Reviews for Hotel Le Chamonix
Review 1:The pictures did not give the right impression. The hotel was tired and not modern at all. We heard all the neighbours so it was hard to sleep. The breskfast is not at all worth the extra price of 10 euros, 1 euro would be more than enough...
Review 2:Hotel room had no toilet paper or kettle in room upon arrival, however staff was friendly and provided both upon request. Room did have a foul smell throughout duration of stay. There is no parking however a parking garage is only two blocks away at st michel and for only 12euro/night it is affordable
Review 3:Awesome location right in the heart of town, the location outweighed the negatives for the price we paid.
Review 4:Bathroom is very small but the shower worked well. For snowy days, there can be a loud snow tractor noise starting very early in the morning. If you stay on the first floor, it is directly above the bar. However, the music is turned off by about 11 PM. There is also no lift in the building.
Review 5:It is in a prime location in the city center across from the Tourist Office. Everything is within walking distance and especially for taking bus to other ski areas, the bus station is only a few minutes walk.
Review 6:Wi-fi didn't work in our room on the third floor and barely worked in the lobby. No elevator. In France, the third floor is actually the fourth storey of the building (the ground floor starts at zero). Can't blame the staff since there was only one person but we had to lug all of our stuff up and down the stairs.
Review 7:Cozy room with a beautiful view in the heart of Chamonix right next to the tourism office. Charming balcony. Receptionists were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great.
Review 8:Hotel did not have parking although there is a car park close by.
Review 9:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Excellent location. Good value for money.
Review 10:No internet throughout our stay! - staff didn't care much. Too many stairs -- 67 -- to get to the 4th floor, good for some to have an extra push after a ski day! not for me!
Review 11:The staff at the hotel were very helpful and spent a lot of time answering our questions. They were the most pleasant staff we encountered. They made the stay delightful with their recommendations for meals and locations to visit in the area. The location was terrific with a gorgeous view of the alps from our window, and it was only a short walk from the railway station. I would definitely return to this hotel.
Review 12:no lift, no parking, no water bottles, weak signal on wi fi, bath towels were too small, cleanliness was not great, Room heater was not adjustable - it was too hot
Review 13:Staff and location are great. The view of mt Blanc was magnificent from the room. Shops, tourism office all at door step.
Review 14:Room 102--Tap broken badly on sink---shower head bracket broken-----strange smell on landing.Bit surprised rooms let out in this condition.
Review 15:view from bedroom window amazing.
Review 16:Room 206 had great lighting and was a lovely bright room. The gals at the front desk were friendly, helpful, and very efficient!!!! Lovely people!!!!'
Review 17:Liz, We are in Arrola, Switzerland. We had quite a day of traveling from Chamonix. First a bus, then a train, another train, and a bus again. Shish, but, we arrived at the place we are staying at Noon. Lovely room Bob got for us. We hiked around the area taking in the gorgeous views. The first three pictures were of Col de Balme out of Le Tour up canyon from Chamonix. The rest are from today in Arolla.Beautiful little town at the end of the bus line. It was a crazy ride to get here. Very competent driver but a crazy narrow road with a big bus. Love, Carol
Review 18:WiFi NEVER worked the 3 days we were there. Staff said the wifi does not work on iphones, but it also did not work on our laptops. But there is a free wifi hotspot at the tourism office across the street; Bed was too firm and towels were thin and shredding..
Review 19:Location is fantastic and hotel has lots of charm. View of Mt Blanc was exceptional from our quadruple room (#205) with a balcony!
Review 20:Rooms are very noisy - wooden floors with lots of noise from other rooms. Sliding partitions (not really doors) on bathrooms provided little privacy (certainly in room 103. Room 207 was better). Skip the hotel breakfast and head for the bakery across the road from the Tourist Office - it's lovely and much cheaper.
Review 21:Good location. Very helpful staff.
Review 22:Wifi was very unreliable.worked for some people and other people could not connect. Storage of luggage while away between two stays was available but totally disorganised considering the number of people using it.
Review 23:Friendly staff and great central location.
Review 24:Great location, nice staff, good breakfast, fair price for a modest, functional room. Easy walk from/to the train station and lifts. Many restaurants and shops nearby. No need for a car. And, wow, those mountains!
