Reviews for Chambres d'hôtes Intra Muros
Review 1:Wonderful place which was extremely comfortable and in a great location in the centre of Arras yet nice and quiet. We really enjoyed the style and decor of the apartment. Breakfast was perfect, a nice selection and served in a wonderful dining room. The host, Gerard is extremely welcoming and friendly and really help to make our stay perfect.
Review 2:only the fact that we stayed just one night:))
Review 3:Charming guesthouse, lovely room, cleanliness. The owner is very kind and helpful, helped us with a lot of details regarding the region and the touristic attractions. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast accompanied by him and his little dog, in a warm dining with a garden view. The best experience ever, we will return given the chance:)
Review 4:The main double bed wasn't all that comfortable. Our host was very helpful and courteous.
Review 5:Our grandson really enjoyed the location near the station and had a lot of interest in the trains.
Review 6:As mature couple we found narrow and steep stairs a bit trying, The shower in the bathroom needs upgrade: there was no way to have a hands free shower.
Review 7:Charming host,, great decor, lovely time at breakfast and conversation plus excellent location.
Review 8:Would be better with a shower (not bath), parking can be difficult..
Review 9:Convenient location, genial host and a good breakfast. Comfortable rooms, although a bit dated.
Review 10:This is not your usual B& B. Its full of character. Gerard & his dog are very welcoming. Breakfast, which is taken in Gerard's delightful apartment is very good, lots of choice. Located near to station, very easy to get to local restaurants in the evening.
Review 11:The only problem we had was finding the building the first time. There is no obvious sign....just a tiny name tag on the door itself.
Review 12:Very friendly and helpful owner who served the delicious breakfast himself. Beautiful dining room with tons of antiques. Clean and fairly comfortable bedroom.
Review 13:Just wish there was a sitting room.
Review 14:Was a great place to stay! Enough beds for all six in our family, plus a little crib for our baby. Beautifully decorated and well serviced. Gorgeously laid out breakfast and rooms. Extremely close to the public transit, buses and trains! Would definitely stay there again.
Review 15:Free parking only in the evening and at night
Review 16:Perfect location, wonderful host, tasty breakfast in a family atmosphere, helpful assistance from M. Gerard.
Review 17:The owner of this property was an excellent host and made us most welcome. He gave us a wonderful breakfast each day and also helped us with directions and places to see in Arras and the surrounding area. His home was really beautiful and we feel very fortunate to have met such a charming man.
Review 18:Everything was lovely.
Review 19:The owner is very welcoming and friendly. The property is very well decorated throughout, and it has a lovely family-like feel. Location is perfect for city centre and train station. The French breakfast in the morning is served in a beautiful lounge with period furniture, and it is superb, with homemade jams, French brioche and lots more. Great value for money, perfect for families. Highly recommended.
Review 20:it's an older property and things are going to creak here & there, if you want sterile & boring go to a chain.
Review 21:So much more fun than a chain hotel. A very elegant breakfast in the most beautiful opulently decorated salon. Bedroom was spotlessly clean and a good size. Our host was charming and very attentive.
Review 22:It's a lovely little place, slightly quirky but we really enjoyed our stay. It's not easy to find (unless you have the postcode) as there is only a small sign in the window. We managed to park our three motorbikes right in front of the house and parking was free overnight. We were met by Gerard who gave us a warm welcome and showed us up to our room. We had the two bedroom suite on the top floor which was perfectly nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was great with a good choice of breads, meats and cheeses and Gerard sat with us. He really made us feel welcome in his home and so did his dog! Overall a great little find with a friendly welcoming host.
Review 23:Beautifully decorated ornate style house, spacious and clean room. Gerard, the owner was very friendly and helpful and made us a nice breakfast. Walking distance to the town centre and free parking outside overnight
Review 24:Very friendly Patron who was very house proud, and keen to pass on information about where to visit, not only in Arras, but the rest of the Pas de Calais
Review 25:The trains were a bit noisy at night when the windows were open but they were fine when closed. The parking was not ideal as it was quite busy and it was pay per hour parking from 6am - 10pm.
