Reviews for Hôtel de Verdun

Review 1:Cats everywhere.. Owners choice but should warn guests on making booking. Place filthy. Horribly smelly, only made worse by the insense sticks trying to hide it! Booked and paid for two nights.. Only could stick it out for one night had to check out and go elsewhere

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:Hotel was in a very good spot within nevers. Staff were friendly.. although the lady spoke French to us even we were speaking in English, so we didn't know what she was saying. Room was comfortable, bed could've been better. Its quit old but for the price is okay. Wifi Is good

Review 5:No lift, 2 floors up with a dog and not able to walk ok, so this way up is not very nice. The road is next to you, so opening the window is not possible. Taking a shower means a lot of steam and this makes it even more unconfortable. Take a simple hotel outside the town and drive in...

Review 6:The room was noisy from the plumbing and outside. It was also dusty and my son had an asthma attack.

Review 7:The hotel is located in the centre of town opposite a lovely park. The breakfast was. Really good with home made Jams and cakes.

Review 8:Friendliness of staff and value for money.

Review 9:Good location both off the motorway and in town. Helpful, friendly staff and good wifi. Oh and the cats.

Review 10:Managers attitude to overseas guests, breakfast not much but had to pay for, manager very unhelpful.

Review 11:Wifi connection was good

Review 12:The double bett is very, very small for 2 persons.

Review 13:Very friendly and helpful personal

Review 14:The owner very kindly. Room and everything very good and clean

Review 15:Good value breakfast, but the rooms and entrance around the corner are rather tired and shabby and the location is on a busy corner

Review 16:Smelled of tobacco, cats and there was a dead budgie on the floor

Review 17:Staff were OK, and location

Review 18:The atmosphere of an old city hotel. Very nice and helpful staff (owners?) Good breakfast. A good location, close to a beautiful park.

Review 19:No good place for bikes!

Review 20:Localization

Review 21:On busy street, although did quiet down during the night. Poor quality breakfast - milk and juice both sour. Would recommend eating breakfast elsewhere.

Review 22:Simple, clean facilities. Good value for money. Bar underneath closes early. OK accommodations for one night stay.

Review 23:When checking out said that my cards wouldn't work, think they prefer cash, which I gave them later in the day. Just kind of squirrelly about the issue.

Review 24:Location, near the convent of St. Bernadette. Had a quiet room overlooking the garden area with cats. Breakfast was great. Also, was within walking distance of the train station. Were willing to hold my luggage until my train left.

Review 25:The owners were very gracious, friendly and welcoming. They made sure I was comfortable during my stay. They taught me where the supermarket and nice restaurants were. The room was spacious, with a big bed, study table and closet. Bath was clean with nice hot shower.

Review 26:There are two sections to this hotel - one with access in the hotel and one with access on the side street. Which was fine. But the lock seemed like it was about to break and I did wonder about security. Having said that, nothing bad happened and I would def stay there again.

Review 27:Cheapest hotel accommodation in France to date and while it's budget, it's got everything you need - good comfy beds, good showers and good free WIFI. Plus TV with CNN. It's not going to blow you away but it is good value. Our room was on the busy street but as soon as you shut the windows, it was quiet. Easy walking to attractions. Bike parking in the courtyard. Friendly and helpful hosts.

Review 28:the english speaking male receptionist did not lift a finger helping me carry my 30 kgs bag even if he saw me I had a hard time carrying it to the 2nd floor as there was no lift.

Review 29:The hotel was my starting point for cycling the Loire and it was ideal for that - very bike friendly. I also liked the traditional french appearance.

Review 30:A little farther from the tourist area of Nevers. But perfect as far asvisiting Espace Bernadette. Besides, if you want to see France, thereare other places that can offer more. But for me, the priority is SaintBernadette. So it was all worthwhile.

Review 31:I was here on September 16to19. I liked how the location is just a 3minute walk to Espace Bernadette. The concierge was a nice gentleman. Hewill acquaint you where to go in town, that is tourist worthy. Place isvery clean. But, steep narrow stairs, so don't bring big luggage.Great accommodations.

Review 32:I know I had not seen the small print that said that reception was closed between 12and 5pm on Sunday but when I arrived just after 3pm on a hot day after cycling for 6hours all I wanted was to change my clothes, get rid of my panniers and have some water. I phoned the 'emergency' number and was lectured about reception being closed. Then the guy opened the door for me. It was not a big deal because he was actually in the building. Anyway he felt that he had to keep reminding me during my stay that the detail on booking.com did say reception was closed. I got the message the fist time. No need to keep repeating it.

Review 33:The location was good and it was cheap.

Review 34:Dingy, musty back stairs (but good once in the room). Very late check in on Sundays

Review 35:Nice room. Wife very friendly and ebullient. Opposite large park. Safe bike storage.

Review 36:Nothing really since its a budget hotel

Review 37:Location was excellent for us as it was very near the convent where St Bernadette's body is kept. A short 10 min walk to the train station. Staff (couple who owned the hotel) were helpful, friendly and spoke english. There was also 1 sports channel and 1 English Channel (CNN) for English speakers.

Review 38:It was a non-smoking room but there was a residual cigarette odour, though pretty subtle and tolerable.

Review 39:Really lovely staff, great location next to the park. Very comfortable bed. Clean and reasonably spacious. Nice breakfast. Good value.

Review 40:The room smelt quite strongly of smoke, I would suggest that they had the option of smoking and non smoking rooms.

Review 41:The Hotels location was ideal for us as we where travelling from the railway station early the next morning. There where also numerous restaurants & bars in the vicinity.