Review 25:Had to carry up suitcases 3 flights of stairs. Breakfast a little overpriced.
Review 26:Fabulous location. Ask for room overlooking front square .. A little noisy but beautiful!
Review 27:nothing - suited our needs perfectly
Review 28:great location in the centre of Chamonix - amazing view out of room and bathroom windows of the glacier. Receptionist spoke v good english and tourist info just opposite hotel. No parking with hotel but public car park 500 m away and can leave car there for upto 48 hours. 12 euros for 24 hours.
Review 29:How crowded the room was and the TV did not work. Carpet caused the door to be very hard to open and no lift.
Review 30:The location and that it was clean and the staff was friendly.
Review 31:Parking possibities only in the parking house some hundred meters away. Really modest breakfast.Room was worn-out. No lift.
Review 32:Excellent location in the certer of the town.
Review 33:Better than expected ....
Review 34:Great location. Helpful staff. A bit tight and squeezy but a ski hotel after all. Perfect for us as we didnt expect to be in the hotel much - out and about. And didnt want to pay lots of money ...
Review 35:Good value with quaint character. We were able to find free parking nearby, but this was early June, and I can imagine during high season this would be much more difficult.
Review 36:Don´t pay for the breakfast because it's poor. Go instead to the excellent bakery across the street!
Review 37:The hotel has a good location by the church, the tourist information, the bakery and a small square. There is a great view from the small balcony!
Review 38:Small room and badly isolated. Don't take a room on the first floor, the music from the bar below will not let you sleep. Really annoying when you are tired from a day in the mountains and the following day you need an early start. Breakfast not included. There is no lift. Reception is not open 24h. Staff was not rude, but clearly not giving their best towards customer satisfaction. WiFi was free but working irregularly.
Review 39:Location in the centre of Chamonix, within a few minutes walking of the cogwheel train to Mer de Glace and the cable car to Aiguille de Midi. Inexpensive in comparison with the crazy hotel prices in Chamonix.
Review 40:The wifi was poor and there was a large street light just outside our balcony.
Review 41:The room was comfortable. The view was fantastic and the location was ideal.
Review 42:Kelly at the front desk speaks wonderful English and was really helpful. The Visitor information is right behind the hotel. Great location off the main drag. Will stay there again.
Review 43:The only downside was parking. Only street (if you could find any) or a parking house close by.
Review 44:My husband and I booked this hotel the day before arriving so we weren't sure what we would get. The hotel is perfectly located with everything easily walkable. No elevator, which some people may not like but it didn't bother us. We loved it so much we booked another night and switched rooms. Our second room had a balcony and a beautiful view. Staff was super helpful and always friendly. We would 100% stay here again.
Review 45:The wifi was pretty slow but it worked anyway.
Review 46:Everything is nice about this small but cozy hotel. Staff, all female, were so prompt and nice to us. We had to print a bus ticket and they did it for us. Also, whenever we asked them about whatever, all of them were very keen to help us. We were two Asian ladies with lots of questions. Diane even showed me the webcam of Mont Blanc to tell whether it is foggy over there before climbing. From our room, we could see the Mont Blanc, square and the beautiful cathedral. Restaurants and cafes are very close, only 5 min walk. The bed was comfortable. The TV had enough channels. The bathroom was small but well divided, so no problem I faced. If I return there, I would definitely stay in Le Chamonix again.
Review 47:Funny chemical smell in the hallways of the hotel, no lift, breakfast expensive - if you go to the bar beneath the hotel breakfast is cheaper. All in all you definitely pay for what you get and I think you could get more for your money elsewhere in Chamonix.
Review 48:Good Location, staff very friendly and informative, bed comfortable and room very clean.
Review 49:One of our poles got damaged whilst stored in the storage area downstairs. It wouldn't have been staff, but we suspect a pole was swapped by another guest! It did cost us 20 euros with the hire company but was NOT the hotels fault.
Review 50:Staff, warm rooms, comfy beds, plenty pillows, fantastic view - basically everything!
Review 51:Breakfast area looked very small but left early so never tried it.
Review 52:Last minute booking to stay over night. Good value for money in an expensive resort. Warm welcome and clean rooms.