Review 26:The owner was extremely hospitable. We were given a very warm welcome and could check in early. The location was good. We stayed in the suite and it had everything we needed. The breakfast was great and it was nice to get to know the owner.
Review 27:nobody available at reception when we arrived, had to phone booking.com, but did get sorted
Review 28:near the station for trip to Paris, free parking close on Road
Review 29:Owner very helpful as we didnt speak much French. Almost like an apartment- 2 brms and kitchenette. Very close to train station and centre of town. Highly recommended
Review 30:We were traveling to the Hotel during the recent snow disruption which significantly delayed our arrival (By 9 Hours) even though we arrived at 4am we were greeted by the owner who was awaiting our arrival. We would like to thank him for his superb hospitality.
Review 31:The location for the Christmas Market was perfect, just a short walk. We parked outside the house, parking was free after 6 on a Saturday and free all day Sunday, so that was good too. The furnishings of the rooms were highly individual and we liked the antiques and old photos around the house. The kitchenette in the bedroom was very useful. Gerard was an excellent host, very helpful and informative.
Review 32:Gerard, the owner, was a very friendly, helpful and attentive host. A real gentleman. The rooms were large and spacious and the location was great. Excellent value for money.
Review 33:Nearing the end of our month away from home, we were craving a homey experience and a dog to pat and this is exactly what we got. Lovely family style breakfast of typically French fare with great coffee. The facilities were excellent in the family unit with a washing machine and kitchenette. Everything was spotlessly clean however the two flights of narrow stairs were a bit of a challenge. The location is excellent about 200m from the railway station and a short walk into the centre of the city. My only regret is that our stay was not longer.
Review 34:A friendly welcome and helpful, attentive proprietor. Close by a selection of excellent brasseries. A pleasing change from large and impersonal hotels.
Review 35:It's right next to a train station so can be noisy.
Review 36:As a family of five it's not always easy to find a hotel that will accommodate all of us but the Chambres dehotel did so very comfortably in their top floor apartment. It's in a good location close to the main square. The owner was very welcoming.
Review 37:Had we had a room on the road, I fear the trains would have disturbed our sleep.
Review 38:Excellent location for bus and train station. Gerard organised secure parking for our Harley as we did not want to leave it on the street. Our room overlooked the garden so it was quiet and peaceful. Gerard was an excellent host.
Review 39:The host was charming and very welcoming. The breakfast was lovely with produce from the local farmers' market
Review 40:Lovely friendly owner. Good breakfast
Review 41:Characterful, quirky and spacious rooms - and clean!
Review 42:Great location, wonderful breakfast the room was fantastic and so quiet would recommend to anyone going to Arras.one of are highlights of are trip.
Review 43:Authentic French, different from usual chain.
Review 44:STAY TWO NIGHTS AND THE ROOM NOT ONLY WASN'T CLEAN, BUT NOT EVEN THE BED WAS REDONE
Review 45:VERY FRIENDLY OWNER
Review 46:Friendly, informative host.Family room excellent space for 4 and a dog.
Review 47:Kind and helpfull owner! Breakfast in the mainroom together with the owner
Review 48:the friendliness and helpfulness of the host. the shared breakfast and the conversation.
Review 49:Lovely host. What a delight!
Review 50:Everything, traditional French and like a stately home.
Review 51:Owner friendly and welcoming. Good knowledge if the region, will definitely stay there again
Review 52:Excellent breakfast and Gerard was very helpful.
Review 53:Sweet man who greeted and looked after us, ample space and clean.
Review 54:Really nice house, and really really good welcome... Ideal for foreign people for discovering Arras with the great help of the owner.....
Review 55:Noisy road, noisy railway line Uncomfortable bed Poor breakfast No credit card facilities
Review 56:Convenience for the town centre Easy parking
Review 57:The owner was very helpful and attentive; genuine French breakfast; ten out of ten; we will stay again
Review 58:Location. didn't expect a kitchen which was very useful.
Review 59:2 flights of stairs!
