot. In day time and night. The bad sleeping quality, really compromise the holiday Air conditioning it's a must but not available. They proposed a portable kit but can’t supply it I suggest to spend little more but look for another location.
Review 12:I had to use 2 planes to get to the resort. The 1st was 45 minutes late, and left me 15 minutes to catch my connecting flight. I had to be on the 2nd flight as I had organised a transfer from the airport to the resort. My case did not reach the Mahon airport, and waited two days for it to arrive. so had to purchase extra toiletries and some clothes.
Review 13:Having a choice of 2 balconies to sit out on. Being close to family who were also staying in the same resort. The closeness of he beach. The variety of nearby restaurants.
Review 14:We were double booked so they sent us to a villa for one night which delayed the start of our holiday, when we did get to the apartment the television did not work, the sofa bed was broken, light bulbs missing and a lack of coat hangers, to be fair once reported all issues were resolved
Review 15:Location, if you are in zone 3, zone 5 is a bit too far
Review 16:nice clean apartments we stayed in zone 5 a bit ov a walk to beach & bars but we put it down to excersise to walk of the food & alcohol reception very helpful not many bars more restaurants/bars
Review 17:Dirty apartment and extremely basic and dated. Reception staff extremely rude once when we tried to make them aware of a few problems - e.g. the gas not working.
Review 18:Location is fab as so close to pools, beach and restaurants.
Review 19:Beds/mattresses poor so ended up sleeping on sofas; ceiling fan ineffective and noisy, fridge noisy; din of mating frogs in evening!; mosquitos caused major issues; inadequate cooling/problems leaving windows open because of mosquitos; health and safety issues including shower curtains that lay on floor of bath and, of real concern, the headroom as you go down the concrete staircase is so low that even an average height person could badly knock their heads. This is major and serious. There is no warning sign and the potential for happy holidaymakers to hurt themselves badly is significant; only one clean/linen change during week
Review 20:Lovely location, adequate apartments, clean and basic. Good vantage point for seeing island; din of mating frogs in evening; cool in evening and inadequate bedclothes; helpful staff, quiet when there (mid May); pretty gardens/lawns
Review 21:Apartments could do with a little sprucing. Mattreases on the firm cheap side but clean and acceptable. Restaurants on site or on resort don't offer the best quality of food, all feels a little "microwaved".
Review 22:Peaceful safe nature of the resort. Choice of pools and good location.
Review 23:Very nice and large apartment, everything you need for self catering hoilday, beautifull garden, clean and quiet swimming pools, will definitely stay again:))
Review 24:Beds were a bit small and flimsy for me (I am 6 foot 2 inches & 110 kg). Cannot really think of any other negatives in this basic value apartment.
Review 25:Very helpful staff, good pool and services. Quite garden location but close to one of the islands best beaches. Probably our best ever relaxing holiday.
Review 26:1. there is few light so it´s impossible to read in the evening 2. there is few air 3. there is no big mirror to see you all from head till toes 4. lawn-mowers start to work too early so it wakes you up early in the morning 5. we had one bed broken 6. we had 2 rooms for 4 adults but one was children-room though we wrote that 4 adults are coming
Review 27:1. we liked to have the whole apartment just for us with separate entrance 2. good bathroom 3. the general opinion about the Son Bou Gardens apt is good
Review 28:Reception staff extremely helpful. Apartment we were in had access to a swimming pool at any time of the day.Lots of space/grass/plants around the apartments almost like having a garden outside. Good size apartment. Location quiet. Reasonably priced supermarkets near by. Stunning beach. We had a late flight and were able to store our luggage and then use very good shower facilities at the end of the day for no extra charge.
Review 29:Apartment and kitchen facilities were very basic, but we made do. It wasnt a deal breaker but needs looking into really.
Review 30:All of Son Bou gardens was lovely, from the choice of 3 pools to the maintenance and upkeep of the gardens. The apartments are only 2 story and are also very attractive. reception staff very helpful, and the local supermarket was incredibly reasonably priced.
Review 31:Air conditioning would have been welcomed: the fans were ok.
Review 32:Views of the sea. Proximity to playground and the pool: our apartment was in a great location in son bou gardens. The balcony, the rear balcony: extra space for our daughter to play. The fact it was a two bedroom apartment. Close enough to the beach, plenty of restaurants nearby. Easy to park near the apartment.
Review 33:- Pool (zone 4-5) works between 11:00am and 7:30pm which is quite strange because 7:30pm is still sunny and and there is nothing to don't let children be in water. - There are only 3 or 4 small supermarkets in son bou, so list of products is limited and price is quite bigger than in other places. So if you need to buy anything (e.g a watermelon or any fruits) it would be better to get a car and buy it in Alaior. - It is not a negative for me but wifi is available only on reception and around the pool. It would be excellent to make it available in all apartments.