Review 53:No elevator, bathroom looked new, but drains had a strong stench ofsewer. There was a ski school event at the square in front of thehotel with very loud music until 11pm and then they were taking thestreet stalls apart for another hour or so- not very convenient forearly risers on a ski agenda. (The event has no connection with thehotel, although it supposedly takes place every sat during the highseason in winter.)
Review 54:Old-style rooms, views of Mont Blanc (on a clear day), next to a walkingstreet with shops, restaurants and bars. Extremely kind and helpfulstaff, all native English speakers. Very close to ski slopes and a trainstation to access a glacier from.
Review 55:Parking. Good luck.
Review 56:It was right off the main street and was quiet enough but in the middle of everything. That worked very nice. The two individuals I worked with, one I only know from emails, were outstanding. And the area is beautiful
Review 57:Lack of lift meant long haul of luggage up 3 floors.
Review 58:Central location and warm welcome. English speaking staff very helpful. Easy pleasant walking in town for restaurants and amenities. Good ski/boot room in basement.
Review 59:My stay was great - if I had to pick something I would say the room was a bit dark and the bathroom is quite small but the location, room size and friendly staff made up for this!
Review 60:Big sized room , very comfortable bed. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 61:I brought my laptop with me to work at night. To be honest, the Wifi was frustrating. It was really slow and disconnected many times. Since no lifts were open, Wifi was something important.
Review 62:comfort bed, good location
Review 63:The hotel is awesome. The room was so pretty, so neat, the bed so comfortable, bedsheets so white and new, shower was also quite nice. The owner (I suppose) is the nicest lady and overall the hotel is very very good, cozy, and made my time in Chamonix even more pleasant. Location is absolutely perfect - you cant get any better than this place: right in front of the tourist office and to a pretty nice boulangerie, a few steps from the main street, where all the shops and restaurants are. Wi-fi worked very well. When I go back to Chamonix, I'll definitely try to book a room at this place. Also, it has a very "French" atmosphere, a "french cottage" vibe that I really liked.
Review 64:No lifts. The stairs were too narrow for us and made us to carry our luggage all the way up to our room at lev 2. The room was not sound proof either.
Review 65:The Location is good and easy access to other places.
Review 66:No off-street parking. Continental breakfast was good, but a little expensive at 9 Euros.
Review 67:Warm welcome, room was small but quiet, comfortable and clean. Good rate for such a central location
Review 68:The only dislike was having to leave and return home.....
Review 69:Central location, in a quiet area of Chamonix. A perfect choice for those who don't look for all the frills and extra cost of four star hotels. The beds are comfy, and the staff were all wonderful and very helpful. A real little gem in what can otherwise be an expensive town due to it's popularity. If I could, then I would give it an extra star!
Review 70:No elevator. Cramped bathroom. Expensive breakfast.
Review 71:Warm welcome. Restaurant advice. Very convenient location for train, shopping, and eating. Cleanliness.
Review 72:room a bit cramped but this wasnt important. we didnt eat the breakfast so cant comment on this.
Review 73:great location and views to Mt blanc. v helpful staff.
Review 74:Great views from your window of Mount Blanc. We were doing the TMB and they let us keep our extra suit cases and gear in their storage room, free of charge. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Great job Hotel Le Chamonix.
Review 75:No free parking for the guests although the nearest public parking is convenient and reasonable.
Review 76:Surely we will be back to this hotel for its location, cleanliness, tasty breakfast, and spacious room. Wifi was free, and the connection was good in our room on the 1st floor. The view from the balcony is great and gives extra value.
Review 77:The wifi is rather slow. The carpet should perhaps be replaced.
Review 78:The hotel is very strategically located. It might be a bit expensive for a two stars Hotel, but since everything in Chamonix is expensive, it is relatively ok. The staffs are very friendly. The view towards the mountain is GREAT.
Review 79:The room where we stayed in was on the 4th floor - there are no lifts/elevators in this hotel. W.C was on the other end of the room, kinda far from access to sink. Still, it's charming and I wouldn't mind staying there again.
Review 80:Very charming place, great views and the staff were friendly. Right across from Chamonix tourist office, St Michael church, walking distance to the train station.
Review 81:Excelent place with beautiful views and very good location. It´s very recomended if you want to be in Chamonix some days. I think than it´s cheaper than other hotels of the city.
