Reviews for Hotel Du Centre
Review 1:On our first stay earlier this year we had no problem with noise in the street outside late at night, but it was a bit noisy outside this time. This could have been because the double glazed window wasn't closed properly as we would have expected it to cut out more noise. If my French was better, I would have asked a member of staff.
Review 2:We have stayed at this hotel twice in the last year. Both times the staff couldn't have been more helpful. It is excellent value for money, but don't expect luxury, just a comfortable basic hotel with a decent restaurant in s good location.
Review 3:Room was a little small and basic - however I have stayed at this hotel many many times and have had better rooms before...
Review 4:Free parking Location to beach
Review 5:Room very small, bathroom small, toilet awkwardly placed . Perhaps should have asked to see another room.
Review 6:Staff very good. Dog made most welcome. Restaurant very good. Handy stop for tunnel.
Review 7:Updated since our last visit. Lift added, breakfast room refurbished, room decorated. Retains lovely traditional charm with excellent good value restaurant. Family owned and run
Review 8:hair dryer was broken but it would have been helpful if there had been a note on it . Also the attachment on the shower was broken.
Review 9:good central location, free carpark which is always helpful as the town is a busy seaside town and tends to get busy during the day.
Review 10:the hotel is directly opposite a lively bar/restaurant so it was a little noisy at night but that's the price paid for a central location
Review 11:The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful
Review 12:The room was hot and as it was at the front it was not possible to have the window open because of the street noise.
Review 13:The atmosphere in the hotel was good. We liked the area at the back to sit and have a drink. The car park was very convenient. It is well Located for the town.
Review 14:Rooms are tiny, shower, is very small, no bar to relax...only sold Belgian strong beer, restaurant a little pricey.
Review 15:Central location , easy to find, secure cap parking, clean hotel....25 mins from Calais, free wifi, not noisey.
Review 16:Only that the restaurant serves fabulous food but is closed on Mondays, the night we had to stay there this time!
Review 17:We've been coming to this hotel for more than thirty years. We wouldn't if we didn't like it. The stairs were a tad steep as we grow older but the new lift is a great asset.
Review 18:We would have liked tea/coffee making facilities
Review 19:A very old building that has been tastefully refurbished with all mod-cons. Excellent restaurant.
Review 20:One of the family rooms is at the front of the hotel which overlooks a bar which stays open until 2am. It was very noisy the first night we stayed, however, we stayed there again on our way home and had the family room at the back which was much quieter. Some tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be good.
Review 21:The family rooms are great with a double room and a twin room upstairs for the children (ours are 11 and 9 so loved their independence but may be not so good for younger children due to steep staircase with open steps).
Review 22:Our room ws above the kitchen - smell of cooking certainly lingered all night. It was a little noisy as there was live entertainment at the bar across the road! Not a problem as such but we were travelling withour young grandaughter who found it hard to sleep!
Review 23:Staff were excellent, very friendly.
Review 24:Travelling with a 6 month old baby but put at front of hotel with verynoisy bar opposite? Fighting in the street in the night so not muchsleep. Higher priced rooms very small and hot, couldn't have windowsopen due to noise levels outside.
Review 25:Dog friendly, great location for town, parking good and secure.
Review 26:nothing
Review 27:On the high street with plentiful free parking which is easy to locate. Short walk to the beach, A classic French restaurant which is always reliable
Review 28:Great staff, great room. Would have liked a room that wasn't directly on the street but everything else was good. I shared it with a friend and there was space enough for both of us and our luggage, no pb.
Review 29:Room claustrophobic, no tea/coffee facilities. No bar, restaurant and breakfast very expensive 10 euros for 10 yrs +. Lots of road noise.
Review 30:Family room available.
Review 31:The Internet is great but you have to get a 5 hour ticket which is really irritating. Every time I wanted to use the Internet for a few moments my ticket had run out. They should do one for the duration of your stay or at least 24 hrs.
Review 32:The bed was really comfortable, and the sheets were really nice. The en suite bathroom was really well equipped and the room was very nice and clean. I liked the central location near to shops, cafes, and bars and the friendly staff, all very kind. Good variety of breakfast choices.
Review 33:Our room at the front-side of the hotel was rather hot and stuffy. Unfortunate that with 2 windows we could not get proper ventilation.
