Reviews for Residence Le Bellevue
Review 1:The exterior gives the impression of Fawlty Towers with the letters falling off the signs. But the interior is well maintained. The car park is we very tight: larger saloon cars will struggle. The hotel faces on to a main road but inside is quiet.
Review 2:This is is a furnished flat, not a hotel room. Great value for money, very nice decor, terraces, friendly staff. We were delighted with it even though we just needed somewhere to lay our heads.
Review 3:It was a little bit farther than we would have liked from city centre which necessitated using the car for getting around. However, it was on a main route which made finding it very easy.
Review 4:The staff was very helpful and super friendly. We would definitely go back to this property.
Review 5:Creeky old wooden stairs... they didn't bother us since we were on the top floor, however I bet we bothered people as we walked down them.
Review 6:Free wifi worked well, free enclosed parking area, clean room with everything we needed for self-catering; soap, dish sponge, pots, pans, utensils. Good location for someone who isn't spending much time in the city of Caen but instead driving to all of the cities around the area. They also had a booklet with information about the aparthotel and about the area which is nice. The man at the front desk didn't speak much English but since we had that booklet we had a lot of the information we needed. Also pretty close to the shopping and restaurant area.
Review 7:Couldn't close curtains and have window open at the same time
Review 8:A good base to visit surrounding areas. Friendly staff. Room compact but had everything.
Review 9:It was a bit outside of Caen centre. The breakfast was a rip off, €8 for toast basically.
Review 10:The hotel didn't look like much from the outside but once inside it was beautiful.
Review 11:Slide shower area (in the bathroom) Poor wifi signal Square Pillow No Air conditioner (we didn't need it)
Review 12:Heat Kitchen Good bathroom Breakfast in the room Very silent room Good and safe parking Manager (owner?) very friendly
Review 13:No real complaints but would suggest that the wooden staircase could be carpeted to reduce noise from people using it.
Review 14:Smooth efficient check in. Room was clean, comfortable and of a good size. Private parking was very useful. All round this property was very good value for the price paid.
Review 15:Even though it was far from the centre of town, the bus stopped right outside the hotel which was incredibly convenient. The helpfulness of the owner was also lovely.
Review 16:Smelt badly of cigarettes and the kitchen had a smell of it's own. No pressure in shower and the owner spoke no English.
Review 17:Location was great. Parking on site and comfortable bed. Supermarket right across the road. Wifi worked well when it did work. Budget hotel. Very old and dated.
Review 18:People in the reception did not speak english, internet wireless conectiondid not work, the opening time for the reception desk was not in agreement to the information provided in the web page. General confort, equipment and quality of the room was poor.
Review 19:All good.
Review 20:Great, good sized studio type room with cooking facilities. Friendly, helpful staff. excellent (walking distance) location if attending events at Caen's sporting venues /stadiums. On bus route to CAEN Memorial, supermarket, bakery, laundromat, etc close by.
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:As a family you'd only use a hotel as an overnight stay en route elsewhere. For that this was perfect. Off road parking, easy to find, shops within 5 min walk, clean tidy. Self catering in room so no need to pay for the hotel breakfast.
Review 23:Lighting could be a little more bright
Review 24:Great place, very clean, but you have to know some French. The gentleman is very nice and speaks very slow so you understand. Kitchen is well prepared. Shower is a bit small but works well. No need for air con as Normandy is very cool even in the summer (similar to San Francisco weather). I recommend renting a car and driving in Normandy - it's the only way to go to cover a lot of area in Caen and the D-day beaches. 1.5 hours to Mont St. Michel, 1.5 hours to Rouen, 1.5 hours to Etretat/Honfleur, 1/2 hour to Falaise and Bayeux, Arromanches, and Omaha Beach, 2 hours to St. Malo. There is free parking at the hotel. Gas, supermarket, and patisserie are very close. 10 min from city center by car - no worries about parking.