Review 60:Rooms comfortable and breakfast epic
Review 61:unforunately property very near main trainline so very noisy all night furniture and decor very old and eccentric
Review 62:Very noisy as very close to main railway line.
Review 63:Very helpful owner, very close to station and plenty of restaurants.
Review 64:Parking can be difficult during weekdays
Review 65:A good nights sleep, quiet location. Gerard is an exremely helpful host.
Review 66:Very friendly greeting by name when we arrived. Excellent breakfast. Extremely helpful and well informed host.
Review 67:Loved it, like home from home .
Review 68:Parking is free on the street but not during daytime hours (when coins are required every two hours or so). Publicity should have made it clear that this is NOT a hotel. It is a guest house and the kitchen is merely a microwave oven and fridge and sink in a tiny area between the third floor bedrooms...no counterspace at all, and it would be difficult to prepare a meal here. As well, there is no place, other than your room, to eat (we booked both bedrooms on this floor; only one had a table & chairs you could use for meals.) Guests should note that there is a steep staircase.
Review 69:Gerard seeks to be helpful. Operating this B&B heritage house appears to be his only livelihood. He serves breakfast in his heritage dining room and then sits down to eat and chat in French with you. Breakfast is tasty and ample, and Gerard is willing to accommodate guest requests at no extra charge.
Review 70:Our host was very helpful with travel hints and helping us lug our cases up two flights of stairs. There was a good choice for breakfast. Close to town.
Review 71:Some noise occasionally from trains going by but nothing to worry about.
Review 72:Absolutely fabulous place to stay. the owner is the most helpful individual..his breakfasts and conversation starts the day off on a great tone. There are only 4 rooms in this Boutique/bed and breakfast hotel but they are superbly equipped with a small kitchen, bathroom etc. The owner gives you a key to the hotel and you and come and go as you like although he frowns on late night activities. The owner's English is good but he always has his French/English/French dictionary at hand and this makes for some great laughs. Book early as word of mouth has made this hotel popular.
Review 73:Wonderful place to stay. The owner was great. Delicious breakfast. Easy to park our rental car. Lovely antiques through out. Great view of the owners garden out our bedroom window.
Review 74:A bit close to train tracks but double glazing good to keep noise out.
Review 75:Very eclectic setting very interesting much better than cold comfort owner very helpful and friendly.central setting main attractions walkable.
Review 76:It was only a small thing but you could only hold the shower over yourself- there was no holder on the wall and you couldn't run a bath as there was no way of fitting a plug!!
Review 77:We thought Gerrard was very hospitable and obliging- we had gone to visit the wast trail and helped us with lots of information and recommendations- we will definitely be returning to him again
Review 78:Gerard is a fabulous host and has a beautiful home. He shared a lovelybreakfast with us taking care to ensure that my 8 year old son hadsomething to eat for breakfast that he would like. Gerard also gave myson a little christmas gift, which was very thoughtful. We mentionedthat we were visiting our great grandfathers war grave in Croisilles andGerard told us this was his home town and took time to show us picturesof Arras from the war. He has a gorgeous dog called Fabiola who was veryvery friendly and such a diva!! The location of the property is verycentral, taking approximately 5 minutes to walk into Arras centre. Anadded bonus for us was that the christmas market was on whilst we werethere. Thoroughly recommended - we will return.
Review 79:Abysmal! Damp and musty smelling with no heat until 6:00 PM. Bathroom built into an existing kitchen (no joke!). We thought we had seen it all but this was a first. Suggest delisting this property or at least give it no stars.
Review 80:Couldn't get into our room til 5pm on arrival
Review 81:The charming old style rooms with their antique bricabrac. An equally friendly host who shared breakfast with us each morning and his beautiful little dog Fabiola. Gerard even sent us a photo of us with Fabiola.
Review 82:Having toilet, bath/ shower and kitchenette all in the same room - it was a large room but seemed a bit strange.
Review 83:Host was friendly and helpful. Located near train station and restaurants.
Review 84:Personal touch - loved having breakfast with M. Gerard the owner and chatting about Arras. Self-contained flat with an area to make food was also fantastic with young children. Parking was available free in the evenings right outside. Only 4 minutes walk right into the centre of Arras, which is beautiful, and 1 minute from the railway station.