Review 34:The hotel restaurant is very good! Convenient to slip off upstairs for the night after a great meal.
Review 35:It was a bit awkward not having a small washbasin in the separate toilet. Also, there was a slight leak at the cistern button. It was disappointing to see that the showerhead (not the pomme) couldn't be attached to the bar because of a break in the holder.
Review 36:The hotel was excellently located in the town, and it was attractive to look at from the garden entrance. The staff were all very welcoming, with good service in the dining room where we had our evening meal. Free car parking was a bonus, as was the free WiFi. I was pleased that, following my request for a quietly situated room, we were given one on the second floor to the rear of the hotel. The sea was only a short walk away, as were a wide range of shops and bars/restaurants. All in all, I was happy that I had changed my booking from another hotel in Wimereux to the Hotel du Centre - thank you!
Review 37:Central, near the beach, close to all facilities. This is a lovely little town, we only stayed one night but wished we'd booked for more. Breakfast was excellent, reception lady really helpful and spoke a little english. No complaints at all.
Review 38:The bar directly opposite is VERY NOISY until around 0100hrs, try to get a room at the back. Staff advised me to complain to the Mairie and Chamber of Commerce.
Review 39:Location, size of room, private parking.
Review 40:The free parking, the town is very busy during peak season; we arrived at 9 pm and there was very little street parking so the car park was a bonus, especially as on a previous stay a few years ago we had to pay for the car park. We were dining with friends at their home, otherwise the restaurant looked excellent and busy.
Review 41:During the evening/night their is a lot of noise on the street. Earplugs helped a lot!
Review 42:Perfect location, great food at the restaurant and very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 43:You have to keep signing into the wifi whenever you left it for a while. Poor lighting in toilet. Like all hotels I've stayed in in France there is a need for a sanitary bin in the toilet.
Review 44:Good storage and bathroom space. Good to have places to hang damp towels. Good shower.
Review 45:Lovely room, great walk in shower, very clean, free parking. Also had a lovely evening meal which was good value for money. Restaurant staff very attentive. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 46:Noise from bar across the road went on til 2am. Room was adequate and clean but needed a facelift.
Review 47:Very convenient location near shops and the sea. Spacious car park.
Review 48:It would have been nice to have coffee/tea making facilities in the room.
Review 49:Its location is so convenient, and the free parking is a definite advantage in a place with such narrow streets.
Review 50:Location was ideal for town centre and beach and the private car park a real bonus for those who are familiar with Wimereux. Friendly and efficient staff both in the hotel and restaurant. Excellent wifi.
Review 51:Bed was a wee bit hard for us. Somewhere to sit indoors to have a drink would be a bonus
Review 52:The food and the wine in the restaurant, location, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 53:A lovely old traditional town centre hotel sympathetically updated and decorated in modern style & colours, whilst retaining the charm of the period building. Bright airy dining room serving a good range of nice dishes with attentive service. Enclosed car park at the rear of the hotel accessed via a back lane off the one-way high street (the hotel and the car park are both well signed). The front rooms overlook the high street, whilst the rear rooms are quieter ~ we had a front room on 2nd floor and although opposite a local brasserie all was peaceful after about 11pm.
Review 54:Didn't realise the reataurant was closed on the night we stayed, a Monday. The maitre'd does terrific steak tartare! luckily he recommended his sister's restaurant nearby on the seafront which was really good.
Review 55:Lovely spacious, comfortable, light room. Bathroom with bath, clean fresh and bright, good towels.
Review 56:Not too impressed with the standard of the meal, afraid to say, although the waiter made us feel at home. My wife had monk fish covered in sauce - not to her taste, whilst my steak, although tender, was equally covered in pepper sauce so much so that I could not taste the actual meat. Beds not comfortable + had rubber mattress covers which made sleeping rather hot. Steep stairs difficult to get upstairs, but new lift in action mid April we were advised
Review 57:Was able to get a meal without being pushed immediately after our arrival.Have stayed elsewhere and had to rush to be able to eat. - "we close in 10/15 minutes!! " Very pet friendly. Ample parking behind hotel
Review 58:Constant re-entering of cryptic wifi username and password after short periods of use was tedious.
Review 59:New style bedroom was very impressive. The dinner menu was excellent and service was spot on as ever.
