Reviews for Hôtel Central
Review 1:Although in town centre there is very little going on in the evenings. Most bars close early and few restaurants. No parking available other than on road.
Review 2:Management really helpful and made us welcome even though they spoke little English and we spoke little French.
Review 3:In the center of town, close to everything, also Office de Tourisme, with very efficient, helpful and English speaking staff. Nice, quiet room, very comfortable bed and a practical bathroom. Nice breakfast and kind and helpful, English speaking owners.
Review 4:There was a bit of a heatwave...and the rooms are not air conditioned nor do they have fans.
Review 5:I came to Digne les Bains to visit the Alexandra David Neel Museum, which was just great. I was traveling without a car so needed a central location, which I sure got. There are some lovely walks into the beautiful countryside and the town itself is pretty authentic, with some nice restaurants and friendly people.
Review 6:Our room opened onto the main street which was a bit noisy in the morning and evening. For a previous stay, we had a room opening onto the side street and quieter.
Review 7:Traveling by train, we could easily walk to the hotel (10 min.) and from the hotel we could explore the older part of Digne and access hiking trails.
Review 8:Plenty of free street parking all around hotel. Across the street from a grocery store and within 10 minute walk of 30 restaurants. Rooms are quaint, but clean and an exceptional value. Wonderful, included, breakfast. No A/C, but window opens to pedestrianized street. Had a quiet, restful night.
Review 9:This hotel has character. The generous sized room was beautifully decorated with flowers which made it feel very homely. The toilet/shower room was spacious enough to dry yourself without being afraid of knocking stuff off the basin. The hotel was centrally located in the town - it was easy to find, and within a few hundred yards of several eating places.
Review 10:No lift, no air-con but good value and lovely couple in charge
Review 11:Location was good, staff were extremely nice, steep climb to my room on floor 3 with no lift. VERY hot in August with no air-conditioning.
Review 12:Wi-fi was a bit "fragile". Hot choc for breakfast was watery.
Review 13:Central position (& parking fairly easy) Staff very friendly. The structure is "old-style" with a pleasing character.
Review 14:Might be a bit olde worlde for some. Furniture getting a bit old. Lack of power points in the room. Wifi coverage was poor in our room, but it was at the end of a corridor.
Review 15:Lovely friendly proprietors, great location, interesting decor. Free wifi.
Review 16:Poor wi-fi (not really a big deal for me but for some it would be) Lack of AC or Fan Couldn't open windows as we were facing the front of the hotel
Review 17:The location The couple running the Hotel The cleanliness The original features, i.e. old wooden beams, old furniture
Review 18:The owner was most courteous and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean yet full of character.

Review 38:Cleanliness, breakfast, great value, location and friendly owner.
Review 39:This was the perfect hotel for our needs - as its name suggests, dead central, with decent rooms and bathrooms and a perfectly good breakfast.
Review 40:It is not cheap.
Review 41:Very clean and organized. Well located in downtown. Good breakfast.
Review 42:very confortable and friendly

Review 49:Position
Review 50:Hotel is right in the centre. Parking is possible in front of hotel. Very helpful staff. He even helped us with the luggage! We definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 51:actually nothing
Review 52:very gracious hosts very clean modern bath small room, but just right for my wife and I. no air or fan, but not needed. would definitely stay again
Review 53:This town was very quiet when we visited on a weekend in late May. Notmany tourists. Nice local Saturday market. We hiked in the geologicpark, and ate where there were crowds of locals.
Review 54:V friendly owners (however only lady speaks English) V good breakfast Hotel was clean , nice quite old fashion style Quite good location to visit Parc du Verdon (if travelling by car)
Review 55:Breakfast was lovely but exactly the same every day. Not a problem unless you are staying more than a few days. There were waterproof mattress covers on the beds under the sheets.Crunchy and hot. We took them off and they were totally fine with it.
Review 56:The couple that ran the hotel were very nice and attentive. The wife spoke some English which was quite helpful. The hotel was centrally located with free parking lots around it within a few blocks. The recommended restaurants were great.
Review 57:The welcome was very good and the owner was very willing to provide local information. The hotel is central and therefore near to eating places and places of interest.
Review 58:Unfortunately the internet didn't work in the front bedroom on the street side.
Review 59:The owners are really warm, welcoming and helpful. Location is great. Very neat and comfortable hotel.
Review 60:There was nothing that we found to be objectionable.
Review 61:This is a classic, older French downtown hotel, not one of those modern chain hotels that all look alike and have no charm. But to us the best thing about it was the staff. They were helpful, warm, and kind. They went out of their way to make recommendations on places to eat, places that were their favorites. When we would talk with the proprietor about things to do in the area, other staff members would join in in a delightful conversation. Breakfasts were reasonably priced, filling and very typically French. Great baguettes and croissants!
Review 62:There is no lift (like many older hotels in France), but the hotelier helped up with our bags.
Review 63:Hotel Central was an unexpected gem with old style rooms sporting exposed beams and highly polished dark-wood furniture. Relatively large bathroom by French standards and everything was immaculately clean. We only spent one night, using it as a mid-way stop on the way to another destination. In hindsight, I would have stayed here longer.
Review 64:Right in town. Nice proprietors, free WiFi, comfortable beds. This was a nice little budget hotel a block from the big square. We were fortunate to be in time for the Wednesday morning street fair.
Review 65:Based on price and star rating, we came with low expectations. We were very very pleased with the place and feel it is under rated. The staff were very helpful. Close to everything in the centre of town.
Review 66:If you want to see lavender, there are no buses going round trip so you will have to rent a car. Puimoisson is a great place to see lavender up until around July 22nd, but it's best to go before July 15th when they start harvesting.
Review 67:This hotel is right on the main Street and a five minute walk from the train station. The decore is charming and rooms are immaculate. There is a lovely fountain you can hear from your room. The owners are friendly and accomodating. This is old world hospitality at its best.
Review 68:This was a very quaint hotel. It was a little older, but the rooms have been redone. The couple was very nice and while they did not speak any english, they were very understanding of my use of a translator and speaking like a 5 year old. The town is lovely, with plenty of small restaurants with good food and good prices. The breakfast was nice and worth doing one day, but the patisserie across the street is much less expensive and offers some great pasteries and quiche. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to be in the area.
Review 69:We only stayed one night, a Monday, when most restaurants were closed. It detracted from the impression of Digne.
Review 70:The Hotel was neat and tidy, and offered value for money. The ederly couple running the hotel were helpful and friendy and gave the impression they keep a high standard. Centrally located, hence the name. Convenient and easy to access.
Review 71:We stayed on the 3rd floor,no lift. Difficult to stop outside the hotel to unload heavy cases as road is narrow. Free parking several minutes walk away.
Review 72:Central position. Rooms modernised.
Review 73:Nothing
Review 74:Warm welcome by the owners. Central location from the bus station and facilities in the town. Clean and functional for a two star hotel. The breakfasts were traditional French but we could add as our diet needed some additional protein `to do the activities planned for each day. Highly recommended. We enjoyed our 4 night stay in an interesting town with plenty of outdoor activities for all ages.
Review 75:The reception isn't open from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, to allow the proprietors time off, understandably. Our train arrived early afternoon, so we had to request someone to be there when we arrived and that was arranged. If we hadn't notice that closure time, we would have been out on the street with our luggage for 4 hours.
Review 76:The location was good, central to the old part of the Digne, and walkable distance from the train station. The room was a comfortable size, well furnished with small table, two chairs, twin beds, large clothes wardrobe, TV. Hairdryer available upon request. Bathroom very clean, good size.