Review 34:location. Son bou is nice and quite place to have a vacation with your family.
Review 35:We stay for 9 days on the day we arrive we have to wait 2 hours for our apartment been clean (make sure u give them as much informations on flights we did )after that our apartment was cleand once so me and my partner keep tidy for the most of the time
Review 36:We stayed at zone 3 which was close to the beach.Nice gardens, apartment was nice refurbish ,nice area lovely beach
Review 37:The only thing was because there is a nature reserve in front of the hotel, you have to do a bit of a detour to get to the beach. It just means you have to be a bit organised and can't just pop there and back, but having said that it is a perfectly pleasant walk and only takes about 10 mins.
Review 38:The apartments were lovely and spacious and surrounded by beautifully kept gardens that gave the whole complex a real feeling of openness. Maybe the decor was a tiny bit dated but it really wasn't a big deal and they all had really nice big balconies and the 3 pools were all great. We also visited both the Royal Son Bou and the Sol Pinguinos (the other two main hotels in Son Bou) and personally I felt Son Bou Gardens was much nicer. The Royal Son Bou was nice and had a great kids pool but it felt like a chunky and quite enclosed slab of concrete. Meanwhile, the Sol Pinguinos was very tired. A lot of the sunbeds were broken and there was a lot of bird poo on them so I would probably steer clear of that one.
Review 39:Beds very hard and uncomfortable only one towel change. Air con would be a plus
Review 40:Lovely pool and surrounding nice spacious well equipped app.very peaceful and quiet
Review 41:The location of our apartment was not brilliant. We had asked for a sea view and didn't get one. We overlooked a play area. Not ideal. Apartment very sparsely equipped in the kitchen and décor a bit tired, especially the bathroom.
Review 42:Brilliant setting overall. Well kept gardens and very clean. The large pool is brilliant and the beach is just magnificent and only a short walk away.
Review 43:The beds where really uncomfortable.
Review 44:Small single beds with larger mattress were very unstable!
Review 45:Lovely island. Great beach.
Review 46:Apartments needed a bit of TLC
Review 47:Very easy to access beach and restaurants
Review 48:this was our second visit.we love the place.
Review 49:Perfect location. Sea view. Easy walk to the beach.
Review 50:location, quiet (early October), fantastic value for money
Review 51:Great location. Nice apartment. Well serviced.
Review 52:Smell of smoke in apartment. Dated décor. Standard of cleanliness.
Review 53:Close to bars, restaurants, shops & beach Nice view from balcony.
Review 54:Beach is lovely and resort perfect. Great for young families.
Review 55:Apartment poorly equiped for a family holiday.
Review 56:Location and facilities at Son Bou
Review 57:Bed a little uncomfortable but a few glasses of wine helped that!
Review 58:Great location and facilities.
Review 59:Lovely area, everything close by and lots of pools. Beach is amazing very good base to explore the island from.
Review 60:Beds were rock hard!
Review 61:Location, child friendly, lovely beach
Review 62:Simple spacious appartments perfectly located near a gorgeous beach. Friendly staff Great value for money
Review 63:No personal bad experience.
Review 64:Peaceful & relaxing. Well kept surroundings. Accessibility to beach town etc.
Review 65:to many steps and hills
Review 66:The weather
Review 67:Apartment needs complete renovation.
Review 68:Maybe only the beds weren't so confortable...
Review 69:Everything was perfect! We enjoyed our staying in son bou gardens!
Review 70:Everything!
Review 71:Only the bin lorry which woke us up each day at 5am, though cannot blame the apartments for that!
Review 72:The complex is in a lovely setting. The apartments were very clean with good facilities, including a balcony at both the front and rear. The grounds and the pool are also lovely and well maintained. Depending on which apartment you get it is a pleasant 10-20 minute walk to the beach which is fabulous.
Review 73:Some facilities not open out of season. No wifi in the apartments
Review 74:Relaxation at your open pace, good parking facilities, safe, good for young families.
Review 75:the water irrigation went off around 1am for a while so we got slightly wet most nights! !
Review 76:The location was perfect, the apartment was lovely but a little dated.
Review 77:Cheap beds, minor fittings a bit worn.
Review 78:Location - walk to beach, shops, food, etc. garden setting, quite and few people (end of season), good local food, all facilities that we needed. Good value break and would do it again
Review 79:very crappy beds old blankets (smelled bad) towels only once a week and very thin
Review 80:gardens very well kept nice appartments good pools ok restaurants
Review 81:The only way to the beach is at a 10 minuts walk.