Review 60:Breakfast was expensive at 9 E. Fresh french bread instead of dry sliced bread would have been a great improvement!
Review 61:Central location and spacious room.
Review 62:No lift, parking initially hard to find.
Review 63:Good location on main shopping street, free parking behind the hotel, rooms small but clean and adequate. Good traditional brasserierestaurant. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 64:Very good hotel for overnight - 2 day stay. Dinner excellent but service/attitude on that night poor. Would recommend - proprietors have always been very helpful - we have used it for a weekend away many times.
Review 65:No complaints. The only slight negative was the restaurant has incredibly bright lighting which detracts from the first class food and warm decor.
Review 66:The location is perfect with easy private parking at the back. Excellent value for money, very good food and pleasant staff.
Review 67:Very noisy in the night. Creaky floor boards and people on the road. The bedroom was a little smaller than usual, in a hotel. Staff, as always, very good apart from one waiter wasn't friendly. Thank you and hope to visit your hotel next year.
Review 68:We have stayed in your hotel for many years. The gentleman on the desk stayed up to 2.00 am, waiting for us. Very good food - better than your competitors! Plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very good. Our room wasn't very clean which was disappointing.
Review 69:We booked for a family room, as we have a 2yr old and a 5yr old. The room we were given was very basic although comfortable.. What was not good was the fact that the other bedroom was up a set of open stairs.. This was very dangerous for my youngest and I didn't feel comfortable with this. I asked if we could change rooms but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked.
Review 70:Great location- we have stayed here before and stayed in lovely refurbed rooms.
Review 71:The frog-leg tapas needs to be cooked longer to make it less tough.
Review 72:The restaurant. Service quick, friendly, efficient. Parking large, free and very close to the hotel.
Review 73:I booked a family room expecting to have a double bed and a single. As I was travelling with my daughter. The first room they offered had just a large double bed. Fortunately they were able to change it to a 2 bedded room.
Review 74:Excellent food.
Review 75:Unfortunately no lift.
Review 76:Helpful friendly welcome.Good sized room with large comfortable bed. well appointed bathroom. Excellent restaurant unfortunately closed ona Monday.
Review 77:Only hand held shower in bath. Need s a mirror in the bedroom .
Review 78:The hotel is well positioned. 20 mins drive from the shuttle. Easy walk to the beach. Shops and amenities nearby. Station and bus service nearby. Excellent restaurant and service.
Review 79:The service in the restaurant was a bit slow but the quality of the food was good.
Review 80:A good room and a nice big comfortable double bed.A really good roomy shower with a good hot water supply !
Review 81:The hotel was at the end of a very busy Summer and the room needed a few repairs. Also there was no mirror in the room other than the bathroom .
Review 82:Very friendly helpful staff all have worked at the hotel for many years and remembered us from our Last stay over 2years ago. The owner has created a delightful garden which we particularly enjoyed using after an excellent dinner in the atmospheric hotel restaurant.
Review 83:The hotel is set in the beautiful Wimereaux, very clean, friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this hotel for a young family. The family room was amazing.
Review 84:Would be nice to have had tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 85:Hotel was spacious and rooms were very comfortable. Decor to the hotel was lovely. A relaxing stay.
Review 86:Hotel location, staff really attentive, clean and comfortable stay. Hotel restaurant very French type brasserie with an extra touch of home and gastronomic cooking. Very enjoyable at an excellent price. Most enjoyable fresh coffee and croissant breakfast with the additional healthy options should you feel the need. We will return for sure.
Review 87:The standard bedroom is a little small and ours was a bit on the tired side.
Review 88:Well situated in the centre of Wimereaux. Gives the choice of eating at the hotel restaurant or eating out at one of the many restaurants in town. Parking is available off-street behind the hotel.
Review 89:The en-suite could have done with being a bit better ventilated, and while there were plenty of towels, there was a quite puzzling lack of towel-rails upon which to drape them once used. Lack of a lift was a bit of a pain, as we had several pieces of luggage to drag upstairs -- although they did offer a porter.
