Reviews for Le Rex Hôtel
Review 1:I reached 15 mins before 10 pm...front desk staff not arranged dinner for me even though restaraunt time was up to 10 PM.
Review 2:room, specifically shower was good.
Review 3:The overall décor is dark, grim, oppressive and uncomfortable. The grey/black corridors have low ceilings. None of the chairs are really comfortable to sit in. The room itself is very dark when you walk into it. Dark blue/brown/grey carpet and curtains. Dark wardrobes, desk and bedside tables. The curtains were closed, despite the fact that there was still bright daylight outside. When I threw open the curtains to let in the light, I was confronted with a view of a large abandoned window box with nothing but a weed growing in it! The three unusual pull-out wardrobes are heavy and difficult to access because you can only use one side of each at a time, and the lighting is poor, so it is difficult to see the colours of items stored in them. The bath is highly stylised and looks inviting, but is uncomfortable. The faucet is in the middle, so two people can sit in the bath facing each other, but it's not as generous as it at first appears, and the harshly angled ends do not encourage relaxation. The gym is awful. Dark, low-ceilinged and very small, with five machines, one of which was out of order. The breakfast offered a lot of choice, but the items we tasted were mediocre. (Scrambled eggs from powder, grey sausage and bacon, cheap smoked salmon, breads, coffee from a dispenser). Definitely not worth 18 Euros a head!
Review 4:At first, the trendy, stylised design with an emphasis on different, unusual chairs in plastic or velvet, mostly themed around roses, seemed interesting. The room and bathroom were large and the bed comfortable. The glass wall of the bathroom and the high quality bathroom fittings offer an initial sense of luxury. There is a separate private toilet with its own door. Service at the front desk was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast area is bright and spacious, which is a relief after experiencing the rest of the décor!
Review 5:The climate control in our room was the worst I have seen for a long time. The windows would not open but the AC was kept high enough so it would not kick in. The shower had no vent and half the ceiling lights were hear-producing spot lights. So we kept half the room in darkness and slept on the bed all night without a cover. Bizarre for a 4 star hotel. Couldn't wait to get out to the fresh air.
Review 6:WiFi was extremely slow! I received a router just for my room and with LAN connection it was fine - good service. But first night it was horrible if you have to transfer files for business...
Review 7:Design of the rooms – especially the glass style bath rooms – is superb!
Review 8:Modern spacious rooms. Huge bathroom (I've stayed in smaller single bedrooms!) Didn't really like how the cupboards opened, not your normal hinged or sliding left/right doors but you pulled the whole cupboards out which were on the heavy side. More stylish than practical. Really liked the fact the rooms were cleaned and made up whenever we left the room at any time of the day. Reception friendly and helpful but some had poor English for a 4 star hotel. Plat du jour at the restaurant was good value and the food was at a very high standard. Breakfast good but a bit over-priced. Lovely space to relax. Hmm, no English channels on TV! Tsk tsk the French eh.
Review 9:The gym is not a gym. It offers a treadmill, a rowing machine and a stair master (all outdated) in a tiny room. Where are the barbell and free weights?
Review 10:I liked the cleanliness and architecture very much. Also the ambience was nice in the room and reception.
Review 11:The pillows were more like bags of small pieces of foam which made it difficult to get comfortable in an otherwise comfortable bed.
Review 12:Location was great, room was great ....very modern
Review 13:Needed to wear earplugs the first night because of so much celebration activity late into the night.
Review 14:In the center of the city, near the start of the Tour de France.
Review 15:No welcome tray with coffee or tea facility in room. It would be also good to have a free bottle of water.
Review 16:The rooms are big and niceley designed. Very helpful staff, good location.
Review 17:There was a power failure about 22:00 and went in and off for ages. No one apologised for the inconvenience which stopped me working as I was using the internet. VERY inconvenient!
Review 18:The width of the garage opening and difficulty finding it even with the map
Review 19:The window lights, the bathroom the 7 foot bed Waking up and taking the pooch the the jardim Massey
Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:In town centre very convenient to shop & for restaurants. Rooms modern, spacious & very clean. Car parking excellent.. Jay at front desk was very kind & helpful & a mind of information, sorry we were only staying for one night.
Review 22:The breakfast was very expensive, so we did not stay at the hotel for breakfast.
Review 23:Very modern and nicely decorated. Very clean, large rooms. Nice welcoming from the staff at the reception desk. Large comfortable bed.
Review 24:Nothing.
Review 25:Tarbes is a lovely place to stay and this hotel is very well situated, close to a wide choice of restaurants. The staff could not be more helpful and the rooms were very spacious. We have a dog and this was no problem at all. My disabled father also travelled with us and he needs a wheelchair. Access was easy. We were allowed to park outside the hotel to unload but needed to use the local car park as we had a roof rack. The hotel gave us a ticket for the car park and it only cost 3 euros 50. It was close by and no inconvenience.
Review 26:The coffee at breakfast. A good breakfast with plenty of choice even at €18. Spoiled by coffee from a machine! We expected more from a hotel with this rating. However, if you ask you can have fresh coffee. We will keep it in mind for next time.
Review 27:Loved the bathroom Walk in shower does it for me every time. Spacious bedroom, quiet, calm. Helpful and considerate staff
Review 28:Only the weather!!
Review 29:Bright modern well designed rooms. Courteous effecient staff. Very good breakfast - especially appreciated full service at 5.15 am on Sunday for the guests staying who were taking part in L'etape du tour bike race. Misunderstanding with a space in the car park was quickly dealt with by the evening manager. All in all an exceptional performance.

Review 73:Car parking charges are a little steep particularly for aprovincial town
Review 74:The decor is unusual but very likeable. Rooms are large and there isplenty of storage space. I highly recomend this hotel.
Review 75:Absolutely gorgeous room!! I was initially worried about the privacy of the glass bathroom, but with the curtain pulled, you really can't see in. Plus, the toilet is in a separate room, not inside the glass bathroom - so no privacy concerns there! Great location. Reviews I read prior to booking talked about the outside coloured lighting being a problem, but the window curtains are heavy and we didn't notice the outside lighting at all during the night. Would definately stay there again, and would recommend it.
Review 76:hotel car parking
Review 77:Good facilities, excellent rooms, good food but limited menue. Parking expensive a lot cheaper across the road. Overall a relaxing hotel after a hard days work.
Review 78:No iron or coffee/tea setup in room. Unique pull out closets areinteresting, but not very convenient or functional. No english menu inrestaurant.
Review 79:Friendly staff, modern decor.
Review 80:But no aircondition in the bathroom and a very unpleasant, unfriendly service when we asked quiet late for dinner. You could tell that they were on the run and not willing to look for making your stay cofortable. We asked for room service and as we asked for two chairs, we were told that one could sit on the bed edge ! Nothing else warm than a croque monsieur and not even a salad. Never again ! Coffee was a sort of american coffee, which was ok for me but not for people use to strong coffee. It was more a sort of jus de chaussette...