Review 82:All the apartments zone was very nice. Restaurant near the apartments wasn't bad at all. There was a bidet!!! Free internet at the restaurant. Bus station in front of the reception.
Review 83:Since we love a lot reading, we think the lights could have been a bit brighter.
Review 84:Our flat was in a very quiet location. It was clean, and with a well equipped kitchen.
Review 85:Nothing really.
Review 86:We ended up getting a 4-person apartment because it was still cheaper than anything on the Island for two people. It was very nice! It was great staying right next to one of their 4 pools, and just a 5-10 minute walk from a very nice beach. The apartment was spacious and had a TV with a few English speaking channels, including Disney channel. Really enjoyed our stay here. Would come back again!
Review 87:Supermarked was overpriced, rent a car/taxi/bus instead and go to the supermarked in Alaior. Half the price and they have fresh fruits, vegetables and meat/fish if you plan to make breakfast and some of the meals in your apartment.
Review 88:We stayed in zone 4 with short distance to swimmingpool (100m), small shop (200m) and beach (500m).The apartments is great for families, 2 bedrooms and 2 balconies. The Beach in Son Bou is very nice, 17 Euro for two sunbeds w/umbrella. Good food on the restaurants we tried, but not any gourmet-experience.
Review 89:I have no negative comments. Everything was lovely. Obviously it is not 4/5 * accommodation but is clean and nicely laid out.
Review 90:The apartments had been updated since our last stay with new appliances in the kitchen and new bathroom. Everything was clean and nice in the apartment and also in the gardens and pools on the complex. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I thought the holiday was excellent value for money and found it a really relaxing pleasant holiday.
Review 91:- Not that comfortable, but good enough if you are planning to drive around the island and just going to the apartments at night.
Review 92:- Location - Quality-Price ratio
Review 93:- on arrival the floors in the apartment didn't seem to have been cleaned properly. - very early check-in was impossible due to the reception not being open 24/7. - some of the lights and one of the bedroom's fan was not working.
Review 94:- the location - close to the beach of Son Bou (the longest on the island); and if you're renting a car, it's a perfect starting point for island car trips (close to Mahon and Ciutadella). - the apartments are beautifully decorated for the low price of renting. - the kitchen facilities were very good! - zone 6 - much quieter with virtually no kids round - swimming pool facilities - very good!
Review 95:Rooms could do with updating. Can't really comment further as didn't use facilities. Only there one day.
Review 96:We stayed only for one night as a stopover before moving on to another resort so we found it convenient for ourselfs.
Review 97:the noise, every night people around us stayed up until 3am.Had very little sleep. Also a kettle would have been good.
Review 98:Very convenient location and nicely kept grounds.
Review 99:Sun beds not very comfortable!
Review 100:Helpful staff, clean apartments. 10 minute walk into the resort depending on which zone you are in. Plenty for kids pools and slides etc.
Review 101:Wifi/internet: During our stay there was no Wifi/internet available at the resort also not in the restaurant/bar of the resort. For fast (and free!!) Wifi/internet we went to a restaurant/pizzeria nearby named "Las Dunas" situated at the centro commercial Son Bou (with the blue/white sunshaders, next to the Bowling and last restaurant on the right side along the road to the Son Bou beach parking). You also can go to the KitCat bar in the same commercial area where free Wifi/internet is available too. The cooking is on a gas cooker, matches are not available, dont forget to bring it with you.
Review 102:Our apartment was situated in zone 4 which is a quiet area of the resort, situated in beautiful gardens and close to 2 large swimming pools with sunbeds. The apartment is large and cleaned every 3 days, we got clean towels every day. We experienced the location as a safe area. The staff is very kind and helpful. There is a supermarket on the resort. The beautiful Son Bou beach is very close and on walking distance: 10 minutes. There is plenty of parking space for a car close to all apartments
Review 103:Was very quiet, not many people about.
Review 104:Been 3 times before, we love the peace and quiet and love the beach.
Review 105:Great location, great facilities, great customer service.
Review 106:Off Peak so quiet clean and near the beach
Review 107:Basic but can't argue!
Review 108:Location right by beach, clean apartment, good facilities, free parking everywhere
Review 109:Location, choice of things to do,near bus stop
Review 110:Apartment need decent televisions and wifi and better seating in lounge area.
Review 111:Location. Facilities.
Review 112:Nothing, Great Place, Great Weather..
Review 113:Great Holiday
Review 114:Very uncomfortable beds
Review 115:Easy going staff, good location Nice pool
Review 116:Very disconfortable beds.
Review 117:Very near the beach!
Review 118:This was our fourth stay at Son Bou and as always it was excellent.