Review 90:This was a last-minute one-night pre-ferry quickie stop-over. Pity: I liked Wimereaux, and I liked this hotel; could gladly have stayed there for several days. Room 21 was a very interesting family room -- three single beds and toilet plus wash-basin up a set of narrow, open stairs, with a small lobby room and a double bedroom with full ensuite below. Our grand-kids are 3 and 6, and they loved having a separate upstairs room, while the stairs were great for hanging off and playing monkeys. Also allowed us to get one settled while the other was in the bath downstairs. Old-school family-run French hotel in the nicest possible way (including a pervasive lack of English among the staff, balanced by a very helpful disposition). Good and obviously popular restaurant downstairs.
Review 91:There is no lift.
Review 92:Private car park. Good restaurant & b'fast. Located in middle of the town. m.boulanger is very welcoming and speaks english as do most of the staff.
Review 93:Not sure older child would have been comfortable in put you up bed.
Review 94:Hotel is very well located for all shops restaurants and beach - all within a very short walk. Parking behind hotel good. No lift which was not indicated on website but not a problem for the able. Breakfast buffet not amazing, one choice of juice but staff provided apple juice for kids on request, hot water for tea barely warm combined with stale tea - used microwave to hear water. Family room very nice, two ensure showers. WiFi log in code provided on request. Very little information given freely, you had to ask. Overall very pleasant stay.
Review 95:The only draw back was that there were no tea making facilities or a hair dryer in our room. Not the end of the world but would have been good.
Review 96:The food was excellent. Beautifully presented by an extremely nice waiter.
Review 97:No aircon bed for the. Nipper was a bit hard, noisy in the evening (but we chose the location).
Review 98:Location was close to the seafront, price was OK and it wAs a good stop off point close to the Chunnel at the beginning of a French road trip.
Review 99:We had a room facing the main street. It was very hot. No air con, so we needed the windows to be open, Unfortunately the patrons of a very noisy and rowdy bar opposite kept us awake until 1.30am. Not the fault of the management of this hotel, but guests looking for a good night's sleep should consider this.
Review 100:Good location in middle of seaside town
Review 101:Convenient central hotel with huge advantage of its own free carpark making it a regular choice for 1 night. Makes up for small rooms (no aircon) which are a little tired. Friendly staff.
Review 102:We thought that the breakfast was over priced for what was offered, we were billed 8 euro's each and the choice was - cereal, melon, croissant or bread with ham / cheese. In the past we have paid less for breakfast and have received much more choice for our money.
Review 103:The hotel was lovely and quaint on the main village street, room was very clean, comfortable and was of generous size, the staff were very obliging and polite. We ate a 3 course meal in the restaurant at night and whilst I ordered an incorrect starter the rest of the meal was lovely with good portions. Would definitely stay here again if our visit was for a couple of days.
Review 104:Nice warm comfortable place to stay staff very friendly .
Review 105:Restaurant was superb, traditional French fare at a high standard in lovely old dining room. Secure off road parking
Review 106:the bathroom though well equipped was small and needed updating
Review 107:excellent restaurant, very helpful staff, unusually good parking facilities
Review 108:Nothing
Review 109:Have stayed here several times. Always friendly and welcoming. Restaurant is good.
Review 110:The great staff and fabulous food
Review 111:Having to log on to the wi-fi every 20 minutes was rather irksome but a small niggle.
Review 112:Big spacious room, brilliant shower. Friendly helpful staff. Great food in restaurant. Excellent value for money!
Review 113:Good location. No problem with parking. Staff helpful.
Review 114:Room a bit austere - no pictures; severe colour scheme
Review 115:Pet friendly. Location - good access to Calais Restaurant - excellent food
Review 116:Good room, nice staff, free off road parking. Close to sea front and eateries.
Review 117:The atmosphere and quality of food and wine in the restaurant
Review 118:Wifi wasn't very good
Review 119:Very comfortable bed, clean, great shower,
Review 120:Perfect hotel for a weekend away with friends but have also done it with young children and would have to say the same. Spot on.
Review 121:Breakfast ok but basic, no lounge area to sit
Review 122:Very central, comfortable hotel. Would recommend
Review 123:Great location with free parking. Excellent restaurant and very helpful staff.
Review 124:restaurany was shut when we arrived so no meals/sandwiches available
Review 125:admitted pets with no additional costs
Review 126:Lovely central hotel, with parking, (free) good breakfast,
Review 127:Position of thr toilet in room (28)
Review 128:Breakfast and helpfulness of staff