Review 25:The apartment was very small and the kitchen area tiny so not very easy to prep food there. I burnt my hand on the ring because a lack of room. Toaster and kettle were up on a high shelf which was a bit dangerous. Purple stipple walls are not very restful. We booked for 2 nights and then wanted an extra night. The owner said we could stay in the original room we booked and move for the third night. The second room was an extra €26.00 presumably because it was larger but the kitchenette was just as tiny and had less utensils than the smaller room. Also the beds were singles. I didn't think it was worth the extra.
Review 26:Good location and has a kitchenette which is great for economising on eating out. Opposite the Aldi supermarket. Free parking.
Review 27:The hotel had excellant access by bus and by car as well as a supermarket across the road. Facilties nearby included a post office and pharmacy ( two bus stops and within easy walking distance), and a local hairdresser.
Review 28:Bed not good (noisy and extremely soft, like it is very old) to be able to have Internet connection, you must watch a couple minutes commercial and then it only lasts for 1 hour, after that, you must go to the process again... very annoying
Review 29:Cleanliness Friendly staff
Review 30:No bars or restaurants nearby
Review 31:Bus stop outside the door.
Review 32:Good location. The owner let us have the door code so we could letourselves in at 01.00
Review 33:Room was a bit small for 4 people
Review 34:Easy check-in, very welcoming one man band, ideal place for stop over, good simple breakfast. Secure parking.
Review 35:Small room somewhat dated.
Review 36:Private/secure parking, clean room, kitchen facility
Review 37:Simple but good hotel. The fresh bread at breakfast was superb. Kitchenette was small but functional and had all we needed
Review 38:Plastic mattress cover under the sheets!
Review 39:Reasonably priced and cheerful.
Review 40:The toilet is too small. There is not elevator.
Review 41:there isn't lift
Review 42:it's a good start point to visit Normandy
Review 43:Decent size room Good location
Review 44:No airCon or fans, beds uncomfortable and squeaked whenever anyone in them moved.
Review 45:Location was good, near to main town. Wifi free and fast.
Review 46:value service
Review 47:The property doesn't have a lift, which could be an issue for some people. The property doesn't have air conditioning, which could be an issue in the summer. Staff speaks little English which could be a problem for some travelers, but we were able to manage. The beds were a little small, but for one night it was not an issue.
Review 48:The staff was really friendly. The rooms were clean. The property was located next to a bus stop, which made using public transport easy. Traditional French breakfast (croissants, begets, jam and orange juice/coffee) was delivered/served in your room.
Review 49:Long wait for the ligne 11 bus.
Review 50:The service was excellent. The staff truly cared about me. The timely delivery of daily breakfast to my room was an unexpected delight
Review 51:Requested a crib be set up for us and they didn't have one, luckily we had a travel crib with us we used at a different hotel in Paris so we set it up but waste of space for those two wooden folding chairs to be in the room. Be warned, no elevator! Luckily we were only up one floor. Staff at reception spoke no English. Breakfast was a joke, glad we didn't take their offer of a cup of coffee and one croissant for over six euro per person. Not a very good selection of restaurants nearby, but we had a car to go to downtown area to find a place to eat.
Review 52:Easy to find, hotel right off Main Street, free parking and free wifi. Clean and had a small kitchenette. Bath tub was nice. Dishwashing soap and small collection of dishes for our use. Man at reception was nice and helped us carry some of our bags to our room but he spoke no English.
Review 53:Though 3 separate bookings (1 night, 2 nights and 2 nights) we were staying for 5 consequetive nights the receptionist ?manager stated we were only booked in for 1 night (he had minimal English & we had minimal French). After much discussion decided he could accomodate us for a second night. The following morning he was full of 'Pardon, Pardon' - he found our booking for the 5 nights but stated we would have to move room after the 2nd night. Duely, on the third morning we packed up and went to reception to find which room we wouls be in for the next 3 nights. It was a difeerent person in reception who informed us we didn't move after all & spent the 5 nights in the same room!! Pure disorganisation
Review 54:Secure carpark, Lidl across the street, easy access to the motorway
Review 55:room was hot a small fan would be a good investment for this hotel
Review 56:neat and clean friendly staff very helpful great to have a fridge and hot plate in room We had a budget room so very small
Review 57:The room was perfect and clean. The staff is very kind and everything was OK. The exit to the AutoRoute is just 2 minutes away. It's our third time there and we will repeat!!