Review 85:Down at heel; TVs not working.
Review 86:Charming host and good location, near railway station and old town.Excellent value for a family with three children; less good for me andmy grandson. Though was certainly the cheapest apartment option, givingus both some privacy.
Review 87:No complaints.
Review 88:The Hotel was centrally located within walking distance from the centre of Arras. The owner was very friendly was able to give us a lot of information about where to eat etc. The bedroom was decorated in a Classical french style with a bath and shower in the room. We enjoyed our continental breakfast- lots of nice bread, brioche, tea and coffee.
Review 89:This accommodation is a credit to our host. He seemed to go out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable. The room was large and had a small kitchen area for preparation of light meals if desired. The breakfast was more than adequate and freshly prepared. We enjoy this more personal style of accommodation rather than the 'cookie-cutter' approach offered by many hotels. A delightful stay.
Review 90:Monseur Gerard, the owner, is a very kind and thoughtful man who goesout of his way to make guests welcome. Despite the languagedifficulties of us speaking very little French we enjoyed severalconversations with Gerard. On arrival around 8.00 pm he enquired if we had dined and provided suggestions for restaurants. Breakfast is a special time at this small hotel. There is a good range of fresh food including fruit. Gerard enjoys dining with his guests and tries to ensure that they have everything that they require. On the morning that we left by train he provided us with the normal breakfast at 7.00 am! Our room was very comfortable, with a large bathroom which included an area to make light meals. We had a view over the lovely garden at the rear of the house.
Review 91:There are two "41" on the same street. Better signage needed.
Review 92:The host was friendly and helpful. Included petit dejeuner was tasty. No frills accomodation but clean, quiet and was a great value. Very convenient location.
Review 93:The hot water for the bath ran out - my only problem!
Review 94:Mr. Grebert did everything for me. I didn't have change for a pizzaand I was starving, so he paid for it out of his own pocket and added itto my total fee. He was awesome to talk to, as well. He showed meexactly where everything was on a map, which was extremely helpful.5 minute walk to the train station, 10 minutes to downtown. PERFECT location. Absolutely incredible. My room was BEAUTIFUL. For the price I paid, I couldn't believe it. Huge bed, beautifully decorated room, my own bathroom and a bathtub! The wifi was incredible. It was so fast - the best wifi I've had in any of the hotels I've stayed at! This guesthouse didn't seem as popular as others in the are, and I don't know why - I had the BEST stay there. I would recommend this place to everyone.
Review 95:Bedding wasn't wonderful- blankets rather than duvets, and lumpy pillows.
Review 96:The owner was really friendly, and had no problem getting up at one o'clock in the morning to let us in.
Review 97:Boiler is a bit temperamental; best to put on high overnight to guarantee hot water for baths in the morning. Kettle's base is broken though still works. Some of crockery was dirty in cupboards. Both bedrooms have double beds with a single bed which is OK as long as your children don't mind sharing a bed.
Review 98:Nice host (and puppy!), fantastic breakfast, easy parking. Nice to have a base with kitchenette so can make sandwiches for lunch for the family, keep milk overnight for morning tea etc. An excellent base for visiting the battlefields.
Review 99:we don't France ,but we feel like family.
Review 100:Our only dislike is minor but we prefer a fixed shower.
Review 101:Gerard. Quietness. Comfortable bed. For Train travellers, great access.
Review 102:Bed not made-up or cleaning done for 2nd night stay. No hair dryer.
Review 103:Location, interior of place.
Review 104:Typical old fashioned French decor but was quirky!!
Review 105:Nice guy running the place, did a great breakfast and really tried to make conversation with us
Review 106:Very pleasant, welcoming and helpful host.
Review 107:Nothing
Review 108:Close to the railway station, quiet neighbourhood, friendly and helpful host, and a short stroll to the centre of town.
Review 109:A little bit dated! Eclectic room to say the least.
Review 110:The owner was lovely - quirky - very kind and genuine. Very keen to share his home.