Review 58:The staff were very, very helpful with places of interest in Caen. The Hotel although old is well cared for and very well maintained. The rooms were clean, comfortable and value for money.
Review 59:Rooms smelled like old cooked food because they had kitchenettes and poor air circulation.
Review 60:Staff allowed us to leave our bags for the day after checkout.
Review 61:The entire hotel had a horrible smell to it and the rooms weren't very clean. It was difficult to find someone at the hotel to check out/ check in. The rooms were very cold and the heater very small. The shower head put water out in spurts. Both of our rooms were nothing like the pictures on this site.
Review 62:The kitchen was a nice feature.
Review 63:Room small, bathroom/shower small & for us only suitable for a one night stay.
Review 64:Great price & value for money for a one night stay. We arrived on the ferry late evening & were setting off early next day so a cheap (easy to find with sat nav),clean place, this was it. Manager/owner was helpful & friendly.
Review 65:The host wasn't particularly friendly. Others in our group weren'timpressed with the room they got; it hadn't been renovated and thoughclean was pretty tired looking
Review 66:Our room looked recently renovated, was lovely and was very clean. Theyserved a French breakfast in our room that was delicious.
Review 67:We stopped at this hotel on the way to and from our holiday destination and chose it for the studios wiht small kitchens. With 5 persons in our party we stayed in different rooms each stay all of which were very well equipt and clean. They were all decorated very differently and lots of thought had gone into comfort etc/
Review 68:There was no air conditioning and with the windows open there was a fair amount of traffic noise.
Review 69:This totally satisfied our requirements for an overnight stopover. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, the continental breakfast was adequate and the service was excellent. There was ample car parking and overall was good value for money.
Review 70:location, because there was nowhere local that was open on a Saturdy night to sit down for a meal.
Review 71:Good breakfast, off-road parkng, cleanliness, freindliness
Review 72:Room is on the small side for a family of 4 (two young children). on our second day at the hotel we had no electricy in our room. Had to wait the next day for someone to fix it. Also we did not have hot water one evening.
Review 73:Location, near shops and centre of Caen. Good if you want to self-cater.
Review 74:Nice and wonderful room for my kids and for my wife and me. The choiceis the best one when travelling with childs. The staff is friendly. Iwill go back again!
Review 75:The stuff was very freindly and helpful. Clean and quite spacious room.Bus stop in front of the hotel - connection to the city centre.Breakfast served to the room - good choice of food. Strongly recommendthis hotel.
Review 76:We only stayed one night, but with the separate bedroom and nice kitchenwe were very comfortable. My sister, niece and friend were also pleased. With gps in our car it was pretty easy finding the castle, marina etc.Thank you!
Review 77:Dated decor and furnishings.
Review 78:Reasonable place for a stop over on route to holiday. Staff friendly.Stayed in a family room/studio which was clean, adequately furnished anda fair enough standard for a budget price hotel. You get what you payfor. Breakfast brought to room at requested time, adequate standard.Good off street parking, easy access and wifi available.
Review 79:Our studio was too close to the main road. Can hear the trafficeat all hours.Unfortunately, our neighbour was not too fussy aboout noise levels, despite it being day light. She should learn that it was not her home!
Review 80:The staff were friendly & efficient. They helped to make our stay enjoyable. We hope to return in the near future. We will recommend your hotel to our friends. It was a pleasure stay at Le Bellevue!!

Review 83:small bed
Review 84:It was our first trip to Europe. The Bellevue Caen was good for your basic needs. Rather brightly decorated and a small bed but the staff was marvelous and very helpful.
Review 85:The bed inside the family room was very uncomfortable and therefore wedid not sleep so well.
Review 86:The service was great. We booked the family room. Other than that, thebreakfast was decent for the price and the arrival of it prompt. Thewifi was okay but kept tossing you out, but good enough.
Review 87:We arrived late after getting off ferry, found the Hotel easy, the roomwas on the small side but very adiquate for what we needed, it wasspotlessly clean with every convenience and super market across theroad. We had a good nights sleep and would stay ther again
